A leader of Miyetti Allah cattle breeders in Benue State, Garus Gololo has revealed why Fulani herdsmen attacked some communities in Benue state.
He said their action was a reprisal for alleged theft of cows.
Herdsmen had attacked communities in Guma and Logo local government areas of the state between Monday, January 1 and Tuesday, January 2.
The incident left scores dead, including nearly a dozen livestock guards.
In a chat with BBC Pidgin, Gololo explained that the herdsmen were only defending themselves from thieves.
He claimed that over 1000 cows were stolen at Nengere, a community in the state when the herdsmen were moving out of Benue to Taraba state.
“As we dey relocate go Taraba State through Nassarawa State, for border town of Nengere, thief come collect 1000 cows from us, so we sef fight dem back”, he said.
Gololo added that the crisis broke out while the herdsmen were trying to protect and defend themselves and their property.
Meanwhile, Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has debunked an allegationthat he is the chief financier of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).
The association is the national body of Fulani herdsmen.

Academics at the University of Zimbabwe have petitioned the anti-corruption commission to investigate the “suspicious” way in which former first lady Grace Mugabe was awarded a doctorate four years ago.
The academics from the university’s sociology department say they were “shocked” when Grace Mugabe emerged among the doctoral candidates in 2014.
“This was a shock to many members of the department as most members never (saw) or heard about the proposal, progress reports, thesis examiners and outcome of such a study by the candidate,” reads part of the petition, quoted by the private Zimbabwe Independent.
“The awarding of the degree has therefore not gone through processes that other candidates are subjected to which makes the awarding of the degree very suspicious”.
Grace Mugabe was capped by her husband, then president Robert Mugabe, in August 2014 when he was still chancellor of the university.
She appeared in the red academic gown and black cap for the doctorate of philosophy degree beside the then vice president, Joice Mujuru, who also received a doctorate.
Mujuru’s doctoral thesis has subsequently been released into the public domain, but Grace’s thesis has never been made available.
The late Zimbabwean author, Chenjerai Hove at the time wrote to the university’s vice chancellor, Levi Nyagura saying the university’s decision to give a doctorate to Grace had reduced its degrees to “a laughing stock”

President Muhammadu Buhari is reportedly unhappy with his security officials, for allowing his son, Yusuf, leave home at 8pm on Tuesday for power-bike racing. Yusuf was reportedly racing with a friend when in an attempt to overtake a vehicle, he skidded off the road, sustaining injuries that made him unconscious. The president’s only son was taken to Cedarcrest Hospital unconscious and doctors have been battling to stabilize him. A source told THISDAY: “The president was at the hospital on Wednesday night. He was very devastated when he saw his son, Yusuf, in a very critical situation. He was shaking his head, while looking at his son and thereafter angrily reprimanded his security officials for allowing Yusuf to leave home at that time of the day for power-bike racing. “From the way the president spoke, it appears the security aides are in trouble. He spoke angrily. The Minister of Interior, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd); his FCT ministry counterpart, Alhaji Mohammed Bello; and the Senate President’s wife, Mrs. Toyin Saraki; stayed throughout the night of Tuesday till Wednesday at the hospital with Hajia Aisha Buhari. “While the doctors were working to stabilise him, Dambazau kept appealing to the doctors to do everything possible to stabilise Yusuf, saying the president would find it very difficult to bear the pain if anything happens to his son.”

OgunState Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly killing his six-month-old baby over suspicion that his wife would abandon him for her former husband.
The suspect, Andrew Koku, who admitted to the crime, told detectives at the State Criminal Investigation Department that he smashed the baby’s head on the ground out of fear of losing his wife, Omowunmi Teleda.
The incident occurred on Christmas eve in Obada area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. Mother of the child, Teleda, claimed that she left her baby in her husband’s care to visit her older child, who was in her former husband’s custody.
However, on her return she discovered that her baby, Precious, was motionless. Apparently thinking she was sleeping, she reportedly shook her with the intention of breastfeeding her. But there was no response from the baby.
At that point, she said she became suspicious and reported the matter to the Police.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident, said: “She explained further that the baby was hale and hearty before she left home.
“But within an hour of her outing, the baby had dropped dead. This made her to strongly suspect her husband who happened to be the only person with the baby.
“Upon her complaint, the DPO Adigbe Division, CSP Sunday Oladipo, detailed Police detectives to the scene, where the suspect was arrested on December 24.
On interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime but claimed to be suspecting that his wife wanted to leave him for her ex-husband and that if that should happen, he will not be able to take care of the baby; that was the reason why he decided to eliminate the child.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the case be transferred to Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, CIID, for proper investigation and prosecution of the suspect.

I keep wondering why those math courses have simply-silly names: partial differential equations: you go think say the course go easy as na 'partial' and not complete. Na so we do one mat201 course wey dem call 'ordinary differential equations'. O'boy, there's nothing ordinary in that course. Na so so 2nd, 3rd and 4th derivatives full that course. Person never finish first derivative, na to dey struggle with 2nd, 3rd and 4th; that wan na die.

Have you noticed that the final solutions to those differential equations are more complex than the original problem? How then is that a solution? You solve a simple linear differential eqn and your answer becomes quotients of complex numbers, how is that a solution?
