"The Nigerian Army is aware of clandestine campaign of calumny and misinformation on the incident of 12 December 2015 in Zaria by a group of high ranking members of Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) led by one Doctor Abdullahi Danladi, a Lecturer at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
Earlier today he was at the University soliciting for support and telling lies about the circumstances surrounding the incident and the incident itself. He also went further to make false and unfounded allegations of casualty figures and desecration of burial grounds. It is preposterous and shows lack of concern and respect for peace and tranquility.
So much as the Nigerian Army has reported the matter before the appropriate agencies and action is being taken, it would not sit back and allow some mischievous elements in the society to further create unnecessary tension and disaffection in the society.
This attitude will not be tolerated where people abuse their privileged position to mislead the public, create disaffection.

Jigawa Set to Employ 100 Foreign Doctors to Improve Health Sector

Jigawa state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abba Zakari, has disclosed that the state government is set to employ 100 medical doctors in order to improve manpower in the health sector.
While speaking in Dutse during the delivery of medical products donated by a pharmaceutical company, Zakari explained that the govt will employ foreign doctors if the required manpower cannot be secured locally.
She said Nurses, Midwifes and community health workers will also be recruited and the sum of N750 million had been budgeted for the procurement of medical equipments.
She noted that the government will give priority to Dialyses Machine among the equipments to be procured.

During the inauguration of President Alpha Conde’s of Guinea Conakry for the second term in office on Monday, President Buhari, who was represented by his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, expressed happiness over the sustenance of democratic rule in Africa.

The Lagos State Government has approved the construction of flyover bridges for two of the State's high-density traffic zones, Ajah round about and Abule Egba junction. The two major projects were approved by the State's Executive Council and have been duly awarded to contractors for a speedy commencement of work.
In a press release issued yesterday December 13th by the State's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, the projects will be completed within 16 months.
The statement said the construction of the reinforced concrete flyover and signalized intersection at Ajah roundabout will be undertaken simultaneously with the rehabilitation of Freedom Road in Lekki, with a view to reducing the heavy traffic being recorded at the Ajah round-about and the Lekki-Ikoyi axis. Ayorinde said the Ajah flyover bridge will have a solar-powered signalized intersection in order to greatly improve traffic, while the upgrade of Freedom Road is expected to ease traffic considerably for vehicles using the Third Roundabout to connect Lekki through Admiralty way.
While the Ajah project will ease movement of residents and commuters on the Lagos Island - Ibeju Lekki areas, the construction of the reinforced concrete dual-carriage flyover bridge at Abule Egba junction will equally bring joy and relief to millions of commuters that use the Lagos

I had so many ideas of a perfect relationship in my mind until I met Obi’m (that’s what Kelechi always wants me to call him). He pampers and surprises me a lot. Igbos take care of their women.
My dear Obi’m is very proud! Allow me say this, he is very arrogant too. He never apologizes. He would rather buy you gifts instead and expects forgiveness automatically. I totally hate this part of him!
“So you still have that in mind after all that I’ve done for you? I am a man, don’t bruise my ego… You want me to be kneeling down for you?”, that’s a typical response from Kelechi anytime he notices I’m still reluctant to forgive him.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has threatened to expose all those, irrespective of their social stand, that are indicted in the N1 trillion rail contract scam. After months of preparation, the first planeload of Syrian refugees was headed to Canada on Thursday, aboard a military plane to be met at Toronto's airport by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trudeau's newly elected Liberal government scaled back the number of Syrian migrants it will accept by year end after the attacks in Paris sparked concern that bringing in 25,000 by Dec. 31 - an election promise - would not allow enough time for security checks.
Some 300 Syrian refugees were expected to arrive on two military flights, the first arriving in Toronto on Thursday and the second in Montreal on Saturday. Trudeau has said 10,000 will be resettled by the end of the year and a further 15,000 by the end of February.
Toronto's mayor tweeted a welcome, while the Toronto Star, the nation's largest newspaper, covered its front page with a "Welcome to Canada" banner headline in English and Arabic, along with an article explaining Canadian weather, ice hockey and quirky local slang.

Canadian refugee groups and private sponsors said they were excited and scrambling to prepare for the arrival of the families, who have been chosen from camps in Lebanon and Jordan after fleeing Syria's four-year-old civil war.
"Everyone is excited. We will be ready," said Lorig Garboushian-Katrjian, a coordinator at the Armenian Community Centre of Toronto, which has helped sponsor 71 refugees arriving on the first plane.
With security concerns, immigration paperwork and the flight's late-night arrival, most sponsors and family members will not be able to meet the refugees at the airport, but the government has arranged for the refugees to stay overnight at nearby hotels, Garboushian-Katrjian said.
She said she had spoken to some of the families before they boarded the plane and said no one minds the extra night in a hotel.

Here are the top 6 kidney stone prevention tips:
1.Don't Underestimate Your Sweat.Saunas, hot yoga and heavy exercise may be good for your health, but they also may lead to kidney stones. Why? Loss of water through sweating - whether due to these activities or just the heat of summer—leads to less urine production. The more you sweat, the less you urinate, which allows for stone-causing minerals to settle and bond in the kidneys and urinary tract.
Instead:Hydrate with H2O. One of the best measures you can take to avoid kidney stones is to drink plenty of water, leading you to urinate a lot. So, be sure to keep well hydrated, especially when engaging in exercise or activities that cause a lot of sweating.
2.It's Not Just the Oxalate.Oxa-what? Oxalate is naturally found in many foods, including fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, grains, legumes, and even chocolate and tea. Some examples of foods that contain high levels of oxalate include: peanuts, rhubarb, spinach, beets, chocolate and sweet potatoes.

Moderating intake of these foods may be beneficial for people who form calcium oxalate stones, the leading type of kidney stones. A common misconception is that cutting the oxalate-rich foods in your diet alone will reduce the likelihood of forming calcium oxalate kidney stones. While in theory this might be true, this approach isn't smart from an overall health perspective. Most kidney stones are formed when oxalate binds to calcium while urine is produced by the kidneys.
Instead:Eat and drink calcium and oxalate-rich foods together during a meal. In doing so, oxalate and calcium are more likely to bind to one another in the stomach and intestines before the kidneys begin processing, making it less likely that kidney stones will form.
3.Calcium is Not the Enemy.But it tends to get a bad rap! Most likely due to its name and composition, many are under the impression that calcium is the main culprit in calcium-oxalate stones. "I still see patients who wonder why they are getting recurring stones despite cutting down on their calcium intake," said Dr. Jhagroo. "I've even had patients say that their doctors told them to reduce their calcium intake." A diet low in calcium actually increases one's risk of developing kidney stones.
Instead:Don't reduce the calcium. Work to cut back on the sodium in your diet and to pair
calcium-rich foods with oxalate-rich foods.
4.It's Not One and Done.Passing a kidney stone is often described as one of the most painful experiences a person can have, but unfortunately, it's not always a one-time event. Studies have shown that having even one stone greatly increases your chances of having another. "Most people will want to do anything they can to ensure it doesn't happen again," said Dr. Jhagroo. "Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case that people make the changes they need to after their first stone event." Research conducted by Dr. Jhagroo shows that those with kidney stones do not always heed the advice of their nephrologists and urinary specialists. About 15% of kidney stone patients didn't take prescribed medications and 41% did not follow the nutritional advice that would keep stones from recurring.
Instead:Take action! Without the right medications and diet adjustments, stones can come back, and recurring kidney stones also could be an indicator of other problems, including kidney disease.
5.When Life Hands You Kidney Stones…don't fret. And as the saying goes, "make lemonade." It's important to consider dietary remedies alongside prescription medications. While it may seem easier to just take a pill to fix a medical problem, consider what lifestyle changes will also make a big impact on your health.

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State stated that the state government has uncovered fraud in pension administration in the state and ordered the scrapping of the state’s Pensions Board, saying that a bureau would be created to look into the payment of pension funds to pensioners.
He promised that within two weeks, local government pensioners will get paid as steps have been taken to ensure that going forward,there will be provision made for payment of council pensioners.

“Government is aware that quite a number of our senior citizens, particularly the ones who were in the employment of the local governments, covered by the Local Government Pensions Board, for some reasons have not received their pension for a couple of months.
“I need to make the point clear, because when I see their comments, they seem to indicate that the state government is responsible for the payment of their pensions. It is true that the state government has some level of responsibility to supervise and watch over the conduct of local governments. However, the local governments remain the 3rd tier of government and their roles and responsibilities are fully spelt out in the Constitution.”

The World Bank has urged President Buhari to remove petroleum subsidy now as the price of crude oil has declined drastically. The position of the World Bank was made known by the bank's leader Economist, John Litwack at the launch of the new edition of Nigeria Economic Report, the World Bank’s Lead Economist.
He said the best time to remove fuel subsidy is now when global crude oil price is at its lowest level, noting that the Bank foresaw continuous decline in global crude oil price.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a proposal that was contained in the 2016-2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, which he sent to the National Assembly on Tuesday, stated that he is proposing to spend N500bn on a social welfare program that will cater for the needs of youths and other “vulnerable” groups in 2016.
Buhari wrote a letter to Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, and another one to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, which were read to members in their respective chambers.
The social welfare programme would be executed in phases and it would also take care of the school feeding programme initiative as well as the “conditional cash transfer to the most vulnerable and a post-NYSC grant” but did not categorically say whether it was meant to implement his administration’s promise to pay each unemployed person in the country N5, 000 monthly.
The president stated that the relief welfare programe willstart next year as a pilot scheme and that his government would work towards securing the support of donor agencies and development partners in order to minimise potential risks.
