The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said the illegal rendition of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu would destroy Nigeria. This was disclosed in a statement signed by IPOB’s spokesman, Emma Powerful in response to a comment by the Presidency that Kanu’s arrest though illegal, and trial would lead to the end of the separatist group. The statement read, “The attention of the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU has been drawn to the ranting and laughable statement from Garba Shehu the SSA Media to President Buhari saying that the extraordinary rendition of IPOB leader will lead to the end of IPOB agitation. “We are surprised at the level of cluelessness and ignorance displayed by Garba Shehu about the operations of IPOB. We, therefore, want to assure him and his co-travellers that the extraordinary rendition of our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU will rather destroy Nigeria and not IPOB. By kidnapping and renditioning Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Nigeria has committed an international crime and must not go unpunished. “The world doesn’t need any further proof that IPOB is a peaceful movement. The kidnap of its Leader by the Nigeria Government is a crime that must be punished. So, by this singular violation of international law, Nigeria is in already but instead of admitting the obvious its officials and busy playing to the gallery. But very soon, the masterminds of this heinous crime will be rounded up and handed over to the international criminal court, ICC for prosecution. IPOB is not a push-over movement, and we cannot be intimidated. Just very soon our oppressors will be taught by ICC in the language they understand. “IPOB remains a nonviolent organisation but has been the victim of the high-handedness of the Nigeria Authorities. The wicked Nigeria security agents have continued their secret genocide against Biafra agitators. But they will pay for their atrocities very soon,” the statement added. https://independent.ng/ipob-says-the-rendition-of-nnamdi-kanu-will-destroy-nigeria/ |

No fewer than two hundred Ijaw communities in three Local Government Areas of Edo State, have decried abandonment by government of the state. Secretary Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, Omaghomi Olu-Derimon, alleged the abandonment in a statement made available to our correspondent in Benin on Tuesday. He lamented that Ijaw communities in Ikpoba-Okha, Ovia North East and Ovia South West Local Government Areas of the state had been allowed to fend for themselves, stressing that the communities lack basic amenities that would enhance development. He said despite marginalisation, Ijaw communities had contributed in no small measure to the political and economic development of the state. He appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to, as a matter of urgency, correct the anomaly in order to give the people a sense of belonging. https://punchng.com/200-ijaw-communities-in-edo-lament-abandonment/ |

In my opinion, it depends on what the couple has agreed to - and couples definitely need to discuss their boundaries upfront - before there are questions like this. |

A group, Ndi-Igbo United Forum (NUF), has expressed disappointment at Tuesday’s meeting of Southeast governors and Igbo leaders in Enugu State. It stated that the Southeast region was severely challenged with insecurity over the continued detention of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, but the governors and leaders failed to address the issue. They demanded that the meeting should be reconvened and demand the immediate release of Kanu from detention to check the rising tension in the region. In a statement issued by its Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Chinedu Mba, he said: “On October 5, 2021, Southeast governors, lawmakers, traditional and religious leaders met in Enugu. “The meeting was necessitated by recent developments and tension in the Southeast region, particularly rising insecurity. “We are delighted that the meeting was finally held. However, we are not impressed with the outcome of the meeting, which was made public through a communiqué.” The group of all the issues raised at the meeting, NUF and most Southeast people were disappointed over the failure to address the fundamental causes of the breakdown of Law and order in the region and the endless detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. “As we have been consistently campaigning, injury to one is an injury to all. Our brother and son that has been languishing in detention, deserves sympathy from his kinsmen. We expected the Kanu issue and his predicament to have been extensively discussed at the meeting. “Every Igbo person expected our leaders to have updated us on their plans of how to engage the Federal Government on Nnamdi Kanu’s case. But it was extremely disappointing when the eight-point communiqué was released without mention of Kanu’s case. The group argued that the deteriorating security situation in the Southeast region was fundamentally attached to Kanu’s detention, stressing that it was also direct spite on the sensibilities and continued marginalisation of Igbo people in the country. “Instead of the Federal Government to see reasons with Kanu and IPOB’s morally justifiable agitations, they decided to arrest him, thereby adding insult to injury. That is an insult to the collective psyche of Ndigbo and NUF will never support such brazen humiliation of the entire Igbo race, no matter who is involved,” it added. https://guardian.ng/news/group-expresses-disappointment-at-governors-igbo-leaders-meeting-in-enugu/

Ahead of the governorship election in Anambra State, Governor Willie Obiano has updated President Muhammadu Buhari on security challenges facing the state.. the governor, while briefing the State House correspondents at the end of a closed-door meeting with the President in Abuja, said bandits from nothern states are responsible for the killings and disruption of public peace in the state. Mr Obiano, dismissed the contemplation of declaring a state of emergency in his state. He said: “Well, that’s a very unfortunate comment by the Attorney-General, Malami – very, very unfortunate.. “These invaders from outside Anambra state, from other states , we are going to deal with them. We’re already working, there’s nothing. “Even to contemplate state of emergency is unfortunate, look at what is happening in the north; they kill dozens every day. Because one or two people were killed in Anambra in two weeks, is that a reason for somebody to call for a state of emergency? “That’s a very unfortunate comment by Malami. I will call him to express reservation on those kinds of comments, he shouldn’t try that next time,’’ he said. “We’ll overwhelm and conquer all these miscreants that came from other states to come and harass Anambra people. “Let me stop at saying that they are from neighbouring states,’’ he said. While comparing what is happening in the Northwest and Northeast to incidents in Anambra, the governor said: “Well, when you have malaria and when you have cancer, they are two different treatments. “What we have in Anambra is malaria, so you don’t have to use a sledgehammer to kill that. We are not near, in terms of confusion and security challenges, compared to Zamfara, Niger, kastina, sokoto and co, so they are not good examples. “As a strategist, you don’t sit down here and order the army to carry the whole army in Nigeria to go to Anambra. https://dailynigerian.com/bandits-ipob-responsible/

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has said Southeast governors, religious leaders, and traditional rulers cannot decide the fate of Igbos regarding Biafra adding that together they make up less than 1% of Igbo population. IPOB said Southeast governors and the elites are too small to decide if Igbos should remain with Nigeria against their wish. In a statement by its spokesman, Emma Powerful, IPOB said: “We are the global movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our able leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU. Our attention has been drawn to the laughable disgraceful statement credited to the South-East governors where they said that Igbo did not want to leave Nigeria, and threatened to create an anti- agitation group in South East to checkmate IPOB. “We, therefore, wish to remind South-East governors that their disgraceful plan of creating another group to checkmate IPOB is dead on arrival. The people have lost confidence in them and just as their imaginary Ebubeagu security outfit, no such faceless group can survive in South East. “But we want to remind South-East governors and the Igbo political elite that they represent less than one percent of the Biafran population. The rest of over 99% of the people earnestly ask for Biafra, and the train has long left the station. “It is unfortunate that the south East governors are the ones contemplating creating anarchy in the region. Now we can see the real sponsors of the festering insecurity in the region. We are watching them. Now it is obvious that South-East governors in collaboration with the wicked Nigeria security agents are behind the fake groups wreaking havoc across the South East in their desperation to implicate IPOB. “Instead of setting up a sincere regional security outfit like Amotekun, they created the mischievous and imaginary Ebube Agu to do the hatchet job for them. All this is in their futile efforts to demonise IPOB and ultimately scuttle the growing agitation for Biafra restoration which they consider injurious to their political interests. “What happened in Imo State yesterday was a confirmation of the strong suspicion all along that the selfish political elite and the security agencies are behind the current spate of insecurity in the South East. The world is still in shock of that act where Nigeria police killed Nigeria DSS as unknown gunmen who is terrorising innocent citizens and tagged him as ESN and IPOB.” https://dailypost.ng/2021/10/07/biafra-youre-too-small-to-decide-for-igbos-ipob-blasts-southeast-govs-elites/
