I never wanted to reply to this post until I started getting more irritated by some posts. In as much as we all see things from different perspectives but perhaps it is only in Africa that people would say

- all the things listed by kaz4sure without asking how much should the president and does the president earn (Gadafi and co) huh,-how do we account for our government, how do we invest in our people so that we could stand tall, does the president own the country and WHO owns the country and its wealth.

- It is only in Africa people would say, yeah Rochas, Fasola, Osiomole etc are working. For christ sake what do you mean by working. What were they elected to do ? Who owns the money ? Does a man shout to the world yeah I have slept with my wife huhhuh?? Does it not make us silly and make the servants (leaders) feel like gods huhhuh?/

[color=Black]I am afraid, our mental dispositions may not give rise to any meaningful change in the next say 400 years.
Poor Africa, Poor Nigeria, it is a pity

Well done man. The bolded is not a curse at all.

Tribute to the Hero (A man of his words)

A lion that would never turn back from it's attacker
A captain that will sink with his ship
A commander-in Chief that will never waiver
Have a good night sleep!

You'd rather die fighting
Than bolt away like a goat
If we find a leader like you in crises
Over us the enemies will not gloat

You said you would die a Martyr
And that was just as said
Your lifeless body dragged on the street
Really reminds me of the martyrs of old

To many, you died like a dog
To some you died a hero
But the fact is, your death is just an open door
For those that thinks of tomorrow

Sleep Well Colonel!
Heroes never die!
One Muammar Al-Qhaddafi! One Africa!

I would suggest that too. But if you can't go, you may call SCOAN's prayer line (English) and one of the prayer partners will attend to you and pray with you.

PoliticsFighting Breaks Out Again In Tripoli by knightride(op): 11:17pm On Oct 16, 2011
Libya: Fighting breaks out on the streets of Tripoli as battle continues to rage for control of Sirte

Fighting broke out on the streets of Tripoli for the first time in more than a month, as revolutionaries clashed with gunmen chanting in support of Col Muammar Gaddafi.

Rebel fighters converged on the southern neighbourhood of Abu Salim after armed men tried to hold a protest in favour of the ousted dictator and raise his green flag.

The clash was the first sign of armed resistance to the National Transitional Council in Tripoli since it was overrun by anti-Gaddafi revolutionaries in late August causing the deposed leader and his family to flee.

It will heighten concern among Libya's new interim government that pockets of support for Col Gaddafi remain after the eight month-long uprising.

Fighters pursued the protestors, prompting street battles, though there was no report of casualties.

Col Gaddafi has urged his supporters to take to the streets in audio messages released since his escape, but his calls have so far gone unheeded.

Ahmad al-Warsly, a fighter with the Zintan brigade, said: "It seems like it was organised.

"They were planning to have a big demonstration, then the fight started." Tripoli's streets have been relatively calm since late August except for celebratory fire.

The clashes happened as heavy fighting continued in Sirte a week after revolutionary brigades had pushed into the city in a final assault.

Forces loyal to the National Transitional Council were again held at bay by a pocket of loyalists in the north western district two of the city.

Tanks and rocket launchers were brought forward to again bombard the buildings where marksmen had prevented the advance from three and four-storey blocks near the coast.

Frustration among the rebel fighters was increased by chaotic organisation which saw a string of confused and bloody friendly fire incidents.

A westward push through residential blocks on Thursday evening had foundered when three fighters from Benghazi had been shot dead by comrades firing from a different direction.

On Friday afternoon a corner where men had grouped to watch the bombardment was hit by two explosions thought to be caused by mortar bombs or rocket-propelled grenades from their own side.

At least a dozen were seriously wounded and treated at a street corner as they were ferried in from the blast, before being taken to a field hospital.

After the momentum and excitement of earlier in the week, rebel fighters conceded it may take another week to subdue an estimated 100 to 500 loyalists in the final pocket.

Military experts have expressed concern over the gap in fighting capability between the opposition volunteers and Gaddafi loyalists who have been trained by the SAS.

Intelligence made available to British consultants to the NTC indicates that Mutassim Gaddafi, the eldest son of the deposed dictator, remains in the town. Among the hundreds of defenders fighting for him are a "hard core" of veterans from elite units that received SAS training in counter-terrorism techniques in 2009.

The training included close quarter fighting skills in built up areas.

A consultant said the units are also expert in forming sniper units and carrying our mortar and artillery attacks.

A leading military analyst said the skills gap between the two sides had prolonged fighting in Sirte. "These are remnants of elite outfits holding out in Sirte," said Brig Ben Barry, a warfare expert at the International Institute of Strategic Studies. "The really important thing in urban warfare is people who know what they are doing."

Meanwhile, America confirmed it had sent a team of contractors to search for missing surface-to-air missiles that could be used to shoot down civilian aircraft.

Andrew Shapiro, assistant secretary of state for political and military affairs, said: "We know that terrorist groups have expressed interest in obtaining these weapons."

Thanks Knightride, you speak like a man so blessed and full of Wisdom on the ways of God and HIS Ministry. I so appreciate the choice of your words below.

In line with this seeming criticism, unbelief, derogatory comments against God's annointed, i decided to write this small piece to admonish anyone who cares to know the truth.

see link of Original prophecy.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrtX4lkMzwg
The Bible says,a nation perishes due to lack of vision. In the old testament days, Christians don't attempt going into any form of competition e.g War without consulting a prophet for God's opinion or advice on how to conquer their foes. 2Kings 6: 8-12. Today, are we really expecting God to leave HIS children in this wicked world without direction, without a prophet, without instruction in righteousness? No, He loves us so dearly and won't leave us un-tended or un-shepherded. A prophet speaks only what the Lord God has revealed to HIM. The reason we doubt is because we can’t see enough, we need God to open our eyes of faith to see beyond the ordinary. No wonder Elijah’s servant was overwhelmed by the presence of King’s Aram’s Army. 2Kings 6:15-17.
Many say what’s prophet T.B.Joshua’s business with football? Guess we should ask Elijah why he should consistently warn Israel & her leaders on the evil ploy of the Arameans against the Israelites 2Kings 6:8-12, why did little David involve God to fight and defeat Goliath?
More so, when God gives a prophet a vision, his obligation as a prophet is to inform God’s Children. If this vision is to be changed, we agree with the Prophet in prayer (he can’t do it alone) to God on what to do, how to do it in order to change that event.
Lastly, Men of God speak in parables because even God almighty reveals things to come in parables, same reason why Jesus disciples often asked HIM to explain further what he meant, the same reason the book of revelations was written the way it is today. Never ever play with the words of God almighty through his prophets because of its seeming infallibility and the way that you know these words come from God is through so much criticism that it attracts. You need not believe because God’s word is God Himself, it won’t fail without God himself failing.
Prophet T.B.Joshua is God’s anointed prophet sent to the world to act with God, to get HIS ideas and carry out God’s projects because Ministry is not a competition. Be careful what you say to or about a True Man of God. The more negative things you say, the greater the prophet and HIS ministry. What have you contributed to improve your generation, other than mere talk and criticisms? If He was fake, then he can’t be the only fake one in the world, there should be many like HIM. How come only one MAN in the world came forward boldly telling you the outcome of a match 7 days before the match was played? Please let’s value this SWEET Gift of God in Nigeria. It’s for Africa.
If the white can celebrate a sea creature (Octopus); how much more a prophet of God in our midst?
A word is enough for the Wise. God Bless Us all.
God Bless you and the womb that brought you forth.

You have said it all. I wish every Nigerian could reason like you.

God Bless You!! smiley

Thank You
He said there would be a Divine Intervention in this country in these coming days, and that Divine Intervention will bring peace.

He talked in parables that there would be an argument where people would be saying: "It is him, It is not him" and arrests shall be made. Then there would be peace. He said he wouldn't say more than that.

But we all have to pray. That everyone could pick any day in the week to pray specifically ( and even fast) for this nation of ours. That as we do that, we should also pray for every troubled part of the world.

The purpose of many prophecies is to warn God's children of impending danger which can then be defeated through praying about the said danger. If indeed this was a prophesy from God, revealed in Church, why did Malam Joshua and his congregation not pray to reverse the predicted doom?

BTW, it is hard to believe that God is in the business of fixing matches. Joshua should watch his back if he was using God's name to take undue risks and making predictions, which if they come true, will glorify Malam Joshua and Joshua alone. False prophets never die well. BE WARNED!!!!
Did you skip the line where he said he cannot do it alone?

Joshua is a prophet of doom.
Has he ever prophesied and had it averted.
When he prophesied about a plane crash then, he and his congregation prayed but the plane still crashed.
He prophesied about Gani Fahewinmi's death; was it averted?
And he never prophesies about good things.
Balderdash!
cry embarassed

This your statement is very embarrassing!
The words of Jesus is very very CORRECT.
Jesus prophesied that "As it was in the days of Noah, so shall the second coming of the Son of Man be"

The Bible says that Noah prophesied that there would be a great flood; but the people mocked him; calling him a prophet of doom.
Until the flood came and swept them all away. Some of them even ran to the ark for safety, begging Noah to open. But God never gave them a second chance.

Man, mind what you say. TBJ has prophesied many good things and they have come to pass.
I'm sure you don't or have never watched Emmanuel TV.

If you are yet to understand that the world is made up of good and evil, then you are far away from reality.
Jesus says "everyday is full of it's own evil" that was why he said ", and deliver us from all evils".

I'm afraid the prophesies of "It shall be well" has killed Nigeria and it is still killing Nigeria.

When God revealed something to us free of charge, we failed to act on the instructions given and instead of us to be sober, we are making noise, blaming this and that.

Did you hear his prophecy concerning Nigeria yesterdayhuh I'm sure you did not. But when it comes to pass, you will start calling him a liar.

May God forgive you and others like you.

ADMIN Says:

DAILY TRUST - The Nigerian Army yesterday berated Governor David Jonah Jang of Plateau State over his accusation that the military was informed of an impending attack on some villages but failed to stop it.

In a statement by Director of Army Public Relations Brig. Gen AC Olukolade, the army said as a retired Air Commodore, Jang has demonstrated an embarrassing naivety in interpreting the dynamics of land operations.

The statement reads: “The Nigerian Army (NA) has noted with serious concern a statement made by the Governor of Plateau State, His Excellency, Da Jonah Jang to the effect that last Sunday’s killings in the Jos South Local Government Area of the State could have been averted if the Army had acted on the early intelligence report he provided.

“Coming from a Chief Executive and Chief Security Officer of a State with substantial military background, it is unfortunate that Air Commodore David Jang (rtd) has demonstrated an embarrassing naivety in interpreting the dynamics of land operations. The Governor would have spared the nation his unfortunate remarks if only he consulted sufficiently before making his inciting declaration.

“That Governor Jang visited the Defence Headquarters today Wednesday, 10 March, 2010 clearly indicates that he knows the appropriate authority to consult in the event of dissatisfaction with the action of any Army commander. Rather than follow this process, he resorted to inflammatory remarks targeted at rubbishing the army. His allegation insinuating bias is indeed unfortunate.

“It is noteworthy that the Nigerian Army is involved in internal security operations in virtually all states of the Federation including Plateau State. The record of the Army’s performance in all these operations has continued to attract commendation and appreciation even in the face of numerous challenges. Governor Jang’s ceaseless attack on the Army only goes to confirm his extraordinary partisanship to which the Army will not be blackmailed into supporting.

“It is common knowledge that the Internal Security operation in Jos, Plateau State is a Joint military operation involving the various services and the Nigeria Police Force. This situation arose when the Police could not cope at the onset of the Jos crisis in January 2010 and the military was legally drafted to restore law and order in Plateau State. The operation now involves personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, Nigeria Police and the State Security Service among others. It is therefore unfortunate that Gov Jang’s spurious claims were specifically targeted at tarnishing the good image of the Army.

“The Governor may have his political or other intents to achieve, but he should desist from compounding issues, at least in the interest of the people who are endangered by his proposition and disdain for the Army in particular.

“Although the Army is briefing appropriate authorities on its operations and believes that appropriate response to Governor Jang’s attack on the Army is forthcoming, it is necessary to reassure Nigerians that the Army is not involved in any complicity as suggested by Governor Jang through his numerous channels for blackmail. The Army will continue to make its vital inputs into the ongoing joint operations of the Special Task Force as duly mandated by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
“The Nigerian Army wishes to make it emphatically clear that it has no other interest in the state other than commitment to the operation and restoration of peace. The Army high command is working in concert with Defence Headquarters to guide the operations of the Joint Task Force in Plateau State towards achieving Government’s intention of ensuring adequate security in the area as quickly as possible.”

Accuser of The Brethren - Christian Witchcraft

by Pastor K.D. James

{This ministry is NOT connected to or affiliated with SCOAN, the Synagogue Church of All Nations - Nigeria in any way. The opinions and ideas expressed in this blog are those of an individual, Kevin. James and are not an official statement of SCOAN or Prophet T.B. Joshua}.

THE ACCUSER AGAINST THE BRETHREN

In the religion of Judaism and in the Hebrew language the name, 'Ha-Satan', means "the Accuser or the Adversary". In ancient Jewish culture names were not chosen at random or by accident. A name is given to an individual to accurately reflect a person's nature, character and conduct. It's important to understand the history behind Biblical names.

In the Book of Revelation 12:10, Satan is called, 'the accuser of the brethren'. When we study another term for Satan used in scripture, the Devil, we discover that it's derived from a Greek word, 'diabolos', which means; 'Slanderer' or 'Accuser.' The word "accuse" is defined as, "(1) to charge with, or declare to have committed a crime, (2) to find at fault; to blame . . ."

Scripture teaches us plainly that Satan is a liar. He is the father of lies and there is no truth in him. (John 8:44) People, if they are not careful can become an instrument used by the devil to carry out his work of slandering our brothers and sisters in Christ. For example; in the Old Testament Job's brethren falsely accused him (4:7-9). The attack on Job came from those who were closest to him, - his own family and dearest friends. In Matthew 12:22-24, the Pharisees falsely accused Jesus of wrongdoing. (Matt. 12:22-24).

A Sign of The Last Days

Among the sins characteristic of the "last days" is that some who profess to be followers of Jesus Christ will become "false accusers" (2 Timothy 3:3). Indeed, there are false brethren who are intentionally attacking God's true servants with malicious lies, slander and misrepresentation.

Since February of 2008, leading newspapers throughout Nigeria have reported on ‘alleged’ moral failures and supposed criminal activities all purported to have been committed by one T.B. Joshua, the General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Lagos, Nigeria.

Two individuals in particular, a Theresa Bisola Johnson a former church aid and Mr. Paul Agomoh a former associate minister under T.B. Joshua produced a video entitled, “Deception of the Age” (i.e. “Rise of a Nigerian Anti-christ”.

This video is being sold for $40.00 in some of the largest churches in the region. They assert in their video that their objective is simply to expose T.B. Joshua as a false prophet, a charlatan, and perpetrator of atrocious crimes.

However, we've discovered after months of careful examination of their claims, interviews with first-hand eye witnesses, the evidence proves that the Accuser of the Brethren is at work. Satan himself is working through Christians to slander an innocent man.

Specific Accusations

In the video Bisola Johnson described how she and others endured horrific psychological abuse and cult-like brainwashing. She claims to have been the victim of sodomy and her video co-star Mr. Paul Agomoh claims to have personally witnessed sexual orgies, the molestation of under age children, staged or fake miracles, and other sins, deceptive practices and criminal conduct.

The video entitled, 'Deception of the Ages' was co-produced by well known Pastor Ladi Peters Thompson of Living Waters Unlimited Church, Lagos. He is the individual responsible for reaching out and making contact with mainstream media. He actually broke the story if you will.

Rebellion, Slander and Witchcraft

Let's assume that Pastor Ladi Peters Thompson was sincere in his motives. Let's assume that his motive in going to the media was not self-centered, but merely to warn the people of T.B. Joshua in order to prevent further harm to others.

If that were the case, Peters Thompson should have followed the biblical process for dealing with sin in the camp. When we obey scripture and follow God's instructions we have divine protection and covering. Scripture outlines the process that must be followed to effectively deal with matters of this sort.

II Corinthians 13:1, the church is commanded not to receive an accusation against a man of God unless it is confirmed by two or more eye-witnesses of sound moral character.
Matthew 18:15-17, “Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother. 16) But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 17) And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.”

By adhering to instructions presented in the Word of God all persons, whether guilty, not guilty and especially the innocent can have their privacy and human dignity protected. Moreover, by doing what scripture teaches we can determine whether or not allegations are true or fabricated. Peters Thompson made a terrible mistake in his decision to ignore scripture.

On a more important note, we must never forget that God's foremost desire is to bring all men to repentance. Jesus Christ died on Calvary for all men - even the most wicked of criminals. No matter how terrible the sin or how wicked the sinner, Jesus Christ is able to deliver ever soul from bondage to sinful habits.

If we approach conflict, sin and strife in the house of God with this mindset, God is free to work through us. He is able move through our words and our actions to motivate the sinner man to confess sin, repent of it and be restored. If we abandon scripture and forsake God's process - souls will remain lost in sin, condemnation, shame and strife will continue in the house of God.

A Christian should never allow personal opinion, rumor or superstition to distract us from our sacred calling which is - to save the lost. The behavior and actions of Peters Thompson, Chris Okotie and other Pentecostal leaders in Nigeria is shameful.

Here are reasons why I make this strong statement:

At no time has Pastor Peters Thompson made contact or even attempted to make contact with T.B. Joshua to inquire as to the truthfulness of the video content. (A direct violation of scripture)
As of this date (August 13, 2009), Peter Thompson insists that he will not dialogue with T.B. Joshua. Not by telephone, face-to-face or by any other medium. (This demonstrates willful disobedience against the biblical command to seek restoration when strife exists in the house of God).
Pastor Peters Thompson states adamantly that he will not review evidence that could clear T.B. Joshua of the allegations. (This proves that Peters Thompson is not in search of the truth).
Peters Thompson states on public record that if any such evidence exists it must be fabricated evidence.

This attitude is wrong, ungodly, unfair and in fact - demonic. To willfully reject and rebel against the word of God is witchcraft. One who embraces this attitude is unfit for ministry.

I Samuel 15:23, 'For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.'

FALSE WITNESSES EXPOSED

The integrity of the two so-called ‘witnesses’ against T.B. Joshua is not credible to say the least. In fact, irrefutable evidence proves conclusively that they have lied on T.B. Joshua. Let's explore the evidence.

In 'Deception of the Ages - Part 4', Mr. Paul Agomoh boldly claimed that he purchased wheelchairs, even a specific wheelchair that was used to fake the healing of Maxwell Ijeh. (Forward to frame 5:20 sec.) Agomoh states in the video that Maxwell was manipulated and made to sit in and "pose" as if he was a crippled man.

Facts: Paul Agomoh is a liar! Mr. Maxwell Ijeh and his wife have come forward to testify on record that Agomoh's story is fabricated and untrue. Maxwell Ijeh says the wheelchair was his own personal property. Maxwell Ijeh further states that he was genuinely healed nine years ago after receiving prayer at T.B. Joshua's church. He also states that Jesus Christ alone is his healer, not a man. Maxwell Ijeh states that his wheelchair was not purchased by Paul Agomoh as alleged in the video.

Pastor Paul Agomoh alleged that Westerners were duped and manipulated into believing that T.B. Joshua had a 'healing anointing' on his life, when according to Agomoh the healings were fake and staged. This is another unsubstantiated lie of Paul Agomoh.

Fact: Jaco van der Westhuzen, a superstar rugby player from South Africa sought out prayer from T.B. Joshua due to a career threatening leg injury. Immediately after prayer, Jaco was filmed removing his leg brace and proceeded to leap and run without any pain or limitations. He returned to his rugby team and to this day, continues his sports career. Upon returning to South Africa, Jaco van der Westhuzen completed a medical evaluation. This video footage shows Jaco's doctor who standing by his side celebrating that something amazing did occur in the healing of this professional athlete. (Forward to frame 3.35 sec).

Fact: A delegation of respected clergy from the USA and Canada visited the Synagogue Church of All Nations to observe first-hand T.B. Joshua preach and pray for the sick. Among this delegation were Bishop Joseph Garlington of Philadelphia-USA, Pastor John Arnott of Toronto, Canada, Missionaries Rolland and Heidi Baker of Iris Ministries and others.

They carefully listened to his messages, they interviews individuals whom T.B. Joshua prayed for and thereafter claimed were healed. I have posted video footage of their findings. The evidence is clear. People were in fact healed after prayer. This is not opinion, speculation or guess work - is is fact. According to their reports T.B. Joshua make it abundantly clear that he is not a healer, but it is the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through the believer that produces the miracles. It is faith in the matchless name of Jesus Christ and confidence in God's ability to honor His promises in scripture.

These facts underscore the importance of why we must obey scripture and hear both sides of the story. This sacred responsibility can not be ignored or forsaken.

The female in the video, one Theresa Bisola Johnson who claimed that T.B. Joshua sexually abused her is untrustworth to say the least. Listen and watch the following video:

In this video footage we hear Bisola Johnson confession from her own mouth that she is an ‘emere’ (witch) on assignment to destroy the ministry of T.B. Joshua.

SHAME ON CHRIS OKOTIE

Failure to obey the Word of God is rebellion, disobedience and according to scripture - it is witchcraft. To bear false witness against a innocent brother or sister in Christ is to avail oneself to become an agent of demonic forces.

In my next report I will cover the allegations made by one; Pastor Chris Okotie of Household of God Church in Oregun-Lagos.

He alleges that T.B. Joshua has the spiritual ability to vacate his physical body at night and manifest himself in the home of his church parishioners or his enemies.
According to Pastor Chris Okotie, T.B. Joshua did in fact can appear as a 'familiar spirit' in his home using such spiritual powers. (Source: Christian Online Magazine)
Pastor Chris Okotie alleges that he has reason to believe that T.B. Joshua is a practitioner of 'docetic gnosticism'. He says that this is the source of T.B. Joshua's demonic spiritual powers.

Fact: Docetic Gnosticism is a belief held by ancient Greeks of 70A.D. to 100 A.D. It taught that Jesus Christ was not physically raised from the dead, but was an illusion. (Source; Wikipedia Encyclopedia) Docetism died out in approximately 100 A.D. It has nothing to do with occultism, spiritual or mystical arts. Therefore, its' impossible for T.B. Joshua or anyone in our lifetime to study or practice docetic gnosticism.

Pastor Chris Okotie is obviously a poor student of Gnosticism and bible history. Should we even waste time entertaining his belief that T.B. Joshua has the power to leave his body at night and appear in a physical form as a Familiar Spirit? Where is the proof? Where are witnesses other than than the accuser? I don't buy that fabricated story for one moment.

There is no evidence whatsoever to prove that allegation. It is based on superstition, myth and folklore. I am compelled to believe that Chris Okotie has other motives for coming against T.B. Joshua. This investigation will certainly be continued.

By the way, I paid a visit to Mr. Okotie's church website - http://www.householdofgodchurch.com/childrenschurch/. He sure looks very sharp in that wonderful suit, but the name of Jesus Christ is not even featured on his website.

There is not a one sentence on the saving grace and love of Christ anywhere to be found. Can a reader please encourage this man to get his priorities and his message in order?

Late this year Pastor Okotie accused Pastor Christ Oyakhilome of Christ Embassy Ministries to have received his powers to heal the sick from T.B. Joshua. Everyone in Nigeria knows this is untrue. Pastor Oyakhilome has been praying for the sick long before T.B. Joshua's rise to fame. Wake up church! The lies and slander must stop.

The umbrella body of Pentecostals has banned miracle crusades from being telecast on Nigerian T.V. What a shame!

Not only is this move in direct opposition to the work of the Holy Spirit, it makes a statement to the whole world. It is an announcement to the world that 'Pentecostals', do not have the same Spirit and power of Pentecost as our name suggests. It is a statement which says, the Spirit that raised Jesus Christ from the dead according to Romans 8:11 - is not present in Nigerian Christian leaders.

Wake up church of Nigeria! Pray for your church pastors. Pray for a mighty revival of God's power to invade your beloved country and then, STAND UP for truth, honesty and Godly integrity.

PoliticsWikileaks: Gov. Jang Lagely Responsible For Jos Crisis by knightride(op): 3:33am On Sep 18, 2011
[b]A new revelation has been made on the protracted crisis in Jos, Plateau State, which has claimed hundreds of lives in the last three years.

WikiLeaks, the controversial online whistleblower, has fingered Governor Jonah Jang for being largely responsible for the mayhem.

The revelation was contained in one of the cables, which originated from the Embassy of the United States (U.S.) in Abuja in December 2008, and formed part of the 251,287 such confidential communications from 1966 to February 2010 between 274 American Embassies across the world which WikiLeaks began leaking via its website in November, 2010.

In the said secret cable, created on December 19, 2008, American embassy officials quoted State Security Service (SSS) operatives as blaming the stubbornness of Jang to go ahead with the conduct of the local government election against security advice for the crisis which has now refused to go away.

The release debunked claims by Jang and his then deputy, Mrs. Paulen Tallen, that armed men from Niger and Chad, either brought in by opposition parties or motivated by their own extremist views, had played a significant part in the November 27-28 Jos riots, rather it noted that the governor's claims was an  attempt to divert blame from himself, noting that he had been warned that the local government elections he was pushing to hold would likely spark violence.

“In response to Jang's allegations, the SSS officers commented that both sides in Jos bore part of the blame for touching off the riots. Both had seen the local government elections as the likely spark to re-ignite the conflict experienced in 2001 and 2004; both had been preparing for trouble for some time and, according to SSS, both bore a share of the blame for what followed.

“SSS also singled out Jang for criticism, noting that he had been warned by federal authorities that pushing ahead with the elections would likely lead to violence, but he insisted on proceeding anyway.

“They dismissed the bulk of his allegations as an attempt to find a "foreign devil" to use to divert criticism from his own mistakes,” the report said.

It reads in part: “On the allegations by the Governor and Deputy Governor of Plateau State that armed men from Niger and Chad, either brought in by opposition parties or motivated by their own extremist views, had played a significant part in the November 27-28 Jos riots, at the Ambassador's direction, Embassy offices checked with Nigerian State Security Service (SSS) to see if it could confirm or deny these allegations.”

“SSS noted that, while some Chadians and Nigerians were among those arrested during the riots, these were not brought in by Muslim extremist groups, nor were they affiliates of foreign extremists. They were, instead, long-resident laborers who participated in the conflict once it started. SSS did note that there was local premeditated organisation of Hausa-Fulani youth to either instigate or participate in violent acts connected to the Jos election.

“SSS contacts dismissed the Governor's claims as an attempt to divert blame from himself, noting that he had been warned that the local government elections he was pushing to hold would likely spark violence.”

Also writing on Tallen, the group noted in the report: “Plateau State Deputy Governor Pauline Tallen told the Ambassador December 2 that the riots in Jos were "a carefully devised plan" by Muslims from Chad and Niger to use local elections as the cover for violent attacks.

“In a later conversation the same day, Plateau Governor Jonah Jang told the Ambassador a slightly different story, blaming a Nigerian opposition political party for importing the armed men from Niger and Chad, as essentially mercenaries to fight against local people.

“Jang went further in a December 4 conversation with the Ambassador, claiming that the opposition party (presumably the ANPP, which is supported by most of the Hausa Muslims in Jos) brought in fighters from Niger and Chad, as well as from other parts of Nigeria, to attack the local Christian community.

“He described these men as "al Qaeda-like" outside extremists, and claimed that the SSS was holding a large group of these outsiders. He said SSS had extracted confessions from them that they had travelled to Jos for the purpose of causing violence during the elections.

“The Ambassador directed, given past intel reports of Chadians and Nigerians being connected to a Nigerian Islamic extremist leader in Borno State, Embassy offices to contact SSS to see if it would back up Jang's and Tallen's allegations.

“SSS officers acknowledged that there were some Nigeriens and Chadians among those being held in connection with the Jos violence. They strongly rejected, however, the Governor and Deputy Governor's claims that they had either started or directed the violence, or that any of them had connections to any known Islamic radical groups. The SSS officers characterised the arrested Nigeriens and Chadians as long-time residents of the Jos area who happened to participate in the violence once it started; there was no evidence that their participation was part of an organised extremist effort.

“There was some evidence of a few outside radicals from other parts of Nigeria joining in the conflict once it started, but SSS said they did not play any significant part in what happened, either. In addition, SSS reported that there was some premeditated organisation of Hausa-Fulani youth groups to instigate or participate in violence connected with the Jos election.

“They dismissed the bulk of his allegations as an attempt to find a "foreign devil" to use to divert criticism from his own mistakes. (Compass News)
