Hello people, I have a business plan that I have been financing with a friend for sometime now.We have been doing quite well and competitors are fast coming on board, that is to show that it is a viable business. However, I wish to ask the house, if anyone knows where I can source for fund to the tune of 7000000 in order to further enable us move on to the next stage of the business. I have this relationship going well and I thot it was going to be one of those"they lived happill ever after stories until things changed.we were happy, she was very nice and was there for me when things were pretty odd not bad and I trully appreciate that, then I got a job that took me from one state to the other and then the story changed. first,it was the issue of money, this girl wanted all of my first month salary even when I was not really settled at my present location but when I refused to oblige her, she started all sorts of attitudes. Second, she started all sorts of lies and would not pick my calls again for a long time, on one occassion, she told me a lie and I confirmed from a source that it was indeed a lie she was telling and I lost it and said unprintable words to her, after which I apologised and begged for a long time before she decided to forgive. I thot we were getting back cos after all our argument and all that,we resolved everything and we got exchanging fone calls again though, I was doing more of the calling but that one no affect me until recently,I called her cos I needed her to help me do something urgently before I get to town for the holidays but wen i called her fone, it rang for hours unending but she did not pick it.this was on Sat. I did the same on Sunday, called her all thru the day no response. Then I called her at work on Monday she refused to pick again,I then called her office and the fone was transferred to her, only then did she talk to me and told me she was sorry as she did not come to work with her fone and wld not know if her fone rang or not and that it was on vibration all thru the weeekend at about 45 mins. later,I hid my num. and called her again to confirm if she trully left her fone at home, and then ,only then, she picked the call and lo, she was on phone, but when I spoke and asked her why she had to lie,she dropped on me and never called back since then, even when I call, she refused picking her calls. I sent her a text to tell me the truth, what the problem is and i told her she doesn't have to continue lying, but to come out straiht and say it the way it is. I am totally confused I never knew I cld love this girl the way I do now,and what she is doing is driving me crazy. I think I am the stupid one, who has refused to see that the party is over, or do u think I am to forward with my conclusion. |

A mutual fund is a pool of money that is professionally managed for the benefit of all shareholders. As an investor in a mutual fund, you own a portion of the fund, sharing in any increases or decreases in the value of the fund. A mutual fund may focus on stocks, bonds, cash, or a combination of these asset classes. The beauty of mutual funds Mutual funds offer a number of advantages, including diversification, professional management, cost efficiency and liquidity. Diversification. A mutual fund spreads your investment dollars around better than you could do by yourself. This diversification tends to lower the risk of losing money. Diversification usually results in lower volatility, because when some investments are doing poorly, others may be doing well. Professional management. Many people don't have the time or expertise to make investment decisions. A mutual fund's investment managers, however, are trained to search out the best possible returns, consistent with the fund's strategies and goals. In essence, your mutual fund investment brings you the services of a professional money manager. Cost efficiency. Putting your money together with other investors creates collective buying power that may help you achieve more than you could on your own. As a group, mutual fund investors can buy a large variety and number of specific investments. They can also afford to pay for professional money managers and fund operating expenses, where they wouldn't be able to afford it on their own. Liquidity. With most funds, you can easily sell your fund shares for cash. Some mutual fund shares are traded only once a day at a fixed price, while stocks and bonds can be bought or sold any time the markets are open at whatever price is then available. Buying shares You can buy shares a few different ways, depending on the rules of the particular fund. Funds are often described as either being "no-load" or "load" funds, depending on whether or not they charge a sales commission. No-load funds: Many funds are no-load funds that charge no (or a very low) sales fee or commission. Financial companies typically sell no-load funds directly to investors in places like newspapers and magazines. In this case, you complete all the paperwork yourself. Load funds: These funds charge a sales fee or commission for purchases. Some funds charge the fee when you buy shares; others charge when you sell them. Brokerage firms and banks often sell load funds, and will help process any paperwork. There are reputable, high-performing funds in both categories. Because sales charges reduce your return, we believe that investors should consider no-load funds whenever possible. |
Nigeria Improves In TI Corruption Rating Nigeria has improved 14 notches in the latest corruption ranking of 180 countries by Transparency International (TI), the global organ leading the crusadeagainst public sleaze. The Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2007 released in London on Wednesday rated Nigeria the 31st most corrupt country, and placed it 147th with two other countries out of the 180 assessed. This confirmed the exclusive report in Daily Independent on September 25 that the country would move up the scale, based on the positive performance of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the fight against corruption and money laundering. Nigeria had in 2006 ranked the 17th most corrupt country, following its rating of 146 out of 163 countries surveyed. It was graded the most corrupt in 2003, second most corrupt in 2004, and third most corrupt in 2005.The improvement on the global scale comes 10 days after United States President, George Bush, praised the EFCC for its seizure of millions of Dollars from the proceeds of crime, and for its anti-money laundering efforts. Concerted measures are urgently needed in rich and poor countries to stem the flow of corrupt monies, and make justice work for the poor, she added."Developed and developing countries must share responsibility for reducing corruption, in tackling both the supply and demand sides."Despite some gains, corruption remains an enormous drain on resources sorely needed for education, health and infrastructure".Labelle advised low scoring countries to take the latest corruption results seriously, and to immediately strengthen accountability in public institutions. |
Have you ever suspected your girlfriend to be cheating on you at one point in your relationship? Do you trust her too much and believe that she can never do something foolish behind your back? If you do, it is time to wake up boy because some women, just like men, also flirt when their boyfriends are not in sight. They find enjoyment in playing and leading on other guys especially if they know that the said guys are attracted to them. Although only a few go further than flirting like sleeping with another guy, this still becomes one of the common reasons why couples break-up. So, if you think that your girlfriend is doing something unusual, try to look at some evidences on how to tell if your girlfriend is cheating. The first evidence that you can look for is when she starts buying more new clothing than she used to. If you are already spending months or years together as boyfriend-girlfriend, you must have been familiar with how your girlfriend dresses and how she purchases clothing for herself. Although there are girls who become suddenly interested with clothes, this will still become a big puzzle to you especially if you are used to seeing your girl wearing simple clothes and buying only new items when there are important occasions to attend. If you notice this sudden need to buy new items of clothing, be more watchful because the reason behind could be to create a new look and feel more attractive to the man she is seeing behind your back. Give more special attention on whether she buys new underwear or lingerie because these are big clues on how to tell if your girlfriend is cheating. Other evidences are receipts and unexplained extra mileage on the car. These two can provide you with loads of information and help you on how to tell if your girlfriend is cheating. When your girlfriend cheats, her buying habits change as well as the frequency of usage of the car. Although these changes can happen even to those girlfriends who are not cheating but merely finding ways to have more fun, these are still strong evidences to consider. Check the receipts of her purchases and take note of the mileage on the car at the start and end of the day. Do the receipts show purchases of new underwear, men's items like cologne and shirt but you never remember them being given to you or to anyone you know, and large amount of credit for her cell phone? Do you see a big difference between the distance she said she traveled and what the counter on the car says in reality? The answer to these questions will sure be of big help on how to tell if your girlfriend is cheating. And lastly, evidences like her cell phone and phone bills will also help you determine if your girlfriend is indeed cheating. Do you find strange numbers on her cell phone and phone bills? Is there someone calling her more often and does she try to get distant from you when somebody calls? If you answer yes to these, then consider them as indicators that something is really going on. But do not confront her at once; you must dig deeper by looking at other ways on how to tell if your girlfriend is cheating. You can look at the address book to check the strange number or you can try calling it and listen to the voice at the other line. |

An Islamic court in Nigeria has banned a satirical play written by a rights activist about corrupt politicians in states run under Sharia law. Shehu Sani's play Phantom Crescent lampoons officials who use Sharia laws to help them plunder state funds. A court hearing is scheduled for Tuesday; meanwhile a performance on 23 October has been postponed. Since Nigeria's return to civil rule in 1999, Sharia law has been introduced in 12 mainly Muslim states in the north. The order was issued by a court in the northern state of Kaduna in response to a motion filed by a pro-Sharia group. Mr Sani told the AFP news agency: "I have contacted my lawyers who are prepared to fight this infringement on my fundamental right to freedom of expression." He said his play was a satire depicting how politicians - especially governors of the states implementing the Islamic Sharia legal system - used the system "as a tool for looting the public treasury with impunity and for stifling opposition". This latest act of censorship comes after the authorities in Kano State suspended all filming in August for six months after a video clip of popular actress Maryam Hiyana having sex with a married man. Officials said that in future actors and directors would need a licence to make films and production companies would have to meet strict criteria before being be allowed to do business. Sharia courts use an Islamic system of law based on the ancient verses of the Koran and they run concurrently in northern Nigeria with the national civil system. Culled from BBC, |
Taurus is one of the more practical personalities in the zodiac and, like their symbol the bull, those born under the sign are markedly plodding and methodical. However, one should never underestimate the power they possess in planning a tenacious, step-by-step approach to ultimate success. Taureans are not flash or fiery, but possess an uncommonly observant nature backed by a steely reserve and remarkable powers of will. You can rely on the determined Taurus to always get want they want, if not today - then in due time. Generally, they are the very model of cool and even-temperedness, but anyone who tangles with the ill-tempered bull usually lives to regret it, especially if a Taurean perceives that their homes or security are under imminent threat. Securing their most basic needs for themselves and their loved ones, Taurus people are basically lovers of creature comforts and are often surrounded by them. Their tastes often run to the traditional, and they do not venture to seek out new ways of doing things, but generally rely on the tried-and-true. In their careers, Taureans are most attracted to detailed analysis and typically make successful bookkeppers, accountants and bankers or, in the arts, craftspeople and artisans who excel at intricate motifs & designs. As the sign rules the throat, Taurus people may exhibit unusual or charismatic speaking and singing voices. Adversely, illnesses suffered usually center around the neck resulting in pain or muscle stiffness in that area, frequent sore throats, or chronic thyroid conditions. Famous Taurus People - David Beckham, Tony Blair, George Clooney, Jay Leno, Willie Nelson, Jack Nicholson, Al Pacino, Queen Elizabeth II, Barbra Streisand

Nairalanders , can we look a little away from our social-political, economic problems for a while? And let's Use this medium to profer solutions to our problems in Nigeria, I start by saying: The problem: Corruption is increasingly recognized as a preeminent problem in the developing world. Bribery, extortion, fraud, kickbacks, and collusion have resulted in retarded economies, predator elites, and political instability, My proposed solution: In a country where every politician is charge-sheeted, where bribery is the code name for getting any work done through bureaucracy, common people seem to no longer bother about such mundane issues. If one reviews the data a little carefully, it is not difficult to note that the countries at the top of the list have one thing in common (irrespective of their demography). The least corrupt countries are economically more free, with a less intrusive government and much less regulations. Similarly, the countries that are the most corrupt also have something in common: They have a burgeoning government that endorses protectionist policies armed with tariffs, quotas, prohibitions and similar such evils. To put it in very simple words, countries that have a free market policy are the least corrupt, whereas countries that are dependant on government are the most corrupt. This then is the simple truth about corruption, though some people will scoff at this idea. They have not only placed the government to the ugly status of demigod, but also look up to the government for solutions of all social evils. The government is not the solution for corruption, but it is definitely the precursor of corruption. The best example of how a market-driven economy weeds out corruption, compared to a government-dominated country, is the “Enron-UTI” saga. Enron, one of the wealthiest companies in the world, as well as its auditor (accounting giant Arthur Andersen), both went bankrupt as soon as the accounting scandal unfolded. The punishment for fraudulence was swift and lethal. In a market-driven economy, consumer confidence is the cornerstone of success, and once it is breached, it is an unpardonable offense. The bureaucracy in Nigeria today is actually a sophisticated name for kleptocracy. These thick-skinned people not only take bribes shamelessly, but have also started considering such payments as their rightful earnings. A small example in this perspective--It takes approximately three to four months to secure a simple passport and if you want it fast you can get it if only after paying a hefty bribe, (not less than N15,000)! Instead of this government monopoly, if we had competitive agencies issuing passports, it would have taken at most a week to get a passport without paying any bribes! Adam Smith in his famous book The Wealth of Nations had postulated the primary role of the government as providing security to the citizens against internal and foreign aggressions. But the current spate of defense corruption raises doubt whether the government is capable of performing this basic function satisfactorily or not!! The policemen, municipal authorities and political dadas (supposed to provide protection to common people) extort a huge sum of money from vendors, rickshaw pullers, taxi drivers, etc. every year. The misery of these free agents of trade can be solved by not viewing them as a nuisance, but including them in the town planning. Heard of the “trickle up approach”? The grants given by the World Bank and IMF are government-to-government transfers. The leakages in the system have transformed the economic principle of the “trickle down approach” to the “trickle up approach.” One famous economist aptly remarked about this: The aid given by the World Bank and the IMF passes from the poor people of the developed countries to the rich people of the underdeveloped countries! Now if we accept that government is the main predecessor of corruption, there is a solution to the problem as well. Suppose there was no restriction on immigration. Any person can stay in any country he or she wishes. Rational people will prefer to stay in that country where the government is limited and efficient, taxes are lower, etc. Now suppose on the basis of these criteria, a lot of Nigerians move to other countries. The government will suddenly find itself bankrupt, as there are no people left to pay taxes. This competition among the governments of different countries to attract people will not only help to weed out corruption, but will also foster a limited, efficient, stable government. If we can have competition among consumer durables, why can’t we have competition among governments? This might seem a very far-fetched idea, but it is not an impossible one. Similar is the case for legalizing drugs and prostitution, which will not only bring an end to the unaccounted for, uncontrolled drug and women trafficking but will help to bring the problem under control. Free society is of course not a perfect society. There will always be some murderers, rapists, and drug addicts in a free society. But the three pillars of liberty, property rights and free trade will not only help to curb corruption but also foster a sustainable and civil society. |
