There's actually a WhatsApp group link with about 58 members at the moment. I woild check and see if it's possible to get the group link. I believe I also got the link here. Hanifasule: |
Lol, yes oo. We applied this year so journey still far. Would be great if perhaps they could put more effort in making the process / system a bit more transparent. For example, how many applications are currently in the waiting list? They could also consider sending reminders to the waiting list participants. I'm sure there are some people that do not necessary need it anymore, that way it'd hopefully reduce the waiting time. hollameday: |
Last reported booking date was December 19th, 2023, receiving appointment for October 17th, 2025. Previous thread. MyAfricanBodyEn: |
Hello all, Could someone kindly assist with timeline for Visa processing for Researchers (PhD Students)? I had my interview by September 29th. Would like to know a reasonable time range to expect response from the embassy. T for Thanks. |
Are you using MTN? You could try a different network provider. Jcboy: |
Also, lest I forget, do those applying for a research visa go through the interviews like the study visa? Thank you as always. WinnyNelly: |
Was there an issue with your birth certificate? Basically, the Declaration of Age in Nigeria is a sworn affidavit, also known as a Statutory Declaration of Age, used as proof of age when a birth certificate is unavailable for purposes like school admission, obtaining a passport, or registering for other official documents. "Deposed by your parents or head of family" means they are they are the ones to attest to that. Ayooluwa45: |
Trust you are doing well today. Out of curiosity, only the documents mentioned in the checklist are require,d right? Specificall,y the original documents and some photocopies, things like the hosting agreement, health insurance are not to be printed since i already uploaded them right?. I got an AD for monday. I am asking so I do not get any surprises. Thank you. WinnyNelly: |
To the best of my understanding, each application needs to have it's own envelope. It's where your passport and other submitted documents would be placed and sent back to you. You can visit DHL offices to get this. Although from the Germany Student Visa Telegram group, It seems it is possible to get it that day also (apparently someone sells it there, not at the embassy oo, but close to there). But I would strongly recommend getting it before leaving to avoid stories that rouches the heart. advocate007: |
WinnyNelly:Hallo Hallo, Thank you for your assistance so far. Pending when the university sends the hosting agreement, I started filling the form on the CSP and oddly enough, I am not sure I saw an option to add the hosting agreement. Is that normal? Is it a case of I have to add it In the other documents section? For better illustration, I have attached the screenshot as a document of the requested documents. Also, I don't know if i mentioned it online, I had done the Dr. Walter for a year duration. Thank you again!
|
WinnyNelly:Awesome. Thank you. We were looking at a possible start date of the beginning of October. Hoping the visa processing takes a reasonable amount of time. |
WinnyNelly:Oh, I see. Then I should look at registering with Dr. Walter now also then. If it is not too much trouble, could you share the process or package you'd recommend and cost? Any other tips you would recommend. I would have asked to continue in the DM but I imagine this would also be beneficial for all. Thank you so much again. |
WinnyNelly:Yes, I just got a mail from the university even asking if I would be needing a hosting agreement. So I am also in the process of gathering all the documents. Wanted to atleast have everything on ground. I was able to create the account on CSP. Also, I got this from the school: "Please inform me if you need a „hosting agreement“ for the embassy. This is a complicated process here at university. So if you will need it for embassy please inform me very early because here I need some time for it. But for display for this document we need a health insurance or a travel health insurance that says that when you are in germany before your employment at university starts, that you have a health insurance in this time, also I will need your passport document. I would like to inform you that I got the information from a canditate in the past (also from Nigeria) that it could be that embassy need a special health insurance, so that travel helath insurance is maybe not the correct one, please ask here the embassy which health insurance you will need for the entry." By chance, could you kindly assist? Not quite sure I fully understnad. Thank Youuuuuu. |
WinnyNelly:Thank you so much, I am doing it now. I saw that Lagos was actually clickable. I had mistakenly thought it was the same with Abuja. |
WinnyNelly:Hello WInnyNellly, Exactly. I know Germany does not treat PhD research as studies but rather as work, hence the confusion. I did see this though (https://digital.diplo.de/navigator/ru/visa/overview/promotion) which says "If you wish to get a PhD in Germany and you have already been accepted into a PhD programme, you can apply for a study visa if you can proof that you have enough financial means to cover your living expenses." I am still waiting for the final documents from the school but considering that there is always a waiting time, I was hoping that I am able to get an appointment pending when the documents from the school arrive any moment from now. I am not able to register on the CSP (https://app.digital.diplo.de/login). It says to choose a "Service" first, which upon clicking leads me here (https://digital.diplo.de/). I selected visa (https://digital.diplo.de/visa). I clicked on Studies and it led me here - https://digital.diplo.de/studium. Unfortunately, it says online application not yet available. Hence why I am not able to register on the CSP Portal. Perhpas you have an idea how to go about this? Or I am missing something? Thank you. pineapplejuice:

Hello House, Can someone kindly assist with sharing the link to make appointments for PhD Research positions. I have gone through the thread (up to about 30 pages back), I kept seeing mention of categories, old and new link etc and have not made any progress yet. This page seems the most promising but I cannot find the category of a researcher there : https://service2.diplo.de/rktermin/extern/choose_realmList.do?locationCode=lago&realmId=347 Thank you in anticipation of your response. |
Hello, thank you for your response. I was going through the thread as this is something my wife intends doing. Could you kindly share more details about the having to go to a second country and applying after 6 months? Not quite sure I understand. Any tips in general for those applying in 2025 would be really appreciated. Thank you. magnificient7: |
What's good guys..? I'd like to give a breakdown of the process involved with the Dufil Graduate Trainee Program as I experienced it. So I got the link from a friend on the 12th of March 2021. The deadline for the application was 17th March 2021. On the 18th of March, I received a mail from Dragnet; Informing me that my application was successful and I would need to take the exam. I took the Dragnet Exam on the 22nd March 2021, the questions were based on three categories; - Qualitative Analysis - Quantitative Analysis - Logic The next step was an Email Invitation I received on 26th March for a "Written Interview" at the Head Office in Lagos. The date for the interview was 31st March. By His Grace and Mercy, I was able to make it to Lagos for the written interview. It basically involved a set of 60 questions to be solved under an hour. The questions are roughly distributed like this: - Quantitative (Math) - 42.5% - Qualitative (English) - 42.5% - Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology - 12 .5% - Others (Facts, World knowledge) - 7.5% Currently, I'm waiting for feedback from Dufil as regards the next steps. Fingers crossed. ![]() UPDATE! After the written interview, I was fortunate to be shortlisted for the next oral interview scheduled to hold April 14th. The oral interview was pretty much the standard interview. It was roughly about: - Your CV - Knowledge about the company - Sell yourself Days later I received a mail inviting me for the final stage interview with the C.O.O of the company. The date was five days after the oral interview. After the interview, we were congratulated for making it to the final stage and that's when we were given the good news. All praise and thanks indeed belong to Almighty God. That pretty much wraps everything up! |

Any update on this..? |
Good Morning House, So I intend applying for scholarships and admissions this year with the hope of it been approved late this year or early next year as I am currently undergoing my NYSC. I have one question, from the previous posts it would seem one has to have a great deal of money to proceed (in the millions range). If hopefully I am able to secure a scholarship, do I need to still have up to those amounts..? Thanks in anticipation of your replies. |
What about students that are studying industrial and environmental chemistry..? Well not now of course like later... Would they be able to apply..? |
Osemigho:Alright, lemme go check em out. But do you have any idea if those scholarships are applicable to private university students..? |
mcobex:Alright, thanks alot. Would check it out... |
So I was surfing the net earlier today and I saw this thread, amazed of the fact that it has 12 parts I must say. I want to apply for an international scholarship, preferably in Canada. Intended programme is Bsc. Chemical Engineering... Am in year 2 in a Nigerian university, currently studying Industrial and environmental chemistry. Completed sec school in 2015. Would appreciate you guys help. Thanks as you reply. And yes! I've done my research but I seem to be getting nowhere... |
