seunowa: Oga there is nothing like military coup here.....This is not 1970's , any military nonsense will result in Nigeria disintegrations and so everybody go rest and bears him papa name You guys talk so authoritatively about what will happen if a coup takes place. You forget that your power to determine or even influence outcomes will be severely limited under a military regime. The Constitution will be suspended, and a state of emergency declared. Your state governors will be chased out and replaced by Military Governors appointed by the Head of State. The military will be everywhere on the streets in their tanks. THEY will decide what’s gonna happen, not you or any ‘bloody civilians’. |

seanfer: No Military coup OP..... Gone are the days that only the politicians are stealing the money... Nowadays the military are also getting a large chunk from our national cake, and no one is calling them out.. They will prefer to stay low and get their Bank accounts fat. But there could be some radical elements in the colonel ranks…. It’s usually the big generals banking money. Some fed up colonels could take matters into their own hands… |

Mille: Even if I didn't vote or campaigned for anybody in the 2023 election, I hoped Tinubu would win because I believed him to be the most capable of the contestants. My preference for the election was; Tinubu - Atiku - Kwankansho - Obi.
Even if some of us knew it was Buhari that actually planned the removal of the fuel subsidy, Tinubu has actually mismanaged the process of the removal. That man disappointed me from the first day of his tenure with his unguarded and unwarranted statement of how "fuel subsidy is gone" without making plans on how to cushion the effects.
With rising cost of living, hunger and inflation, two things bother me about the president. The masses are not seeing the effects of the money saved from fuel subsidy neither does residents see any changes in their states or lives due to increased FAAC state allocation.
A man who supposedly cares for the people should have, even if temporarily, reversed the disastrous fuel subsidy removal until a better time, suspend taxes on food and essential products and services, and opened the borders to allow for importation of cheap food to tackle hunger and teach the greedy food producers and middlemen a lesson.
Why isn't the president doing so? Maybe Tinubu people or members of APC should come and educate us.
****Disclaimer: This thread is for intelligent people and discussions. If you come here to say shit about Yoruba people, just a reminder that I can be a tribalist too, and very brutal at it for that matter. So keep it clean. DUDE, NIGERIA WAS BORROWING $10 BILLION A YEAR TO PAY THOSE SUBSIDIES. All the candidates including Obi and Atiku said they would ditch the subsidies, as they were fraudulent, unsustainable, and bankrupting the country. |

Nigerian military chiefs will be looking at the ongoing protests with great alarm, as reported gunshots have taken place on just the first day of a 10 day national protest.
As the last guarantor of Nigeria’s territorial integrity, the military will be watching these events very closely indeed.
Could some rebellious colonels decide enough is enough?
Or even some generals?
Could President Tinubu in the next few days be overthrown in a MILITARY COUP? |

Politics › Re: Tinubu's Regime Is Over by Kushites: 3:31pm On Aug 01, 2024 |
CriminalTinubu: From the images & videos I'm seeing, Tinubu is finished. This is rejection on a huge scale by the populace especially the same ignorant section that were coerced to vote for him because he never had the learned ones on his side to begin with.
There are protests across North. Protests in Lagos, Edo & Oyo.
Only the South East abstained and Tinubu will never win in that region till he departs this world.
If elections happen today, Tinubu will lose in these states plus the South South and that will be humiliating for him.
Worse still, he may not last his full first tenure since this protest is scheduled for 10 whole days.
Things will surely escalate.
One move that could destroy Tinubu very early is if the masterminds of this protest start impeachment moves. It will be disastrous. The Senate is already silently divided thanks to Akpabio and they can start by getting rid of Akpabio in the first year. If successful, it will leave Tinubu vulnerable and constantly battling the Senate up until 2027 even though he won't be removed.
The Northern APC can also destabilize the party by pulling out thus making CPC the majority in the Senate.
As it stands, Tinubu has lost all his Northern votes and a candidate like Atiku or Peter Obi (if he is strategic enough) can take advantage of this situation. I fear it may be Atiku since Peter Obi lacks any real pull up North.
Without backing from the entire North, no strong Middle Belt allies, zero SE support, zero SS political backing and divided South Western votes, Tinubu can as well kiss re-election goodbye.
Thank you.
Seun Mynd44 fergie001 naptu2 Grammar. The ONLY way to “make things better” in the short term is to reintroduce the fuel subsidies. Meaning we revert to borrowing $10 billion a year to pay subsidies. No government is coming in to do that. Not Atiku, Not Obi. They all condemned the subsidies as fraudulent and unsustainable back then, and promised to remove them if elected. So stop dreaming. If you remove Tinubu and replace him with some other politician, nothing will fundamentally change. Indeed, it will set things backward, as that one will now enter and start all over again with something else that will also need some years to reach fruition. The most practical route is to just let the president have the time he says he needs to fix the economy. |

MetalJigsaw: He's barely been in power for one year and the country is like this? What happens if he spend four years? Don’t be ridiculous. The man came into power and said “I have to remove this subsidy that is costing us 10 billion dollars a year in borrowed funds. Things will be tight for a while, but we will enjoy the fruits of it in the coming years.” So he has no intention of letting the country deteriorate, but to prosper. All he’s saying is “Give me some time to put this right!” After all he’s not a magician. |

A nationwide protest is about to commence.
Peter Obi is usually the first to protest and complain about the govt on any given day.
Now we have a gargantuan national protest in the horizon, and the man is totally quiet and silent!
Not a single word from him.
I find it very fishy and suspicious.
It’s as if he is in some underground control room quietly coordinating the whole thing.
Does anyone even know where he is right now? |
