hello people of nairaland

i am 23 years old,been dating a guy for 2 years now,we have been faithful to each other ever since.
he proposed marriage last year and i accepted,the problem started when i told my parents about him,my mom didnt like him outright because of his tribe and age (8yrs older).

After a year they finally agreed to meet him,they told him they would pray about it and call him aback.

Its been 3 months now they have told me they have not heard anything from God concerning the marriage,so i should call it quits with him.

The problem now is i can't imagine a life without him.

I have posted this thread in religious section so that my godly Nairaland users can comment.

one thing i know is that he has all the qualities of a loving husband and i can't imagine marrying anyone else.
how do i deal with my parents?

i met my lovely man two years ago,i was a student and i was invited to one of these seminars for a pyramid scheme,it sounded good to me at the time and i decided tto approach people on the street to tell them about the opportunity to make money.
i met him in a shopping center.he was with his friends,i tried to tell them about the business,his friends were not intersted but he was,i remembered him asking me some personal questions like my name,where iw as studing and so on.i gave him my card,and he promised to call me to discuss if he wanted to join the business.
i stopped the biz few months later.i never taught about it again.
some few months later i got a lovel good nite text message,i called to find out who it was and it was him,i wasnt intersted in speaking to any of my business contacts so i blew him off.
a few weeks later,i decided to call him up and hear that voice again.
he was so excited i called.he told me that he prayed that if i called him back,then i will be his wife.i laughed it off and 2 years later we are engaged.

In my opinion i will say 3 months is still a short time.
he might have used you to get over hs ex, find out the situation in which they broke up,whose fault was it.
If it was his ex`s fault,she might be calling him now to apologise,
maybe he is yielding to her plea hence the renewed feeling.
You have to let him think who he loves more,u or the ex.

no,i would try to make himm grow up too fast and believe me its too much stress.except by divine intervention.
i have to add that i have seen some younger guys who are more matured than guys in their 30s.actually mmmmmm.not sure.

agreed what everyone said,but parents are still cruical to ensure u are married,i cant see myself getting married without their approval,the question is how should i approach this situation.
they keep sayin its for the best,they have finally met and still want to get to know him more,the way they are sounding,give it another 2 to 3 yrs.put it this way,i cant wait for that long.

i am not sure of the article in punch,but i watched the oprah winfrey show where she exposed scammers,Nigerian scammers were really highlighted becasuse alot of americans,old and young fell for it.
i was truly ashamed of this as a nigerian and had to call all my nigerian friends to watch it.oprah also highlighted at the end of the show that she knows a lot of nigerians and they are not all corrupt.a few eggs they say spoil the bunch.
She also highlighted that she did nt want to receive any letters from nigerians trying to defend their integrity,she know it is just a few.
But come to think of it as a nigerian,the average nigerian is greedy and wants to get the goods things in life and dont want to work for it.
in london,the amount of yahoo boys are increasing and it is fast becoming a norm.
someone was trying to entice my lil bro of 16,i was lucky enough to notice because he asked me about it.
i really feel embarrassed sometimes to use my nigerian passport for identification because of the stereotype associated with them.

im certain i want to settle down,distance was an issue not just an excuse.
it was really weighing us down in the relationship,there were a lot of emotional distress as well associated with that.
i know my ex did love me but the issues that made us break up are still there today.so it will be stupid really taking him back
he was my first love and hence the strong attachment to make him my friend considering we were friends before we started dating.

thanks for your candid opinion,as far as i know he did date one girl after we broke up,and it didnt work out well.
we communicate at least once every week,he told me he was fine and would like us to continue as friends.i thot it was ok,and kept telling him about my new guy.
my new guy is lovely,we have been together for 23 months now and i couldnt ask for some1 better.he shldnt hear of this ooo or ill be in trouble,he advised me to cease communications long ago but i didnt.

i broke up with my ex 2 years ago,the long distance was a big issue,i found someone else,this gave me a reason to break up with him.
i have a wonderful guy now who is ready to settle down.
down the line my ex calls me up yesterday saying he gave me up too easily and did not put up a fight,now he wants to fight for what truly belongs to him.i said to him distance was a factor and will still be,he goes on to profess his undying love and hw he can't meet anyone like me.

i have noticed for a while now that most job vacancies advertised in Nigeria do not state their basic pay,is there a reason for this?
vacancies in the UK usually range from 18k-75k per annum.i am yet to discover this in a nigerian job advert or am i searching in the wrong sites?

i have been involved in a long distance relationship,it didnt work out because we wanted diff things in life and not because of the distance
agreeed u would like them to be with u 24/7 or whenever u want.but as they say distance makes the heart fonder.
there is sth this guy is not telling us,when u re ready to spill it we will continue.
