Nigeria's President, Muhammed Buhari today joined his West African counterparts in Niamey, Niger Republic, for talks on the proposed single currency for the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The quiet community of Eziowelle in Idemili north local government area of Anambra State received an unexpected ugly shock on the Ist of October a 16 after a year old boy named Chidera was found dead apparently used for rituals in the home of one of the kinsman of the community identified as Mr Ifeanyi Okpoko (Alias Anagwanti).

According to the eyewitness, the deceased was playing with his friends when Ifeanyi Okpoko called him, according to him, Chidera's play mates said they thought that the man wanted to send him on an errand which is not something strange or usual since they all are from the same Umunnaama village. He said when they waited till night without seeing him, they went to their various houses. According to him, the next morning, they were shocked to learn that Chidera did not return home the previous day, so they all went to Ifeanyi Okpoko's house in search of him, only to see find tied and hung on a hand-crane, stone dead. Mr Okpoko who attempted to escape was caught and handed over to the police.

The family of the deceased have written a petition to the Inspector General of Police calling on him to help them so that justice can be served for the innocent young boy that was killed.

The sad incident which happened on October 1st has left everyone in the peaceful community of Eziowelle scared and afraid of everyone around them. That a killer was living among them is still something they are yet to come to terms with.

Yoruba Call For Restructuring Hypocritical-Umar Farouk ...Says Obasanjo Ran Most Ethnic Based Government In Nigeria:

A civil society activist, Umar Farouk has described the recent Ibadan summit where the leaders of the south west geo- political zone called for return to the regions as the hallmark of hypocrisy.
In a statement which was exclusively obtained by irukkanews, he said the Yoruba are now among other things complaining of not being carried along in the scheme of things in the country ,while their own son, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo ran the most ethnic based government in the history of the country.
According to him, the so-called northernalization of appointments by President Muhammadu Buhari was a child's play when compared with what former president Obasanjo did when he was in power.
He said, while he s a strong believer in equity, fairness and justice, he did not think that the Yoruba should be the ones complaining now of marginalization and lopsided appointment while when their own son was in power,he appointed only the Yoruba to man the economy of the Country.
Farouk said those who want to come to equity must come with clean hands, adding that in this case, the Yoruba hands are soiled.
Furthermore, he said, if there are people that are supposed to be calling for fairness, equity and justice,it must not be the southwest because their own son laid a very bad precedent when he was in office

For those who may want raise eyebrows over this monopolization of the Nigerian economy by the Yoruba, Tafa Balogun was the Inspector General of Police. He would ensure that the people were rounded up and slammed into jail, while Bayo Ojo as the Minister of Justice would on his own part ensure that those raising eyebrows into the affair of the Yoruba would not be given bail. This type of monopolization of the entire economy by an ethnic group cannot even be seen in a monarchical government but it happened in a federation like Nigeria" The statement read in part.
According to him, while the Yoruba were savouring the lopsided appointments, they felt that the other parts of the country were fools.
He said it is now that the pendulum has switched to another part of the country that they remember that the country is not properly structured, that we should go back to the region.

Designation Of IPOB As A Terrorist Organisation, Ploy To Commit Genocide In Southeast -CLO

The foremost Nigerian Civil Society Organization, Civil Liberties Organization (CLO), has described the designation of the Indigenous People of Biafra(IPOB) as a terrorist organization by the Defence Headquarters as a ploy by the army to commit genocide in Igbo land.

Speaking in an interview with irukkanews, one of the leaders of the group, Harrison Azebunwan said the reason given by the Defence Headquarters Director of Information, which include,` militant possession of and use of weapons, stones, Molotov cocktails, machetes and broken bottles, among others, the formation of Biafra Secret Service, claimed formation of Biafra National Guard, unauthorized blocking of public roads, extortion of money from innocent civilians and illegal road blocks, flies in the face.

He said if those allegedly using stones, machetes and broken bottles could be designated terrorists, why has the Nigerian Army not designated the Fulani herdsmen that is using AK47 and committing mass murder terrorist organization?

According to him, if illegally blocking road and extorting money from innocent civilians could be described as acts of terrorism ,then the Nigerian armed forces should also designated a terrorist organization because illegal blocking OF roads, harassing, intimidating and extorting money from innocent civilians have become its stock in trade.

On the operation python dance, Azebunwan described it as a hateful and vengeful mission against the people of the southeast.

He said operation python dance is about oppression, suppression, harassment and intimidation of the people.

The activist said the intent and purpose of operation python dance is to cause genocide in Igbo land.

His words,"Instead of operation python dance, which is pretentious, they should have called it operation scorpion dance. The reason for this is because the tropical python is docile and nonvenomous which contradicts their punitive measures in the south east. The northern Nigeria dominated Nigeria Army is out to achieve the agenda of the Arewa youths which is to annihilate the people of the south east. The month of October is around the corner so they want to provoke the people of the southeast to take one or two wrong steps, so that the Arewa youths would kill those living in the north under the guise of reprisal attack”.

He called on the international community to call the Nigerian army to order

The curfew imposed in Abia state has been extended and school resumption postponed. It's no news that the state has been thrown into crisis especially in the commercial nerve Aba which is the centre of the state following the face-off between the Indigenous People of Biafra, led by Nnamdi Kanu, and the Nigerian Army.

The initial order from Abia state government was for the curfew to last till Thursday. But the latest announcement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Enyinnaya Appolos, said the curfew has been extended till Sunday – 6pm to 6am. Meanwhile, resumption of schools has been moved from September 18 to September 25.

The statement by Appolos, with the title "Further extension of curfew in Aba,” reads in full:

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, wishes to express his appreciation to Abians and residents, particularly those living and doing business at Aba, for their support and cooperation during this trying period.

For a commercial city that is also the economic hub of the state and the South East region, the effect of the socio-economic disruption at Aba is too massive to measure at this time and the Government fully appreciates all the sacrifices made to ensure early restoration of normalcy.

We also wish to commend the efforts of the men and women of the security services currently working round the clock to restore law and order and safeguard lives and properties of law abiding citizens and residents.

After a profound review of the security situation across the state, we are compelled to extend the current curfew imposed on Aba to enable us consolidate the peace and normalcy that is gradually returning to the city.

The government is therefore seeking your continuing support and understanding for the further extension of the dusk to dawn (6pm to 6am) curfew at Aba to Sunday 17th of September 2017.

Furthermore, in order to ensure the safety of our children and wards who were billed to resume school on the 18th of September 2017, we hereby direct that the resumption be postponed till the 25th of September 2017 across the state.

It is our hope that all the measures taken so far will help to rapidly restore full normalcy to all areas of the state.”
