The Taraba State Police command on Friday rescued one Alhaji Yakubu Atiku from kidnappers and killed five suspects set to perpetrate the evil act.

The suspects had stormed Alh. Atiku’s home in Garba-Chede, Gassol Local Government Area of the state.
They ran out of luck as police were quick to arrive the scene after being notified.

In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, the police killed five of the attackers, the spokesman of the command, ASP David Misal, confirmed at a news conference on Saturday in Jalingo.

Misal said: “The operatives attached to Bali Division on March 30 at 2300 hrs engaged a group of armed men suspected to be kidnappers and armed robbers.

“The hoodlums on the same date invaded the residence of one Alhaji Yakubu Atiku of Garba-Chede in an attempt to kidnap him. The report was received with swift reaction from our operatives which led to an exchange of fire from both sides. With the superior fire power of our gallant officers, five members of the gang were shot dead while others escaped with bullet wounds”.

He added that one AK47 rifle, one pump action, two single barrel guns, 16 cartridges, three expended 7.62mm ammunition, two expended cartridges and assorted charms were recovered from the suspects.

He assured residents that the police would not relent in its efforts until kidnapping and armed robbery is reduced to the barest minimum.

Misal further appealed to members of the public to always report criminal acts to the police for effective response.

A man and his wife have reportedly died at a railway station after jumping in front of a moving train while hugging each other.

Horrified witnesses said the two leapt off the platform at Doncaster Railway Station in front of an oncoming train shortly after 8:00pm on Tuesday. It is believed they bought travel tickets before they could get past the barriers at the station.

According to the Doncaster Free Press, witnesses said the pair embraced and jumped from the platform at the same time. A British Transport Police spokesperson said:

“Shortly before 8:20pm, officers were called to Doncaster station following reports that two people had been struck by a train. Officers and paramedics were quickly on scene, however a man and woman were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Work is being done to identify the man and woman and to inform their next of kin.

An investigation into how the man and woman came to be on the tracks is underway, however at this time the circumstances are not thought to be suspicious.”

Virgin Trains also confirmed the incident and said trains were cancelled as a result. Writing on the firm’s official Twitter account, a spokesperson said: “My heart is broken for all involved in this tragic incident. Services are returning to normal but so much pain will remain.”

A Trinidad & Tobago millionaire businessman, Sheron Sukhdeo, who was shot dead on the evening of Monday April 26, was cremated on Saturday.

Scores of mourners, including family and friends, flocked the Chaguanas home of the murdered car dealer and real estate agent to pay their last respect.

Embattled community head of Ekpan, Uvwie Council Area of Delta State, Chief Newton Agbofodo, has been sentenced to death by hanging.

Agbofodoh, one of the highest ranking chiefs of Uvwie Kingdom, was arrested on June 17, 2016, and later arraigned in court for crimes bordering on murder.

After being found guilty of all four count charges levelled against him, the Delta State High Court 4, in Asaba, sentenced him to death by hanging.
Charges levelled against him were conspiracy to commit murder, the substantial offence of murder, conspiracy to commit attempted murder and an attempted murder.

Chief Agbofodoh was allegedly linked to series of killings within Ekpan and its environs, including the murder of one Edigbe Ikpesa sometime in Oc­tober 2012. He was also implicated in the Delta Mall robbery/wanton de­struction in January, 2016.

A Gabonese woman has reportedly killed her husband, who was a military officer. She stabbed him to death wednesday night while he was asleep.

According to reports in the country’s local media, the wife was angered by the fact that the deceased secretly fathered a child outside marriage.
The lifeless body of the soldier was retrieved on Thursday and the wife arrested.

The Edo State Ministry of Women Affairs has arrested a woman for allegedly burning the hands of her granddaughter in Benin city, Edo state.

According to the report, the little girl’s was subjected to this horrific and cruel treatment for eating noodles without her grandmother’s express permission.

The suspect allegedly placed the victim’s hands on a gas cooker until they were barbecued.

The attention of the ministry was drawn to the incident, by a neighbour.

The little girl has been taken to the Uniben Teaching Hospital for proper medical attention.

Facebook user Janea Alston-Goggins has taken to the platform to narrate how she was beaten to near death by her fiancé right in the front of her kids.

The woman based New Castle, PA, United States who suffered various degree of injuries after the abuse shared photos of her brutalized face on Facebook.

According to her, she pleaded to no avail for her life in front of her kids and best friend but the man insisted on beating her to death.
Janea revealed that she had to be taken on emergency to the hospital after he was done done beating her and a surgery was done on her immediately to save her life.

Native doctors in Edo State were on Friday told by the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, to revoke the curses and oaths placed on the trafficked victims of human trafficking in the state.

It is alleged that many victims of human trafficking in the state are usually made to swear to oaths and some of their body parts collected as collateral to make them pay back the money used to sponsor them.

After the revocation of curses, the Benin Monarch declared that the trafficked victims were now free from their traffickers and whatever oaths they were placed on.

Oba Ewuare II also placed a curse on human traffickers and those aiding and abetting human trafficking in the state.
He cursed the native doctors who subject victims to oath of secrecies, violators of the order banning Community Development Associations and others whose business is to initiate the sons and daughters of the land into various cult groups.

Those who took part in the swearing exercise were priests from various shrines in the state such as the Ohen Okhuae, Ohen Ovia, Ohen noriyekeogba, Ohen Ake, Ohen Niwuo, Native Doctors, Ohen Sango, Odionwere, Iwueki and the Enigies.

Oba Ewuare II warned those aiding and abetting human trafficking through the use of black magic and subjecting them to the oath of secrecies to desist from the act or face the wrath of the gods.

He declared that those under oath of secrecies have been set free and at liberty to air their views as well as reveal their sponsors without fear of any harm from their sponsors.

The Benin Monarch stated the interest of the palace was to work for the development and progress of the state and urged all his subjects to work towards that direction by doing what is right.

His words, “You native doctors whose business are to subject people to the oath of secrecies and encouraging this evil act on the land, you have to repent, stop doing it. This is not a joking matter and if you do not repent, you have to wait for the repercussion”, he said.

“The palace is not against those practicing the act of native doctors but those who use it to perpetrate evil in the land through aiding and abetting human trafficking in the state.

“We want to use this medium to tell those who are under any oaths of secrecies that they are now free. We revoke the oath today.
“What the Palace stands for is peace and the development of the state. I want to use this medium to tell you that the act of using charms to aid trafficking, the palace seriously frowns at it.

“We want us to join hands together to fight against human trafficking in the land”, he said.
He said there have been positive reports about Edo State and that such positive report must be sustained.

The Oba said the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has pleaded with him to help reduce the spate of human trafficking in the state adding that before now, he has been in the vanguard against human trafficking in the state.

28-year-old McKnight Nyekheya, a football referee, has been arrested Malawi Police in the southern district of Chikwawa for allegedly killing a player in Thyolo.

Chikwawa district police spokesperson Constable Foster Benjamin while confirming the development said Nyekheya is suspected to have hit to death a yet-to-be-identified player of one of the district’s football club, Billiat FC.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Chilengo School Ground in the area of Senior Chief Mphuka during the match between Billiat FC and Chilengo. In that game, which was in a one-one affair, referee Nyekheya disallowed a penalty which prompted Billiat to vent their anger on him.
In the ensuing chaos, the referee escaped and sought refuge in the nearby house.

Billiat players, however, smoked him out in utter frustration.
“The referee picked up a stick and assaulted one player before he vanished into the maize field,” said Constable Benjamin.
The assaulted player is reported to have died on arrival at the hospital.

Following the development, angry villagers and Billiat players descended on the suspect’s home at Makhomo Village and set his house ablaze.
They went on killing all livestock and demolishing the house belonging to the suspect’s parents.

The mob further trekked to the suspect’s business place at Mkhate Trading Centre in Chikwawa and looted items which, among others, include a refrigerator, home theatre, mattress and 4 duvet covers.

Nyekheya turned himself over to Nchalo Police Post before transferred to Chikwawa Police Station.
He is facing a murder charge.

Meanwhile, police are hunting for the suspects who demolished the houses and looted the suspect’s property.
Nyekheya comes from Makhomo Village in the area of Senior Chief Mphuka in Thyolo District.

A Gambian man residing in Wisconsin, United States, was deported back to Africa after more than 20 years in the States.
41-year-old Buba Jabbi was deported Tuesday according to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement statement issued Wednesday.
Jabbi, who was detained February 15 had entered the U.S. in 1995 and overstayed his visa.

A stay of removal had been filed on his behalf but was denied Feb. 27, according to Nicole Alberico, a public affairs officer with ICE.
Jabbi, the father of two daughters ages 5 and 1, was being held at a detention center in Sierra Blanca, Texas.

If necessary, Jabbi’s wife, Katrina Jabbi, a native of Wisconsin Rapids, said she would move her family almost 5,000 miles to Gambia, a nation of about 2 million people that is almost twice the size of Delaware, to be with her husband.

“We have spent many years trying to rectify this situation,” Katrina Jabbi previously said. “I will continue to fight and file waivers if he is deported. I will not be apart from my husband nor allow my children to grow up without their father.”

Katrina Jabbi married Buba Jabbi in 2013, four years after meeting him. The couple has two daughters, Nalia, 5, and Aisha, 1, and they are expecting a third child in October.
Katrina Jabbi said she works part time from home and moved back to Wisconsin Rapids, about 135 miles northwest of Milwaukee, to be closer to her family. Her husband had been working as a truck driver.

Buba Jabbi has not been charged with a crime in Wisconsin and his detention was not the result of a criminal arrest.
He came to the United States in 1995 on a temporary travel visa to attend the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, according to Katrina Jabbi. When he tried to change his status to allow him to stay in the U.S., the paperwork he filed was incorrect and his case was moved into removal proceedings, where he remained for several years.

However, Buba Jabbi was considered “undeportable” because his country would not provide travel documents on his behalf, she said. Instead, he was given orders of supervision, requiring him to report to immigration once a year and obtain work authorization, which he had done for the past 10 years.

Buba Jabbi was at his annual appointment Feb. 15 in Milwaukee with immigration officials when he was detained and told he would be deported, his wife said. The statement from ICE said his travel documents from Gambia had been validated.
Buba Jabbi still has family in Gambia. Despite being separated from him, Katrina Jabbi said she is happy her husband will be able to see his parents for the first time in more than two decades.

Facebook user Queen Ike has taken to the platform to narrate how she survived a fatal accident on her way to Kaduna for a church programme just a week to her birthday.

According to her, the car she was travelling in alongside four others fell off a bridge as the driver was trying to avoid a head-on-collision with an oncoming trailer.She excitedly shared her testimony with her FB friends as she turned a year older.

I have never been in a near death situation soo much as I did last Sunday, just 1 week before my birthday.
Guys, on my way to Kaduna with four other people for a church programme, we were all busy making corrections on the flyer that we had to share at the venue, next thing we heard was tires screeching and our car swerving from left to right. Infront of us was a trailer who had left his lane, swerved into ours and destabilized our driver who then tried to dodge a head on collision.

At that point, our car after many turns, leaped off the bridge and dropped from the top of that bridge down to the river…………..All the while, we were all screaming and MY GOD, that fall was like eternity cause we had no idea where or what we were falling into……..The scariest part was the impact, can’t even explain it……….but GUESS WHAT? Five of us all came out alive. Did I mention we had a generator filled with fuel in the boot of the car? I mean we fell from there, inside the river, see the height!!

The trailer driver even had to go report himself to the police thinking he had killed people, according to him, he didn’t see us coming. Even road safety, when they were informed said they were just coming to pack dead bodies, people who came down to help couldn’t believe we were all safe.

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Jonathan has called out the BBNaija2018 housemates, saying he is ashamed of them.

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha, has revealed that nothing will stop his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, from succeeding him. According to him, Uche has already been “ordained by God” and is supported by 24 out of the 27 local government areas in the state.
Governor Okorocha said this in a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, while reacting to claims that his son-in-law, who is his chief of staff, supervised the assault on the Catholic Archbishop of Owerri, Most Rev. Anthony Obinna, at a funeral in the state over the weekend.
There were reports online that Nwosu had led other APC members to the funeral where they attacked the clergyman who spoke against his political ambition.

This time, it is Uche Nwosu because they have seen that he is the man for 2019 with God on our side. And no amount of blackmail or tricks would change the plan of God on the young man to govern the state. An unidentified young boy was left in a pool of his own blood after his father subjected him to a horrific abuse in Kaduna State.

According to eyewitnesses, the boy who was left with injuries was beaten with a cutlass by his father as a punishment for an undisclosed offence. He has been taken to a hospital where he is currently undergoing treatment, while the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights have been notified of the matter.

A mum-of-two is making thousands from the sale of her breast milk to men around the world.

Rafaela Lamprou gave birth to her son Anjelo seven months ago, and was producing excess milk which she started storing in the freezer until she had no more room for it.

She then came up with the idea of donating to new mothers who had issues producing breastmilk for their babies, then graduated to selling it to men.

So far, Rafaela has handed out over 502 litres of breast milk to strangers in exchange for cash. She has made an impressive $6,000 from her sales to men – and she plans to keep going.
