Chukwu Reveals How Nigeria Really Defeated Ebola Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu, the former Minister of Health has revealed how Nigeria was able to defeat the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease during its outbreak in the country. Former Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu Speaking on Tuesday in Channels Television, the ex- minister disclosed that the Federal Government adopted a method which he described as ‘double barrel’ approach to continue the fight against the disease despite the declaration by the World Health Organisation, WHO, that Nigeria is Ebola free. Chukwu further stated that the Federal Government is also not relenting in finding a cure to the virus and revealed that the ‘Treatment Group’ for the Ebola Virus Disease have been working and collecting various claims from Nigerians, scientists and others, and are currently trying to verify them via more research. He said the treatment group have selected a number of claims that they think are worth researching into and they are beginning to develop the protocol for research. He said Nigeria has now joined the rest of the world under the auspices of the World Health Organisation to help fight against the disease on the global stage. “So it is a double barrel approach; we are trying to do things within the country and we are also trying to collaborate with the international community because that is the only way to go.There must be a vaccine if the world is ever to hope that it can be able to combat it any moment and lay it to rest. f we cant get a vaccine, then we should have a specific drug developed that can be effective against the virus,” he said. Prof. Chukwu stressed the call made by the Federal Government to Nigerians not to drop their guard in maintaining preventive measures against the contained Ebola Virus Disease, noting that although the battle is won but the war is not yet won. He said Nigerians must be on alert now because it is great to succeed but it is more difficult to stay on top of that success. The ex-minister urged Nigerians to remain watchful and continue to practice all the preventive measures so far announced especially enhanced personal hygiene, enhanced sanitation, alertness at ports of entry, seaports, land crosses, airports as well as sick people going to a proper hospital for medical attention. It would be recalled that a representative of the World Health Organisation (WHO), Rui Gama Vaz, on Monday announced that Nigeria is free of the deadly Ebola Virus as no new case has so far been recorded for 42 days or two incubation period of 21 days. Vaz, added that: “This is a spectacular success story. It shows that Ebola can be contained but we must be clear that we have only won a battle, the war will only end when West Africa is also declared free of Ebola.” Ebola was imported into Nigeria by the late American- Liberia, Patrick Sawyer, who visited the country on a diplomatic assignment in July 2014. He reportedly broke down and was taken to First Consultants Hospital, Obalende in Lagos State, where he was diagnosed of the dreaded Ebola disease. Ebola has so far killed more than 4, 500 people according to the World Health Organisation, WHO. It would be recalled that the leadership of Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other major stakeholders of the party from the three geo-political zones adopted the Former Health Minister, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, as its consensus governorship candidate ahead 2015 general election. Meanwhile, before the WHO representative announced that the country is now free of Ebola disease, Chukwu, had earlier announced that Nigeria was completely free of active Ebola cases.

Racism is a very Great Challenges the Blacks are Facing within the Whites and seriously it will never stop if:- 1. Racism will never stop as long as white Cars are still using Black Tires. 2. Racism will never end as we still wash white clothes first before others. 3. Racism will never end if people still wear White clothes to Wedding and black clothes to Funerals. 4. Racism will never end as long as those who don’t pay their Bills are blacklisted not White Listed. 5. Racism will never end because even when you’re playing a Snooker game, You won’t win until you sink the Black ball and the white balls remain on the Field.. |
