"Okada" A motorcycle to those ones looking for gramme. but because of the way our school was hidden at the outskirts of town i had to trek to

first baptist church road. "Sir you know General hospital " i said to the old man then he nodded. i quickly climbed on top the bike rushing down to the hospital.

I have no idea what happened to me but the past few days with harry at the hospital had changed my feeling towards harry i had suddenly

become caring towards him. "Whats happening to me i said to no one in particular" i dont know how my okada ran into an incoming vehicle

then i blacked out

. He left soon and the next thing i heard was that harry was hospitalized mehn i was shocked when my mom told me, then

she broke the news that his mother travelled living him in our care.

i had to see him in the hospital the next day i felt so sorry for him, i had to copy his notes for him,cook for him, help him out in

the hospital then i finally got the chance to know him without being judgemental. Harry was nice afterall, he was funny,

intelligent and reallly had a big appetite. he even told me once "If this is what being sick entail i'd be bedridden just to have you

here by my side" finally he was booked for and operation i wasn't told all i knew was that i was in school

one day when a teacher rushed in and told me that he said he must see me before going in she said it so loud that thelma and

sophie heard then p-squares song Danger started playing in my head. Omoh i knew i was in Gobe

THIS IS DA BOMB

The relationship between harry and my mom blossomed, as he fondly called her "Mumcy mi", mom gave me things to give

him at school gave me errands that would make me talk to him. There was a night she even sat me down and told me that

that harry is from a very good family that was when i found ou that my mum and his mom where best friend in secondary

school, we went to harry''s house while he was a regula visitor at our resturant. Then one day i met harry at our

shop; he had helped my mum fetch water to fill the drums before i arrived at the resturant on saturday and my mum left for

her

women meeting leaving me and harry behind at the store. "Milly" his small ladylike voice called out from behind the counter,

distracting me from the biology textbook i was reading. "What is it this time" i said trying to hide the anger in my voice.

"please can i just talk to you for sometime please-" he said coming out of his hiding and drawing a chair close to mine, "You

have five minutes" I told him with so much authority and he was even scared of the way i looked at him. He knew i was visibily

angry with him so he drew his chair back a bit, "Emily i dont know why you hate me so much, but my dear i only want us to

be friends, i have talked to your mum for her permission so you see i dont have other intentions. im sorry for all that happened

, i swear i have nothing to do with those girls i tryed to explain to you but you were angry with me" he said with his eyes

shaking in fear while i stared at him looking unmoved he got nervous and then he pulled me close and Kissed me passionatly he

held me close while i tried to break free

The next i saw was that she walked pass me to greet her friend behind me, mehn you know the feeling you get when you escape getting caught.

i heaved a sigh of relive as i picked up my bag to began to walk home, i walked slowly behind because i wanted to avoid silly questions from

other students like,

"Mill did you fight with thelma"

"Is it true that she fought you because of a guy?"

So prevention they say is better than cure

i turned back and saw harry running behind in order to catch up with me, i quickly crossed the road and boarded an okada

the guy was shabby looking but who cares "Small madam wia i dey go fa" he said with his heavily laced hausa accent

"Bros abeg hospital road sharp sharp" i said already jumping on the bike, i turned back and saw him waving something at me but i paid less

attention to that. Harry boarded a bike that moment and followed me in my mind i was like "Guy allow me na".

i never knew he had something else in mind

"Speed up oh some body is following me. Fast" i said hurrying the man till i finally stoped at my moms store. i came down and opened my

school bag to bring out my wallet lo and behold it was no where to be found i was in deep sh.it cause i couldnt pay the man and moms

change was missing.


The okada driver just stared at me, "Small madam anything happen?"


"Er. . . . .em lemme bring my wallet im coming " i said actually tongue tied before my mom came out and asked


" Any problem? " mom said holding her scarf in her hands.

i was about talking before Harry arrived "Excuse me ma, Good evening ma " he said very politely

"Emily you mistakenly dropped this wallet when you wanted to board the bike, i was waving it at you but i guess you did'nt see it so i came to give it to you " I forced a reuctant "Thank you"

before my mom sent me in while she gave harry soft drinks and they talked on and on before i could know they became like

mother and son.

"When we got home my mom talked about harry and how he was a well mannered child, and how he would be a good friend to me "

i still asked myself over and over again WHAT DID HARRY TELL MY MUM?
