PhonesBlacberry 10 Annoying Campaign by Ladapo(op): 12:38am On Feb 10, 2013
I was browsing through the internet when i cam across this campaign for the new blackberry 10 and while watching with so much excitement, something struck me and i was like "wait here, something is not right"....looking at this campaign on YouTube, you will notice that Africa is no way portrayed in this campaign and I see this as an insult to the African market and especially Nigerian market, where about 50% of the world's blackberry users are. Tis is just a personal opinion and no harm meant.

What is your own problem with Fashola? Which leader in this world, no matter how good he is does not face opposition? It is the way and manner that you face such that matters....Fashola is first and foremost a Nigerian and is entitled to airing his opinion, people criticize him too...

When Keshi got the bashing of his life from Nigerians, he woke up and got his boys to perform beyond expectations....GEJ is getting thashing of his life, rather than prove Nigerians wrong by outperforming, he got his boys to talk like parrots to cover up his weak leadership...better go and take lessons from Keshi!!!

Imagine a Fashola, a Donald Duke, an El Rufai, a Ribadu, An Ngozi eweala, a Tunde Bakare etc as our president as against this joke" of a president...Nigerians better get it right in 2015. Brand positioning is important to any organization or country....we need firm and confident men on that seat, people who can hold their heads up and tell the world..."yes, we have a problem but we are working on our problems, just like every other country" Jonathan is a joke!!

TravelRe: How Come Nigerians In Canada Don't Like Each Other? by Ladapo(m): 5:54am On Jan 13, 2013
I live in Winnipeg and I can tell for sure that "some Nigerians" can be very terrible....very arrogant, unsupportive, ready to run you down and willing to leave you helpless....however, there are great individuals who you really would have wished you met earlier. My experience in Canada wasn't a pleasant one, I almost ran back home but for encouragement from other friends...

A family member who took us in when we arrived in Winnipeg with my wife and a little daughter made life very unbearble for us and this guy who is supposedly a family member exploited us in many ways, through us out out in the cold at an instance and almost sniffed life out of his wife cos of us....first, he took six months rent well ahead of time from us in cash (this is not the practice in Canada)....the guy was all about all the money he could get from us, knowing we are jjc....he eventually moved out of town and guess what, he sold the bed we sleep in and a few furniture to us at 1200 dollars, something we could get for less....he wanted me to buy his car for 8000$ but when I refused, he became a roaring lion ....I asked him for receipt for all the money I paid him totaling about 6400 dollars but till now, that is history and to think this guy claims to be a pastor....now I have learnt my lessons, people moving out of Nigeria into foreign lands should be mindful of friends and family members they relate with....you need people to survive but pray to meet the right people.

Winnipeg is the capital city of the province of Manitoba....I reall can't tell the size but the population of the city is not up to a million. It is known for its cold winter ( people survive it though). It is a city with so much opportunities because it is a developing city....the secret to surviving the cold is to always dress warm and stay indoor as much as possible in winter. In summer, it is sometimes even hotter than Lagos....

Would you rather live in America, Canada, Europe, or China?"

The biggest difference is that Canada has a decent primary education system, and the USA has a poor one. And it's really evident when you deal with people on a day to day basis in both countries.

Canada is more liberal than the USA, but for most people it's not that noticeable.

As you get older in the USA, you become a lot more concerned about health care expenses than you do in Canada.

The weather is generally better in the USA.

Most things cost more in Canada, and are taxed a lot more on top of that.
PoliticsThe Story Of Nigerians Abroad. by Ladapo(op): 11:26am On Jan 04, 2013
advertisement

One thing Nigerians Abroad should note is that they reside in the communities that made them whatever they are. They work, dine, socialize, and fellowship with their communities, 24 hours a day. Whatever stigma, either from the not too-good some Nigerian leaders, or from Media outlets on Nigerians, it affects every aspect of their life. In effect Nigerians are the ones to shake-off the stigma. Government comes, government goes, and Nigeria remains a country. Looking at the other side, Nigerians should be focusing on their image, especially those that live Abroad. They reside where their image matters.

The Media is all right to air events that make news that viewers want to hear. That is how the media get their ratings which affect their revenue as well. Whatever they publish or air about Nigeria are salient facts. However, if they refuse to profile good Nigerians, who are the majority, Nigerian Abroad should start doing that. This could be done through their various organizations at the end of the year or in summer by recognizing prominent Nigerians in their communities. They should endeavor to invite their neighbors, non-Nigerians especially, to these events. If you do not tell people who you are, they would never know, and whatever name they give you would be all right for their consumption.

No one expects a patriotic Nigerian to be happy about the negative publications, such as Medicaid fraud in Houston, the clever way of robbing a bank in Houston, the Internet scam, the 419 and to agree that all Nigerians are scammers. If and when the Media refuses to tell Nigeria positive story, it is left for Nigerians to respond and tell their neighbors who they are.

Research shows a long list of Nigerians that are making tremendous contributions to the economy of their communities, through their professions. The list by far, surpasses those that were being reported, with the blanket report, as scammers. Nigerians should start liberating themselves from the stigma for the sake of their children.

One of the Household names that quickly come to mind is Akeem Olalekan Olajuwon, "Hakeem the Dream." The 7 foot, 255 pounds Basket Ball player for Houston Rockets from 1984-2002. He led the Team to back-to-back championships in 1994 and 1995. In the 1993-94 season Olajuwon became the only player in NBA history to win the NBA's MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals, MVP Awards in the same season. In 1996, Olajuwon assisted in the gold medal-winning performance of the United States national team and was selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History, and NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team 1997. He was born in Lagos Nigeria. He credited his parents for instilling virtues of hard work and discipline into him and his siblings; "They taught us to be honest, work hard, respect our elders, believe in ourselves." He is a Nigerian. "Hakeem the Dream."

Another Nigerian in Houston is Kasey Lawal, the unassuming 51-year-old CEO of a modern-day oil magnate, Cameroon-American (CAMAC), with offices in London, Johannesburg, and Lagos and Port Harcourt in Nigeria. CAMAC routinely moves, produces or trades about 100,000 barrels of crude oil every 24 hours. An extremely private man, very reserved, yet dignified. But in business, Lawal's bravado comes through. He was born in Ibadan, Nigeria, to a politician and a mother who was a textile store merchant. He started CAMAC in 1986, first as an agriculture and commodities company that took tobacco from the South and made cigarettes to be sold overseas, but later decided to use his knowledge of the energy industry to get into the field of oil exploration. He is a commissioner on the Port of Houston Authority, the largest foreign tonnage port in the United States, and as vice chairman of the Houston Airport Development System Corporation, the sixth largest international airport system in the world. In 1994, he was a finalist for the United States Business Entrepreneur of the Year and also served on the President of the United States Business Advisory Council. He was awarded the US Africa Business Person of the Year, US Africa the Newspaper, 1997. He is from Nigeria, The Heart of Africa.

Another re-known Nigerian in the oil industry is Kenneth Yellowe. He is the CEO of Houston-based Global Energy, Inc. His Company became the first indigenously owned liquid petroleum gas processing plant to operate in Nigeria. Kenneth Yellowe spent 10 years developing the plant capable of producing LPG out of gas previously burned off in air-polluting flares. With no previous experience in oil and gas, he brought in some industry executives as consultants. That is a product from the Heart of Africa.

Name there's you know....

PoliticsAre Nigerian Leaders Drifting Nigeria Into A Hopeless Country - Femi Ajayi by Ladapo(op): 1:39am On Jan 04, 2013
It is quite unfortunate when we identify Nigeria, once known as the Giant of Africa, where everything used to work, turned into a country you have to give bribe to get contracts from the public, or get their children to pass exam, or seek admission; collect a lot of money and do sub-standard road jobs that maim and kill people, A country where preference is giving to smuggle goods that can be produced locally; refuse to follow the queues at service centers; take bank loans and refuse to pay back; go to work late and close early, yet take full payment by the end of the month.

Citizens evade taxes and sit to complain; aid politicians to rig elections because of greed; marginalize each other based on religion and ethnicity. Ironically conceal crime because it favors some public actors; vandalize public facilities regardless; frustrate good policy because it does not favor some interest groups; kill each other for selfish reasons.

Amazingly the so privileged elite Nigerians outside the country only abuse and insult others, without making some meaningful contributions to how the country can be better off, resolving into their respective ethnic groups, leaving their own sins to be told by others while on the discussion forum.

Where do we start from as we ushered in a new year, 2013?

Ironically, as Nigeria is becoming everything less, is the country actually drifting towards becoming hopeless?

An average Nigerian loves luxury like any other human beings as whenever they have the opportunity they will shop till they drop. Not just shopping but shop for the best. Hence, the foreign goods keep on finding their ways to the country including USED items, including overused foreign white human beings. Nigeria will be the first to use any newly manufactured products in the market.

As the world is becoming smaller, the latest of the wireless phone, finds its market in Nigeria, arriving with fireless cooking, keyless cars, fatless food with most of Nigerian female legs looking like that of the chicken legs, talking about sleeveless dresses under the pretence of the Tropical weather. A country where most Nigerian Youth are jobless and the leaders continue to be brazenly acquiring stupendous wealth.

Unfortunately, relationships are becoming meaningless and friendless, with some serious attitude being care less; wives are fearless. Education is valueless, where a college graduate, with PhD, would apply to be a Truck driver for Dangote companies with limited opportunities. Children are mannerless, and everything in the country is becoming LESS.

However, an average Nigerian is still struggling and refusing to be HOPELESS, as God is ENDLESS, in God we trust as an average American would say.

As everything is becoming LESS, some Nigerian leaders are turning the country into a hopeless country because Nigerian leaders are becoming barefaced by second. The unity of the country is being derailed with most of them focussing on acquiring private jets. They are racing for the 2015 elections while they refused to assist the government in power to successfully fight Boko Haram and the Kidnappers! Until we mend our ways, good governance will remain a mirage to Nigerians.

It is only in Nigeria where a Senator collects salaries and wages more than the President of the United States of America. It is a country where terrorists, militants, ritualists, kidnappers, pastors, imams, are in concert to be multi-billionaires, courtesy of the Federal Government. It is only in Nigeria where a Cabal is more powerful than the government of a country; a place where the masses kill themselves over idiocy, religion, ethnicity, and ignorance, while politicians laugh at them and keep on looting the public treasury. It is only in Nigeria where the Nigerian Judiciary, acquit a corrupt public official of a 172-count charge. It is only in Nigeria where those 'suffering and smiling' still allow sheep (masses) to be led by donkeys (politicians). It is only in Nigeria where Fresh Air is the hope of over 150 million people. It is amazing!! Truly, only in Nigeria!

Take a look at the recycling of Nigeria leaders, preventing fresh ideals, and younger Nigerians from making contributions to their motherland. In 1979, Bamanga Tukur was the Governor of the defunct Gongola State (now Adamawa & Taraba) and 33 years after, he is the Chairman of the Nigerian ruling Party, the PDP. Dr. Bello Halliru was commissioner in the Old Sokoto State (now Sokoto, Kebbi & Zamfara) and 33 years after he was made a Minister of Defence. Major General David Mark (rtd) was the military Governor of Niger State in 1984 and 28 years after he is the Senate President. Gov. Murtala Nyako was the Governor of Niger State in 1976 and 36 years after he is still the Governor of Adamawa State. Ogbonnaya Onu was Governor of Abia State in 1992 and 20 years after he is still the National Chairman of ANPP. Gov. David Jonah Jang was the Governor of Benue State in 1985 and 27 years after he is still the Governor of Plateau State; and Martins Elechi the Ebonyi State Governor is over 80 years old! Only in Nigeria is this possible.

Teachers, Pastors, Imams, normally refer to our children as the leaders of tomorrow, Babangida was the Nigeria President for about eight years, Buhari, Atiku, are still interested in being President. Atiku is still sniffing around what will be cooking in 2015. Our teachers, preachers, either lied to us about being the future leaders of tomorrow. Alternatively, Tomorrow is yet to come. If tomorrow, comes............What next Nigeria? Where is the Nigeria future with the recycling of the politicians once public officials?

The Sad Effect Of Corruption In Nigeria: Secondary school children in an open place as exam hall because there is no light in their class room

When Nigerians loot, they keep it in Switzerland; when sick, they go to Germany; Israel, Saudi, or India. When investing, they go to America. When buying mansions, they visit London. When shopping, they go to Dubai. When on holidays, they go to the Bahamas. When educating their children, they select Europe. When to pray, they go to Saudi Arabia, Vatican City or Jerusalem. However, when they die, they all want to be buried in Nigeria. Is Nigeria only good for the dead bodies?

Who would liberate the country from the world murky labels, despite the 0.01% of its population, being responsible for the 80% of the international Nigeria reputation damages?

FBI has named Nigeria as the 3rd country responsible for the overall fraud count on the Internet today (2012) of the entire population as murders of their opponents; and corrupt. One of the problems facing Nigeria today was due to the failure of institutions and systems.

A man that cannot cry, and cannot laugh, will find it difficult to find empathy. Patriotism does not drive on empty, caring nation do something to show that care not empty exhortation. A friend once reminded me that "Patriotism does not drive on emptiness, caring nation do something to show they care, not an empty exhortation." Nigerians never know what is right, until they are personally hit by a tragedy that hit their fellow Nigerians, and they remain indifferent.

The 5th position of Nigeria Police within the UN peace keeping forces, with its 20 peacekeeping missions since 1960, among the 130 UN police, is a good mark for Nigeria, but does not tally with its local reputation. All we know them for is notorious, in unresolved murders, political killings, and criminal tendencies.

Amazingly, the head of the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), Ellen Margrethe Loj, recently commended Nigeria's peacekeepers for being

"well equipped to provide creative and home-grown expert solution to complex global challenges." She went on "Nigerians always come to peacekeeping operations with knowledge, skills and experience laced with insights and depth as rich and diverse as their country, … you have carried out many complex tasks, including anticrime patrols, cordon and search, stop and search, rescue operations, crowd control, riot dispersal operations and escort duties. Through your many accomplishments, you have made the UN proud."
Nigerians are seriously concerned about the insecurity level in the country that has deteriorated beyond the critical level. Desperate times require desperate measures. Therefore, this is the time for citizens to declare a state of emergency on both leaders and the country.

Bomb Blasts, Political Assassinations, Kidnappings and Armed Robberies, Religious Crises, Corruption; Government and Security Failures: Citizen and group led Sovereign National Conference: Unemployable Nigerian Graduates, all to the credits of Nigerian leaders. There has been some unpleasant revelation about the unemployable of most Nigerian Graduates in the country that has pride itself as the most educated country in Africa, if not in the world.

Unavailability of publications or materials for educating Nigerian students because of fake lecturers, fake PhDs. In the face of survival and the continuous strikes, fake Universities that want to educate Nigerians that are on the quest to acquire the classroom education; Poor curricular, Lacking modern teaching methods, More of cultism in the schools, More Adewoles in the Education sector where you can obtain your certifies at the corridor of your home in the face of survival or using the brain on negative lines.

How does the Country avert the unemployment in the country?

Construction industry employs very high level of professionals, plumbers, electricians, surveyors, utility managers, architects, engineers among others. Artisans such as Barbering and cosmetology, everyone wants to look good except men are focussing more on baldness hiding away their irregular hair grow, grey hair; while women are still on the move as to present themselves as queens, goddesses of God extraction. Some States embark on massive road construction, housing projects, airport construction. Nigeria is blessed with arable lands that young graduates could work on. Possibly mechanized farming goes into dairy products, animal husbandry, poultry, and fishery among others.

In the midst of Poverty, Insecurity, Infrastructure, NIGERIA stands at the 10th most failed states in Africa and the 14th in the world. Definitely, something is fundamentally wrong with Nigeria, not with Jonathan. That obviously needs to be collectively fixed.

Explosively an Assistant Inspector General of Police, Tambari Yabo Muhammad, disclosed in August 2012 that the position of the Nigerian Constitution on criminal justice has led to recycling of criminals in the country. Suspected criminals regrouped after being let off the hook through prerogative of mercy or amnesty.

Sadly, the World Bank, on a study conducted in 26 states in Nigeria, disclosed that about 80 per cent of businesses in Nigeria paid bribes to government officials in 2011 to stay in business. According to the report only 20 per cent of micro-enterprise firms said they to have had foreknowledge of the amount of money required to 'get things done', a situation that means the informal payments are sudden and unplanned for. These informal payments or gifts, the report said represented approximately 1.2 per cent of annual sales for all micro-enterprises. It added, too, that micro-enterprises dealing in government contracts were expected to pay approximately 4.3 per cent of the value of contracts that they were hoping to secure.

Manufactured goods attracted larger bribes of 6.7 per cent than those for small services that got 3.9 per cent. However, firms in the formal sector obviously spent more on corruption, as 47 per cent of formal firms claimed that informal gifts or payments were commonplace in comparison to 33 per cent for micro-enterprises. Also, the report stated that micro-enterprises have a greater mistrust of institutions than formal firms; that 63 per cent of formal sector firms and 72 per cent of micro-enterprises reported that the application of laws was not consistent and predictable; and that 41 per cent of formal firms and 20 per cent of micro-enterprises reported that they had advance knowledge of informal payments or gifts.

Could it be that the demons that were not yet cast out could have been working on the religious groups in the country with the reports of Pastors caught in armed robbery and other social ills, while competing for private jets?

In the words of Alexander the Great, after conquering the known world to him then, on his return home with his health failing him, he had three wishes: His Physicians alone should carry his coffin; the path leading to his graveyard be strewed with gold, silver, and precious stones which he had collected in his treasury; and this hands be kept dangling out of his coffin.

At this, Alexander took a deep breath and said: "I would like the world to know of the three lessons I have learnt. I want my physicians to carry my coffin because people should realize that no doctor can really cure any body. They are powerless and cannot save a person from the clutches of death." Nigerian heartless leaders should be aware. If they refuse to change the country positively, the storm of change will convert them to the direction they don't want.

In the words of Major Patrick Chukwuma Kaduna Nzeogwu, January 15, 1966

"...Our enemies are the political profiteers, the swindlers, the Men in high and low places that seek Bribes and demand 10 percent, those that seek to keep the country divided permanently so that they can remain in office as ministers or VIP's at least, the tribalists, the nepotists, those that make the country look big for nothing before international circles, those that have corrupted our society and put the Nigerian political calendar back by their words and deeds."

Can you spot the difference between Nigeria's president, Goodluck Jonathan and, & UK Prime Minister, David Cameron and wifehuh!

TravelWorld"s Coldest Cities by Ladapo(op): 3:55am On Dec 15, 2012
When people in England, Scotland etc complain @ 0 degrees, I used to feel that Winnipeggers should be screaming at - 27 degrees/-35 degrees, however, I found a link that shows the world's coldest cities and I wonder how people survive in theses cities.....http://www.mnn.com/earth-matters/climate-weather/photos/7-of-the-coldest-places-in-the-world-to-live/bone-chilling.

Bone-chilling

The weather is changing again — a good time to look at some of the insanely cold places where people actually live. The citizens of places like Verkhoyansk and Yakutsk (both in Russia) live very different lives from you or me, at least in the winter. Drivers in those cities often leave their cars idling outside in the parking lot for hours while they shop and run errands, and they're familiar with the intricacies of reheating frozen axle grease with a blow torch.

The coldest temperature ever recorded was minus 128.6 degrees F in at the Russian research station in Vostok, Antarctica, on July 21, 1983. While none of these towns or cities gets that cold, some get frighteningly close to it. Here are seven of the coldest places in the world to live.

1. Verkhoyansk, Russia

According to the 2002 census, Verkhoyansk in Russia has 1,434 hardy residents who carve out a living in the deep Siberian wilderness. It was founded as a fort in 1638 and serves as a regional hub in cattle breeding and tin and gold mining. Located 404 miles from Yakutsk, another cold locale on our list and and 1,500 miles south of the North Pole, Verkhoyansk was used to house political exiles between the 1860s and early 20th century.

It was no wonder they chose to send exiles to Verkhoyansk: In January the average temperature is minus 50.4 degrees F and mean monthly temperatures stay below freezing from October through April. In 1892, residents recorded the still all-time low of minus 90 degrees F. Modern day residents pile on huge fur hats and coats and tend to stay indoors when it gets really cold.

2. Oymyakon, Russia

Folks in Oymyakon take exception whenever Verkhoyansk lays claim to being the coldest location in the Northern Hemisphere, pointing out that they recorded a low of minus 90 degrees F on Feb. 6, 1933. Depending on whom you ask, 500 to 800 people call Oymyakon home, a three-day drive from Yakutsk. Schools stay open through minus 52 degrees.

The village is named after a local hot spring, which some residents tap during the winter by breaking through the thick crust of ice rimming the warm water. Oymyakon's tourism board has promoted the town as a perfect destination for adventure travelers hungry for a taste of the extreme.

3. International Falls, Minn.

OK, so maybe International Falls, Minn., isn't half as cold as Oymyakon or Verkhoyansk, but what it lacks in sheer chill it makes up for by being one of the coldest places in the contiguous United States. About 6,703 people live in International Falls (according to the 2000 census), which sits on the border between the U.S. and Canada.

Winters in International Falls are long and cold with average temperatures in January hovering around 2.7 degrees F. The mercury hits 0 on more than 60 nights a year, and the area gets a lot of snow (65.5 inches of annual snowfall). International Falls is waging a war with the next entry, Fraser, Colo., for the trademarked title of "Icebox of the Nation."

We got married and now have a child and expecting another...as is the practise in the western world, we were asked to do another testing and the result indicated that I am AD carrier(whatever that means). I am sure people re wondering why such question but the truth is, many people are ready to sell everything they ever worked for in their lives to move to canada without finding out what life out there is like...
1. Professionals with years of experience in their home countries end up working as security, cleaners etc

When I say live abroad, I don't mean as an illegal immigrant oooo and not in some "Nigeria better pass" countries....I mean countries like Canada, u.s, Australia etc and what do you consider most important to you when making such decisions? This questions came about when I was discussing living abroad and staying in Nigeria with a friend who gave instances that Nigeria is better cos there are people who have lived abroad and have nothing to show for it, while their mates in Nigeria have been able to build lives for themselves even better than people outside.
