Hello guys, I was scheduled for nterview on 8th of June according to the invite, unfortunately I saw a rescheduled date of 10th of June on my application information then again I realised just yesterday that a link for 8th of June schedule was sent to me but I didn't notice because it's on my spam. I have sent several emails to virtual4@ptdf.gov.ng and info@ptdf.gov.ng with evidence of the misinformation all to no avail. I am currently trying to use the link sent for 8th of June but it's not working. Please what can I do?

Right from the onset, I knew they could be challenges with this virtual.

You can wait on the link and hope someone gets you in, but the most assured way at this moment is to take excuse from wherever you are and head to Abuja centre if you can. At this point, flight is your only option.

Most of us can testify of the sacrifices we made to reach our centres, the hotel bookings, absent from work, transportation etc.... its all about sacrifices. if you can, go to a centre, don't wait.

For those that did interview today in Abuja, I hope the traffic restriction due to the ongoing APC convention didn't affect your movement?

An easy way to do the shortlisting is to select the 'top candidates' from each state. Using computer software - the top candidates can be calculated easily by assigning points to each category of submission - WAEC, BSc Grade, MSc grade, publications, professional memberships etc. Despite we not knowing the exact scoring details, it is expected that those with the highest qualifications will have the highest marks - (this is without the interview component being scored).

Ofcourse the interview marks can swing and rearrange the list. For example if before interview someone with 70 marks got 30 in interview, and someone with 72 got 20 marks in interview, despite the initial being higher, the interview would change the overall marks.

In addition, WAEC results can also swing the results in favour of anybody irrespective of the current ranking based on BSc grade. Some people had excellent grades in their Olevels.

Based on the forensic examination I did on some samples in the list, I think the order is based on the class of BSc grade. i.e 1st Class , 2:1 etc.

I doubt....if not I no for be number 120 for my state. I no too bad like that.

I'd disagree that the order is based on score for two reasons.
1. That won't be very much in my favor lol
2. On a serious note softwares usually sort based on creation (submission) date and time. We're seeing a list made up of either a first come, first serve or last come first serve or what you guys have alluded. This is most likely the case IMO.

If they are picking 4/5 in a state, definitely they won’t pick 2 persons from same LG. It is an obvious fact already now. How can you pick 2 person from 1 LG out of 5 persons selected in a State having 23 LG?

If you are not seeing yourself as the best in your LG, then you are out of this race already. Also, not all LG will have representative.

I once had a state scholarship as a student which they paid for two years and took to their heels..lol.
State considers LGA during selection.
Country considers State during selection.
After all, na only 4 or 5 people dem go select out of about 200 candidates per state.

The probability that even two people from the same LGA to be top 5 is zero. Lol. Hence, LGA factor doesn't come in.

Funny when you ask if Cyber security is not available in Nigeria. Is there any course that is not available in Nigeria? Almost 80% if not more than. There is much more to course availability please.

N/B: Cyber security and Oil and gas and banking sector are inseparable. I work in IT in an Oil and Gas and to start with, it is one of the most funded departments in the industry.

Going by the successful list for last year, I think computing and IT field have had a good success rate of about 2 in 5 for all states for both Msc and Ph.D.

*Any course that you can do the program here in Nigeria not need for overseas* This is not a fact. Mechanical engineering, chemical engineering and electrical engineering, you can do them in Nigeria yet I have seen PTDF scholars in these fields of engineering.

Not an accurate judgement.
We have most courses in this country. Take for instance a single course like Chemistry.
But my dear, you can't beat the exposures and state of the art learning facility and labs that studying abroad will give you.
For instance, I know someone that did software engineering in masters in a public institution here in Nigeria, they never wrote a single code.

Meanwhile, from my observation, I think Imo is the most competitive state and Taraba or so with about 12 candidates is the least competitive. (Only MSC UK)

LMAO I just figured the list out, theres a list for GFM and one for UK below.

There's a total of 247 applicants shortlisted from my state. 103 for GFM and 144 for UK.

Please don't let us derail this thread about tribalism. There is competition in all respective states.

I am thinking that recommendation from the panellists have the greatest factor of being successful due to the competition.

Next month, the successful lists will be out and many people here will win it. There wont be any exception.

The list might probably not be complete then. For him to have received the mail invitation means he was qualified.

As much as I have heard success stories from people who had no one looking out for them I have also heard some horror stories about the selection process and if you're from the North you're more in danger of getting trampled on.

In as much as this could be true, I refuse to put this in mind. Moreso, the list of final winners would definitely come from those earlier invited for interview. If not, they had better planned the hijack well. Lol. Because ppl go dig am out.

After seeing the list ehnnn...hmm, let us go and relax first. No matter how well you did at the interview, the list is almost endless. At this point. We hope for miracles.

Getting this scholarship borders on grace/luck. The competition is very stiff. In my state for UK PhD there are 50 candidates and 23 candidates for GFM PhD. And from past lists, there would be 2-3 successful scholars from each group.

Everyone should just go and start praying. Lol

From my point on view, all this Degree and O'level grading doesn't count, I think they were used to initially shortlist the candidates who met their stipulated requirements and scored high points from their state. PTDF clearly stated it out on their interview notice written boldly that "ONLY CANDIDATES WHO PERFORM VERY WELL IN THE INTERVIEW WILL BE SHORTLISTED" looking at the past scholars stories, almost all had a good Interview story, many got scholarship without publications, professional membership and with lower grades. D Interview is to check ur originality of ur certificates too. That's my view and stand to be enlighten

Actually, "CANDIDATES WHO PERFORM VERY WELL IN THE INTERVIEW WILL BE SHORTLISTED" statement is a bit not clear. Might comprise certificates too because they were busy entering scores on their laptops. At the same time, no one asked for experience. It's totally vague.

I assumed one can deduce the marks for 2.2 from the pattern of the marks. It is 9 marks and no mark awarded to experience. Industry experience can only help you to get shortlisted for interview with 2.2 degree and nothing more than that.

According to the last year's marking scheme for PhD: First degree was 15 points if you have first class while 12 points for second class upper, masters was 15 points if you have distinction while 12 for merit, o level 15 points if you have 5A1 (A1 is 3 points, B2 is 2.5 points, B3 is 2 points, C4 is 1.5 points, C5 is 1 point and C6 is 0.5 point), Publication is 5 points, membership certificates 10 points (5 is required) and interview/proposal takes the remaining 40 marks.
But it seems they made some changes this time around.

As stated on ptdf scholarship advert, where is the mark for someone with 2.2 and 20 years industry experience �

Your 5 B2 will fetch you 25 points
Your 5 B3 will fetch you 20 points

Then, your first degree is also like 30 points if you made a first class.

Lol. Giving this much marks to something like O level that wouldn't make much impact. What happens to actual industry experience with many years? The whole marks seems to be exhausted on O level grade and first degree.
