As severe economic crisis hits most parts of Africa, Airtel may decide to exit Africa.


According to Bloomberg, Airtel “ is considering mergers or stake sales at some of its Africa operations as it looks to cut debt and make its biggest overseas acquisition profitable.”

At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Mr. Mittal, the chairman of Bharti Airtel, said this process would be completed within a year and would affect some of Bharti’s businesses in 15 African nations, including Nigeria.



It's been a very bad year for Airtel. They lost $91 million in the quarter of September 2016.

In order to reduce the debt, Airtel is considering selling a stake in Bharti Infratel Ltd., its tower unit. A committee was studying whether the sale would be a minority stake or control of the tower unit and a decision could be taken in a month.

One question comes to my mind though?

Is this why Airtel refused to roll out 4G service with other Nigerian Telcos. They were planning to leave. What do we have here

Microsoft is in the news again – for the wrong reasons, again. In its latest act of invasive pushiness of its own products onto our Windows 10 desktops, Microsoft has made an annoying little notification icon that pops up above the Chrome icon in your taskbar, promoting a Chrome extension that will compare prices for you using Microsoft’s “Personal Shopping Assistant.”

Naturally, this has left people frustrated, and it has me thinking about all the other sneaky little ways Microsoft bombs us with advertising and how to stop the onslaught.

Disable Lock Screen Ads
Much like the recently snuck-in “Personal Shopping Assistant” ad, Microsoft added in lock screen ads in an update in February 2016. To be fair to them, it was hardly being “sneaky,” as there’s no way you’re not going to notice a giant ad for MineCraft or Tomb Raider taking up your entire lock screen, but Microsoft had the audacity not to even label these things as ads.

Instead, they’re called “fun facts, tips and more.” To get rid of them, click “Start -> Settings -> Lock screen,” and change your background from “Slideshow” to “Spotlight” or “Picture.” Or, if you like your slideshows, keep that as your background, but switch the “Get fun facts, tips and more from Windows and Cortana on your lock screen” slider off.

Get Rid of the “Get Office” Notifications
There’s not much wrong with a “Get Office” app existing within Windows so long as it doesn’t get in your way. But like so many things on Windows 10, it does get in your way, sliding in from the sides of the screen when you least want it to. To get rid of it, click Start, type “get office,” then right-click “Get Office” and click uninstall.

Block Start Menu Ads
In a bid to promote its Windows App Store, Microsoft by default throws suggestions for apps you can download into live tiles on your Start menu. It’s a pretty sad state of affairs when the Start menu – an aspect of Windows 10 that users were so excited to see make a return after its absence from Windows 8 – becomes a self-promoting ad board for Microsoft, but at least it’s easy to get rid of.

To get rid of app suggestions in your Start menu, click Start (say your final goodbye to those pesky app suggestions in the live tiles), then click “Settings -> Start” and de-select the option for “Occasionally show suggestions in Start.”

Remove Your Advertising ID Footprint
We’re moving into privacy territory here, but then there’s a lot of crossover between that and advertising, so I’m taking the liberty. Microsoft tracks your movement across its Windows apps and any web browser on your PC. To turn off your advertising ID so Microsoft can’t track you across Windows apps, go to “Settings -> Privacy -> General,” then turn off the slider for “Let apps use my advertising ID for experiences across apps.”

To get rid of browser-tracking for targeted ads, go to this page on the Microsoft website, scroll down, and turn off the slider for “Personalised ads in this browser.”

You can try placing the ads above the fold, in the middle of your posts and on the side bar. Adsense also has a feature that allows you block specific ads from your site so if you're running a tech blog for example you can block categories that aren't related to your niche.

Samsung has officially announced results of its fire investigation and just as we all expected, the phone's battery was to blame.

The company compiled 200,000 phones and 30,000 separate batteries, employing 700 people dedicated to the cause, and found that neither the phone's fast charging feature, nor its waterproofing, had any correlation to the likelihood of conflagration.


According to AndroidCentral DJ Koh, Samsung's president of mobile, the incidents were caused by the battery cell and no outlying piece of hardware and software. "We provided the target for the battery specifications for the innovative Note7, and we are taking responsibility for our failure to ultimately identify and verify the issues arising out of battery design and manufacturing process prior to the launch of the Note7,"

As reported last week, the batteries built by Samsung SDI, referred to as Battery A, had a defect in the top right of the lithium ion grouping, and in some cells, caused fire through repeated charge and discharge.





The batteries from Amperex, the Hong Kong-based facility that built the batteries for the second group of Note 7s, referred to as Battery B, had a defect in the top left portion of the cell that caused short circuits in a small number of units. In addition, Samsung says some of these batteries didn't have the necessary insulation to protect overheating from spreading to the rest of the battery in a short circuit scenario.


Through the investigation, Samsung worked with a number of independent organizations, including UL, Exponent, and TUV Rheinland, to build an eight-step battery safety check that will be implemented throughout the company's manufacturing processes in the future in order to prevent any such problems from happening again.

Full-Fledged Desktop Hardware in Laptops

A major advancement being touted in laptop hardware is … desktop hardware. The highest-end laptops, especially gaming-oriented laptops, are now shipping with full-blown desktop CPUs, GPUs and even mechanical keyboards. In fact, some are offering full-blown 22-inch displays, while Razer’s Project Valerie is a triple display laptop.

In previous years, laptops were often well behind the power curve of the latest in desktop parts and simply couldn’t offer things like fully-mechanical keys or desktop-class hardware. From 2017 and onward, though, this has clearly changed. While I’d still recommend building a PC for the best value proposition, laptops have made some huge leaps forward in both pricing and hardware.

Intel’s Kaby Lake and AMD’S Ryzen Architectures

Intel Kaby Lake is another iterative upgrade of the latest Intel CPUs. The last major advancement in Intel CPUs was seen in 2013 with their Haswell architecture. The upgrades since then have been iterative, focusing on shrinking down power consumption and thermal performance while also marginally boosting processing power. While this may not sound huge, Intel’s been leading the CPU market in terms of performance for some time now, and the more powerful and heat-efficient their chipsets get, the cooler your laptops will be and the longer they’ll run on battery.

Meanwhile, AMD’s Ryzen architecture is their first new CPU architecture since 2011 with the Bulldozer series. Alongside Ryzen comes massive performance, power and cooling improvements, as well as new AM4 motherboards and sockets to support the processors. AMD plans on shipping Ryzen-equipped laptops in the latter half of 2017 which should encourage better pricing for the end user through real competition between AMD and Intel for the first time in years.

Hybrid Laptop Advancements

Hybrid laptops have technically been around for a little while, but they’re seeing huge improvements this year. While the high end of gaming laptops is focused on stuffing as much desktop-class hardware into a tiny chassis as possible, most consumer-grade ultrabooks are aiming for the hybrid laptop standard innovated by the Lenovo Yoga laptop of yesteryear.

Hybrid laptops offer touchscreens for tablet functionality as well as screens that can completely pivot or even lay down atop the keyboard to turn the laptop into a de-facto tablet. The possibilities of the hybrid form factor for laptop computers are numerous and allow laptops to compete with straight-up tablets in a unique way by allowing all the same accessibility and convenience with the raw power of a proper laptop.

USB Type-C and USB 3.1 Are Now Standard

Last but certainly not least, USB-C is finally the standard. USB-C combines the speeds of the USB 3.0 with a new, smaller form factor that allows devices to be inserted without ever needing to be flipped over. (And so, the eternal crisis of dealing with USB sticks has ended, at least if you’re using this format!)

Meanwhile, USB 3.1, while expensive, is blowing away our old expectations for data transfer standards with a whopping 10 gigabit/second data transfer rate.

USB-C, however, is definitely more important. This is because it allows for rapid charging of mobile devices, from smartphones to laptops. If your device supports USB-C charging, and many do, you can expect longer battery life and shorter charge times than ever before.

While 3.1 is cool and all, the most it offers besides faster transfer rates is the ability to utilize more external displays or other peripherals for the laptop. Ultimately, though, newer Thunderbolt standards still have 3.1 beat when it comes to those applications.



Conclusion
There’s a lot to look forward to in 2017. Say what you like about 2016, but the world of tech and the world at large are making huge strides forward.

I have always wanted to own a sensibly unique blog which would contribute to already existing knowledge. On this note, I’d like to advise anybody intending to own a blog to desist from it, if what they want to blog about won’t add value.

4. I immediately searched google for websites that can help someone generate a comprehensive privacy policy page, while I did the contact us and about me page myself. According to my findings these are the 3 most important pages to have on a website or blog.

5. Create a social media profile for your blog. This indicates that your blog is now a separate entity from who you are. After creating this profiles, ensure you link them to the blog.

With the right kind of investment in technological platforms and the overwhelming support of the government in providing the requisite enabling environment, Nigeria can effortlessly produce global billionaires from the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.
This much was disclosed by Leo Stan Ekeh, chairman, Zinox Group, in an interview feature with renowned media outfit, Cable News Network (CNN) which has received significant mention since it was first aired in the first week of January 2017.

Serial digital entrepreneur, Ekeh who has built arguably Africa’s most integrated ICT conglomerate – the Zinox Group – is confident that with significant investment in ICT, the challenge of youth unemployment, inadequate opportunities and growing restiveness among the youth can be arrested.


For this to happen, however, the government has to actively engage the youths by investing massively in ICT which, in his opinion, has become the fancy of young people.
Ekeh is a firm believer in the numerous opportunities which abound in the rapidly evolving ICT-driven future – a knowledge economy in which wealth is no longer the exclusive preserve of a privileged few.

“The miracle of ICT is that it is the only profession in the world today that can make the child of a poor man the richest man in the world. The challenge, however, is that majority of our youths are in a closed community in which the standards are still poor so they cannot exhibit their innate intellectual strength. As a result, they are seen as defeated and a lot of them are unemployed.

“We are doing our bit to correct this situation but government support will go a long way in helping the country achieve more. Presently, Zinox is building digital training centres and tech hubs across the country and empowering many of our youths. We have also committed some significant investment in a number of tech start-ups. Recently, we invested in an Ibadan-based software company – Xputer. Interestingly, some of the apps being created by the young chaps Xputer are driving the business processes of the major e-commerce outfits in the country. All they needed was a bit of exposure and support to help them scale up.

“The same situation applies to many of our youth. Today, if you give these youths the right platforms, which I must say is not expensive, Nigeria can produce a minimum of 10 billionaires from the ICT sector in the next few years.”

“Ninety percent of youths today want to go into trending professions; lifestyle professions and that is what ICT really is. If government invests in this sector as it should, Nigeria is capable of producing several billionaires straight out of the technology space”, he added.

Ekeh is the founder and chairman of the Zinox Group, a technology company based in Nigeria that manufactures and distributes computers at home and abroad. Zinox employs 1,800 Nigerians and Ekeh thinks the company can play a role in improving the tech economy, while tapping into Nigeria’s young population.by pioneering several successful technology start-ups and taking them to the zenith of marketplace competition.

She is a hacker and former playmate . An old friend of hers decided to pose on the internet as her and started taking money for doing so.

This did not go down well with her. If there was anyone who was going to be making money off her body, it was going to be her.

She came across an unauthorized website with her pictures, then she took matters into her own hands and hacked into the account herself to take them down the photos.


After the successful attempts, Cooke also used her hacking skills to help others in similar situations
She was also known as the "Hacker Fairy" to other women being taken advantage of on the Internet.


Ying Cracker

Ying teaches people the basics of hacking; things like changing your IP address or wiping Office passwords

Who doesn't want to learn how to hack from a beautiful chic ?


She was first noticed in a Chinese Hackers' forum post that got her noticed and created a huge fan base for her.

Her work is quite impressive as well. She's an expert in writing hacking software and charges a lot of money for simple courses on hacking tools.

She usually makes about $2000 per month in the hacking business and for that, she certainly deserves your respect.


Kristina Svenchiskaya

Kristina was a student at The New York University and is a money mule hacker.

She attempted to defraud several British and U.S. banks of millions of dollars using a Trojan horse malware. With collective team efforts, she earned a sum of more than $3 million by opening fake bank accounts and using fake passports.

Kristina was later arrested in 2011 but released after signing a bond and paying $25,000 as bail.

If she had been convicted, she could have been imprisoned for more than 40 years.


Raven Adler

Ravel Alder is certainly s one of the most gifted and intelligent hackers who's using her education for good use. She was the first female to give a presentation at DefCon, one of the worlds most prestigious gatherings of hackers .

She currently helps corporations protect their data and other sensitive information. She is also a consultant, lecturer and author who deals in hacking and computer security.


Kim Vanvaeck

Kim also known as Gigabyte, the Belgium national is well known for developing many high caliber viruses that target hardwares and subsequently destroy sensitive information.


She wrote her first virus when she was 14. She wrote the viruses not to gain money but to cement her position in a group of hackers that are dominated by men. She wanted to prove to the world that women too can write viruses and can be dangerous hackers, unlike what the world knows it to be. Her virus, Sharp, is credited to being the first virus ever written in C Sharp.


Vanvaeck was later arrested when she was aged 17 but was out on bail in 24 hours due to her minor status.


Xiao Tian

Tian formed the female hacking group called “China Girl Security Team,” as she felt that there was no other outlet for teenage girls like her in the male-dominated world of hacking.

Her group has ties with some of the most notorious hacking organisations in the world and has become one of the largest Chinese-based hacking groups.


As with most well-known and outspoken groups of this nature, Tian and the rest of China Girl Security Team continue to receive attention from national and international police organizations due to their activities.


Anna Chapman

Anna was a Russian hacker who lived in New York City before she was arrested, along with nine others in 2010. She was accused of working for the Illegals Program spy ring under the Russian Federation’s external intelligence agency.

Chapman pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U.S. Attorney General, and was deported to Russia, as part of a prisoner swap. She also lost her U.S. citizenship.

Naija Craziest, a fast-rising comedy group, have been arrested for mocking members and pastor of the popular, Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries in their latest skit.

Members of the Naija Craziest comedy group; Mc Toothpick, Laff Mayor, Mc Tutalk and Mc Samorano, were reportedly arrested by the police in Lagos for their part in the production of a video skit tagged Naija’s Craziest – Episode 144, which is available on Youtube.

The comedians were apprehended after their video went viral and are currently cooling in Panti waiting due charges laid against them.

The YouTube video shared footages of Lord’s Chosen members dancing and rolling themselves in the mud while worshiping God, with the caption; “When members of a church think that an apron is powerful enough to protect them, they will roll in the mud and confront armed robbers.”

Thereafter, it opens, showing a group of Christian worshippers, presumably members of the church, wearing olive green aprons and singing loudly and dancing in a muddy street. One of them, a male, rolls on the ground and in a pool of muddy water that lies between the camera and the singing mass.





While the scene continues to run in the background, the comedians appear on the screen, one after another and criticise members of the church for their conduct in public. Beginning with Mc Toothpick, they attack the latter for “preaching and constituting a nuisance” to the public.

In the video, Mc Tutalk mocks further, insinuating a plot to deceive the members of the church with the idea of a spiritual and protective apron that sells for N1000 each. According to him, if all the members, numbering 200,000, buy an apron each, the total sum realized would be N200 million.

The case was reported to the police, and members of the group arrested after the attention of the church and its G.O were brought to the viral video.

The comedy group formally announced the arrest of its members on its Facebook page disclosing that the arrested comedians were being detained at the state Criminal and Investigative Department in Panti and urged fans of the comedy group to share the post.



Naija Craziest Facebook statement reads; “We would like to inform our fans concerning the arrest of the Naija’s Craziest Crew by the state CID Panti. The arrest came as a result of a report filed by the Lords Chosen Church G.O. over a comedy video satirising the church members rolling in the mud.”

The group further described the arrests as an attack on the comedians’ rights to freedom of speech, stating thus; “It is amazing that you can be arrested over a comedy video that has a disclaimer at the beginning.”

I’ve got some tea on Rihanna and Chris Brown. When they were both recently in New York, my friend, who works at TAO, saw them together.
The night before they were seen at the same club, my friend who works in TAO (the restaurant Rihanna visited the night before…) saw Rihanna walk in and take her seat up stairs in a secluded area.

Also note that Chris Brown was in a studio RIGHT NEXT DOOR and the restaurant has an entrance to the studio.

A couple moments after Rihanna sat down, Chris Brown came through from the studio entrance. Obviously my friend had a job to do so she couldn’t just stand there and stare at them, but all she could tell me was that they had dinner with other people present at the table. Afterward she saw Rih & Chris go down to the studio together through the entrance.

My friend told me she didn’t see much because she was working, but said for the moment she did see them at the table, they looked very comfortable around each other.
