An Imo-based civil society group, Dream Imo, has urged Nigerians to disregard the claims that Presidents Donald Trump and Muhammadu Buhari exchanged banters on phone yesterday.
The group said this in a statement issued by its chief convener, Emmanuel Nzenwa, on Tuesday.

According to Nzenwa, Trump could not have called Buhari who was reportedly out of office receiving medical attention in London, describing the purported call as diplomatic blunder.
He said that since the phone call was not personal, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, was, at the moment, empowered to take state calls from any world leader.
Nzenwa further questioned why the media was not allowed to monitor the call, citing the calls between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin of Russia, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and others that were monitored by CNN.
He added that CNN in reporting the phone call did not report authoritatively but quoted the press statement issued by Buhari’s Special Adviser on Media, Femi Adesina.
The activist said: “It is a huge insult to associate the President of America with such a big diplomatic blunder. How can Donald Trump call a man who is temporary out of service for medical attention and be discussing diplomatic issues with him? The power of Mr President has been vested in the vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo the day the president transmitted a letter to the national assembly empowering him! The power to act is no more on Mr President until he transmits another letter to the same national assembly for retrieval of power and resumption of duty!

“Whenever former President Barack Obama of the United States of America was on vacation, he ceased from performing the functions of his office. Any calls on diplomatic issues which never went to him any way, would be redirected to the seat of power, the white house for the then vice President Joe Biden who was acting on his behalf! At that moment in time, the power of the President was on Joe Biden and not on Obama! Obama could only retrieve his power from Joe Biden through a letter to their national assembly. Without that letter, he didn’t have the power to perform!
“So it would be an absurdity of the century for Trump to call President Buhari who is on leave now. According to the rule of engagement for international diplomacy, Trump would rather call the Vice President who is now acting on behalf of the president. Seat of power calls seat of power! It is assumed that the one on the seat of power for now is the acting President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo. The handlers of our President are making Trump look stupid by saying he called a President on a medical vacation. Don’t they understand what vacation (leave) means? Vacation means “Don’t act anymore until the national assembly receives a letter from you for resumption. In fact it would amount to an impeachable offence for any President on vacation to act without such letter of resumption first! We cannot have two persons performing the same function of the President at the same time!
“By the way, this is a man who has failed to address his fellow country men and women regarding a death rumour associated with his vacation! Nigerians in UK sought audience with him for just 5 minutes to no avail! No television appearances whatsoever. What then is the rationale behind such interaction with the US President? Wouldn’t it have been better for him to address concerned Nigerians first?
“No wonder the world leading media agency, Cable News Network (CNN) chose to quote Mr. Femi Adesina instead of the white house. This reminds me of this question: Which media agency monitored that call? Don’t forget that Trump’s call to Vladimir Putin of Russia, Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel and others were monitored by CNN and others. Hence they reported them authoritatively without quoting any person. When he had a conversation with Taiwanese President, Tsai Ing-wen, it was also monitored by CNN and others. That was why we all felt the heat it generated when China kicked!

Nigerian Senate says it will deliberate over President Muhammadu Buhari’s request to extend his 10-day vacation in UK on February 21.

Aliyu Sabi, spokesperson of the senate, made this known to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.
He also confirmed the receipt of the President’s letter
Sabi said that the letter did not specify when the president would return to the country.
President Buhari on Sunday wrote to the National Assembly informing it of his desire to extend his leave.
He had been expected back into the country on February 5th.
The extension, he said, is “in order to complete and receive the results of a series of tests recommended by his doctors.”
The statement did not say how much extra time Buhari was seeking off.
Since his absence,Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assumed Presidency of the Country.
The Vice President has assured the nation that President Buhari is hale and hearty and is expected to return home soon.
President Buhari’s absence in the country has deepened suspicions among many Nigerians that his health is worse than officials are admitting publicly.
Sabi said further that he was not privy to when the letter was transmitted to the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki.
The spokesman said that the senate would deliberate on the letter upon resumption on February 21.
It is not clear if the senate would still proceed with the deliberation should the president arrive before then.
Sabi urged Nigerians to exercise patience with the present government as it was making efforts to provide succour to them.
He also assured Nigerians that the senate was not relenting in helping the executive to boost the nation’s economy.
Hundreds marched through Lagos on Monday calling for a change of government, a rare show of public dissent reflecting worry over Buhari’s absence and a sputtering economy.
Some fear a rerun of the unstable three months in 2010 when then-president Umaru Yar’Adua’s illness was shrouded in secrecy before he died, after which Vice President Goodluck Jonathan was sworn in.
Buhari’s extended leave could further erode confidence in his administration, already under pressure from investors to let Nigeria’s currency float freely to try to revive an oil-driven economy now is at its weakest in 25 years.
Some Nigerians took to social media demanding more details on the president’s health.
As rumours swirled last month that Buhari was gravely ill, his office urged Nigerians to disregard what it said were false and subversive messages.
Buhari also spent nearly two weeks in London last June for treatment for an ear infection, stoking concerns for his health now.

An extensive investigation carried out by SUNDAY PUNCH revealed that many of the country’s prosperity-preaching, between N25,000 and N45,000 a month.
Their senior pastors are known to be extremely wealthy, own private jets, maintain luxury homes in the country and abroad, and send their children to some of the best schools in the world.

According to our correspondent, full-time pastors, in addition to preaching/teaching during midweek services, Sunday services are also expected to perform other sundry duties affording them little time for other business.

Full-time area pastors earn a minimum salary of N40k, while full-time provincial pastors, N85k. An area pastor is in charge of about six parishes while a provincial pastor is in charge of about 100 parishes or a state.

Following report given ,The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday 1, February 2016 arraigned one Prince Spencer Adikibi, before Justice U.N. Agomoh of the Federal High Court, sitting in Port Harcourt on a 2 count charge bordering on forgery.



The complainant, MTN Nigeria Communications Limited alleged that sometimes in 2008 the defendant, a former staff of MTN, a Based Transceiver Station (BTS) land acquisition officer in Port Harcourt allegedly forged and signed a renewal of Tenancy Mast Space Document to one Allwell Onyeotito, the landlord of the said property where MTN Mast was erected.
According to investigation, the lease was meant for 10 years which was paid for by MTN but the defendant in a bid to defraud the complainant, forged and utter the company’s documents, thereby shortening the period of the contract to Five Years and diverted the balance of the funds for his personal use.



Count one reads: “that you Prince Spencer Adikibi on or about the 1st of April, 2008 at Port Harcourt within the Jurisdiction of this honourable Court did forge a document titled “ RENEWAL OF TENANCY OF MAST SPACE OF OUR MOBILE TELECOMMUNICATION FACILITY ON YOUR PROPERTY” purporting same to have been signed and issued by MTN Nigeria Communication Limited with the intent that it may be acted upon as genuine and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1 (1) (c) of the Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17 of the Revised Edition (Laws of the Federation of Nigeria) 2007 and Punishable under Section 1 (2) of the same Act.
The defendant pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.



In view of his plea, the prosecution counsel, A. Osu asked the court to fix a date for trial. The defense counsel, J.N.C. Anderson pleaded with the court to grant her client bail.
Justice Agomoh granted the defendant bail in the sum of Two hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000,00). She also ordered that he should deposit the originals of his Law Degree and Call to Bar certificates with the Registrar of the Court pending the determination of the case.The case was adjourned to the 11th, 12th, 13th, & 14th April, 20017 for trial.
