I think it's best we revert back to two men upfront.. Nigeria rode on that formation to get the AFCON in 2013 and i think twas the lack of that same formation that cost us most of the time during the confederation cup

I've noticed Ideye does more in that position not of scoring though but of linking up with his partner upfront as we saw in Zambia where he gave Iheanacho that assist.

I'm not clamoring for his recall but I think we should just make an attempt on the position too to see how far it can lead us

Since we've got three strikers yesterday in the team I was expecting us to rejig to that position especially as we were chasing a goal

Talking about Mikel. This is just an eye opener of life without Mikel. Oliseh tried it and he failed. We saw it again last night.

That team was grossly lacking in experience. Look at the forwards for instance: Iheanacho, Simon, Iwobi, Etebo. None with up to 10 caps and no senior tournament experience.

That attack was evidently lacking a leader. Mikel would have been better placed to move the balls from the midfield to the attackers. Plus the cutting edge provided by V. Moses was not there. Simon was just floating useless balls expecting a miracle to happen. And Iwobi was no mobile enough plus he played too wide.

I saw an U20-like display from that team yesterday. There level of experience showed.

he was the most agile Nigerian probably but he wasn't doing his job at all. you will hardly ever see Busquets but he is doing his job and that's what the dmf position is all about, not running like a headless chicken and getting caught out of position

but why were you having problem with coming to terms with mikel style of play

Ndidi played the DM role while Onazi played the CM.

I think twas Onazi because Ndidi bumped forward more times than him

I have always criticised Onazi based on his shielding style of play. In the game against SA last time, we made a mistake of not having a standing four. This happened after Hope Akpan injured and we brought Onazi back to the midfield and we had a catastrophe.

The same problem is today. Individually the players defended well but when they were overrun especially during counters, it is difficult making the right defensive choices. Today's problem was no shielding of the defence. As for the first goal, the ball was close to Akpeyi and he messed it up. In the earlier time he dropped the ball.

You saw how Lookman played in the last match. You saw how Onomah played like a champion in the last match. Today you saw Solanke and Ojo brought to the table when going got tough. They played like champions.

The other two i didn't mention are also very good. Though, I want all of them in our National team.

From your post I quoted you said Enyeama had his breakthrough when Shorunmu was trainer so I wanted to be sure if I haven't mistaken the first choice in Korea/Japan 2002

I think Enyeama made his break through with Shorunmu as the keeper trainer. Ejide was also in fine form under Shorunmu. Agbim had the reflexes but his positioning was awful.

please who was our first choice in Korea/Japan

probably he meant as Agbim was Shorunmu's best goalkeeper then so is Akpeyi Alloy's best goalkeeper
