Nigerian music star, Mr Eazi has signed a new deal with Columbia Records, UK, for the licensing of his works with Columbia Records, UK. The singer who has been working on a new project recently announced that he will be releasing his follow-up project titled ‘Lagos To London’ with a tentative date of May 23, 2018.

This not his first deal, just last month, he signed a record deal with Mad Decent, a record label owned by DJ Diplo of Major Lazer, Mr Eazi who owns his independent label, Banku Music had earlier last month also announced a label licensing deal with Universal Africa.

Nigerian music star, Davido who never misses a chance to show and tell just how much in-love he is with his girlfriend, Chioma has revealed details of her new endorsement deal.

Davido announced last week that his girlfriend was offered an endorsement deal of N60 million but he requested for the amount to be made N100million before Chioma can think about it, though Davido did not reveal the company that offered Chioma the N60 million endorsement deal. New report from Davido says that Chioma has successful sealed her first endorsement deal for a cooking show with Dunes.

We don't know if Dunes were the first to offer Chioma N60 million deal and if they were, there is no indication from Davido how much they later settled for. According to Davido, the show will be called Chef Chi Cooking Show. See pictures below;

WhatsApp, co-founder, Jan Koum is reportedly leaving the company due to disagreements about privacy and encryption. According to report from Washington Post, Koum will also step down from Facebook’s board of directors, a role he negotiated when WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook for $19bn in 2014.

Koum and his co-founder Brian Acton developed WhatsApp with a focus on user privacy and a disdain for advertising. When it was bought by Facebook, he promised users that these values wouldn’t be compromised.

"You can still count on absolutely no ads interrupting your communication. There would have been no partnership between our two companies if we had to compromise on the core principles that will always define our company, our vision and our product,” he said at the time.

However, Facebook has been under pressure to make money out of WhatsApp, which now has 1.5 billion monthly users. Facebook has been taking steps that have chipped away at some of WhatsApp’s values. And Koum has a problem with this.

Koum announced his departure from the company via his Facebook account, writing: “It’s been almost a decade since Brian [Acton] and I started WhatsApp, and it’s been an amazing journey with some of the best people. But it is time for me to move on.

“I’m taking some time off to do things I enjoy outside of technology, such as collecting rare air-cooled Porsches, working on my cars and playing ultimate frisbee. And I’ll still be cheering WhatsApp on – just from the outside.”

In 2016, After Facebook acquired the messaging app, WhatsApp announced it would start sharing some user data, including phone numbers, with Facebook – a move that goes against WhatsApp's values and was deeply unpopular among European regulators, who ordered Facebook to stop collecting data from WhatsApp users and fined the company.

Since then WhatsApp has started building and testing free tools to help businesses use WhatsApp to reach their customers, with the view to later start charging businesses - another move that goes against WhatsApp's disdain for advertising.

According to the Washington Post, which spoke to “people familiar with internal discussions” over Koum’s departure, there were tensions with Facebook over WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption, which ensures that messages can’t be intercepted and read by anyone outside of the conversation, including by WhatsApp or Facebook. WhatsApp executives believed that Facebook’s desire to make it easier for businesses to use its tools would require weakening some of the encryption.

After Koum announced his resignation, the first comment was from Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

It reads: “I’m grateful for everything you’ve done to help connect the world, and for everything you’ve taught me, including about encryption and its ability to take power from centralised systems and put it back in people’s hands. Those values will always be at the heart of WhatsApp.”

A spokeswoman for WhatsApp declined to comment but pointed to Koum and Zuckerberg’s posts on Facebook.

Nigerian prophet, Isaac Amata has been acquitted of two counts of drug trafficking, by Lusaka magistrate Brian Simachela due to lack of evidence. Amata who is from Delta State, was accused of trafficking and importing of 26.29 kilogrammes of ephedrine without lawful authority.

It was alleged that Amata committed the offences on January 24 this year. Ruling on whether Amata had a case to answer or not, magistrate Simachela said the prosecution failed to prove the case against him.

“I find the accused with no case to answer and acquit him accordingly…you are free to go home,” he said amid ululations while the prophet warmly smiled.

Amata had asked the court to acquit him and argued that the prosecution’s evidence did not show that he trafficked and imported the drugs.

He had submitted that the prosecutions did not bring key witnesses in the matter.After his acquittal, Amata said his prosecution did not make Zambia a bad nation.

Amata thanked his lawyer Tutwa Ngulube and Ireen Kunda for representing him, saying they did so because they had trust in him.

He said he has been vindicated and his name cleared because he was innocent. Ngulube said Amata was innocent from the scratch and was grateful that the court set him free.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Williams and Princess Kate have welcomed their third child, a baby boy.

According to report from ABC, 36 year-old Kate, delivered a son in the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital, Kensington Palace announced. The newborn, the third child of William and Kate, weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces at birth. He was born at 11:01 a.m., local time.

Report of a post-mortem examination conducted on the late Nigerian singer, Zainab Nielsen, aka, Alizee, has been revealed and according to the report, she died from trauma which emanated from the injuries inflicted on her head. This latest development was made today by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, at a press briefing on earlier today.

One of Nigeria's fast rising music star, Zainab and her three-year-old daughter, Petra, were allegedly murdered on April 5 by her 55 years old Danish husband, Peter Nielsen, at their residence at Bellasta Towers, Banana Island, Ikoyi. Peter, was arrested and subsequently arraigned on two counts of murder last Thursday at a Yaba Chief Magistrate’s Court.

Police prosecutor, CSP Effiong Asuquo, told the court, while tendering a remand application, that Peter hit his wife’s head on the wall, noting that she died from the injuries she sustained, and that the suspect poisoned their daughter afterwards and dragged their bodies to the kitchen. Peter was remanded in Ikoyi prisons while the case file was forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.  Read what Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal said today at the press briefing today;

"The autospy report revealed that Mrs. Zainab Nielsen suffered trauma as a result of the impact on her head.

Secondly, the forensic experts revealed that there were bloodstains from the couple’s bedroom to the kitchen. Even though they were cleverly wiped from the floor, they were still able to detect the stains with the application of special chemical reagents. .
In addition, bloodstains were also discovered on the wash hand basins and on the hand towel the suspect used in wiping his hands after the commission of the offence.”

Four suspected Internet fraudsters (Yahoo Yahoo), namely Ale Daniel, Tunde Badmus, Adams Tunde Adedeji and Ajiboye Gbenga were on Saturday April 7th, in the Lekki area of Lagos State for various offences bordering on cybercrime and money laundering.

The arrest was due to an intelligence report received by the Commission about their activities, alleging that they were living flamboyantly without known sources of income. Items recovered from them, include exotic cars and charms.

An Indian business man identified as 53-year-old Vishnu Pandey, collapsed and died on stage while dancing to collect his award during a ceremony in India.

In the video that has now gone viral, a happy Vishnu Pandey is seen dancing up to the stage to a Bollywood song amid cheers from the audience before suffered a heart attack and collapsed.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was later declared dead. The doctors said that Pandey had died from a cardiac arrest.

Former President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who has been sentenced to 12 year in prison will start his prison term today Friday, 6th, after a federal judge ordered for his arrest. He has been given till Friday afternoon to present himself to federal police, according to the arrest warrant.

Lula da Silva, who is 72 years-old ruled Brazil from 2003 to 2011, he will not be handcuffed and will be placed in a separate jail cell upon his arrest, according to the arrest warrant. He is considered a frontrunner in Brazil Presidential elections due in October. But the court's decision not to grant his request to remain free while appealing the conviction has cast doubt on his bid to regain power.

Lula, was once one of the most popular politicians on the planet and he easily leads polls in Brazil’s October presidential election.  Last July, Mr. da Silva was convicted on corruption and money laundering charges and sentenced to almost 10 years in prison. In January, an appeals court unanimously upheld the conviction and increased the sentence to 12 years.

In it's effort to control the country’s burgeoning religious scene, the Chinese government has rolled out another law and this time, they have banned online retailers from selling the Bible. The new rule was announced last weekend and it takes effect this week.

As of today, Thursday, 5th April, internet searches for the Bible came up empty on leading online Chinese retailers. The move aligns with a longstanding effort to limit the influence of Christianity in China. Among China’s major religions — which include Buddhism, Taoism, Islam and folk beliefs — Christianity is the only one whose major holy text cannot be sold through normal commercial channels. .

The Bible is printed in China but legally available only at church bookstores. The ban follows new government religious regulations that have effectively tightened rules on Christianity and Islam, while promoting Buddhism, Taoism and folk religion as part of President Xi Jinping’s efforts to promote traditional values.

Moped thugs are snatching tens of thousands of phones on UK streets to supply a booming black market run by crime lords in Nigeria. The mobiles, seized by acid-armed yobs, are shipped 4,500 miles to be sold for up to £560 to Nigeria’s tech-starved middle classes.

Sun investigators discovered “UK used” iPhones being sold for £560 in stores and markets in Nigeria’s largest city Lagos. Business is booming for the Nigerian racketeers because of soaring demand from the oil-rich middle classes in a country where hi-tech gadgets are relatively scarce.

And because Nigeria has not signed up to a global deal blacklisting stolen phones, British moped gangs are able to keep the crime bosses supplied by exporting tens of thousands of snatched mobiles. MPs urged police to cut off that supply by cracking down on the moped gangs.

Tory MP Bob Neill, chairman of the Commons Justice Committee, said: “This is a very serious matter. We’ve seen an increase in moped crimes across the UK.

The police need to take these crimes more seriously and make investigating them a higher priority. And sentences need to reflect that this is serious organised crime which should attract tougher penalties.”

The phones are then sold on in bulk to middle men who ship them to eastern Europe to be stripped of private information and reconditioned. The phones are then moved on for sale — with Nigeria, Algeria and India the main markets. The Sun witnessed the end of the chain at the sprawling “Computer Village” market in the Lagos suburb of Ikeja. Multiple stores offered “UK phones and accessories” and “UK used phones at affordable prices.”

A 21-year-old man, Kenneth, has died after overdosing on an illicit drug combination called “gutter water” at a hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos.

According to reports, “gutter water” is a combination of codiene, refnol, tramadol, cannabis and water or juice. Kenneth, who is epileptic, took the drug on Saturday at Durak hotel and immediately started having seizures. He was later rushed to the Ikorodu general hospital, where he eventually gave up the ghost.
