That sounds good to me. It could be true both mails were for last year's application. In any case, if by the weekend your status still reads "under review" then it is confirmed that you are Still in the process.

My application status is blank....meaning no reference no,no awaiting status or anytin...like I didn't apply for he job athough I did the two test and got feedback mail that my application is under review...Is anybody experiencing dis.....wat do I do?

I'm certain the regret mail was for last year's. Seems like they don't want to consider any applicant from last year's pool. My opinion tho.

problem with providing details of progress is that instead of people to use the info provided and move on
they would rather want bombard you with several questions that can just be solved my carefully reading through the thread.. most questions are generic,
someone must have asked it before!

Video Interview was okay though..
I didn't do well in my judgement (twas my first ) lol
Anyway, i got 6 questions
mine were:
1. introduce yourself to us and why you applied for a role in kerry or so. . and why Accounting? why food industry ?
2. tell us about a time where u faced difficulty in a team and how u handled it... bla bla
3. How does current economy state affect kerry or so
4. how does the finance function affect kerry as a group
5. any other info u would like to add to ur application

can't remember one question. .
before you ask, I applied for a finance role (that shud be obvious)

the questions are usually timed... eg 3 mins to answer
they are programed ie not a physical person asking you..just scrolls after you submit ur responses
u have an option to review your answer and you can rerecord if you're not satisfied with the last response

however for some answers I did, when I tried reviewing.. I couldn't record another instead.. it just auto submitted. .

All in all... just find a bright place and record your stuff and communicate effectively. not forgetting to research on them so as to have answer to those questions
without sounding lost ..

I was mailed that they have received my video and will now "carefully review"... I de wait

Referral/Networking/Recommendation and merit are not necessarily mutually exclusive.

Referral can still be merit. It becomes abused when

1, Someone who did better than you in the selection process is denied job

2, Selection process (interview etc) are waived for you

3, Being given the job even when you do poorly in the job selection process

4, Being given the job where you don't meet requirements

These are instances when referral/networking/recommendation is abused.

Otherwise, it's absolutely in order. Referral will only get you the interview invite, it won't get you the job. I'm talking about the globally acceptable referral now. Not the one that is abused.

Let me give examples:

1, Last year, my company sent out an email to all staff listing 4 positions that are available to be filled, and asking for our recommendation, if any. I have a friend that we were together in my former company. I asked him to send his CV. He did and I forwarded to our H.R. Mind you, he had all the requirements set by the company in the email (Chartered accountant, 5 years oil and gas industry experience, project accounting experience etc). He was invited for the interview alongside 2 more candidates. He performed best at the interview and got the job.

2, I got wind of another opening in my company few weeks ago. I had another candidate (also from my former company) and forwarded his CV. He had all the requirements. He was invited for interview but someone did better than him. He didn't get the job.

In well structured organizations, referral is used more in experienced level positions, not graduate position. Companies will tell you to recommend people you have worked with in the past and trust their competence.

It is a global practice.

Shell will definitely not do this at entry level as they have a well defined entry level recruitment procedure which is uniform globally (the SRD), however, for experienced positions, they may be doing this. For example, they can decide to bring one top engineer or geologist from Mobil or Total who is highly respected in the industry.

80% of the senior management staff in my company are from Shell and Mobil, mostly by recommendations and industry reputation (poaching). Talking about guys that spent 25-30 years in Shell and Mobil.

I had my SRD at Eko hotel in Lagos on the 4-5 November, 2014. It was wonderful experience. I must state that Shell's recruitment process is very fair and transparent. There were six of us and Shell staff always encouraged us to do our best stating that all of us could be successful. They provided every support you needed to do well in the SRD. So those who applied should be positive. I will share my experience fully when I get the offer letter which will be soon. NEVER GIVE UP FOR ANY REASON WHATEVER, " To him that is joined with the living, THERE IS HOPE!!!" by t he way, my status still reads " FINAL ASSESSMENT SCHEDULED"

God will bless us with His favour this year!!! Keep on keeping on!
