raje914: Pls medics, do any one knows about kogi state both the state university and the federal university if they are offering medicine.. I scored 292 in my previous jamb but I was given soil science to study... I went to lodge complain to the provost of the college and he told me outright that its mainly for indigine of the state (Bauchi)... I really want to this course but I'm considering going to my state (kogi) if medicine is now for only the indigine of the state.... I might also be considered in my state Kogi State University doesn't have an accredited medical school. And again. The federal university in kogi state hasn't commenced medical program. I advise you try out other accreditated college of medicine in other federal universities. |

EdOgah: Its well sir Again thanks Those candidates were probably not admitted because last year a lot of people passed, 4000+ candidates got 300+ too compared to this years 2906 so.... Anyways I'll try to research the school (UI) as soon as possible And come to conclusion soon before their post utme starts But UNN is a good school and it's closer to Benue that's why I was considering it I also think its better than UniMaid and their med graduates have a special preference... Lol.. UNN is highly competitive. I'm not saying u might not get it. But the probability is low except u score very high in their post utme. Nothing like preference after medical school. |

exynos: 331? men that's huge! Besides you've got a good O'level. Why wouldn't you try top schools like UI, UNN, OAU, UNIBEN Et al? Why UNIMAID? Are you from the North-East? If I were you... UNN straight
MODIFIED Sorry, As clearly seen you're an AkwaIbomite! just wondering why your father had to say NO to UNIUYO, but if He insists on UNIMAID then UNIMAID it is. Your score is huge and the school uses only JAMB as Criterion for admission and from all indications Your are just good to go! GOOD LUCK . |

OwoukoUrua: Please Medics in the house,I'm in a fix here . . .
I got 331 in the just concluded UTME and I chose University of Maiduguri for MBBS. My O'levels are okay(3 B's and 2 C's in one sitting)
Now the problem is --- I don't know how transparent Unimaid's admission system is and I've considered changing Institution to Uniuyo to avoid being victimised. I told my dad this morning and he was against the idea saying that Uniuyo is worse.
Please your advice and candid opinions will be appreciated cos I don't want to waste that score. . |

KOGI STATE MEDICAL STUDENTS ASSOCIATION (NATIONAL) 10th January, 2018.
Sir,
OPEN LETTER OF APPRECIATION TO THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE, ALHAJI YAHAYA ADOZA BELLO
On behalf of the entire members of the Kogi State Medical Students Association (KOMSA), the umbrella body of over five hundred (500) medical students of Kogi state origin, studying in about thirty (30) medical institutions across Nigeria, we wish to sincerely thank you and members of your administration for the efforts and steps taken in moving Kogi State and her health sector to an incredibly great height. The achievements of this administration and the profound impact on the lives of the entire populace of Kogi state is more than glaring and people deserve to know this.
One of the direct impact of your administration is on the lives and future of the pioneer medical students of Kogi State University, who before the advent of this administration were stagnated, hopeless and depressed due to the non-accreditation of the medical college; an institution where they spent a total of six years in the dark. You sir, returned that hope back to them when you immediately approved and paid for their transfer to other accredited medical colleges within the country and for that. We remain eternally grateful.
In one of your many efforts to as well improve the health sector, curb the inadequacy of doctor-patient ratio in the state as well as improve the general welfare of Kogi medical students nationwide, you generously approved the bond proposal and granted that a monthly scholarship be paid to medical students who are indigenes of Kogi state in all the universities across the country. This, your Excellency is one of the greatest step in ensuring improved medical care in the state as these future doctors will after completion of their program return to contribute their quota to the Kogi health sector.
Your Excellency sir, we want to immensely thank you for the steps taken in seeing to the accreditation of the Kogi state university medical school in Anyigba. Your Administration understands the importance of the state training her own doctors and therefore has taken the accreditation of the college as a prioritised project. Your approval of the Memorandum of Understanding with the Federal Government regarding the use of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, as a temporary teaching hospital for the stagnating students, pending when there are enough resources to establish a permanent site is a landmark achievement that we are very such grateful for. We are confident that your administration will once more put joy and happiness on the faces of the stagnated students who right now have put their trust in you. Your contributions to the Kogi State health sector and through your workaholic Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna Audu, via programs like the Health Care Plus, Saving One Million Lives, the upcoming Home Clinic e-health project, the Family Planning Coated Implementation Plan, Sustainable Drug Supply System, remodelling of Laboratories at the College of Health Sciences and Technology Idah, the almost completed Diagnostic and imaging centre are visionary and well and live changing. The sincere efforts of the Special Adviser on Health, Dr. Ahmed Attah, through medical outreaches and combined efforts with the Rashida Bello foundation, must be sighted and appreciated. We have received sincere support from the senior special assistant on Student Matters, Hon Joshua Omonu in the course of our struggles as well.
Your Excellency, we must state categorically state that the Chief of Staff, Chief Edward Onoja, has personalised our course and has contributed immensely to the betterment of the health of every Kogite. He has always been in touch with us, made tremendous efforts and has never stopped attending to our complaints and needs. It is now very obvious that the workforce of your administration and members of your cabinet are all interested in giving us all a healthy life.
The recent employment of over two thousand (2000) health workers including Doctors, nurses, laboratory technicians, radiologists, midwives etc shows your commitment to better the health and well being if every Kogite, despite the paucity of funds. This has not only created jobs, but also drastically improved the doctor-patient ratio of Kogi State.
We can go on and forth mentioning your numerous achievements in the state's health sector. Your Excellency, our earnest and humble appeal is that you help us request the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, General Muhammadu Buhari to ascent to the Memorandum of Understanding approving the use of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, as a temporary teaching hospital for our stagnating students. We are aware you've been doing this. We assure you that a positive response from the President on this approval shall be a big boost to the President Muhammadu Buhari 2019 campaign and elections in Kogi State. The Kogi State Medical Students Association (National), look forward to seeing the Presidential approval of the FMC Lokoja, as this has become very urgent to avoid delays and meet up with the NUC/MDCN medical accreditation of the institution scheduled to hold very soon. We look forward to welcoming His Excellency Lokoja for the Presidential Campaign. We also sincerely thank the First Lady of the State Hajia Rashida Bello, Secretary to the state government, Mrs Ayoade Folashade, the Special Adviser of Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs Engr. Abubakar Ohere, the Honorable Commissioner for Finance Hon. Idris Asiwaju, the speaker KSHA Hon. Matthew Kolawole, and the Accountant General of the State Alhaji Momoh Jibril. They have all made immense efforts towards he accreditation of Kogi State's Medical School.
Your Excellency Sir, be rest assured of our support to your course and the government of Kogi state. Just as our motto says, "to a healthy confluence state", we shall remain committed to contributing our own quota to improving the health care delivery of our dear Kogi State even as students, and ultimately to becoming doctors in a short while. We are and we shall continue to make you and the good people of Kogi state proud.
Once again, thank you, Sir. Signed: KOMSA NATIONAL komsanigeria@gmail.com
