sojioguns:

@keyremotes, Like i said before, a lot of people are saying this from the perspective of car owners. Try using okada as primary short haul transportation and you will understand. The govt has misplaced priorities. Get the roads in good condition dammit!!!!!

I ride on OKADAs. But I can assure you that I WILL NOT COMPROMISE MY SAFETY FOR ANY REASON. I HAVE A FAMILY THAT LOVES ME. SO I MUST SHOW I LOVE THEM BY BEING CAREFUL.

sojioguns:

Now you are showing your true colour keyremotes. I always knew there was something fishy about you. Sure you don't work with the FRSC?

I have never worked for Government before and will never.
I will only be meeting a need if I decide to do any business involving helmets.

by the way, I have a totally different business I am doing.

There is a saying "if you cannot stand the head, leave the kitchen".

What socks about owning or carrying you helmet?
Just like we all (men) used to having our clippers that we carry to the barbers' shop for our hair cut.
We will get used to seeing ourselves with helmets.

Have you noticed that theses guys who own power bikes carry their with pride?

So when you carry yours into a bank for instance, people will think you have a power bike outside. grin LOL

Truth be told, all our talk here will not change the policy. Let us rather pray and work together for the success.
We shall be better off with it.

If I may ask you.

Why do you think people who ride bikes in other countries in the world wear helmets?
Is it for aesthetics?

NO. But for safety.

PLEASE I HAVE NO INTENTION OF GOING INTO HELMET BUSINESS.
I AM VERY CONTENT AND OK WITH MY AUTOMOTIVE KEY BUSINESS.

has anyone of you talking gibberish with their stinking mouth, has anyone of you fallen off an okada before? Looks like non of you have, if you have, noone will teach you to make every effort to put on an helmet whenever you ride on one, you no go even need any government to make any pronouncement before you begin put your own helmet for head for your own safety. Na foolish people they wait for government to make laws about safety before they know or learn to keep themselves safe. Abi, na fashola dey ride for the okada? na I'm head go break when I'm fall down from okada? Abi no be graze dey worry all of una wey dey blame the use of helmet? Another case na d case of seat belt, na only Nigeria i see people that are supposed to be learned, drive their cars without the use of seat belts, how absurd.

You see, Nigerians are so much of a foolish people, that you begin to wonder why God created them.

Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by redsun(m): 8:35pm On Jan 04, 2009
It's not how far but how well.If you can't handle a bike, don't go near it.
Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by bigfather(m): 8:43pm On Jan 04, 2009
Its good for the okada man himself to put on the helmet  but i can't see myself putting on that stuff. You can imagine the hygine level of some people and with the evil ideas of ritualist flowing everywhere ! Abeg my children never sabi them papa well enough  grin. I would rather put my helmet in my nap sack whenever there's is a need to.

Bros, safety is in the hand of the LORD ! I wonder when last you came home, on a good day, you need to see some of these okada riders with their dirty outfit then you can imagine how carefree they would be with the helmet !

Re: New Helmet Rule In Lagos by Nobody: 9:25pm On Jan 04, 2009
Jeeze guys!

You have 2 options -

Buy your own helmet, or if that's not an option, don't use taxi bikes!!

What's so hard to understand about that?
Do you feel that you wearing a helmet protects anyone else but yourselves?

Forget about danfo and trucks being some of the causes of fatal accidents.
This thread is about cracked craniums, resulting from being thrown from a bike, and landing on your head!

The fact remains that those who make these laws don’t care about the masses they govern, so if you are bothered about the superstitious belief of your head being used for rituals or the hygienic implications of having to wear the same helmet with someone who has deadly bumps they don’t care because they are busy spending millions of naira buying 2010 model cars for themselves and their escort convoys and don’t know what it’s like having to sit on a bike and knowing that the last passenger you just saw alighting from the bite had bumps and now you have to wear the same helmet with him. So the only way they can make more money is by ripping off the little these poor riders have all in the name of fine for not wearing helmets. Anyway it’s a good thing but I think helmets should be made compulsory for the riders since they are the ones who ride for a living and not the passengers because it’s unhealthy and unhygienic to have the whole of Lagos/Nigeria share one helmet. And these people should try as much as possible to create good jobs because no one would want to risk his life to ride the so called okada if he had a better Job and I must tell you because of the degree of poverty women are now applying to join the okada riders association just to help put food on the table.

That is what am talking about and to worsen their plight, they are being forced to buy an helmet for like 6k ! While the same helmet sells at 3k ! Is this not a total RIP OFF ?! And if you are buying 2 , that'll amount to 12k. Though it's a very good idea but they should be allowed to make their own choice .
