According to TMZ, Arnold Schwarzenegger has sold his Bugatti Veyron for $2.5 million. The Hollywood  star and former Governor of California only had about 1,000 miles on the 2015 Bugatti, which can go from zero to 60 in 2.5 seconds.

Schwarzenegger, 70, reportedly sold the car to California luxury auto dealer Obi Okeke, who plans on eventually reselling it.

According to the Business Insider, the founder of Fusion Luxury Motors in North Los Angeles, Okeke is best known for being the "go-to" luxury auto dealer for boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather.

"When you're in the business for as long as I've been, you meet a lot of people. When I came here, people knew about me. I've been very fortunate to build a deep client database for finding cars"  Okeke said to the Business Insider in 2015.

Mayweather had purchased at least 40 cars from Okeke, including Koenigsegg CCXR Triveta from Okeke for $4.8 million, the Business Insider said in 2015.

Cameras reportedly caught Schwarzenegger strolling down the street in Los Angeles on Monday after the car deal went down, according to London's Daily Mail.

No, it wasn’t logistical reasons that forced the First Lady to ‘regrettably’ not accompany her husband, unless the logistics were that she just couldn’t force her legs to walk next to him onto a plane and then to any number of fancy Davos events.

Who could blame Melania for not being able to fake a smile as well as leg movements by the side of her husband, when just days before, the news had broken that he had an alleged affair with a porn star, four months after she had given birth to the couple’s son Barron, now 11.

The alleged affair with Stormy Daniels went on for 11 months and Trump’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, allegedly gave her $130,000 in exchange for her silence, just weeks before the 2016 election. Since the bombshell news broke, Stormy has been splashed all over the news and gave an interview on Inside Edition on Jan. 25, while InTouch magazine printed an old interview with her in which she talked about sex with Trump, and quoted him telling her not to worry about his wife, Melania.



If Melania had jauntily flown off to Davos with Donald, it actually would have seemed down right weird, in light of the Stormy scandal. Why wouldn’t Melania be hurt, humiliated, furious, freaked for her son, Barron, and deeply embarrassed in front of the world? Any woman would be.

Popular controversial Nigerian senator Dino Melaye might have also become a dreamer, LOL.

The senator, via his official Instagram page released a video mocking his long time enemy who is the governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello.

For a long time now both men have been at loggerheads and do not pass up any opportunity to attack each other.

A young woman was raped and murdered by her “obsessed” uncle before her body was padlocked in a deep freezer, a court heard.

Celine Dookhran, 20, was kidnapped along with a second woman by Mujahid Arshid, 33, and his employee Vincent Tappu, 28, who took them to a six-bedroom house that Arshid, a builder, had been working at, the Old Bailey heard.

There they were raped and their throats cut in what prosecutors described as a “horrific crime” on July 19 last year.

Arshid considered dissolving the bodies in acid or hiding them in a chest-high freezer he installed two days before, it was claimed.

The second woman managed to survive and raised the alarm from hospital, leading to the discovery of Miss Dookhran’s body.

Opening the prosecution case, Crispin Aylett QC warned jurors: “The evidence that gives rise to those charges is, I am afraid, simply horrific. You will have to steel yourselves for what is to come.”

Mr Aylett said Arshid had become “obsessed” with Miss Dookhran but knew that she was having a sexual relationship with her boyfriend, a Libyan Muslim.

The following day, on July 19, Arshid and his accomplice Tappu burst into Miss Dookhran’s room, stuffing socks into both women’s mouths, which they also covered with tape. Their hands and feet were tied together and each of them was wrapped in a builder’s dust sheet.”

Arshid scooped up clothes, underwear and phones to give the “entirely false” impression Miss Dookhran had run away, it was claimed.

Mr Aylett said the women were taken from the house wrapped in dust sheets and put in the boot of the Arshid’s pick up truck. Tappu played no further part, jurors were told.
The court heard that Arshid had the set of keys to a six-bedroomed detached house between Wimbledon and Kingston where he had been working and took the women there, tying them to pipes in the utility room.

 He allegedly took the second victim – who cannot be named for legal reasons – upstairs and raped her, before doing the same thing to Miss Dookhran.
Mr Aylett said: “In the bathroom of that house, he cut Celine’s throat, most likely with the lock knife.

“With her mouth still stuffed with a sock, Celine died from the combined effect of the restriction of her airwaves and the blood that she lost.”

The court heard Arshid then took the second woman, in her 20s, upstairs and cut her throat, telling her she would be “dead within ten minutes”.

He put Celine’s body into the deep freezer and locked it with a padlock but the second woman survived and was later taken to hospital, where she gave the police details who then found the house and Miss Dookhran’s body.

Arshid, of no fixed abode, was arrested the same night in Folkestone, Kent, where he had fled to.

He denies murder, attempted murder, two counts of kidnap, two counts of rape, two counts of conspiracy to falsely imprison another, possessing a firearm with intent – a Taser.

He also denies one count of sexual assault, and one count of assault by penetration, involving the second woman between November 2008 and November 2010.

Tappu, of Acton, west London, denies two counts of kidnap, two counts of conspiracy to falsely imprison another, and one count of possessing a firearm with intent.

A monarch in Taraba State and 28 others were killed during the week in fresh attacks by Fulani herdsmen.

The attacks, which took place between Tuesday and Wednesday, occurred while the dust was yet to settle on herdsmen attacks on some Benue communities early in the year, which resulted in the death of about 70 residents.

Many other people were said to have been injured in the Taraba incidents while scores of other people were displaced after their homes were torched by the invaders.

No fewer than nine people were cruelly killed in separate attacks in Gishiri, Dooshima and Danwaza villages of Taraba State while another attack by the herdsmen on Karmen village, Ibi Local Government Area, left the traditional ruler, Zaki Gabriel Ukovur, dead.

Eleven people, including women and children, were feared killed in Wukari and six others in Gassol.

The Taraba State Broadcasting Service (TSBS) had reported yesterday that two people were killed on Tuesday when gunmen attacked Donnada village in Lau Local Government area where a mass burial of more than 68 persons took place.

The caretaker chairman of Ibi Local Government Council, Bala Bako, who confirmed the attacks and killings to newsmen in a telephone, said the killers operate on the same network as the Fulani gunmen who attacked Logo and Guma local government areas of Benue State in the New Year, killing about 73 people.

In Ibi Local Government Area, Bako said, the gunmen struck when the people of the area had gathered for a security meeting.

He explained that worried by incessant attacks by Fulani militants and other security challenges, the people had converged to seek a solution, but the meeting had hardly begun when some Fulani marauders emerged from the bush and launched a deadly attack on the people.

Bako said: “We are having security challenges in Ibi Council, and we have been making efforts to ensure that all the ethnic groups in our domain accommodate one another and live together peacefully.

“The chief (traditional ruler) of Ibi was able to set up a committee that was sitting to find a lasting solution to the problem. It was in one of the meetings that the Fulani gunmen attacked and killed the monarch.

“The people had gathered and were waiting for us for the security meeting when suddenly an armed Fulani man emerged and started shooting. The local chief was killed during the attack.”

Despite wielding guns, eyewitnesses said, the attackers used sticks to hack the monarch to death in a gruesome manner.

“It was dreadful,” one resident said.

The council chairman said he mobilised security men who went and evacuated the corpse.

Bako shares the same view with Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, that the killer herdsmen invaded Taraba from Nasarawa State.

“We share border with Benue and Nasarawa states, and most times, these Fulanis cross over from Nasarawa to attack and go back.

“We are trying to close all the routes they have been using to attack us.

“The killings in Dooshima and Gishiri, near Sarkin Kudu, were also done by the group which attacked Benue.

“On their way back to Nasarawa, they have been killing anyone they meet on the way,” he said.

Confirming the attacks in a telephone conversation with our correspondent yesterday, Taraba State governor, Darius Ishaku, said some communities were being attacked by herdsmen in the state even as he spoke.

“How can you be killing people because of grasses or cows?” he wondered.

“Yesterday, they attacked and killed innocent people in Taraba without provocation. Today, an hour ago, they attacked some communities and killed people. Is that how people should continue to be killed?

“The killings by Fulani herdsmen in some parts of the country is more than the feud between farmers and cattle pastoralists.

“It is a drive for territorial control, and we need to protect the people. We must protect the country.”

Ishaku yesterday insisted that the “Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law” has come to stay, as unprovoked attacks and killings by Fulani militants have continued unabated after mass burials of 73 persons in Benue and 68 in Taraba State.

The governor urged the elite in Taraba State to join hands and eschew the temptation of playing politics with the security and economic wellbeing of the masses.

Members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria are in court challenging the anti-open grazing law which comes into enforcement January 24.

The Taraba State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Sahabi Tukur, told newsmen that the state government has not put in place measures to ensure that herdsmen have a smooth switch from their traditional open grazing to ranching, which he said is a more challenging system of rearing cattle.    According to him, ranching requires commitment of huge sums of money to acquire land and develop infrastructure for the benefit of the animals.

He said: “The timing of the law is wrong because it fails to carry all the major stakeholders along, and the government has also failed to provide some of the basic infrastructure to enable the herdsmen key into the idea of ranching.

“We have few days to the take-off of the law and not even a single foot of land has been allocated for ranching. So, what do you expect the herdsmen to do?”

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State told a delegation of All Progressive  Congress (APC) governors who visited him in Makurdi that all is still not well in the state despite assurances from the federal authorities about boosting security.

“We thank God that peace is gradually returning to the state but there are still pockets of challenges here, we know the challenges will soon be over because our people are always alert to give useful information to security operatives around,” he said.

He alleged continued threats by herders to unleash more terror on the people.

”Let me tell you that our people are still living in fear and under siege; living in fear because of the series of threat by Kautal Hore which started the threat since seven months ago, they are not mere threats,” Ortom said.

“We have evidence against them, what we are saying is that federal government should arrest the leadership of Kautal Hore.”

The delegation which was led by Governor  Shetima Kashim of  Borno State also comprised  Simon Lalong  (Plateau), Mallam El Rufai  (Kaduna), Yahaya Bello  (Kogi) , Mohamad Abubakar  (Jigawa) and Osun State  deputy governor Titilayo Tomori.

Governor Kashim commiserated with the government and people of the state over the recent killings but warned against attempts by “some political dinosaur from Abuja or any part of the country to cause unnecessary issues.”

Meanwhile,Police Inspector-General Ibrahim Idris yesterday removed Mr. Bashir Makama as the Benue State Police Commissioner.

The immediate past Lagos State Police Commissioner, Mr.Fatai Owoseni was named as Makama’s successor.

A 27- year –old Nigerian, Ebuka Okori, was killed by the police in Durban in the early hours of Friday, the Nigerian community in South Africa said.

Mr Bartholomew Eziagulu, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union chapter in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on telephone from Durban  that the victim was a native of Umunze in Orumba North Local Government of Anambra.

He said that an eyewitness informed the union that two police officers in mufti forcefully gained access to the victim`s house at Campbell Street in Durban at 2.am on Friday.

According to him, the officers immediately demanded money from Okori.

“ When he refused, he was handcuffed, taken outside and shot dead. The officers took away his cell phone, e-passport and other valuable documents.

“ The relative of the victim was tortured and robbed of his belongings while a third victim, a South African,  was also robbed,” he said.

Eziagulu said that the Okori`s  brother escaped from the house and called for help.

“ The Metro Police around the vicinity swiftly intervened and picked the vehicle number of the assailants,” he said.

Eziagulu said that police detectives and another special police team which investigates complaints against their colleagues are assisting to arrest the culprits.

“So far I must appreciate the effort of the SAPS detectives, Metro Police and the IPID team, there were fantastic at services , so much cooperation ,never seen before.

“The station of the culprits has been directed for immediate arrest, while one of them already requested for sick leave ,the other still at large”, he said.

Mr Adetola Olubajo, the President of  the Nigerian Union in  South Africa, said that the national secretariat had been informed about the incident.

He said that the union was  monitoring the situation and had informed the Nigerian Mission and the South African police.

Eziagulu in  a statement also drew attention to the case of another Nigerian Ebuka Eziomwu , charged with  robbery.

The wife of the President, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, may have tactically endorsed the position of some Nigerians who are criticising her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari.

This indication emerged on Friday, January 19, when she reposted videos of two senators criticising the President on her verified Twitter handle, @aishambuhari.

The shared videos were originally posted by Oak Television on its handle, @OakTVOnline.

Those who criticised the President in the videos included Senator Isah Misau and Senator Ben Bruce.

Reports have it that one of the videos shared by the President’s wife which has a duration of one minute had attracted 5,336 views.

The second video which lasted 32 seconds had attracted 9,191 views while the third one with 45 seconds had attracted 3, 447 views.

It remains however, unclear if Mrs. Buhari decided to share the videos because she shares the views of the senators who were very critical of her husband.

In one of the videos, Misau was seen and heard criticising the President for appointing a person he described as incompetent as the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency.

Buhari had on January 10 approved the appointment of Ahmed Rufai Abubakar as the substantive Director-General for the NIA.

 
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the new DG is a retired career Foreign Service officer, who till his appointment served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs/International Relations.

Adesina said Abubakar’s appointment took immediate effect.

The statement read in part, “Abubakar had extensive experience working with the United Nations in peace support operations, mediation process, preventive diplomacy and good offices, as well as the promotion of good governance and respect for the rule of law and human rights.”

In furtherance of his efforts to stem the tide of crime and violence in Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike has given marching orders to security agencies to hunt down cult leaders terrorizing the state.

Governor Wike in a comprehensive list released during his state wide broadcast on the killing of Don Wanny, said security forces should not spare any of the listed suspects.

He said the suspects have refused to take advantage of the Amnesty offer of the state government thereby causing mayhem in different Local Government areas of the state.

The Rivers state Governor also announced a twenty million naira bounty for anyone who offers information about the whereabouts of the suspects.

Wike in the broadcast further blamed the All Progressive Congress led by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi for allegedly dissuading some cult groups from accepting the state’s amnesty.

He also accused Amaechi of politicizing the security situation in the state just as he revealed that the Anti-kidnapping Law will be amended to prescribe death sentence for criminals in Rivers state.

The Broadcast Reads:

On the first of January 2018, the entire State and the country at large was traumatized by the callous murder of 23 innocent persons at Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area by the notorious cultist, kidnapper, terrorist and murderer Don Wanny and members of his doomed gang.

2. When I visited the families of the victims, I placed a prize tag of N200 million for any information that could lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this most heinous crime against humanity.

3. I also assured the security agencies of our further determination to continue supporting them with whatever it would take to have these criminals apprehended and brought to justice.

4. Yesterday, 7th January 2018, we all received the news about the death of Don Wanny and two of his fellow gang members in their hideouts in Enugu State while trying to escape arrest from the security agencies that were closing in on them.

5. Although we would have wanted Mr. Don Wanny and his gang members to have been arrested alive and put to trial for their numerous crimes and atrocities against his own people. His death, nevertheless, is a huge relief to the entire State, and therefore, most welcome development.

6. For years the security situation in Omoku in particular, and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government area in general, has been most challenging because of the criminal activities of Don Wanny and his gang.

7. We therefore wholeheartedly thank President Muhammadu Buhari for rising to the occasion and not politicking with the issue of security. We also commend the security agencies, particularly, the Nigerian Army and the Department of State Security, for swiftly rising to the challenge in the most professional manner.

8. There is no doubt that this heroic success has proven what is possible when our security agencies are willing to discharge their constitutional duties with unadulterated commitment and professionalism.

9. Since 2015, we have been calling for tackling security issues devoid of political considerations in Rivers State in order to achieve maximum result. This level of commitment and professionalism as demonstrated in the Omoku case is exemplary. Therefore, we will continue to demand no less from our security agencies to keep our State safe and secure for residents, visitors and investors.

10. As a government, we have invested heavily on the security of the State and will continue to do everything within our powers to guarantee the security and safety of lives and property throughout the State. As a fact, we will spare no cost in ensuring that nobody will have peace if the lives and property of our people make no meaning to them.

11. However, we are deeply worried when our investments in security are deliberately prevented from yielding the desired results due largely to the recurrent tendency to politicize the federally controlled security agencies and services in the State. This is the reason why we must thank the President for doing things differently and with the support of all, a different result has been achieved.

12. The aftermaths of crime and insecurity affect society as a whole, and not only the direct victims. Accordingly, the duty to fight crime and criminality remains collective and no right thinking person should ever indulge in politicizing security issues under any circumstance.

13. In deed, at a time such as this, we expect political leaders to eschew political sentiments in their reactions and utterances and join forces with the State Government to address the situation and bring justice to the victims.

14. Regrettably, instead of showing respect for the dead and genuine sympathies to the bereaved families, the leader of the All Progressives Congress and former Governor of the State prefers to exploit the unfortunate incident for political ends by disseminating wild, unguarded and inciting statements to the unsuspecting public.

15. Contrary to his false claims and posturing the security challenge in Omoku predated our administration and Rivers State was never peaceful when he held sway as Governor. In case he has forgotten, this same Don Wanny tragically killed 32 persons in Omoku on the 14th of December 2014 under his watch as Governor. Yet, he failed to bring Don Wanny to justice.

16. We reiterate our zero tolerance for all forms of criminality and reassure all residents of our determination to be tough with those who choose to violate our criminal laws and undermine peace and security in the State.

17. To underscore the seriousness we attach to the fight against violent crime, we shall be amending the Anti kidnapping law to prescribe the maximum sentence for engaging in cultism, robbery and kidnapping.

18. Our decision to offer amnesty to all repentant cultists, militants and criminals was done in good faith and in the best interest of the State. Regrettably, while the programme was on course, the former governor and his ilk dissuaded some of these criminals from sincerely embracing the amnesty. The result is the recent escalation of cult and criminal activities in parts of the State.

19. At all times, our position on the amnesty offer is clear: those who genuinely embraced the offer are bound to fully, completely and perpetually renounce all forms of criminality and be of good behaviour in order to enjoy terms of the amnesty. The full weight of the law will be released on those who failed to embrace it.

20. Remember the little boy whose story was all over social media late last year?

The little boy that bombed a wedding photograph?

Ayaworan media house who took the pictures them took to social media to launch a campaign to try to help fund the little man then. A search was launched and after a couple of days they found the little boy and heard his story.

"On finally locating the abode of the boy, we met his guardian who narrated the emotional story of Oluwatobiloba. We requested for the whereabouts of the parents, but we were told that the father and mother were not together anymore. We fixed an appointment for the second day to meet with the father.

On the second day, we were armed with material and cash gifts from Ayaworan Media House and other well meaning Nigerians for Oluwatobilola.

When we got to the house of Oluwatobiloba, we found Oluwatobiloba clutching a small bucket, on his way to fetch water.

So, straight to the story of Oluwatobiloba:

He is three years old and a product of failed marriage. According to his father, the boy was abandoned by his mother when he was barely a month old. His father, unable to cater for the boy, sought for a nanny who works in a daycare center, to take custody of the boy.

The nanny has been taken care of the boy since then. Though the father is a graduate of Electrical Engineering, he is jobless.

Though Oluwatobiloba has never seen the four walls of a school, he has a good command of English language considering his age. He speaks and understand English Language.

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources has denied reports that there are plans to increase the pump price of petrol. In a statement released by the ministry's Director of Press, Idang Alibi, he said the report making the rounds on social media is false.

"Our attention has been drawn to publications making rounds on traditional & social media alleging that the HMSPR Dr. Ibe Kachikwu dropped a hint of an impending fuel price increase during the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committee hearing on fuel scarcity in Nigeria.

The Ministry of Petroleum Resources would like to categorically state that the Honorable Minister of State, Petroleum Resources all through his presentations at the hearing, neither mentioned nor insinuated the need or plans by the FG to increase the current pump price of PMS.

It would be expedient to note that that the Presidency has set up a special committee to identify the immediate and remote causes of the fuel scarcity with a view to finding both immediate and long lasting solutions to the challenge.

The Committee has been in rounds of deliberations in the past few days and these discussions are still ongoing. The final decisions and recommendations from the Committee would be passed on to the President and Commander-In-Chief for approval.

The general public and indeed stakeholders in the Oil and Gas sector are by this statement urged to disregard any such report of a price increase. One of such is as reported by The Nation news.

The Federal Government on Tuesday hinted that independent marketers might be allowed to sell petrol above the current regulated pump price N145 per litre, PUNCH reports.

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, gave the hint in a presentation at an investigative hearing organised by the Senate on the lingering scarcity of the product in the country.

He said the N26 differential between the current pump price and the landing cost of the commodity was caused by the rise in the exchange rate.

The minister recalled that naira was 285 to a dollar when the pump price was raised to N145 per litre, adding that the rate would have to drop to N240 to a dollar for marketers to be able to sell at the official price.

Kachikwu stated that the government had come up an 18-month emergency period within which issues affecting supply and pricing of the commodity should be solved.

 
The minister said the government was considering three models for the regulation of the pump price of petrol, one of which is a “plural pricing system” that would allow independent marketers to either stick with the distribution chain of the government and the official price, or sell the commodity based on the variations in the importation and landing costs.

The minister explained that while the government could retain the current official pump price of N145, marketers who were not okay with its supply chain could be allowed to import and distribute the product independently.

Kachikwu said: “We are looking at an 18-month emergency period. During this emergency period, we need to address the issue of pricing. There is price disparity between the landing cost and the cost of selling. If we must sell at N145 (per litre), we need to put mechanisms in place so that the private sector can go back to importation. We now have a committee that is looking at this and it will be subjected to review.

“The landing cost of the product today is about N170 or N171. The price that we should sell is N145. So, there is a disparity. What that means is that those individuals who are bringing in theirs will not be able to meet their obligations like the NNPC for commercial supply. We need to step back.”

A 25-year old Fulani kidnap-for-ransom kingpin, Ibrahim Umar, stunned people watching as he was being paraded among 15 others by the Nigerian Police, Tuesday, when he disclosed that he had not only killed over ten of his kidnapped victims in recent times but also drank their blood raw.

Police Public Relation, CSP Jimoh Moshood parading Notorious Kidnapper Ibrahim Umar a.k.a Oro Gang Leader dressed in Military uniform, who has killed more than 10 victims also leaks their blood after he collected ransom at Sabo Nwuse Niger State.

He equally disclosed that he hunts and kills soldiers to get their arms and uniforms for operations whenever he was in need of the items.

What distinguishes Umar’s kidnap gang from many others across the country is that it kills the victims even after collecting ransom from their families.

Umar, a vicious and notorious kidnap-for-ransom/armed robbery kingpin, who said he has been in the business for over two years now, was arrested alongside his three gang members in the forest and towns along Abuja-Kaduna, and Abuja-Suleja-Minna Highway by men of the F- SARS Special Tactical Squad attached to Operation Absolute Sanity.

The husband of two wives and father of two, who gave his nickname as “Oro”, told journalists at Sabon Wuse Divisional Office of the Nigeria Police Force, venue of the parade, that he had made fortunes worth several millions of naira from the atrocities he carried out along the highway for the past two years.

The arms and ammunition recovered from the the gang included five AK47 riffles, 1596 7.62 X 39mm AK47 ammunition, two sword & cutlasses, four pairs of suspected fake military uniform and mobile phones.

Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, who paraded the suspects before newsmen, gave their names as Mohammadu Auta a.k.a Babawuro, 27 years old, Musa Usman, 25 years old and Abdullahi Abubakar, who is 28 years old.

Mr Moshood who spoke about the gang said:

“The gang is the most vicious and notorious syndicate of Kidnap-for-ransom gang arrested by the police in the recent time. They  defeated and its members captured after an intense gun battle that lasted more than five hours between the F- SARS Special Tactical Squad attached to Operation Absolute Sanity.

The police team busted the gang and arrested Umar and three other suspects including their gang leader who is a trained Armourer and the hit-man of the gang.

The gang leader Ibrahim Umar a.k.a Oro, confessed to have killed personally more than ten people including those that he killed and still collected ransom money from their families.

He also confessed to suck the blood of most of the victims after killing them. He was identified by some of the victims rescued from their captivity by the Police in the forest during the gun battle Moshood added.

Twelve other suspects were also arrested in the act of laying ambush to kidnap people returning from Christmas and New Year holidays on Kaduna – Abuja road and Minna – Suleja – Abuja road".

The Force PRO said the implementation of elaborate security arrangement directed by Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim, for the 2017 Christmas and 2018 New Year festivities was responsible for the breakthrough, adding that the development was equally yielding positive results throughout the country.

According to him, "the gang is the most vicious and notorious syndicate of Kidnap for ransom gang arrested by the police in the recent time.”

The gang leader, Ibrahim Umar a.k.a Oro, confessed to have killed personally more than 10 people including those that he killed and still collected ransom money from their families.

He also confessed to suck the blood of most of the victims after killing them. He was identified by some of the victims rescued from their captivity by the Police in the forest during the gun battle.

He said the other suspects were apprehended in their various criminal hideouts in the forest and other locations along the Abuja-Suleja-Minna highways for kidnapping, armed robbery, murder and multiple rape cases.

All the suspects arrested confessed to their various criminal roles they played in the commission of the crimes. The suspects will be arraigned in court for prosecution on completion of investigation."

He further added that investigation was being intensified to arrest other members of the gang still at large.

ASABA—A kidnap suspect, Ojiedu Doctor, who had been on the wanted list of the Delta State Police Command, has been arrested as he walked into the Police Headquarters, Asaba, to reclaim a vehicle used for a kidnapping operation in 2015.

The state’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, disclosed that operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Cyber Crime Squad, SAKCCS, effected the arrest on December 29.

The marching police officers His words:

“On September 19, 2016, a victim, Gbiyede Juliet, was kidnapped alongside her child, Tekevwe Gbiyede, aged nine, while driving her Venza car. Four suspects were then arrested and charged to court in connection with the crime.

However, on December 29, 2017, the suspect, Ojigedu Doctor, was arrested in Asaba by SAKCCS operatives for his involvement in most kidnap cases in Warri and environs.

He admitted that he gave N2,000 to the earlier arrested kidnappers to fuel Gbiyede Juliet’s Venza car for possible escape.

The suspect evaded arrest in 2016 in connection with alleged kidnap case and abandoned his Toyota Camry with number plates JRT 528 GE, currently parked at the Police Station, Ebrumede.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim has disclosed that he was under pressure by some powerful Deltans to release the notorious kidnap and robbery suspect, Anthony Obolor, a.k.a. Dracula, arrested by the Police.

Ibrahim, who had complained to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, did not name the powerful persons, but said:

“Big shots are calling to compromise me on his case.”

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau released a video message on Tuesday claiming a series of attacks in northeast Nigeria during the festive season.
The shadowy leader released his first video message in months amid a surge in violence casting doubt on the Nigerian government’s claim that the jihadist group is defeated.

“We are in good health and nothing has happened to us,” said Shekau in the 31-minute video message spoken in the Hausa language common across northern Nigeria.

“Nigerian troops, police and those creating mischief against us can’t do anything against us, and you will gain nothing,” he said.

The video then shows footage from a Christmas Day attack on a military checkpoint in Molai village on the outskirts of the northeast Nigerian city of Maiduguri, which the military said was thwarted by troops after one hour of battle.

Boko Haram fighters in torn clothes were shown shooting from the back of battered pickup trucks.

Shekau’s message comes during an acceleration of Boko Haram attacks and just days after the jihadists killed 25 people outside Maiduguri, the birthplace of the Islamist insurgency.

In December, Boko Haram attacked convoys of Nigerian soldiers and dispatched suicide bombers into crowded markets in towns across northeast Nigeria.

At least 50 people were killed in November when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a mosque in Adamawa state.

But Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said in his New Year address that Boko Haram has been “beaten”.

“Isolated attacks still occur, but even the best-policed countries cannot prevent determined criminals from committing terrible acts of terror,” said Buhari.
Shekau, a leader known for his lengthy, wild-eyed video messages, took over Boko Haram in 2009 after the death of its founder Muhammad Yusuf.

Boko Haram, whose Islamist insurgency has left at least 20,000 dead in Nigeria since it began in 2009, has long been fractionalised.

In 2016 it suffered a major split, when the so-called Islamic State group recognised Yusuf’s son, Abu Mus’ab al-Barnawi, as leader.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described President Muhammadu Buhari’s New Year address as depressing and filled with false claims of achievements.

The party in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, on Monday, January 1, claims that President Buhari completely failed to address serious economic and security issues confronting the nation.

“Nigerians were again treated to another round of false claims and empty promises, which has become a routine in close to three years of APC-controlled Presidency. This was why the PDP earlier advised the Federal Government not to bother about any New Year message to Nigerians.

“We already knew the pattern and we advised against it this year. We knew their New Year message would heighten Nigerians’ despondency rather than providing us hope”, PDP said in the statement said.

The party said they were disappointed that instead of accepting that it has failed, the Presidency attempted to appropriate and claim credit for the achievements of the PDP thereby depressing Nigerians.

“Instead of inspiring the people, the address ended up depressing and annoying them the more as it held no message and did not proffer any solutions.
“Instead of offering solutions or providing the indices for development, the Presidency deployed over 2,000 words passing the buck, begging the question, making empty claims and attempting to appropriate achievements of the PDP administration.”

PDP said further that the New Year Message was not solution proffering as the President, who is also the Minister of Petroleum Resources, did not give a clear-cut solution to the fuel crisis confronting the nation and that neither did he address how to raise the fallen value of the naira nor how to rescue the labour market from the acute unemployment.

The address according to the PDP also failed to respond to issues of corruption under the APC regime.

“Rather, what we heard was a boring litany of buck passing, lame declarations and barefaced attempt to appropriate and claim credit for achievements and landmark projects initiated, articulated and implemented by the PDP administration, including, the railway, electricity and agricultural projects,” PDP said.

The party therefore challenged the Presidency to tell Nigerians which landmark project it has initiated, articulated and executed in its close to three years of governance.

A Minnesota woman has pleaded guilty to fatally shooting her boyfriend in a videotaped stunt they planned to post on YouTube.

The Star Tribune reports that 20-year-old Monalisa Perez pleaded guilty last week to second-degree manslaughter in the June death of 22-year-old Pedro Ruiz III.

Perez and Ruiz were recording the stunt for their YouTube channel. Ruiz convinced Perez to shoot him at close range with a pistol, while he held a thick book in front of his chest — believing the book would stop the bullet.

To convince Perez, the man presented another book, with a bullet hole on one side and no exit hole, as evidence that the book he was to hold in front of him would stop the bullet, police said.

“Me and Pedro are probably going to shoot one of the most dangerous videos ever,[b]” Perez wrote on Twitter prior to performing the stunt. “HIS idea not MINE.” With video cameras recording, Perez pulled the trigger.

The bullet pierced the book and fatally wounded Ruiz, who then died at the scene. In an agreement with prosecutors, Perez agreed to serve three months in jail in one-month increments over three years, and then serve the other three months under house arrest.

She will be formally sentenced in February. Although Perez has already agreed with prosecutors to the six month term, at the sentencing hearing the judge can ignore that and impose a longer sentence. In such cases people usually have the right to rescind their guilty plea and go to trial.

The group said the emergence of the Prince Uche Secondus-led National Working Committee, NWC, at the December 9 national convention will not stand.
