hi doc.since friday i hv bn havn cold symptoms, slight headache,fever,slight chesty cough,body pains.i just came to d uk frm nigeria last sunday and d weather was very cold,right now i have lik goosebumps and i feel shiverish most times.ds is because my room is quite cold and my heaters havent bn turned on.please wat do u thnk is wrong? presently am takn a drug for colds and flu.wt do u suggest i do.

wat time in june 21 does it start? and pls what channel

HI doc, if smone experiences feeling of fullnes(especialy when they eat much) hence abdominal discomfort(mild) only in midle of d nyt,but en they urinate the discomfort goes and they ar fine during the day.Does this mean the persn hs apendicitis?
the discomfort does nt occur every night.

What is the way? Ignorance is a disease, but supporting ignorance is a crime. Look at your question about yeast infection and repeated use of carnesten. I'm sure you thought she gave you the best possible answer, right?

But she forgot to tell you about the conditions that give rise to candidiasis, and recurrent candidiasis for that matter. She did not tell you that personal hygiene, such as wet and dirty underwears could repeatedly give you yeast infection no matter how much anti-fungal you take.

Did she also tell you that medical conditions such diabetes could lead to repeated yeast infections?
Did she tell you that the ultimate cure for persistent yeast infection is to treat the root cause of the predisposing condition?
Finally, did she tell you that repeated use of carnesten and similar anti-fungal could kill your liver?

I could wait, or even ignore her forum and dangerous advice, but it wouldn't be right for the innocent patients on this forum who think that they are getting good and correct advice, or just looking for help.

There is no good way to correct such people, but one has to do it.

Would you rather loose your liver from repeated anti-fungal use than face the truth?

I congratulate you on the true desire to help people on this forum. However, we should all remember that the first rule of the Hippocratic oath is "Do no harm" If we practice medicine like the village chemists(who has medicines for every illness) we have all over Nigeria, we inevitably do harm to our patients on the long run.

I am just concerned about some of the advice you're giving to people on this forum. I don't mean any harm or disrespect, but I have seen 2 or 3 Ob/Gyne questions answered in such a way as might jeopardize patients, questions about anal fissures/breast sizes are purely surgical questions, even the question about weight gain for the Christmas when the patient is 51kg already. You recommended fatty food for this patient without knowing her height, or basic metabolic index--this patient may actually have an ideal body weight or she might have benefitted from some psychiatric/psychological counselling about her weight, yet you seemed to advice her to "load up" as a way of gaining weight. I don't need to tell you the dangers of gaining excessive weight at any time at all----christmas or not!

While I'm critical of your responses on purely clinical issues, you did an excellent job on propriatery identification and sourcing of many of the medications requested on this forum. However, you must not prescribe medications in isolation of physical examination and good history taking, otherwise you might end up doing harm.

Hello Koksy, nice thread you have going here. Please, I need to know what to take for aching and painful ankles. Am pregnant and in my early second trimester. I have multiple fibroids and my doc placed me on a weekly dose of Primolut N injection which I stopped on the 20th week. He didn't tell me the name but I managed to read his scrawl in my my card (hope I got it right). I would say the injection helped though, as I'd lost 3 previous pregnancies in the first trimester. This is my twenty-somethingth week and am going strong. I'm just wondering if the effect of the injection would not be adverse on the fetus. Thanks a bunch.

Just avoid it since ur pregnant to be on the safe side.But ther is no cause for alarm.

candida is a fungi and can be treated with antifungals creams/gels/tablets like canesten cream which is for topical application.Staph aureus is a bacteria that causes skin infections like boils.it is nt sexually transmitted.It can be treated with antibiotics like amoxicillin.

I suggest u go to a pharmacy and buy Vit C 1000mg, it is to be dissolved in water before taking.A good multivitamin like Supradyn would also help.

Its OK to repeat d drugs again.cos for infections they r hard to clear up and u shud complete d prescribed dose.Or better still u cn use single dose preparations that u cn insert at night like canesten pessary.

Where in nigeria are you? Good hospitals or a good pharmacy cn order the drug for you.mifepristone, also can stop or slow the growth of fibroids but its use is nt advised becauses it terminates pregnancy.i strongly advice u see ur doc asap cos most of these anti-fibroid drugs hv serious side effects. And also look up to God cos he is d greatest healer!

The ofloxacin is 200mg and i take it 2 times in a day,though i took one pkt and within two weeks the symptoms appeared again. So at the moment i am taking the second back. Secondly due to the type of job i do, i sit in the front of computer from 8am to 6pm so lately i observed that i always have pains around my waist and knee joints and my eyes are always heavy, please i need ur candid advice.

I suggest u finish taking the second packet of the ofloxacin,and let me know if the symptoms still occur.For ur pain hav u tried taking ibuprofen or paracetamol? And try and hv sm massages and reduce the number of hours u sit in a day because all this factors contribute to the pain.As for ur eyes being watery,it is because ur always on the computer.You can get a screen cover for ur computer.I hope i h bn able to answer ur question.If u hv any problm let me kno.

What mg was the ofloxacin? and hw long hv u bn taking it for? Remember it is an antibiotic and it is essential that you complete the prescribed dose or else the symptoms can reoccur and take ur medication regularly.If doing this does not still help,i advice u go to ur doctor and he shud gv u cefotaxime injection(that is if ur nt allergic to penicillin).

prmolut N contains norethisterone, and in pregnancy if this drug is used it can cause masculination of female foetuses and other defects.Its best u avoid it to be on the safe side.R u pregnant at the moment?
