143 millions lines are connected today in Nigeria, more than half of that are making use of the internet service on their Smartphones, PC's and Tablets. Almost all of that average use more than 1 gigabyte worth of data monthly. That is, the normal Johnny on the street probably spends an average of #2000 surfing the web every month and #24,000 yearly. The amount goes higher when you move up a level higher to you and me. What are we doing with the data? Just scrolling through pages, viewing pictures and videos or actually doing something that could boost our financial status.

While some people may argue that people just want to buy data to do these, i have no problem with that. But i am aware there is no man on the planet who is comfortable with where he is. Human wants are insatiable, thus the hunger for improvement in every sphere of human nature. If you are one of such persons who has gotten to that point where you just don't feel right being on a Trillion Dollar per month platform which is the internet and not even able to make a single dollar off it, then this is for you.

Join fiverr today with your valuable data and start making money working from your living room. Fiverr is the world's foremost website for freelancers selling their skills starting from $5. That is $5 is the basic amount you can start selling a gig but you can have gig extras of upto $100, $200 and you can be making more than $1000, $2000 selling your skill on fiverr every month! For some people this may be too good to be true but it is true and hundreds of thousands are making money off it every day.

So where could I have gotten a credit history huh?

I show them my bank of America account and they saw the inflow of money which was actually good. I also have a seller account on eBay and amazon which I show them that I make good income every month but they need a credit history.
credit history falls in four categories good, zero, bad or fair.
you have a good inflow sweet! like i said a verifiable paid job weda incoming or the one u pay out are key in securing a facility.
also note that u have the right to ask what bench mark is the average to access certain facilities.
you may look good on paper to urself per inflow but does it meet their basic average inflow/outflow to qualify always ask questions and seek alternatives

Credit card/credit score/credit history are all interchangeable. A credit card gets you the credit score and history that you need.

Below is the article that you quoted:

@bold...what point are you even trying to prove? The article you quoted still confirms what I said, that employers often check your credit history.
stop bin a politician in all the bolded where did u see u will be denied a job based on some pulled unconsented credit score

kobe79, all he's trying to say is not all about international student, we all, know that most people will become PR on the long run.

From all the posts, I think if one is careful, you can successfully use a credit card

I was denied an apartment of my choice 2 days ago because I got no credit history.

No one cares about this I am an international student story. They need this credit history to show to show credibility
I can't count numerous places that ask for credit
sweetie a credit card and credit history are not directly related.

background checks done wen u want an apt are not based on credit card.
i know people with zero credit, no credit card but good stubbs who are getting apts of their choice condos sef

Thanks Kobe79. Wow this was a long lecture.

Wetin man go do now ?
i know its difficult to secure a big job now cos of status blah blah blah the lil one u have and funds coming fromhome and side biznesses continue to save even if its a lil ur account statement inflow and outflow will help a lot, pending when ur status changes and u start living big.

what happens is that if ur status changes tomorrow( u secure a big permanent job) and u think you need a home.

goto a financial coy with good integrity they will ask ur statement from existing bank and ur pay stubb or extra income they will approve an amount for u nonewill asku if u have credit card none.

your interest rate maybe a lil, more but i bet u it wont be bad

With this you just said, i should probably not be replying you. You could not even come up with one cogent reason why someone should not get a credit card when the hardworking and successful citizens all have one. Even businesses even have one as there are credit cards for businesses and credit history for businesses.
Quick question

have you or anyone ever bin asked if you have a credit card when applying for housing loan auto, employment etchuh?

Does an Intl student ideally need onehuh
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by kobe79: 1:09pm On Jul 28, 2015
@ Francis

you are basically running round the circle and over flogging the poor lil fly
No law in the USA permits an employer to deny u employment based on ur "credit history"

During the boom the credit scheme started out to majorly focus on ailing and healthy businesses with a view to making the economy stronger.

lol when you said landlords, mortgage and auto coys solely reach a negative decision based on credit history!!!!
There is always a first time for everyone but getting a credit card is not a PaNaCea for owning a home or car etc.

If you need a home to build from scratch or an already built one or a car questions asked are far from if you have a credit card or not.

my questio to you is why do you think an intl student need a credit card? a student is here to study even thouhh we know they all would wanna adjust status in furure, if they dont have the raw cash there is no needstaying in buying a house when they just coming in who go approve am or a car? there are millions of students jumping buses and living in apts. and still doing fine.
i amnt Obama and dont wanna be him just like dia are millions of americans on credit card i repeat credit card tgat is ur argument( stay in it) dia are also millions without it

bigfrancis21:
You may think you sound 'wise' in your write-up but you are merely projecting your unfounded fears about using a credit card. Maybe it is your fear that you are not disciplined enough to use a credit card wisely that you project that fear onto others.
I don't know where you are, whether in Nigeria or in the US, because I rarely come on here recently I must admit that your write-up is totally uncalled for. Anybody who is used to the american system knows that almost everything you do in this country depends on your credit history. From banks, to house application to job applications. To apply for government jobs here in DC, you MUST have a credit history. To rent certain apartments, the landlords NEED your credit history. To buy a car or house (often on loans from the banks), the banks need your credit history, which if you don't have they deny your application except you get an american with solid credit history to co-sign for you, just in case you default on your payment, they have someone to go to. Nobody in this america will be willing to co-sign for you except your parents (which is majority of co-signing cases in the US). To serve in the US military, a credit history is a must. A credit history sets you apart from the average american without a credit history whatsoever because it shows you are financially responsible.
Because you are scared of being indisciplined and over-spending on your limit should not mean others who are disciplined should not get what they NEED to move forward in this country. If you are scared of financial indiscipline, brace up and work on your weakness.
If you are really in the US and
Hardworking and well-meaning citizens in this country have established credit histories, starting from the president, vice, to congress members. Why should you not get one for yourself?
To move forward in this country, one NEEDS a credit history, especially if you plan to stay behind in the US after study.
@Stevecrun...the Nigerian system and American system are 2 different systems. Due to low taxation, and much less monthly bills in Nigeria one with a good salary cnn afford to save up and buy a car of their choice however in America it is different. High taxation plus rent and bills every month barely leaves much room for savings. A good car in this country starts from $5000/$10000, being the salary of some people every year. To buy a good house in the US, you need from $300,000 and above which you barely cannot save in 20 years of living in the US under the high taxation system. To buy a house, you need to go to the bank for a loan and the bank will need to see a credit history and credit score from you and if not they'll deny you. The same goes for a car. You obtain a car loan from the bank and the bank asks to see your credit history.
It is totally needless to compare the Nigerian system with the US system.

Anyone who is scared of getting a credit card because of not being able to control their spending habits should probably not get one anyway.

Referral bonus whatsoever is nothing. From my conversation with many international students studying here, many are barely aware of the credit card system or how it works or their need for it.
The smart disciplined fellows on this forum who have identified what they need to proceed in this country go for the needful. Imperiouxx will tell you better.

@ bigfrancis..

it is not advisable to use credit cards to pay for petty tins.
it is actually a bad bad decision it doesn't build your credit at all
i know banks and credit institutions that can cancel terminate or deny u if all you do is run cards at 7 eleven, Starbucks, dollar general etc.

yea i know they want u to spend big so of course they remain in biz.

if feeding becomes an emergency i have to run credit om then wahala dey i for kukuma go buy food stamp from people whey dey sell their own. shuoooooo

the average wise American will rarely rarely run their card for items less than 20bucks.
cash or debit is wat is used.

there are many other ways to build credit enlighten us on thoserather than the above
TravelRe: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 7 by kobe79: 12:09pm On Jul 28, 2015
@ above

Nothing comes as emergency/surprise to those who save, plan and are conscious of the future.

i know it is more difficult for intl student as per jobs and thst is reason why that CAtegory doesnt NEED it.

Say for eg you get a call from home and you cannot comfortably pay for a ticket comfortably from your pocketthen there is a big problem with your purpose and vision as per the American dream

Referral bonus one gets is not enough motivation to get a category of people into what they do not NEED

I want to build it to get a car and some other stuff. I figured credit helps a lot
Sweetie,

if you have bin living"fine" and finding your way around without it. better RUN away from it.
if your priority is car and other stuffs in order of preference you better save save save( from whatever means) by december you should be able to comfortably pay for a cash car.

Dont get. meshed in the American gbese system!!!!!!!!!!!!!

credit card benefits doesnot outweigh a disciplined, cut to coat savings culture dont forget the way credit card ststem is run is "casino" addictive ( hope u understand that)
the real purchasing power lies in your securing a good job and staying financially disciplined!

People habitually on credit cards are not the "big men" the big boys are those with raw cash in the bank grin
no matter how "small"
