This is not a laughing matter.
This only goes to show the level of ignorance in this country.
My heart bleeds.
Those who value their lives will do the needful. Just like the seat belt issue, a lot of people only comply to "please" law enforcement agents.
Do we need to be told how to live life on the "safe lane".?
When the accident happens who will bare the brunt. , we know the obvious. |

sultaan: I am not sure if these will work, but if you do not have the original keys with security chip(factory system) it might take some expert to fix this, or call the seller. Why did I not think of this. Yes some 1998 Toyota Camry's come with transponder keys. This may just be the problem. Give me a call (07057222508) let's see if your key is the issue. |

I am sorry we do not handle VW vehicles.
VW keys need PIN codes from autorized dealers (abroad) which we do not have yet. We are however doing our best to add more vehicles to our range. |

Car Talk › Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by keyremotes(m): 7:36pm On Jan 04, 2009 |
sojioguns: @keyremotes, Like i said before, a lot of people are saying this from the perspective of car owners. Try using okada as primary short haul transportation and you will understand. The govt has misplaced priorities. Get the roads in good condition dammit!!!!! I ride on OKADAs. But I can assure you that I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY SAFETY FOR ANY REASON. I HAVE A FAMILY THAT LOVES ME. SO I MUST SHOW I LOVE THEM BY BEING CAREFUL. sojioguns: Now you are showing your true colour keyremotes. I always knew there was something fishy about you. Sure you don't work with the FRSC? I have never worked for Government before and will never. I will only be meeting a need if I decide to do any business involving helmets. by the way, I have a totally different business I am doing. There is a saying "if you cannot stand the head, leave the kitchen". What socks about owning or carrying you helmet? Just like we all (men) used to having our clippers that we carry to the barbers' shop for our hair cut. We will get used to seeing ourselves with helmets. Have you noticed that theses guys who own power bikes carry their with pride? So when you carry yours into a bank for instance, people will think you have a power bike outside. LOL Truth be told, all our talk here will not change the policy. Let us rather pray and work together for the success. We shall be better off with it. |
Car Talk › Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by keyremotes(m): 7:26pm On Jan 04, 2009 |
sojioguns: Nigeria is not a country where one can just take some principles from textbooks and apply. Ask Soludo with his monetisation policy. Whats seems ideal needs a second thought before applying here in Naija. Yes helmets are good and safe but check statistics, there are more fatal accidents caused by petrol tankers and danfo buses than Okada riders. Dere I: Government should better do something about the passengers that are asked to wear helmets too. Here in Enugu, if you (a passenger) is caught holding the helmet on your hand( for a very good reason), you will be charged a fine of N2,000. Why must we wear helmet? is it compulsory? This is a very bad idea. Look at it my way, now there is use of public helmet, there would certainly be spread of different kinds of hair diseases. For instance, hair lice, dandruff, ringworm and so on. Government please do something about this. We the ladies, we take about 1.5hrs making and combing up our hair and the minute we go on byke, we are given a dirty helmet, not only about the diseases that might be in it, it scatters our beautifully arranged hair. Government i dey beg una ooooo. Maybe make una do Iron umbrella, that one will be better . GET YOUR HELMET. redsun: The scheme will create a whole new viable sector for crash helmet cleaning and sanitizing,as well as manufacturing and sells of cheap disposal helmets underlays for passengers protections against infections, just like the more dangerous pubic hair clippers use in salons.
A whole new connections and opportunities in quest for sanity which is long over due.We got to learn to live properly.Understanding the mechanism of a motor bike will make u see the need for bike gears.riding a motor bike on public roads without crash helmet is a traffic offense in normal societies, worst than driving a car without a seat belt.
Nigeria need leaders like Fashola, revolutionary in democrazy. NOW YOU'RE TALKING. OPPORTUNITIES ABOUND FOR PEOPLE WITH VISION. WHILE THE MAJORITY WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LAW. THE MINORITY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE AND PROSPER BIG TIME. I THINK I WILL FOLLOW THIS AND SEE WHAT I CAN MAKE OUT OF IT. |
Car Talk › Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by keyremotes(m): 5:10pm On Jan 04, 2009 |
cvibe: The FRSC helmet law has come to stay though it may die after a while like the reflective sticker one If you are a constant okada rider, i don't think anyone will frown at you if you have your own personal helmet. That way you wouldn't need to be wearing nylon bags over your head or be afraid of disappearing when you ride an okada All vehicles come with factory installed reflectors. So there was really no need for people to buy reflector for their vehicles. Heads do not come with "heaven installed" helmets . Let those who are "aggrieved" by this new policy thinkn this thru properly and begin to see the beauty of the policy. Does it really matter who the importer is? Did people not bad mouth BRT at inception? Why are Nigerians so NEGATIVE about things that concern their safety? By way, a lot of these OKADA riders are not as impoverished as we think. There is this guy in my neighbourhood who started 2 years ago with one bike. Today he has bought about 4? It has become a major business for them. THE BOTTOM LINE REMAINS: BUY YOUR HELMET IF YOU CANNOT STICK THE OKADA RIDERS' |

charlisco: Here in warri, if you are caught without an helmet police will charge you a penality fee of N4000 each (pessenger and the rider) when i ask the okada man how much dey bought their helmet he said the cost was N200

sojioguns: Oh my goodness. Why are Nigerians so superstitious? I am more worried about hygiene issues that my head falling into someone's pot. WHAT YOU BELIEVE IN IS WHAT WILL WORK FOR YOU! Anyway, I think the cause of the Okada explosion in the first place has always been the govt. If the roads were good enough for cars/buses or if the traffic was not that bad, then there won't be too many Okadas on the road. Another thing is I really don't see the engineers' helmet the okada riders use as helmets act as protective gear in the event of an accident. I guess we need to find out who in govt. is actually importing helmets and forcing the poor okada hustlers to buy overpriced plastic. The day we stop bothering about who is importing what Nigeria will be better off. What we should be more important to us is the SAFETY idea behind it. My take on all this is IF YOU MUST RIDE ON AN OKADA AND DO NOT WANT TO USE THE RIDERS HELMET OUT OF FEAR OF BEING KIDNAPPED OR CONTACTING BUMPS, BUY YOURS. SIMPLE. "But should superstitious beliefs stop government from going ahead with this law, I don't suppose so" I AGREE WITH dinative ON THIS. Just like the BRT issue, LET US BELIEVE THIS WILL WORK THIS TIME AROUND. |

leye1234: as a passanger, make sure you carry your own helmet. otherwise your head might end up in someone's soup pot. It only makes hygienic sense to have a personal helmet. It will soon become a "cool" thing to have "carry" one. |

Vehicle cannot be hot wired.
If your vehicle is fitted with a transponder technology ignition and you have only 1 key, you are in grave danger of being stranded.
Getting duplicate keys made with non-transponder blanks will do you no good other than they may open the doors and trunk but will not start the car, if your happen to lose your key.
If the on board computer computer of your car does not receive the correct key identification response when the key is turned to the on position, it will not start. No fuel, no spark, no starter. You won't be going anywhere. (Vehicle cannot be hot wired.)
Delay can be costly, make that all important call or send that mail right now. |
