On the 6th of December, someone in my neighborhood here in Abuja had chickens for sale.

She assumed that because it was December, prices would skyrocket.

I asked how much per chicken. She said ₦20,000 fixed for one chicken.

If I wanted her to keep it till Christmas Day, I would add ₦4,000 for feed.
With full confidence and shakara.

Total: ₦24,000 non negotiable

As a farmer’s child, I say OK.

Fast forward to the Christmas period now.
The same size of chicken is now selling in the market for ₦13,000 each.

Now she’s the one chasing me up and down because chicken prices have dropped 😂

After feeding the chickens from December 6th to December 24th, she suddenly says the price is “negotiable.”

The same person that was doing shakara at ₦24k is now asking me to pay ₦13k 😂

Reality has entered. Greed showed itself.

After Christmas and New Year, we’ll buy again at ₦8k.

Most people don’t like hearing this, but life has two very different paths.

Stop comparing chapters.

As it stands, Lady B can improve skills can be upgraded, income can be created, intimacy can be worked on.

But Lady A can decline income can dry up, pressure can rise, attitude can change.

Marriage is not about who is best today, but who you can survive with tomorrow.

So the real question is:
Can you handle her worst, not just enjoy her best

It’s a sad thing that nobody is really willing to address, yet it keeps hurting students and alumni quietly.

The constant renaming of universities and federal institutions for political reasons has real consequences.

People enroll into a school with one name, build their academic identity around it, and then graduate with a completely different name on their certificate through no fault of theirs.

In my opinion, the federal or state government should only be allowed to suggest a name change, not impose it.

The final decision should rest with the people most affected which are the students currently enrolled and the alumni through a transparent poll or vote.

A university’s name is not just a signboard.

It represents stability, reputation, and the long-term value of a degree.

Changing it without student consent creates confusion locally and internationally, and quietly weakens what graduates worked hard to earn.

The truth is simple: no student applies to a university expecting its name to change midway for political reasons.

People choose institutions because of continuity and recognition.

For example, no one would willingly enroll in Sealmark University of Technology and graduate from Sheik David Yakubu University of Technology.

Not because the new name is bad, but because consistency matters.
If governments truly want to honour individuals, they can name new institutions, faculties, research centers, or scholarships after them.

Existing universities should be protected from political decisions that ignore the future of students and alumni.

That’s my opinion. I’m open to hearing other perspectives.
