FreeStuffsNG:Buildings of any form - roads to houses - did not cause the modern day gully erosion problems in the SE region. Oil exploitation did. Do a research to see how. The oil producing areas of the Niger delta region receive a pittance from the resources in their immediate vicinity. The difficult terrain of the Niger delta region necessecitates more percentage than what is given from derivation so far. Rather, much of the proceeds from oil is funnelled to the old Northern region through proliferation of 20 new federating units in the old Northern region, but a meagre number of 17 states in the two southern regions. Land mass or population figures is NEVER used as yardstick to proliferate too many states or regions in an area with larger land mass or population, in a country formed by different regions. The 36 states political structure created by northern military dictators who created 20 states in one region, but 17 states for 2 regions, remains the hugest FRAUD about Nigeria. The oil producing areas of the Niger delta region should have become like Dubai if not that the proceeds of oil from the Niger delta region is denied the region. |

gariepinus:Bolded number 6. Abeg pray the governor of Abambra state to complete the road to Orlu. Politicians from Orlu zone governing Imo state think that if they repair the road, they are doing good to only the former gov of Imo who comes from Orlu local government area. That gov from Orlu local government area got the MCC in 2000 who reconstructed the road. This is the Orlu section of the Ihialla-Orlu federal road.
|
FreeStuffsNG:Bolded. But much of the SS region's environment has been destroyed by oil pollution. Too many people from the SS who can afford to leave the region now live in Abuja and in Lagos. The gully erosion which ravages much of the SE region is associated to oil exploration in the nearby SS region, and in the SE region proper. But we see people say to easterners: go back to your erosion ravaged east. There is no or tiny compensation to the oil producing areas for the pollution of their environment. |
I wish crude oil gets discovered in abundance in Ogun State. Not like Buhari's non existing crude oil discovered in Gombe and elsewhere in the North of Nigeria. |
JohnnA1:Of course, the colonial masters deeply studied the ethnic composition of Nigeria, and saw that regional government system suits independent country, Nigeria, best. Aguiyi Ironsi tinkered on regional government system when he took some powers from the regional governments in order for him to avert imminent separation of the north from Nigeria. Thereafter, northern military dictators introduced the present suffocating type of unitary government system to channel excess funds from crude oil to the 20 new federating units they proliferated in the old Northern region, as well as excess political advantages from the excess number of representative constituencies derived from the 20 new federal units in the northern region. After that, Nigeria took to the road to collapse as a country. |
naptu2:Why will the amendment to return to regional government system not succeed? The north which opposed it has seen the devastation and poverty which the present unitary government system has wrecked on Nigeria, especially in the North. If for example, Sharia criminal justice system is allowed in the constitution of the region of Northern Nigeria, there is no reason for Boko Haram to emerge and say it's fighting for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. Now see the havoc wrecked by Boko Haram on Nigeria as a whole. Tourism money is lost to Nigeria. Many countries live on income from tourists. There should have been no need for later days secessionist groups to emrge if regional government system is in practice in Nigeria. The present type of unitary government system introduced by northern military dictators with their constitution to legit the fraudulent political structure and unitary government system they created; has been suffocating all in Nigeria. |
Return Nigeria first to regional government system. Who the people in any region choose to lead them is secondary. Any region that chooses to elect leaders who desire for the region to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system or to commit much of the region's income to pilgrimages, it's up to the region. But it's stupeed to believe that Nigeria can progress on its present suffocating unitary government system. |
Fineman2:Evil is not in a people's desire for a separate country from an existing country. Before Nigeria armed forces started to kill the unarmed IPOB people beginning in a church in this Aba, those IPOB people paraded the streets in the east for years without haming a fly. Because you have sworn to live the life of parasitism in a dysfunctional country should not be reason for you to see a Separatist organisation as evil. |
babtoundey:Don't we have investigators in Nigeria again? Incidents like this had taken place many times only for some of you to assume that IPOB-ESN did the shooting; despite all known fact that IPOB people have severally said they were not responsible; despite the well known fact that IPOB set out with a motto of no violence? The ESN something was set up against armed herdsmen. |
EmeeNaka:Who told you that the killers were IPOB people? For years, hoodlums wanting to draw Nigeria's soldiers to kill innocent people in the SE had shot Nigeria's soldiers in the SE. Even the information released by Nigeria's Military officials said suspected to be IPOB people. Reason why you needed to read before jumping on comment section for your unending desire to stamp an unarmed IPOB with motto of "no violence " as a terrorist organisation. |
DMerciful:Don't mind the yeye people who don't know that the dumped National Anthem is not the Anthem agreed upon by all segments of Nigeria on independence day. The yeye people are of modern generation who believe that Nigeria was founded on 36 states and Abuja political structure under unitary government system with a National Anthem that sounded like a call to war: "arise o compatriot, Nigeria's call obey." |
robosky02:ALDRAP, you have not sued over the 1999 Constitution of Nigeria dictated by northern military dictators to legit the fraudulent political structure and unitary of system they also created. In which other country of the world is a Constitution decreed into law by military dictators still used many years after the exit of the military dictators? Only in Nigeria. The National Anthem drafted after the war by war winners, idolised villains and murderers, including Muritalla Mohammed, the mass murderer in Asaba, as war heroes whose labour will not be in vain. Above all, that Anthem was not the National Anthem agreed upon by all segments of Nigeria on independence day. |
Nzogbu2012:Glad that you at least, acknowledged the fact that Yoruba Nation agitators exist. |
opamoses1:Nigeria has close to a million persons in its armed forces. How Simon Ekpa succeeds in ordering and enforcing sit at home in Igbo land in the presence of the armed forces does not bother Reno Omokri. The armed forces can easily preempt Ekpa's sit at home orders from being enforced, if Nigeria's govt wants. It's very much easier for Nigeria's APC government to bring Ekpa from Finland to Nigeria for trial, than it was to kidnap Mazi Nnamdi Kalu from Kenya. Who is funding the sit at home in the SE because no reasonable Igbo likes the sit at home? Omokri, you are a dimwit fired up by Igbophobia. |
Igbophobia is driving Reno Omokri totally insane. Who will help Reno? |
Workch:With the Portharcourt road and other urban roads in Aba, gov Otti just put shame on the faces of the last three governors of Abia state before him. Those former Abia govs were indoctrinated in the false school that state was created for urban development and expansion of only the State capital. They attended same school with Imo govs since 1999. |
Snake001:And you will die fighting against Igbo not sharing one country with you because you registered for life of parasitism in one Nigeria including the Igbo and the rest of the oil producing areas of the Niger delta. Ewu. |
Sweet smell of crude oyel. Before long, use of fossil fuels will become a thing of the past. Diversify the Economy instead of investing on arms and ammunition for the purpose of killing Nigerians because of crude oil near their territorial waters. |
Jonjam269:If their region gets barren, they resort to buying your lands including your father's grave in your region. No be one Nigeria you people want? |
YorubaForum:They enjoy seeing the SE in violence. These people don't understand what nationhood means. No British, Ghana or Ivorian national will be happy seeing any part of British, Ghana or Ivorian territory in violence, or with erosion problems. But tell them let's divide Nigeria into more manageable countries; smell of crude oil and gas deposits in the Niger delta region will not allow them agree |
yyba:There is no division in Rivers state or National PDP. WIKE IS IN ABUJA WITH PRESIDENT TINUBU TO ENJOY THE FRUITS OF RIGGING RIVERS PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION FOR TINUBU. |
It's only in Nigeria that a candidate wins election through a political party and the party's ideology but defects to another political party, yet aspires to retain the same seat which belongs to the former political party. Keep watching; APC appointed higher court judges in Abuja may find technicalities to quash this noble judgment by the lower court in Rivers state. |
opamoses1:If you had known the true meaning of mob, you would have understood that your APC supporters and elections riggers are the real mob of Nigeria's political process. |
Ebubu2:Exact. Let us wait to see thieving and shameless state governors who will instruct their state Attorney General to file a defence to this. Absence of local govt autonomy and govs usurping local govt allocations have increased poverty in areas outside the state capital as governors pocketed much of the local govt allocations and plough the remainder in building vainglory projects like boulevards in the state capital. Some states that began with many urban centres have been reduced to one city state. Imo for example. |
One of the front runners of political restructuring of Nigeria, Odumakin. RIP. Tinubu who crisscrossed the SW region for about 15 years campaigning for political restructuring of Nigeria, who knows what Tinubu has in mind about political restructuring of Nigeria? |
Please go tell this to your Imo state counterpart who is using past issues between him and politicians in Orlu Municipal LGA as tool to close down all government establishments in Orlu; provoked murder of innocent people in Orsu-Orlu area. |
aswani:Yes naa. It's only those chained by ethnic bigotry and religious extremism who didn't vote Peter Obi last presidential election.
|
Nemere2020:I guessed right that Imo must be among them. On TV and on X, Imo state gov wouldn't stop talking about how he attracted this and that foreign investors to Imo state. |
Shema should be Fulani. APC is Fulani property. Shema has gone home to roost. Atiku Abubakar is one of the founders of APC. Any president of Nigeria who is not Fulani was borrowed to fill a gap. |
Ejima1:Video narrator. I used to dislike Oshiomhole . But Oshiomhole telling you that you can't be delivered from poverty by Jesus is correct. Loads of people in Nigeria devote most of their time in church but little work. Oshiomhole condemned same sex carnal relationship getting legal backing. He is right. As for running Yahaya Bello, he is a test case for Tinubu's presidency. The moment Bello is allowed to escape the law under Tinubu's administration, there shall be Tsunami of stealing Nigeria dry - no prosecution. |
MIGHTYMAN82:Rifle? In the countries of those who produce rifles, you can hardly see policemen with rifles in the public; unless in situations of emergency. |
