I have been following this platform for a while now. I decided to comment based on the post stating most awarded were as a result of high connection. Ok i have been applying for PTDF scholarship since 2018 and for all my interviews, the panelists were always impressed giving positive comments even going as far as teasing me to get my bags packed but sadly i never made the list not until now(2022) .
Yes i have 8 distinctions in my O levels 6As and 2Bs. Graduated with first class honours in petroleum and gas engineering. I have over 6years of experience in oil and gas sector working with producing and servicing companies, within and outside the country. I am also a professional member of SPE lagos chapter. Despite having good proposals, i didn't make the list until my 4th attempt.
The end truth is luck also plays in this scheme.

I perceive the list to be Merit based.
I didn't get it o..e pain..but I have people from my state who are my friends that got it..they virtually cried and to crown it all, they are very sound. One I belive possesses credentials that surpasses mine.

Hello everyone.

In the past, PTDF have even released Merit list in September and almost all scholars travelled that same September because PTDF paid for priority and superpriority visa. This happened in September 2017 so you dont need to panic.

They are attending to stakeholder lists now (NYSC award winners, NNPC and DPR workers and special lists from government officials i.e senators, commissioners, house of rep, governor e.t.c).

The main reason PTDF has not been scrapped is because of the stakeholder lists and not because of the poor and nobody like us who are or will be on the Merit list.

Just calm down and stay focus. Look for plan B. I once stated the opportunities and some people have travelled to USA after winning full scholarship. Even 2.2 graduates are winning Canada and USA scholarship. You have no excuse. Put it the work.

Overall, it is going to be fine in the end. The prayer focus should be making the list. They dont want Merit and Stakeholder lists winners to meet. Most Stakeholders lists winners are government officials children so you wont hurt them.

Why would a senator or governor or NNPC worker send names when they can finance the whole thing by themselves. Scholarships are meant for those who can't afford to sch on their own..

Last I heard Priority visa option is not available anymore for Tier 4 visas, so you'll need about 3 weeks or more from submission date to get your visa.

That should not be a concern.
Even if PTDF comot list by September, they sure have a way round it.

Bro, even the US and Canada universities are not that easy unless you have contacted a Professor who is keen in welcoming you to his/her research group before submitting your application on the general admission portal. Without this, most applicants waste a lot of dollars on application fees every year to US/Canadian universities unlike UK universities that doesn't even charge for application fees (except for few that does). I was once a victim too. Don't forget GRE, IELTS , WES evaluation etc are needed in most cases and these are not cheap either.

My brother, talking of admission fees, I had to pay in dollars, that money pain me ehnn, do passport etc and no be say dem don even give the scholarship first o. Las las, my name no come outside. Some even require you get admissions in two or three. My friend did IELT, her two years don pass, she never use am get scholarship.

In all, I'm not saying these investments are bad or that people don't get scholarships but I find it draining to some. I better use that money pursue certifications.

That is human nature.

Everyone should try and look for scholarships other than PTDF. Dont put all eggs in one basket. Most USA and Canada schools give scholarships if you have a good profile.

E get as other scholarships de sha. They are actually investments on their own...from IELT to police clearance, stuffs like that and countless essays.. I remember writing almost 12 essays for commonwealth scholarships.

I think PTDF is one of the easiest and simplest scholarship to apply. So, if e no work...we try again..

If WAEC and First Degree aren't so significant as such , then your assertion and your current award seem to confirm the announcement in which PTDF itself said that selection of awardees will be based strictly on performance in the interview? But one thing is clear, no one at this point fully know the exact grading and selection criteria. Past award schemes may have also changed. The criteria are almost being changed every year. But having good grades is very very important. GOD help us in JESUS Name .Amen

The sad truth is that most of us won't be shortlisted. I pray majority of those shortlisted even come from this platform.

Since the scores are instantly entered on the
PTDF portal. The rankings should start soon for recommended candidates across the states .

Latest by mid- July the final list should be out to create room for transcripts and visa processing.

Don't forget that the board of directors and stakeholders would need some time to see the list before being published..

It's true, it's stated clearly that selection of winners will be dependent on the performance on actual interviews. Although I don't know if this criteria is the same for the 2020/2021 and the 2019/2020 winners. This year's process seem to be quite unique.

What if the selection is based on interview performance, and if there is a tie, they refer to the grading of O level and degree.

To all those that will get the scholarship, congratulations in advance and remember to have fun .

I have a friend with 2.1 that got selected on first attempt for FGM and I have a colleague too first class that got selected for UK.

Just any class of degree can get it.

I know of a lady that won it last year. She had 2.1 and luckily for her, she met her undergraduate project supervisor on her interview panel. She wasn't even asked any questions! She just dropped her credentials and that was it...
