I was a work-at-home guy and because of the pressure of people that I was doing yahoo and seem irresponsible, I decided to open a shop.

I looked around and discovered Charging Center was lucrative in the environment and they had only one person running the business. I decided to go into this. I paid for land on rent and started a building there,I was told the wooden building won't take more than 200K but it took over 600K.

After the building, the other guy charging came in and stood there like he was angry, although he didn't say anything, still I observed he was seeing me as a threat.

After I launch the business, it went well the first day and second day. The third day i employed one of my old boy to work there.

Problems started when over 30 chargers got burnt at once and my extension started spoiling.Ever since I started that business, I have been spending money everyday to keep it moving. Almost everyday I repair my generator, bulbs and one issue to another.

I spend on the shop without even making a dime as profit from it. I was just spending money continously.

I decided to drop my boy because he was expensive to me. Paying him monthly plus over 1200 everyday for food, food break, smoking break.

I invited my ex girlfriend to help me run the business. She came the first day and that evening she told me her father wanted her to stop, which I saw as an excuse. Nonetheless I decided to close it down.

In less than a month, I spent over 2million for a charging center and made nothing from it.


PS: the charging center was well built with big plasma and multiple fans plus few modern facilities.

The business is draining my common sense at the moment


PSS: I am a very gentle giver and I have given to so many people in area being a new person there (about 2yrs). But when I started the business, non of those that benefited from me even came. They would pass my store to the other shop. It so painful how I helped so many people coming to me for money for free and now they don't even patronise me.

During the weekend, VTU users across the country woke up to the rude shock of astronomical increase in the price of all Airtel CG data plans.

It would have been bearable if it was a 5% or 10% increase.

But, Airtel the self-acclaimed "Smartphone Network" in Nigeria suddenly decided in its wisdom to jack up the price of data by over 30%.

I do not understand the rationale for this.

Could it be that they want to discourage people from using the SME data plans?

One cannot say for sure until the management of Airtel release a statement on this.

In the meantime, what this means is that...

Airtel CG 1gb data which used to cost N229 suddenly went up to N304

And Airtel CG 10gb data which used to cost N2,290 also went up to N3,040

Which is very high indeed.

What this also means is that...

Resellers who were selling Airtel CG data plans for cheaper than that are now faced with a decision.

Either to continue selling Airtel CG data at their old prices and experience huge losses.

Or, jack up their prices too in line with this new increase.

So, how do you take advantage of this price increase by MTN?

As a consumer, you do certainly have a choice!.

You can either continue to load internet data at the new data prices for Airtel CG.

Or, you can switch to MTN SME or Glo CG data plans.

At least you can get...

MTN SME 1gb data @ N284

And Glo 1gb data @ N253

Which is far better than Airtel 1gb @ N304

And, come to think of it...

Airtel data rate per kb of data usage is way more expensive than that of any other network service provider.

So, it would help you a great deal to switch to MTN or Glo depending on which one works better in your area.
