Arsenal Should Sign Milan's Gennaro Gattuso - Ian Wright

Former Arsenal hitman Ian Wright believes Gunners manager Arsene Wenger should sign Milan midfielder Gennaro Gattuso to add some fighting qualities to the team in an attempt to save their title bid this season.

The Gunners lost 2-1 at the weekend to title rivals Manchester United following a hard-fought game at Old Trafford, and Wright doesn't feel Arsenal have the tenacious qualities to battle with the very best.

The former striker feels players who aren't afraid to stick their feet into the opposition are needed, and he has picked Gattuso as the one who would intimidate other sides with aggression.

"Arsenal need to sign someone like AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso, an experienced, tough-tackling midfield enforcer who would not have allowed himself or his team-mates to be bullied by a player like United's Darren Fletcher," Wright told The Sun.

Landing Gattuso is unlikely, as he is tied to the San Siro-based club until 2011. In addition, Wenger's philosophy has always been to bring in youngsters, rather than players who are reaching the end of their careers.

Official: Monaco Sign Barcelona Forward Eidur Gudjohnsen

Monaco FC have completed the free signing of Barcelona frontman Eidur Gudjohnsen, the French club have announced.

Gudjohnsen had long been linked with football away from the Camp Nou after expressing his dissatisfaction over his peripheral role at the Catalan club.

The Iceland international has now penned a two-year contract with Monaco, where he will wear the club's No.9 jersey.

The signing of Gudjohnsen finally ends Monaco's quest for a striker after their bid for Steve Savidan collapsed because of a cardiac condition.

The former Chelsea man, who joins Monaco on the same day as Mathieu Coutadeur, has become the first Icelandic footballer in the history of the club.

Croatia International Niko Kranjcar Passes Medical At Tottenham Hotspur

The lay-off of influential playmaking midfielder Luca Modric, who broke his leg during Tottenham Hotspur's clash with Birmingham City and is not expected to be fit until late October, is less likely to diminish the club's strong start to the season as Niko Kranjcar - a near like-for-like replacement - edges closer to a permanent move to White Hart Lane following a successful medical.

The Croatian international has been coached by Spurs manager Harry Redknapp before, and will rejoin strikers Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe, with whom he will be familiar from their time together at troubled south-coast club Portsmouth.

The £2.5 million signing of the Zagreb-born 25-year-old coincides with a plethora of eleventh-hour deadline-day dealings, and the swoop may not even be the last time Redknapp does business with his former club Pompey, as David James continues to be linked with a move to the Lilywhites.

Kranjcar has 47 caps at international level, scoring seven times.

Khanye - u dey Craze? huh wink
"I just kicked a bottle of water. I did it because I was disappointed, not because I thought it wasn't offside," said Wenger, who was sent off deep in injury time.

"The fourth official called the referee over and he sent me off. I don't know what to say. I didn't even know where to go.

"I didn't know you were not allowed to kick a water bottle, although it was a good kick."
Lol. . . . . .

Gudjohnsen & Henrique Set For Barcelona Exit - Report

Barcelona have agreed to loan young centre-half Henrique to Racing Santander for the 2009-10 season, while Eidur Gudjohnsen will join Monaco on a two-year deal - according to Marca.

Henrique signed for the Catalans from Brazilian outfit Palmeiras in 2008 for an initial fee of €8 million and had a successful loan spell at Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen last season.

It is understood that the Blaugrana want Henrique to gain more first-team experience, this time in Spain, with a view to building the young defender's confidence.

Gudjohnsen's three-year spell at Camp Nou will come to an end later today when he completes his switch to Monaco. The 31-year-old, who signed for Barcelona from Chelsea, will sign a two-year deal at the Stade Louis II.

He had been linked with a return to London with West Ham United, where he would link up with former Blues team-mate Gianfranco Zola, but has opted for Ligue 1 instead.
