InvestmentRe: Why Is First Bank's Share Price Falling by kokobaba: 8:20pm On Oct 11, 2014
Angelstartups:
Hello.

Several factors some of which include;

(1) Market forces (demand and supply)
(2) Market sentiment as a result of general elections coming next year
(3) Foreign/ local investors trading (selling) high volumes of their shares to buy treasury bills in the short term
(4) Profit taking

Do not be too bothered as a value investor, the bank will likely declare bonus and most certainly issue dividends by end of financial year. The fundamentals of the bank is solid as usual.
I doubt if the bank will declare any bonus.

I don't actually know the term to use for the stock market maybe it is spiritual analysis, discipline, luck, gambling or guesswork. Some peeps would have been accumulating fidelity thinking it would emerge as the preferred bidder cos it emerged as the 1st reserve bidder in the case of enterprise bank. Some were even waiting for the stock to get to 2.50 or less before boarding the bus cos it has been consistent in the area of negative ROE.

I congratulate all the people inside the skye train. With my little experience, have discovered that any stock goes up once there is a positive news attached. Even if it is a bad stock without audited result for years.

In this business of ours, nobody should be COCKSURE on any thing o except you are an insider. Mere mortals like us can only keep guessing. cheesy
Hmmm.. Unpredictable market indeed. The insiders are those who have an edge above every other person. Some already knew the preffered bidder on friday and took position ahead of time As from weds, skye bank will be difficult to get. I see skye getting to N5 very soon. Let the rally begin...

myjoy08: Sir, both stocks are very good fundamentally but i will choose Fidelity ahead of Skye presently...Happy Sallah to all our Muslims Brothers and Sisters in the house. Remember to continue to pray for the peace of the world!

Plz not a recommendation to buy or sell!
What is your criteria for choosing fidelity ahead of skye?
RomanceRe: Have You Ever Experience Love At First Sight? by kokobaba: 1:13pm On Oct 03, 2014
SexyFox post=/post/26830753:
I think you are wrong. My reasons below:
1. I hate light skin guys but he is fair.
2. I stay awy from short guys. He is short.
3. He has fat lips and fat nose which I normally hate.
This is not lust.

By the way I did not even talk with him. And I have seen way handsome guys before. I wouldnt even call him handsome in my dictionary of handsome.
My sister, there is nothing called love at first sight. It is just mere imagination. Love is a seed that grows overtime, it does not happen instantly.

carpenter: I would buy FBNH but I would not touch Transcorp and Oando now

I think FBNH is trading below its true potential....Transcorp seems too high and will like to see how Oando plays after some weeks.

N.B. I own shares in all three and am holding them
At 13.70, FBNH is cheap but it will still drop further. Plan entering between 10 and 12. Also watching transcorp and oando

kokobaba: You have a valid point in terms of the ROE. But getting a dividend yield of 10 to 12 percent @ the current price is okay by me
Also notice that diamond, fcmb and skye paid a dividend of 30k. Diamond bank that has not been consistent paying dividend paid 30k inspite of having a higher EPS. This is a company that paid dividend only twice in 5yrs. In terms of dividend, I would rather buy skye trading @ a cheaper price than diamond or fcmb trading @ a higher price. Why? Cos they will most likely pay the same amount of dividend next year I.e the 3 banks cos history has a way of repeating itself. Moreover, they are all tier 2 banks

UkwuAmu: What about the ROE ? There is a reason why its always underperforming . That it has fallen in price does not mean its cheap. There is something we dont know

immanuello: I don't see useless Skype getting that still.. This shoul go to fidelity but anything can still happen though fidelity bank is a bank that is very progressive, well runed and well capitalized and technically sound unlike the vulnerable bank (skyeb)
I still prefare skye bank to fidelity. Skye has low outstanding shares and a higher EPS.

Agbalowomeri: Appears ubcap has bottomed out
Sir, from experience u can not really tell when a stock has bottomed out. For instance, skye bank recently got to 2.57 while some people bought @ 2.9,3,3.5. Many even bought @ N4. Some did not even believe it will go below 2.6. It is impossible to time the market cos it could go either way. Nothing is certain. Buy @ a price less than the intrinsic value

stokfrick: the problem i have with most peeps in ds foum is that if they r not in a particular hot bus and others r, they must find a way to water it down. that is how it happened in FO and today they r licking their wounds for not boardind dat bus. that is how dey analyse heaven and earth on smn, then if them analyse finish d market go do him mind. then them go begin dey reanalyse again from under!
i want u to always rember that dis is NSE and that most of the times, d realities in d market becomes no respecter of our views here. so chilax!
I agree with u cos the market has a mind of its own and even in some cases does not consider the fundamentals of a company. I could remember so many brokers were discouraging people from buying forte oil but today it is among the best in terms of capital appreciation. The stock market is an unpredictable market. Who knows, it could even be the turn of the banks after the elections to enjoy capital appreciation. A favourable policy might just come up, nobody knows what will happen. Change is the only constant thing in life. Moreover, the banks won't be down forever.

Chibuking81: Any idea of what will be the fate of Transcorp share @ #5.7, when Transcorp Hotel finish with their IPO @ #10?, will it bring about positive or negative impact to the transcorp share price?.
From experience, I have vowed never to put a dime on any ipo cos most of these firms only use it to enrich themselves. I would rather hold on and buy @ a cheaper rate from the secondary market

Viewing too much Forbes' Richest List, Bloomberg Billionaires List and so forth...
But N7 billion is serious money. Many companies don't make up to that amount even as their revenue in a year

House, any info on the N7 billion naira fraud rocking Skye bank?
If this is real, its going to wipe off the PAT going forward.

kokobaba: U can't be too sure if it has actually bottomed out even though its a great bargain @ the current price . I think its still going to drop further cos speculators will take profits and presently there is no positive news to drive the stock price upward. Its okay @ the current price if u are going long term. The EPS for 2014 should be between 80k to N1.
One good thing about the stock is the consistency paying dividend. Even when it had a significant short fall in profit in a particular year declaring a pAT of 1.3 billion, it still paid a dividend of 5k. Some companies wouldn't have paid a dime. Diamond bank paid dividend twice in 5 years.

Agbalowomeri: If u were heavy on skye, immediately data started to come in with nose-diving growth, then u should have started to exit because it has nowhereelse to go other than down
I agree with u because for the past 15 months it has not attained a price of N5
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by kokobaba: 10:13am On Sep 09, 2014
I agree absolutely stock market investing is intelligent gambling. Imagine buying 10million units of skye bank @ N4 all at once only for the same stock to drop all the way down to N2.70 after a couple of months. Stock investment is a highly risky, unpredictable form of investment with a high level of volatility.
I believe a risk management approach to use if a person decides to invest in 3 stocks is to buy in tranches using the concept of naira cost average.
