What's the name of the school that gave you the admission and what's your credential that satisfied their admission requirement?
I was admitted at George Mason University Virginia, and my first degree was in Materials and production Engineering, and the propose course is Applied disaster and emergency studies, they requested for my transcript and waec result, it was screened by the admission department, and was given a second degree admission to be completed in 2 years.. though That was what I Applied for.. all thesame my First degree transcript and waec result is what they used.

Shei na school dey sponsored you.....if na school used the school letterhead

But

If is not school and your brother is working there he should used plain paper and then type on it....then his employment letter. ...pay slips.....bank statement. .....etc
Lol, am not being sponsored by a school, but it just that he is a professor and he actually used the letter head a paper of his department were he is and lectures to write my sponsorship letter..
TravelRe: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by kingfintan: 12:02pm On May 28, 2018
Please is it advisable for your sponsor to use a University letter head paper to write a sponsorship letter for you, as my elder brother who is a professor in one of the leading University in USA is my sponsor, hope it not a red flag, as CIC might say why didn’t I apply to his University were he is lecturing in the US.

Please you guys to help a brother answer some questions, great house of intellectuals, please I would like to confirm if there wount be a problem for me for submitting printed copies of Bank statement from a salary account from Santander Bank in USA as he printed them from there himself, as that was what my brother who is my sponsor waybilled to me, though he included original and stamped copy of the reference letter from the Bank stating the total funds in his account..

Secondly is it advisable for your sponsor to use a University letter head paper to write sponsorship letter as my elder brother is a Professor at a recognized university in USA.

Thirdly, have never seen anyone going for an accelerated track Bachelors degree before on this forum,as the admission I was given was a bachelors degree but an accelerated track in which I will complete the program in 2 years in lieu of the standard 4 years, due to the fact that my First degree in engineering was recognized for a second degree.. am scared as I only see masters and PGD student here.. embarassed

Lastly, my brother being a Professor in a University in USA hope it wount be a red flag for me, as cic might feel why can’t I apply to the UNiversity my brother is lecturing in the USA and why Canada.. is my sponsor legit??

Please I need answers to my questions great men of this house!

And to all TRV hopeful you shall all get it in Jesus name.

Please help a brother!

1. What can you say if asked... first option: the truth, second option: the truth, or just say the truth. Lol, on a lighter note, you can say you've been volunteering anywhere or getting set for grad school. Lying could complicate your interview. Don't tell a big lie you wouldn't be able to back up.

2. These people don't worry much about these things. They have better things to talk about than NYSC's incompetence. Again, if they ask, just say the truth. Keep your answers short and straight to the point. If you're not asked for more info, don't give more info.

Good luck sir!
Thank you very much sir!

Alright, Maybe the school you applied to did internal evaluation with your transcript to have offer you such
Yes that is Eze toy what they did, they actually evaluated my transcript.. but the truth is I truly love that course and would like to study it. But don’t know if it going to be a red flag to the visa officer, as they might be thinking I have a degree before.

Hey, look you can get into a masters program even with that CGPA. I was waiting to be done with everything before posting my story.
My undergraduate CGPA was 2.7/5, Geophysics.
2.8/4 - transcript evaluation.
That didn't stop me. I applied for fall 2017 and got back to back rejects. Just an admit from one but couldn't attend due to lack of funds.
I sat for the GRE but my score wasn't stellar either. 295...Quant 151. I didn't mind.
I applied to 9 universities this fall. 4 rejects, 5 admits with some sort of funding in some.
Everything is about packaging and knowing what you want.
Your Statement of Purpose, Recommendation letters, Resume should all be on point. And a drive to succeed on your intended course of study. E.g...if it's Geosciences or CS, what are the computer applications you can use that can make you valuable in that field. What courses have you gotten yourself trained in to make your CV attractive?.
The God factor and several other factors.
I make use of Yocket, Quora and gradcafe a lot.
Especially Yocket because there you'll get school reviews and find and connect with so many Indians with similar profiles or even lesser and you'll also be able to channel your choice of schools according to your profile.
Don't ever think you can't get into grad school with a 2.7 CGPA.
Make the internet and search box engine your friend today.
Good luck.
Thanks nitta am really calm now after reading this, and I will work towards that now.. thanks for the info.

You can apply for a master degree if your 2.2 is around 3.0 and also take your time to do the right thing by evaluating your result

It seems you are applying as a transfer student
And my cgpa was 2.71

@kingfintan University in Canada takes 2.2 don't let anyone confuse you. My friend is doing her masters in University of Ontario with 2.2 so brace up and submit your application. Just that you may not be able to get a research funded Master, and most likely probably a Meng or Masc instead of MSC.
Thank you so much ayeopare, I will do much research concerning that. Thanks

kingfintan.

I made a research concerning your course.

Fanshawe
Algonquin
Conestoga
Mohawk
Loyalist &
Confederation. These colleges offer PGD in manufacturing engineering. And I think it's almost synonymous to production engineering.

Happy Sunday all..
Thanks boss for this.. will look into it..

They don't believe anything on your SOP except it is backed with sufficient evidence. You will only be preaching to the dead. All your explanations have to be convincing beyond the reasonable doubt. Personally never seen anyone going for a second first degree approved.

Ps: However bleak I have painted the chances of success, I can actually see someone who is going for a second first degree winning a visa. A situation where you studied something you didn't like, but want to go for something else tangible based on working experience. For example someone who studied fine arts and came out and landed a job with an environmental firm and became passionate in that field and wants to study more in that area. Going for graduate school directly wont be feasible in that case and doing a first degree and acquiring the necessary prerequisite, would be the only way to go. A second degree doesn't mean you will spend another four years. You spend only two years to get a second first degree and proceed to graduate school in the area of your new found interest.
Thanks guys for the contribution and the prophecy, I shall break record in this and come back to share my testimony..as I have already began the journey and can’t go back..God will do it..

I'm not telling you not to go for the course, I'm only telling you what the VO will likely be thinking when he/she goes through your ds-160. It's your job to explain to the VO why you decided to switch. Be prepared to also explain why you're not advancing your career but going for another undergraduate degree.
Thanks so much bro for the info..

kingfintan,

Canada study visa gets tougher as the day breaks, inorder to save you from the stress of applying and getting a refusal based on purpose of visit, it is better you go for something higher than your previous academic level. A Masters degree or a PGD.

All the best!
I can’t do a master as I graduated with a 2:2, and there is no PGD course in that course.. can’t a strong SOP tackle this, as for my age it 24 and not 25 years..

Compared to Production enginnering, Appied Disaster and emergency studies is a lower course. For you to get this visa, you'll have to convincingly explain why you decided to switch to a course that does not relate to what you studied before.
Hey bro I understand you well, but looking at it from my angle it kind of related in a way because every production industry have a safety and emergency department, and you know that we engineers deal with heavy duty machines, so natural and man-made disasters are bound to happen during county operations in the factory and so many other things.. though ain’t doing it for 4 years but rather 2 years because my first degree was recognized by the university..
