Mostly because v6 are more cumbersome to repair than the i4s. The entire engine bay area is full with little to no space: this directly translates to high cost of repair for V6 engines. Consider a case of removing the spark plugs, for an i4 it ABC job but for a V6 to get where the plugs are is real work...

OP, you can’t get a good car for that amount. If you do; you will end up spending more to put the car in good shape - eventually it will defeat the whole aim of having a car to make your life easier.

More importantly, if this is your first car you will do yourself a whole lot of good if you save up to 500k+ and find a clean baby boy if thats what you want.


I see some certain elements advising OP to use the money for business/investment; this is really laughable and unwise. It is very ridiculous to think you can do business or invest with any small money you have, even if its 10 million. Business and investment goes beyond having the capital: there is experience, advisory, industry expertise and more. You can invest 10 million in a business and fail: so how is this wiser than buying a lemon car ?

Go for the 05 accord, 800 - 900k will get you one in pristine condition (like toks). Whenever you want to purchase a naija used : look for the ones that are genuinely marketed as few months used preferably from the owner. Carry your mech along to inspect too

Check the battery terminals and make sure they are tightly connected. Had similar problem and it was the battery terminals.

Made those checks already; definitely not the terminals. I even swapped in another healthy battery and it ran dead after three days; obviously alternator is not charging the battery. Also noticed my interior lights flicker at times.

I took the vehicle for electrical fault diagnosis and the alternator was reported to be faulty. It wasn't completely dead but was said to be slowly or partially charging and discharging (hence the battery drain).

The interesting thing is just by the technician fiddling with the alternator during the checks (disconnect - test - reconnect) the vehicle worked fine without that issue again for some weks. This gave me time to plan for the outright replacement.

It repeated again after about 2 weeks, then i replaced the alternator. No issues again since then.

Thanks, I will try scanning the vehicle again and change the alternator.

I need help troubleshooting a possible electrical fault in a 2012 HONDA PILOT.

Vehicle suddenly starts to drain battery life rapidly.
Day 1:
- Vehicle worked perfectly okay the day before and was parked but failed to start in the morning.
- Got a battery (battery #2) to jump-start and drove for about 1hr to destination. I returned to the vehicle after about 3hrs and it failed to start.
- Got another battery (battery #3) to jump start, drove home and parked it till next day.

Day 2:
- Sent my battery (battery #1) for charging and hired a battery (battery #4) to use for the period. Installed rented battery, drove about 30mins to destination, turned off engine, returned to vehicle about 20mins later and it wouldn't start. ignition lights comes on but wouldn't start.
- Removed the rented battery and started the car with a borrowed battery (battery #5), disconnected the leads while engine running (to test alternator) and it didn't go off - Alternator okay?
- Put back the hired battery (#4) and drove the vehicle home, disconnected the leads and parked overnight.

Day 3:
- Put back the leads, battery terminal sparking indicating battery power, dashboard lights comes on but still wouldn't start.

I think i may have eliminated alternator and battery as the issue and may have other electrical problem.
Is this correct by the steps outlined above?
Is there other steps I could perform to ascertain the problem?

Any recommendation for someone to help with electrical fault diagnosis.

Vehicle is in Lekki-Ajah axis.

Till SARS kills one of your offsprings for looking too cool even with legitimate hustle, or your folks are struck with cutlass in the village by fulani Herdsmen or you are kidnapped on the lengthy roads in the eastern part of the country you will know.
