Dignitaries from all walks of life and from across the various states of the federation converged at the expansive grounds of the Ojukwu Memorial Library and Convention Centre, Owerri, Imo State for the 6th Anniversary of the transition of late Igbo leader Chief Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who passed away after a brief illness in November 2011 at the Hammersmith Hospital, London. The event featured an interdenominational service as well as a memorial lecture, cultural performances, parades, eulogies by several speakers including his widow Bianca Ojukwu, former Nigeria ambassador to Spain.

It will be recalled that Governor Obiano , the incumbent governor of Anambra State under APGA, the political party of which her husband Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was the Leader until his death, swept the Polls in a tumultuous victory, unprecedented in the history of Anambra State. Bianca Ojukwu was one of the major arrowheads of Obiano's campaign, securing an APGA victory in her ward and mercilessly defeating her stepson who defected to the APC two days to the election.

Regina did NOT win the Miss Charm contest that took place in Russia. She represented Nigeria there but never made it back with the crown. Hope her daughter is more successful in this aspect because the only contest Reggie has ever won is Miss Unilag. MBGN was by default and a 'hand me down.'

So what is IPOB doing? And MASSOB? Or APGA?? Couldn't they have organised a lecture in Ojukwu's memory, or taken out full page adverts in the print media, in remembrance of his activities? People have such short memories. Tomorrow, they will go online to say they can die for their leader, yet nothing is being done to preserve his memory.

If it was in the South-West, the man's family, associates and friends would have put together a foundation to preserve his legacy, and an annual symposium to celebrate him.

But now...what a pity!

MASSOB organized a memorial lecture and memorial ceremony and also took out 2 Full page adverts in the print media. So did peter Obi. I dunno about Obiano or Apga. They must have been too busy sharing rice and spaghetti!!!
