Yes Uzee24: Gud morning house,
For those who applied online, I will like your input here.
While going through the online application, I discovered that one can upload only one file for each of the document type. For example, the client information allows only one file to be uploaded. Does it then mean that all supporting documents(SOP, scanned certificates, reference letters, etc) have to be merged together? |

Seconded jnyuwa02: Many have reapplied without gcms notes and were still able to successfully combat previous denial. GCMS in most cases are only expanded Cliff Notes version of the reason for denial. They are notes in a boilerplate template from which a VO tries to personalize the reason for denial as pertaining to an applicant. Sometimes GCMS shade some light better than the refusal letter as the one AustinPee showed. In other cases, they shade little to no light better than the refusal note. I will advice people to order for them because when they do shade better light, they can extremely be helpful. Some people by ordering their GCMS notes, have discovered errors by a VO which have often led to approval when such errors are pointed. Like someone who discovered through his gcms notes that a VO misintepreted him as been sponsored by a third party, when it was his father that was sponsoring him. He had to point out such errors which led to an approval. Sundry errors can be discovered by ordering GCMS notes. In other cases they only repeat what is obvious in the refusal note. It is your perogative whether to order them or not. |

If you have travel history then you can upload every page that will show that. But you should put it in the Client Information section because it's part of your personal supporting documents. emmy4Gold: thank you oga Frankrobbn1 for sharing this, I would like to know if it is just the Bio data page of the passport that is expected to be uploaded or every page of the passport. |

I think you should write them. It's a free world. No harm in doing so and they always reply me anytime I write them. Just look for the email address of your faculty coordinator (Undergraduate or Graduate depending on which level you're applying for). You should be able to get a tangible response. seunnuga: Mine is 21 weeks already. My file was completed June 5 for fall 2019. Do I write to them or I wait till November ending as you have explained? |

My cap for you. Last last, everyone will be alright. Austinpee4: Well, i may agree with you in terms of the GCMS note being a detailed version of the generic letter of refusal. However, the ambiguity of the details sometimes can negate the reason(s) as ticked on the refusal letter. But be rest assured the officer would have documented how he/she reached the decision.
This is so because there are different circumstance in reaching a decision and the generic letter may not precisely capture it and a vague reason(closest in meaning) would be ticked. Purpose of visit even though most often than non concerns your intended program/visit,it may be other reasons aside that. Do not forget the main essence of questioning your purpose of visit is the inability to satisfy the VO that you the applicant would leave at the end of your study.
So @Vibrant99 submission is not out of place. He probably meant the details contained in the GCMS note appears different from the refusal letter in content and meaning. To add, say an applicant has shown very strong will of travelling to study in Canada and probably been rejected previously and suddenly reapplied with an account statement showing multiple lodgements of huge funds with uncleared source within the short period of the previous refusal and the reapplication, such application may be refused for 'purpose of visit' too as
1. It would be clear you are trying hard to get the visa without properly considering reasons for your previous refusal as well as the requirements of the study permit.
2. You likely will not return after study(This is the base point of purpose of visit).
So yes, you may be refused for purpose of visit on the generic letter and your GCMS notes are funds related. The overall circumstances of applicants is key in considering their purpose of visit, funds availability as well as their likelyhood to leave Canada at the end of study. So don't be surprised when the GCMS note is summarised from a different stance point from the generic letter of refusal. A lot would have been considered. Again, it is good to get the GCMS note after a refusal.
Regards. |

Thank you for a detailed explanation and a good manner of approach. But sincerely, I still feel your whole explanation still equate GCMS Note is a detailed version of White refusal paper because the applicant got to know the reason why both Purpose of Visa and Travel History were ticked. And I feel it's here that almost everyone has concluded that most if not all Purpose of Visit refusal is relating to only Program of Study. At the end, we will still say that GCMS Note and White paper both highlight the same reason(s) for refusal ONLY that GCMS Note is more detailed in terms of explanation has to how the reasons were derived. Unlike what @Vibrant99 was saying that there can be different reasons stated which is totally wrong. All in all, if refused please get your GCMS Note. Goodluck to us all. Austinpee4: I couldn't agree more. Very valid point bro. The GCMS file note is the officer's report on the conclusion of the application and actually not meant to be written as to the applicant. It is for their records and hence will be well detailed than the letter of refusal given to the applicant. Thankfully, applicants can access the GCMS note through the access of information act which eventually would help one prepare better and tackle reason(s) for a previous refusal.
The generic letter of refusal is vague and would not give the full underlying reasons for a refusal.
From an experience here:
Applicant was refused for 1.purpose of visit 2. Travel history 3.All reasons for insufficient funds.
GCMS note: PA had travel to Canada once for visit and overstayed by a single day( reason for purpose of visit and travel history), Source of funds not provided(reason for insufficient funds). The officer doubted the genuineness of funds available.
In this case above, one would think it's the program of study or question why travel history is ticked when there is extensive travel or that funds were not sufficient and would proceed to add more money to the account. The applicant could surmise these without the note and reapply and the application would have resulted to yet another refusal. The GCMS note helped. Reason for overstaying was explained and evidence was included. Business contract execution documents were also included to show how funds were gotten. Reapplication was approved. These and many more are some of the reasons the GCMS note is encouraged. |

Congrats Fleshly: @Jnyuwa, Boss I contacted you early August via email on how to go about my submission. But just this morning I received a PPR letter, does that mean that my visa has been approved?
@Everyone, I'm kinda scared, I submitted an online application for visa and here is my time line:
Purpose of visit: Study Permit- PhD in Engineering. Date Submitted: 4th Sept, I did an upfront Medicals. Biometrics: 5th Sept Biometrics done and updated: 6th Sept. Medicals Passed: 14th Sept. Passport Request: 11th Oct.
I'm scared because when I go through what many people say here regarding online submission - how much time take it takes, tbh, I was expecting my PPR in December and that's why I want to know the meaning of this PPR.
Lastly, when I checked my profile it's still on background check and they've not updated it. Please I'm kinda confused. |

That's even better. If it's just both of you alone that holds the signatory to both corporate accounts then no need of even transferring the said amount to your account. Just a letter from the bank stating the signatories to the account will do. Because parent sponsorship is not doubted like other types of Sponsorship. Your father cannot leave you to suffer in canada. But if you both are not the only signatories then he can transfer your funds to your personal account and state it in his sponsorhip letter that he has done that just to show that you have uninterrupted access to your required funds. Goodluck. You can ask gurus in the house for their take on it. But you're good since your father is your sponsor. hotcakept2: Sponsor is my dad

Well depending on your relationship with the other signatory to the account. Also, is it a corporate account? Or maybe a dead parent's account that both of you have access to? (Just trying to get the real picture of that account. I'm not wishing you anything bad oo). The person can transfer the said amount to your account and do the writing justice in the Sponsorship letter. Just let me know the type of relationship and account because there might be more to it than just transferring the money to your account. hotcakept2: Bro in my own case, i am a signatory to my sponsors account. Is it advisable if my sponsor transfer money into my personal account then he will now write that he has done so to show commitment or I should just leave it like that then he would write I have access to the money in his account which would cover my feeding and tuition. What do you think? |

Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Kriff: 2:53pm On Oct 09, 2018 |
Nobody is trying to make Canadian Visa look complicated. In my write up, I said "or" not "And". Meaning it's not compulsory. We are all just trying to provide a tight application. No loop holes. And for the record, if you had done your research very well then you will know that this is not a new idea. So there is nothing like it will backfire. And it's not to show that he didn't steal the Aunt's SOA, it's just to show that the aunt didn't just wake up now to sponsor him. Meaning she has done that in the past. So it has nothing to do with him trying to proof the authenticity of her SOA. Linzo: Please let me clear one thing here, in as much as I agree with some points from @kriff I think we shouldn't be making this Canada visa look complicated to Nigerians. Firstly, you don't need to show financial evidence of any sort in form receipt or transaction whatever of previous assistant your aunt has given towards your education, and for heaven sake let stop introducing things that are not required of us in the name of trying to show sainthood, which will at last backfire and lead to rejection.
The Visa officer knows that its a practice all over the world that no individual has access to another persons account information like SOA etc without the account holder willingness to give it to you for a purpose, and in the case of student for sponsor purpose. So all you need to do is to ask your aunt to state it the letter of sponsorship that she has been the person taking care of education and that's all.
I will advice you please do not allow your parents to sell off their property for this curse, rather they can borrow money with it and keep the property as a collateral. Yes you can use the collateral property as home tie because the property is still yours. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by Kriff: 2:46pm On Oct 09, 2018 |
It's not problem if you can't get a proof of past assistance. If you can notice that I said "or" not "and". Meaning its not compulsory. If it's possible, get it if not don't worry. Just provide proof of relationship. Since your aunt's account is good enough, there is no point in your parents using their property to get money. Because you won't be needing their Statement of Account (SOA). So don't worry yourself with your parent's SOA or cash at hand. Just use the property as Home ties. Goodluck mate. Riseandshine: thanks so much kriff I really appreciate you so much ... when ever she send money to me is always through her sister account in Nigeria so I don't really know how I will prove that....is it possible we use the property to lend money and still consider it as home tie?... thanks so much for your time! |

If your Aunt from Mother side is very okay financially then she can be your only sponsor. Just make sure that you show Proof of relationship (Your mother's birth certificate and her marriage certificate, Your aunt's brith certificate and her marriage certificate (If married)) or proof of past financial transactions/School Receipts showing that she had sponsored your education prior to this time. As regarding funds that will be required - Your one year tuition fees + Living expenses (10,000 or 11,000 (Quebec) CAD) + Others (2000 - 5000 CAD). That's your funds required. But remember that your aunt cannot give you everything in her account. So this means that if you remove your required funds from her present cash then it should remain a compelling amount that can sustain her and her dependents preferably for the next one year. If you're going to be staying in her house over there then she should state it in her Letter of Sponsorship alongside the address of the said house. Also, state It in your SOP. It will help reduce the amount required to be shown as proof of funds. Instead of your parents selling their properties, I will advise it be used as a social ties for you. Meaning that can serve as a compelling reason for you to come back home. Maybe it can be willed to you or A letter of Devolvement after their demise can be issued with a lawyer's stamp. Riseandshine: Hello house please i have some questions and will be glad if attended to ....my aunty from mother side a citizen in canada is willing to sponsor my Msc as i had a good grade and just graduated from the university and she will also be reponsible for accommodation as she has her personal house over there we are not too financially bouyant but my parent also want to support by selling some xties please the tution is about 10900$ my main problem is the issue of POF how much must my parent have to make the application a sucessful one ? Well, go to page 1 of this same thread and check for the part that says "CLICK HERE TO FIND A SOP SAMPLE FOR THE VISA OFFICER". You can use that as a guide. Also, endeavour to use Google as there is no one way to writing SOP. Just make sure you tackle questions like: Who are You? (A brief introduction of you) Why did you choose that particular course? How is the particular course relating to your past experience or educational background? Why did you choose that University/ College? Why Canada? Why go through the stress to study that course in Canada alongside the heavy financial cost and not your home country? Employment prospects when you're done with the course of study that can compel you to come back to your home country? Your socio-economic ties? Who is your sponsor?/How did you get the sponsorship in case it's an external type? Your overall educational goals? Your future goals? Show evidence of how your declared employment (if working) constitute a significant tie to your home country You can write a maximum of 1-3pages as too much stories might end up boring to the VO. Although depending on your case, some people might have to write more. Make sure it's well paragraphed and every paragraph has it own purpose/duty. Avoid unnecessary detials. No grammatical errors. Statement of Purpose (SOP) can be informal I.e not addressed to anybody but A letter of Explanation (LOE) must be addressed to: The Visa officer, Deputy High Commission of Canada, 4 Anifowoshe Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria. Dear Sir/Madam, USE GOOGLE TO CHECK FOR FORMATS AND SAMPLES. THERE ARE A LOT OF THEM. Thoyour: Please which part of the threads gives details on writing an SOP? |

Since he will be handling your living expenses then it's advisable that he should transfer your one year living expenses to your personal account. It's better that way. He will just write it in his sponsorship letter that he has transferred that to show commitment. Then no need of writing about the whole 1000 CAD per month (Its not advisable). If you do all these and show Proof of relationship then I'm sure you won't be having issues with Financials. For assets, I will advise you to go through this link https://www.nairaland.com/2557850/travelling-canada-part-9/198#41016878 Read it very well and digest it. And it will be good if you follow the advise. Check for number 3. It will help tackle Personal assets issues. Regarding completing pre-pharmacy courses, please try as much as possible to stress on it in your SOP. In short, work on your SOP very well. Why are you going for pharmacy since you studied Biochemistry in your First degree? Do you have a good number of working experience in that field? I will advise you should also add Letter of Explanation (Explaining how you've solved your last denial reasons). I hope I've tried. You're welcome. Louisanc: thank you very much. He will be handling my living expenses while my brother pays my tuition. I have been refused visa before based on my financial status and asset that's why I came up with him making an agreement of returning to work for him after my studies.

Are you starting from year 1 or you will be doing just a year or 2 out of the bachelor degree? You will need to write a very substantial SOP because you will have to convince the VO on why you're going for a second bachelor degree. How many years experience do you have in the nutrition company? At this point, I think you should not be guessing on which course you will pick under the art and sciences. Be more specific and have the reason why you're picking the course. That will be part of what you have to write in your SOP. Nonny100: Thank you. I was given arts and sciences and there are lots of departments under the arts and sciences so m guessing when I get there I would be asked to pick a course. Since I have interned at a science laboratory and working with a nutrition company I am thinking of chemistry, and ,yes I am going for another bsc |
