I didn't contradict my self because I didn't say united have a strong back 4. What am trying to imply there is that, whether u have a strong or weak back 4, you still need the brilliancy and superb save of a good Gk, which De gea is and has been exceptional for united. Similarly, Neuer has been superb and exceptional for both bayern and Germany making several breathe taking saves.

I don't know the criteria used in selecting neuer in the final 3 but that guy is very good, the best Gk currently in the world. Besides having a strong back 4 to protect the post, you also need the brilliancy of a good Gk to make superb excellent saves. Ask man united about De dea.
