Career / Re: Have You Ever Been FIRED At Work? Share Your Experience! by LadyELcode: 2:15pm On Mar 08, 2020
I must say I have learnt a whole lot from this thread and yes, I read everything from the 1st page to here .
You can't achieve what you can't conceive so for all the doubting Thomas that do not believe such huge salary is possible, kudos while remaining in your comfort zone. As for me, I'm definitely going to upgrade my skill set within my career path and position for better opportunities and I know they will come.
I also picked interest on freelance work from this thread too like remote jobs, fiverr, etc. I really hope I can find something to comfortably do alongside my regular job.
One day, I too will share my beautiful story here

People that don't know a thing about IT are here rambling around asking if 750k per month is possible. My immediate line manager in my last workplace at Oniru estate in Lekki is earning $2200k per month. One business dev guru is earning $1600k in the same company. Have you converted those to Nigerian naira? The day I discovered he was earning so much for doing things that I can easily do and even more, I started plotting my move away. He outsourced many of the tasks to me and took credits for it including serious emergencies in production systems.

Exactly two months after, I left the company for another where my salary is more than twice their pay.

Let me say that people are earning big time in Nigeria. And to even shock you, some earn big for doing little in private establishments.

In my next job, I will not settle down with 750k per month salary except there are perks that support such base salary.

My sentiments exactly, most times the things people do to earn big are not necessarily exceptional. There will always be someone who can do it as well or even better but lack of proper positioning and skill packaging

Just did mine last Saturday.

Thanks.
When did you receive the mail for Ovd?

i just don't like their filtering system and first come/first serve supposed system. Why put deadline as 21st if they are gonna be doing all these. why not put deadline much earlier to even things out. I might just accept either of my chevron/exxon offers early enough if the uncertainties continue. Wanted them to be fast cos their carbon capture program interests me the most among all the IOCs due to some little operational differences they have. I guess i would wait till sunday considering last week sunday yielded ODVI invites.

i replied you then, would reply again.

Congratulations on your Chevron/Exxon offers. You really must have a way around their recruitment processes. Please what was your course of study in the university?

.

Well, I'll start by saying congratulations to you on your good fortune. Both are great opportunities that others hope and dream for.
I'll advice you to put the following into consideration while making a decision:
1. The career path of your choice: which of them offers what you want, what you are, perhaps, passionate about?
2. Growth: check out how rapidly growth is incurred between the both of them. Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
3. Experience: where would you get the best experience from?
4. Benefits and other opportunities: some companies invest in their employees. Would you be liable to receive world wide trainings? Which offers more exposure?
Have all these in mind while making your decision, I wish you the best

All those people attacking that first guy for saying he got invite for OVD, did you realise that he wasn't the same person that posted the screenshots for 2017?

This is a faceless forum, true, and the guy has a right to decide if he wants to post a screenshot or not. Bullying him to post it doesn't even make sense. Apparently, he was right and some people HAVE actually been invited for OVD.

I had my interview yesterday and the panel was so cool, very friendly, they were cheering me up each min, just like @kevweeezy it wasn't up to 30min, they introduced themselves and asked me to tell them about me, from what I said they now asked me what area I wish to improve myself in, asked me about the task I have been involved in as a team, my role and contribution to the team, next was the challenge I hv ever faced, then to describe a topic I had no prior knowledge of that I have encountered and how I answered, what are my motives, where I wish to be in the 5-10yrs, Why I wish to change from my course of study which is education to accounting, what other things or job interests me,
Guess that's all I can remember, though it was a very free atmosphere I was really stammering throughout, at first I freezes when I entered, my head was blank and was almost crying, what really took in long in there was the time they used to make me comfortable, it was like I was being pampered to talk, all of them where just smiling like they where my elder brother and sisters.
Anyways the key to my success yesterday was prayer, I already told God the atmosphere I wanted and that was exactly what I got. So see you guys at the AC. And success to the ppl waiting for there interview and those still waiting for the invite

Congratulations dear, I wish you the best
