Okay, Now i get you. The static page you created (healthtrust) does it appear in the drop down menu for Front Page (i.e in Administration > Settings > Reading panel) Did you select healthtrust page in the drop down menu and apply changes yet it still didn't work ?

What does sp3 mean ? Service Pack 3 ? Is it the name of a software ?

I am working on a GIS project, see screen shot below, If you look to the right of the picture you'll see some symbols. i want to be able to drag those symbols and drop them on the map to the center.

The explorer view to the Right Contains some DataNodes and each DataNode contains a DataObject. Now, I understand that in the Netbeans platform to be able to drag an object from the explorer view to another component the object as to Implement Transferable interface. But what i'm not sure of is, is the the DataNodes that will implement the Transferable or the DataObject ? So far, i made my DataObject implement Transferable but each time i debug. The DataFlavor of Drag and Drop Listener for the TopComponent that I am dropping the symbol on keeps returning a null as the transfer object.

Is that specific enough?

I kinda new to the Netbeans Platform RCP and I'm currently working on a project using the platform. I'm having a problem implementing drag and drop a node from and Explorer View to a TopComponent. In my own opinion JavaScript can never be the king of all other programming language. And I take it you a web developer that just learnt about node.js and still hyped up about it. It is not fit for every programming paradigm (quote me anywhere) and you'll discover that as you earn more experience working with node.js. If you really thing it'll soon be the king of all programming languages go and create and operating system with Node.js.

The fact that you can create a server with a framework doesn't make it a server. IF I DEVELOP A WEB SERVER WITH C++, DOES THAT MAKE IT A SERVER ? PS: As regards you other software you might have developed I am of the opinion that it would have been much easier for you to market if you created DEMO versions. All you will have required is to add a link of the demo version to the thread then people can download test, recommend and show it to people they know.

Try developing an Assets management app.
You should find it interesting and all of "big companies" use them. You'll have to integrate technologies such as bar code (reading, generating , printing) RFID, GPS for mobile assets, mobile terminals for RFID and bar code (which means a mobile apps for both the RFID mobile reader and bar code readers will be involved) and more depending on how far you are willing to go..... I even integrated mine with SLE4442 smart card readers as it was the ID card being used in my office back then. I found all these technologies strangely new then and overwhelming and it gave me a better grasp of hardware integration with C#. One of the reasons i chose to develop the software in C# was because of the ease of reusing some of my codes in the mobile terminals which were running Windows Mobile.

My office imposes it on me to develop their software by International Standards. It took me months to implement 60% of the features in ISO/IEC ISO9001. It took me about 3 weeks to finish JUST the data analysis and another 3 to finish the design before i even started coding. Depending on your schedule, shouldn't take you that long.

I assume that the check box are bring represented as an array in the underlying html and can be accessed via one variable from the GET or POST variables. e.g

Now all you have to do from the PHP side of your code that will be updating the database is to loop through the checkboxvar[] array and add each element to the database.

Another key to the success of this design is you database structure. If I was to implement what you are trying to achieve i'll have the following tables: users, courses, user_course. Where users contains user info and courses contains each individual course. While the user_course will tie info regarding course in relation to a certain user.

Now while looping through the array for the check box you sql statement may look like this. INSERT INTO user_topic (id, user_id, course_id, course_status, source_date etc......user_id can be gotten from the actively logged in user session variable, while the course_id will be based on the course selected in the drop down list from the prior page. This was, for each entry in the loop you'll run the above sql statement against the database. Although the course_id will change for each check box value.

You php code will look something like this

If I were in your shoes, I'd use tinymice. It is a wysiwyg text editor and it is open source. You can add your custom smileys and buttons to it as it is extendable. Also you can theme it to your taste so that it blends into your application.

From my experience the key to selling this kind of software and making maximum profit is by selling each feature in modules it.

Say for example the Core features (which will be independent modules) are:
-Patient
-Doctor
And they come at 180k. Every other module can now be fixed at say 30 to 50 depending on how important and how much effort you put into coding it. So the client pays for what he need at the moment. But from experience they usually come back to buy the whole package.

And of course you have too bill them for training and your defense will be that buying Microsoft Word from Microsoft does not mean they'll(Microsoft) teach you how to use it.

Then there's the annual maintenance, support and updates (which is also optional). Allow the client to slice his neck with his own hands.

FYI: For packaging/branding purposes such software systems are called Electronic Health Record (EHR). And there are international standards out there that your software should meet up with if you want to sell to the big boys. see www.openehr.org for an open source standards for EHRs
