President Obama cracked some dad jokes and danced to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at his last Halloween celebration at the White House Monday.
"You guys all look scary, or cool, or whatever you're trying to be," Obama told the assembled trick-or-treaters. "We hope, parents, that on this day at least, you don't have to pay attention to Michelle and healthy eating."
"Candy for everybody," the first lady agreed.
"And in fact, the more candy, the later you eat the candy, the better," said the president. "Because I think that you being up all night with a sugar rush is exactly what your parents are looking for."
The Obamas decorated the South Lawn of the White House and welcomed more than 4,000 people for trick-or-treating, mostly from 15 Washington-area elementary schools and military families. Treats came in the form of Hershey Kisses, Halloween cookies, M&Ms, Fruit Bars, Kettle Corn, Bo and Sunny baseball cards and other assorted candies. Tricks were forbidden by the Secret Service.

one of those moments I feel ashamed to be a Nigerian. I don't understand why there is so much hysteria about the leaked sex video of a private citizen. In my opinion, this should not make the news. There are far too many sanctimonious and judgmental people who take it upon themselves to be morality police in this country. They pontificate on how sinful sex is yet they seek out the leaked sex video and all forms of porn on the internet.

The morality police turn a blind eye when prepubescent girls are given out in marriage to men old enough to be their grandfathers but as soon as consenting adults engage in premarital or gay sex they start twitching. How is it anybody's business what two or more consenting adults choose to do with their bodies if they are not hurting a third party or forcing you to have sex with them?

Do you want something really worthwhile to talk about? Do you want to talk about something that every decent person should be angry about? I will give you it. Only this month, the Emir of Katsina reportedly married a fourteen-year-old girl, assaulting her dignity and innocence in the process but our society hardly took notice. Child-bride marriage is so common in northern Nigeria that it is considered a normal way of life.

This is a matter that has serious consequences for the lives of young people. It should concern every citizen because it destroys the lives of our children. It stops girls from going to school to get an education, which in turn affects their prospects of getting good jobs and becoming financially independent later in life. These girls are more likely to develop abnormal connections between their vagina, bladder, and rectum during childbirth, which then causes them to become incontinent of feces and urine. The resultant malodor very often leads to isolation and social ostracism or even divorce by their husbands who simply marry the next child-bride. It is a lot of psychological trauma for anybody to deal with let alone a teenage mother. These young mothers end up begging on the streets when their elderly husbands divorce them. Sadly, their children are left to the mercies of hostile step-mothers and may end up as street beggars just like their unfortunate mothers.

The evidence shows that children born to educated mothers have better outcomes than those born to teenage mothers with no education or job. When you educate a woman you empower the whole family and by extension the society. Look around, and you will notice that the most progressive and affluent societies in the world are the ones that have educated and empowered their women. It seems to me that the Nigerian society is confused and has its priorities the wrong way round. Why are we angry when adults (married or not, gay or straight) engage in consensual sex but turn a blind eye when children are raped by adults in the name of tradition?

As a secular humanist, I do not look to any religious book or gods for morals. I apply reason, common sense, judgment, and empathy in decision-making. If two or more adults engage in consensual sex and this does not harm anybody then it is none of my business. Period! I think our self-righteousness and propensity to be judgemental come from religion. Islam and Christianity condemn homosexuality and consensual sex between unmarried adults but are silent on the matter of pedophilia. Catholic priests have gained an ugly notoriety for sexually molesting young boys all over the world. The prophet of Islam married a prepubescent girl when he was in his fifties and many Muslims cannot be persuaded to abandon this practice. Despite unparalleled religiosity, our society is one of the most decadent in the world - we are almost always near the top of the list of the most corrupt countries in the world. Many Nigerian children endure years of sexual abuse by close relatives such as uncles, aunties, cousins, house-boys, house-girls or family friends. To think some of these perverts are now sitting in judgment over Miss Anambra and her friend is nauseating and outrightly hypocritical.

The outgoing Miss Anambra, Chidinma Okeke, was a top trending issue on Google search this week, not for winning another beauty pageant, but for a leaked sex video that went viral, according to a Daily Trust's report.


According to a statement by Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager, Anglophone West Africa, the issue was trending from Oct. 19 to Oct. 26.

Kola-Ogunlade said that in the entertainment industry, the internet showed how a #Beauty Queen Became a Hashtag.


“The viral video unveiled a beauty queen’s sexual preference and drew people’s attention.


“The beauty queen went on her social media pages to deny the video.


“She explained that her face was superimposed on an existing picture,’’ he said, adding that the beauty queen said it was an attempt by hoodlums to blackmail her.


Also top on Google search this week was the coronation ceremony of the newly-crowned Oba of Benin, Kola-Ogunlade said.


Long Live the King! After several weeks of traditional rites, Eheneden Erediauwa was finally crowned as the 39th Oba of Benin, he said.


The Google manager said that the crowned head would now be called Oba Ewuare II after the famous Benin ancestor who was credited with many significant legacies in Benin.

Barely a year after she won the Miss Anambra beauty pageant, Chidinma Okeke is embroiled in a sex tape scandal.

A video which appears to show the beauty queen and a female partner playing out a racy scene, sent social media on a meltdown. Blogs ran the story. Folks who had yet to see the clip asked for links to download them. Not long after the clip surfaced, the 300 level Medical Laboratory student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, denied featuring in the racy film.

According to Chidinma Okeke, the tape was the works of blackmailers; folks wishing her ill who have gone extreme lengths of using a photo editing tool to superimpose her face into the clip, as she could not have engaged in such ‘amorous’ act.

"My attention has been drawn to a concocted photograph/ video being circulated in the social media wherein my face was superimposed on an existing picture of persons engaging amorous conduct through the art of photo shopping,” she wrote on her Instagram.

Adding, “This act is perpetrated by hoodlums who are out to blackmail me or tarnish my image and promising career by presenting me in bad light.”

The Orumba North beauty queen went on to add that she is a “highly responsible person who was brought up in a family with impeccable reputation. I can therefore not subscribe to such act how much more engage in same.”

Many Nigerians have refused to accept the explanation of the immediate past Miss Anambra. On her Instagram, trolls dragged the beauty queen. Some threatened, while others cited the religious and cultural lines she overstepped. Unable to bear the barrage of attacks, Ms Okeke made her Instagram private and is yet to speak up since then.

However, there are also a crop of Nigerians who are concerned for Ms Okeke’s safety. Only last month, an Italian woman, 31-year-old Tiziana Cantone, killed herself after sex tape featuring her went viral. This has sparked major debate on the public shaming and violence against women. Sadly, Ms Cantone is only receiving major sympathy after her death.

For Ms Okeke’s case, a crop of Nigerians are struggling valiantly to raise awareness on the dangers of cyber-bullying, how the blackmailers are being enabled when society focuses its rage on victims, while on the flip side Nigeria ranks top five in the Google list of countries searching for homosexual porn photos and videos on the internet.

“Isn’t it criminally funny that while we are all gearing up to crucify Chidimma, the demonic bastard who breached trust and released the video online with the sole aim of destroying the beauty queen yet wastes oxygen that should be used by real humans” Facebook user, Charles Ogbu, asked.

And Viola Ifenyinwa Okolie [/b] noted that [b]“blackmail is becoming a fine art and another means of showcasing our double standards in this country.” She called the DSS to “shift their focus away from social media accounts of vocal opposition figures, and search out for prosecution, all these “blogs” that accept and run videos and pictures of blackmailers’ victims.”

“They are accessories to blackmail and can lead the law to wherever they got their videos from,” Ms Okorie continued. “They and their accomplices are the criminals. The actors in the movies can only offend our sanctimoniously hypocritically misplaced sense of morality, they are victims too.”

Many states in the US have adopted an invasion-of-privacy statute, criminalising revenge porn, Italy is having a conversation about this, but activists are still struggling to get the Nigerian Senate to sign a bill which will protect women.

The Special Fraud Unit (SFU) in Lagos, revealed on Monday that a suspected fraudster, one Babatunde Oyebode (pictured) was arrested for allegedly attempting to blackmail and swindle high profile businessmen and Nigerians. Oyebode's victims submitted different petitions to the SFU, accusing him of fraudulently running a website, naijagistlive.com to send threat messages to people, demanding for huge sums of money to pull down negative stories about them or delete comments.

Now, initial investigation by LIB into the website, revealed that back in March 2016, someone tried to expose Oyebode and his partner's fraudulent activities in the comment section of a post put up on the site (Read here)



We can now exclusively confirm that Babatunde Oyebode has confessed to extortion of cash and other items through blackmail using naijagistlive's scandalous posts and this is fact!

Oyebode, popularly known as Baudex on social media, in a video confession to the Police stated that he co-owns the website. He runs it with a lady, believed to be based outside Nigeria.

Email correspondence between him and his accomplice revealed that he was mainly responsible for upgrades on the site, to prevent it from being shut down by hackers. They conversed with one another about extorting their victims, revealing that Paypal and other means are used to receive whatever amount of cash they demand.

They also had conversations about receiving various payments, which victim had paid or not, and price plans for any removal. Huge sums of money have been paid by Nigerians to take down comments!

A particular conversation was highlighted, in which Oyebode and his accomplice spoke about one of the female victims, describing her in unpleasant terms and agreeing to put up a post about her. Incriminating voice notes were also found on his phone.




Also, Oyebode's girlfriend was in contact with his partner in crime through his account on Instagram after his arrest. Investigators initially had access to the account where chats between Oyebode's girlfriend and 9jagistlive were found, in which she revealed she just found out he had been arrested and wanted to know the next step. Suspecting that something was amiss, the password was quickly changed but the damage had already been done.The police is now out to arrest his girlfriend.

Oyebode was picked up by the Police during his third attempt to extort a businessman in Lagos. LIB can authoritatively confirm that after extorting thousands of dollars from the said business man, he continued to make attempts to blackmail and demand for more, saying that he had more stories to run. This was however how he met his waterloo, as he was arrested while trying to pick up the money paid into his Nigerian account.

Eight suspected prostitutes and three men have been arrested by the Lagos State Government at the abandoned home of former National Security Adviser, Gen. Andrew Owoye Azazi in Ikoyi, Lagos state.

Officials of the Lagos State Taskforce on Environmental and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit and the police from Ikoyi Police Station, today stormed Azazi’s abandoned house at Number 5 Club Road, Ikoyi and arrested the women and the men. The arrest is part of the Lagos State Government’s clean up exercise in Ikoyi and Victoria Island which have been overtaken by illegal and abandoned structures.



One of the suspected prostitute named Patience Ajoke, said prior to their arrest, nobody had come there to warn them against using the home of the late military chief.
“I don’t know anything happening in the compound until Saturday when they came to arrest us by police from Ikoyi Police Station, they released us to come back and pack our things, when we were inside to pack our loads, they came back and arrested us again. Nobody has come to warn us to stay away from there,” said Patience Ajoke, one of the suspected prostitutes.


20 year old Mary Augustine from Benue state said contrary to claims by the task force officers, she is a cleaner and not a prostitute.
Chairman of the Lagos task force unit, Yinka Egbeyemi refuted claims by the women that they weren't prostitutes.
“We have been there once with the DPO of Ikoyi Police Station. They sell ‘paranga’ aka alcohol in that place. During the clean up exercise, we were asked to move there again. We saw policemen and military men there and all sort of human beings. They are doing prostitution business there. We are going to charge them to court' he said.

A man who stole a bunch of plantain in a community in Abia State was stripped naked and paraded around the town with the stolen item tied around his neck.

The young man who was driven by poverty due to the harsh economic situation in the country was given a strange jungle justice he never expected after he was caught stealing.

According to reports, the man who is from Obohia village in Ukwa-East Local Government Area of Abia State was caught stealing a bunch of plantain and the residents of the community decided to teach him a lesson he would not forget in a hurry.

Eyewitnesses say the young man was stripped naked, beaten to a pulp and tied the bunch of plantain around huis neck and paraded him around the town for all to see.
