Politics / Re: Failed IMMIGRATION Recruitment, Another Report Gone? by Ladapo(m): 11:08pm On Aug 15, 2014
There is a similar case presently going on and would want someone to confirm this. So I heard that the federal government is planning to replicate a similar program to Lastma across the country starting with Lagos state. They have asked all candidates being considered for this new project to pay the sum of N 35,000 each for their uniforms and whoever does not pay does not get considered for the position. I was mad when I heard this but then it was too late because my person has already made the said payment and they have told them that they will get back to them. This is presently going on and I need to confirm it.

Travel / Re: How Best Do I Get Out Of Nigeria With My Family by Ladapo(m): 8:11pm On Dec 19, 2013
i love this thread and will like to contribute to this thread. Everyone is entitled to his opinion and the Op has not done anything wrong to ask this house for their opinions. Before I left Nigeria, I was making, on a very bad month, about 100 thousand naira apart from my monthly salary and my wife was making about 150k as salary monthly. It was a difficult decision for me to move but i thought of the following and that actually prompted me to move eventually;
1. How functional is the Nigerian society? You make so much and it takes little effort for you to go back to the zero level i.e 'once you are down, you go way down!!
2. We pay for everything and I mean everything in Nigeria as much as we do abroad...gas, electricity, water, your own security etc. In Canada, health care is free for my kids at all levels, school is free, I loose a job today, I am sure I will get another in no time, my children get paid some money every month which is enough to pay house rent and feed, I am adding value by going to school; govt gave me loans and I even got about 10 thousand dollars in grant!!! I dont have to pay back!!!

I could go on and on but I am in class now....

Have you ever wondered why everyone is picking on us? Kenyans, Ghanaians, South Africans, Britain, U.S and now Indians and very soon Philippines, Afghanistan, Sudan etc it is all because; We don't even respect ourselves in the first place and a house divided against itself cannot stand;
1. Our leaders take us for granted
2. Some of us are so lawless that we carry such lawlessness to other people's territories forgetting you are no more in Nigeria where everything and anything goes.. God help that entity called Nigeria.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I asked the question cos I couldn't convince the guy not to leave. I know the grass is not always greener on the other side and maybe " I just dey fear" for my friend ni for the fillowingreasons ;

1. I don't think he will be going to the school cos of funding.
2. Getting a job, accommodation etc. Is not always easy without papers and even PR holders still complain cos u ll find out that some people live better in Nigeria until they land here.

Well, thanks for the advice everyone, I can only pray for my friend....i am not a wicked soul o my dear friend, I just don't like when people go through difficult times.

Family / What Should Be Your Priority At Age 30? by Ladapo(m): 2:23pm On Jul 06, 2013
From age 18 to your 29th birthday, you have done all the studying and basics of career development. I feel that at age 30,it’s best to review and establish milestones and goals so you know you’re on track. age 30 is something that can still be worked with regardless of the mistakes of the past.....so house,, what do you think should be one' s priority at this age?

1. Marriage
2. Plans for retirement
3. Building a house
4. Education

Nairaland / General / How Much Money Is Ever Enough For Us In Life? by Ladapo(m): 2:59pm On Mar 31, 2013
It. 'S good to have the good things in life....the best house, the best ride, the best quality of life but I think it is insane when we just want everything good to be just ours alone in order to impress the people around us. You hear some corruption to stories and you go like "What?

Should an individual who has about 1 billion naira assets + one hundred million naira in liquid cash continue to struggle with the rest? I just want to sample people's thoughts....why do people need more money?

Lovely documentary...God bless people like Fela and the likes...I still wonder when the 160 million people in Nigeria will ever get it right though. We just keep sinking....one thing I take out from this documentary is that GEJs gover can be likened to Shagari's but I hope it won't en d up like it.
TV/Movies / Re: My Oga At The Top. This Is Not Professional Jornalism By Channels Tv by Ladapo(m): 2:41pm On Mar 14, 2013
I am not making a case for the guy o, infact, my point is...he is not a smart government official as much as the head of the government himself. Infact, as dumb as GEJ is, he was able to at least get Amanpour not to ridicule him as much.
TV/Movies / Re: My Oga At The Top. This Is Not Professional Jornalism By Channels Tv by Ladapo(m): 5:04am On Mar 14, 2013
As much as I agree with you that the poor officer might not be the best person to ask such a question, a smart individual would have had a way of shelving the question. He gave the Channels crew the opprtunity to ridicule him....he should have simply said something like....I am sorry, I am not the best person to ask for the website' or 'I really cant tell at the moment as there is an ongoing decision to...you, know what I mean.

Thanks for this level of Awareness aballi and I will want to encourage young couples of today to take this issue of genotype seriously before marriage. However, there is an issue I am still very confused about...I live in Canada but before relocating to Canada, have had to do my blood sampling twice and it was the basis of the result that I got married to my wife who is AS....I was told I was AA on the 2 occasions I had my tastings in Nigeria but when I got to Canada and we had a cause to do the testing again, it turned out to be "AD" ...even doctors here are confused about it but they said we could have a child with SD which is like SS...remember my wife is AS and now I am AD. It is my hope that I don't have anymore kids in order not to get into the possibilities and now, I have to lecture my daughters ( 1st girl is 3 and 2nd is less than 1) on the need to get married to AA genotype husbands cause they re already classified as AD.

My questions are:
1. Has anyone heard about AD before?
2. You really have to be sure of your genotype before marriage...please, please and please, though I did mine twice before leaving Nigeria.
3. Can someone lecture us all on the different types available?
