Because of what I know now and the painful regrets I have faced I can never watch a teenage girl give her virginity away to just any guy in the name of love or money unless they are first committed to getting married.

When were you born biko? Were you born yesterday? Don't you know advice from those above you is still wisdom? Or you are afraid that she will turn you down... have you never had a reason to meet guys higher than you for advice..? What if they advice you wrongly. There is safety in seeking counsel before entering into school, marriage, business or any destiny altering thing.


When people come on NL seeking advice or help in a situation is that not the same as mentorship.

Good morning Nairalanders, please don't mind my poor english usage.
I will be concise and more elaborate in my writeup to avoid boring you guys.
I am a young man of 24 years old, since I attained the age of 12, my life has been full of storms, I am not using this medium to solicit for alms, I just need your advice on the way forward as I might give in to what I so much dreaded : which is calling it quit on the struggle and taking what ever heavy blow the cruel fist of life gives.
I have been a brilliant kid from my primary and secondary school days, parents were well to do enough not until I lost my dad, my mum being a house wife couldn't coup anymore.
I started living with relatives, abusive relatives. school became a thing of the past because I have to meet up with their demands, I left them after I couldn't take their inhumane treatments.
I don't know how I managed to finish secondary school, all I knew was I was determined to be somebody in life.
I have done all menial jobs to sustain myself, but I discovered one thing which I am worried about, I dropped out of school this year to hustle because of this but everything seems not working, people has been disappointing me, after meeting a good Samaritan, he would back off half way after rendering help.
Please is this spiritual or is my late dad's brothers in the village after me, I don't travel to the village again because they have seized all our lands.
Have anyone found his or her self in such situation, how did you survive, how did you make it because I am determined to be somebody in life, I need motivation, please share your story, thanks.

Clear your mind from blaming village people.

Get a skill... Learn a good skill for free here on nairaland.

Do some little jobs here and there and gather money and start business with that skill.

You don't need to look to anybody for help. They will just disappoint you.

Lastly. Be very prayerful and pursue wisdom in everything you do. Join a church that teaches practical principles like Covenant Christian Center, you can totally cut off from family by changing your surname.

If you follow these, in 6months your life will change.

Believing there are unexplainable things is a far cry from believing there is a God. I also beleive there are unexplainable things in this life, but i don't invoke God, because i don't have enough evidence to. If you can't explain something, it's ok to say "I don't know"

Everyone has had their experiences, and i'm not trying to dictate to you what it is or isn't, but my main point is not to rush to big conclusions of God or Supernatural, but rather search for a rational answer, and even the lack there off one does not necessarily justify God (again God of Gaps).
Near death Experiences are not a proof of the afterlife. Believe me NDEs (Near death Experiences) have been studied for decades and these experiences all vary from each other greatly. These experiences are all anecdotal and there have been studies that have put them to empirical scientific tests and they fail time and time again. Alot of people have had these De Ja Vu premonitions but they often throw away the hundreds of times they were wrong and find meaning in the few coincidences. I've also had the De ja Vu or "premonitions", and believe me, i want to believe in the supernatural. But i'm not going to make big leaps in logic because i can't explain it. Again, if something happens that i can't explain, then i simply say "I don't know" and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I haven't "shut my mind". I don't make the claim that there is no God, I say I don't believe in him because there is not enough evidence. Pls understand this. I'm not actively trying to disbelieve god the same way you're not actively trying to disbelieve in unicorns. I just don't believe , it's state and not an action. There just isn't just any conclusive evidence yet.
I can't explain the existence of the Universe and i won't try to. But i'm leaning towards scientific explanations because they atleast present logical theories and pieces of evidences.
Yes people have not met me and to them i don't exist, and you know what? that is a logical stance to have. They haven't met me, and so if someone tells them i exist, then they can either say "I don't know" or "i don't believe until tangible evidence is brought. Tangible evidence can be brought forward my existence but can thesame be said for God? Do you understand this? and besides, this is not a parallel analogy to this argument because they know humans exist, so telling them i exist is not far fetched.

I am not bent on making anyone join my unbelief, i want people to think logically. It's actually the other way around. Religious people want others to believe in their belief base on faith alone, and i'm sorry, this is not enough for everyone. Faith alone is not a good foundation for a belief system.
Yes i used to believe. I was born into an evangelical family and had religion spoon fed to me. I went to church, read the bible and prayed daily. But then i got access to the internet (back in 2007) and then got exposed to different ideas and beliefs. I began to discuss with people who challenged the things i believed. When i started really looking for myself, i started seeing the cracks and holes and eventually i became an agnostic/atheist.
"You know there is heaven and hell?" What evidence do you have of these claims? Do you understand my point? Even if these places are real, you have no way to prove this (except anecdotal evidences) and can't expect everyone to believe. If your God is real, he also understands this and knows the evidence that would make someone (like me) believe but withholds it.

This last statement is an example of the ideology many religious people have that actually ticks me off. That i can't live my life with any meaning or purpose because i don't believe in what they do. I try to live my life to the fullest everyday. I have good days and bad days. I have dreams and aspirations. I try to be empathetic and see things from different perspective. I respect my fellow man and bear no ill will to anyone. I do good because i want to not because heaven an hell are hanging around my neck.
