PoliticsAlcohol Consumers In Akwa-Ibom To Pay Taxes by Kolababe(op): 12:24am On Mar 07, 2016
People who consume alcohol in Akwa Ibom will now be made to pay tax. The State’s Commissioner for Finance, Akan Okon, made the announcement yesterday while speaking with Journalists in Uyo.

“Some people who lodge in hotels and consume alcohol will henceforth pay taxes to the state government. The focus is to look inward to see how the various opportunities that are available in the state can be harnessed to raise the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR),’’ the commissioner said.

The commissioner also decried the attitude of some businessmen in the informal sector of the economy who fail to pay their taxes to government. He noted that if they paid their taxes, it would help the state pull resources together and that would help in providing social amenities for citizens.

If you can’t handle alcohol, don’t drink at all or else you’ll end up like this guy who drank too much, passed out and forgot about his most valuable asset.
This ninja had one too many and ended up showing everyone too much when he forgot to close his zipper. The rather funny picture is currently doing rounds on social media, and everyone seems to be bashing the guy.

Well, it's weekend, and you might feel tempted to go out with your friends because everyone is turning up, but remember your life is valuable than the drops of whiskey.

Drink responsibly.

Millitarilize this to world class standard, make variants and of course produce locally, sell to the outside world and watch our country climb gradually the steps of greatness. Innovations are just small tweaks we overlook..

But we all just laugh it off...
Unfortunately, we have leaders that do not care to see Nigeria take center stage in the world. All they care about is the quick oil money.

Hmm, after the dude has had a feel of her Kitty lipsrsealed. This is why ladies need to chill before jumping into another relationship after a failed one. Unfortunately, some ladies act as if they can't live a day without being in a relationship. The Actress has dissociated herself from the romantic fling she had with film producer, Seun Egbegbe. She shared a statement

"Without going into details of why I went into an affair with Mr Seun Egbegbe, I am very much aware a lot look up to me as a role model and considering this salient fact, a detour at this point is very necessary.
However, against the backdrop of my moral responsibilities to my fans and the general public, I wish to state unequivocally that henceforth, I dissociate myself from Mr Seun Egbegbe. A Benin Bronze Cockerel statue that graces the hall of Jesus College of the famous Cambridge University and which has become it's symbol for a very long time has become the source of serious debate. Now, it's been unanimous agreed that the artifact be repatriated to Nigeria, from where it was looted in the 19th century. Many international media including the U. K Guardian have been written about it this year, but it seems Nigeria is too bedeviled with the issue of Naira depreciation to care about one of its cultural heritages. Below is a new report about the bronze Cockerel as published by The Mancunion, Britain's biggest student newspaper....

Following the Cecil Rhodes controversy at Oxford University, Jesus College Cambridge has witnessed a similar debate in its own Students’ Union. The Benin Bronze Appreciation Committee (BBAC) put forward the motion to return the statue to Nigeria in a repatriation ceremony, in an effort to “weed out the colonial legacies that exist” in the University. The 11-page document that proposed the motion emphasises that the gesture to return the cockerel would be the “just” thing to do.

The sculpture, named “Okukor”, along with several other Benin Bronze items, was looted by the British during the ‘Punitive Expedition’ in 1897. The expedition is remembered as a brutal act of imperialism, in which the British killed thousands of citizens and destroyed the city of Benin, leading to an annexation of the Kingdom. Nigeria has made several requests for Benin artwork to be returned to its rightful home, as the art is essential to Nigerian history and culture. Students state the returning of the okukor would provide mutual benefit both for the university and Nigerian culture.

The Benin bronze cockerel has been situated in Jesus College since the 1930s. The cockerel is the mascot for the College, named after its founder, John Alcock, the Bishop of Ely. Students suggested Okukor could be replaced with something of the college’s choice.

The BBAC presented their debate successfully, meaning that the College’s council will discuss their proposals on the 7th of March. It was a unanimous decision in the Students’ Union, however there has been discussion elsewhere to allow the cockerel to tour different places of the world. Jonathan Jones from The Guardian argues that this way it can be seen by many people, whilst being reminded it is a piece of Nigerian culture.

Jason Okundaye, a Pembroke College student involved in the discussion, brought forward the point that black students should have more say in the cockerel’s repatriation.

CrimePhoto: We have Human Abattoirs And Sell Human Skull For N25,000 - Suspect by Kolababe(op): 8:23am On Mar 01, 2016
50-year old Kamoru Oladele pictured below, has been arrested for selling human parts for N25,000 and N30,000 and owning a human abattoir in Oyo and Osun states.

According to Vanguard, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, while parading him at the state Police Headquarters in Ibadan, said the breakthrough was made by the special anti-kidnapping squad of the Command after receiving intelligence report on the activities of the suspects.

When interrogated, Kamoru said
“I am a herbalist and I do fortune charms for people. I am not the one that usually sells human parts. I buy from some people. This is my first time of engaging in this kind of business. I usually buy the human skull for N10,000 and sell it for N25,000 for those that come for fortune charms".
When police searched his house, they alleged that one smoked human skull was recovered and that the suspect used coded words for different human parts. The herbalist said the words can only be decoded by their initiates, adding that “a human head that sells for N30,000 is called agbon (coconut).”

He also disclosed that the human abattoirs where the ritualist sell human parts is located at Amuloko and Kuta villages in Oyo and Osun states, respectively.

CaroLyner:
how? huh did she ask for her news to be posted here?
invalid point.
Madam, nobody has ever asked to be in the news. People become news with things they do. Once you do a thing that meet one of these 6 elements, you become newsworthy

1.prominence:Is it about someone that is famous or that people believe to be of great significance or importance?

2.Oditty: There is a reason why videos of animals doing crazy things are so popular on YouTube. We are attracted to things that are a little strange, out of the ordinary and unusual.

3. Conflict: violence, war, breach of peace etc are instant attractions

4.Suspense: Now you know why people love to read stuffs about magic

5. Emotion: Anything that speaks to people's experiences and conveys real emotion will help them to connect with your message. That's why the romance section of Nairaland gets huge traffic

6. Impact: if the happening has an impact on people's lives, then it's news

In the case of Sophia, she became newsworthy the moment she dated Wizkid who is a popular(prominence) person. You are also arguing over her right now for that same reason.

Thank you for Learning Ma.
