Hello house. @justwise and @FrontPageLawyer, I want to book an appointment for my interview but my nee passport isn't ready yet. Current one expires in August but the booking page requires passport number and the dates are just going anyhow. Can I use my old passport number for the booking? Closest date is 26th July and I should have my new passport by then. Thanks |

Elixir123: Omg ma'am! What a sad news .So sorry, but how come they couldn't find a fetal pole ,I thought you were already in 2nd trimester . God is your strength ma'am.Better days ahead ijn. Thank you ma'am The not seeing fetal pole happened before we relocated to Lagos last month. Found a hospital here but been reluctant to go in for ANC because I didn't want to know. According to LMP, should have been 16 weeks now. But first scan was estimating it to be alot earlier than my LMP date. Finally felt strong enough today after much persuasion to go to the hospital |

Hello house... I didn't announce my EDD before as first scan didn't see fetal pole and they were going to repeat after two weeks. Wanted to be sure before posting. Sadly, I'm out of this particular journey. But I know it is well. Permit me to still stay on the thread sha as it's nice reading everyone's stories and learning.
Congratulations to all the new mummies! God bless all your LOs |

zaynie: The sitzbath bath they warned you about was the hot water / lsteam that was used before. The one I described is warm water.... warm enough to sit in without any kind of pain. The warm water soothes.....the feeling is heavenly when you sit on it. Once the stitches come off, the site is healed already and you only do the sitzbath to relax the muscles around there. Thanks for the clarification Zaynie |

zaynie: This was what I did. Sitzbath: warm water with salt and savlon. Sit so that the site touches the water. You can sit for like 5-10 minutes. Then swipe with cotton wool and savlon to dry up the place. Do the sitzbath like 3ce
Till your episiotomy heals... Then you can chow all you want My friends stitches melted and the tear opened up. When she sent back to hospital, doc said it was the sitz baths... maybe temperature matters |

Laureen007: Hi mamas, I'm 7+2 weeks today. Luckily no ms yet and I have been eating well but I have a funny question to ask... what kind of food did you mamas that have past your first trimester eat? Or mamas still in their first trimester what kind of food are you eating? I am in the U.K. And its either you can't eat this, you can't eat that blah blah... most of the foods I like are said to be not healthy for the baby ayam tired lol. What can I eat? Most times I want to eat out but scared so I don't eat anything that will harm the baby. What exactly can I eat Biko?? Congratulations Laureen007. I think you just try to avoid raw foods and shell fish. Otherwise, you can eat anything you used to i believe. I had a miscarriage after eating crabs at 8 weeks. Started cramping that night, spotting then full blown bleeding Thank God I got pregnant again. Never eating crabs in my life ever again |

Rhemy2013: I use QueensWay hospital at ikota firstgate when am in lag,120k for antenatal registration(it cover all test nd scan till delivery)70k for delivery Nd 200+ for Cs.d list will be given to u as soon as u register buh i use general hospital in sch.u can try d hospital..it's very good. Thank you Rhemy2013. I'll also check them out. I appreciate your help alot. My husbands friend here was ranting about how he had to go and be looking for the most random stuff to buy because his wife was too heavy to do any shopping herself and he felt weird asking other ladies for the type of pads and all. Hence, my interest in the list. Want to see if I can sort it out before I enter 3rd trimester. But it appears they give it upon registering so thats comforting |

Liftedhands: Hello mama welcome here and have a smooth Peggy.
St kisito hospital at jakande first gate will be a good option for you! It's a missionary hospital with awesome reviews (personal) and some mama's here can attest to there professionalism. They are very affordable and their ante natal classes are very educative plus it's very close to you.
Try and check them out and see if you like it, vaginal delivery there is between 30/40k
They will give you a list of all you will need for delivery (you and baby) and if you don't want to use them they have a long list of hospital within and outside lekki for you to choose from and they will write you a referral letter which comes with a free registration at the hospital you eventually pick from their list(both government and private).
Welcome here once more and also welcome to lekki. Sounds really good. Affordable and very close by. I'll definitely check them out. Thanks alot. Lol @ welcome to lekki |

zaynie: Even GH now charge almost 100k for CS if not more than cos in 2012 it was 75k, a friend paid 250k to do this in a private hospital and in 2015 when I had VD, it was around 30k. Once you register you will be given a list. Each hospital have specific items on their list so wait for your hospital's list. Have you started using your folic acid? You don't need to register for antenatal to do that. Eat lots of veggies. Avoid pineapples and unripe pawpaw. Meanwhile identify with your teamies and see how easy it is to make friends on here The last line of your message made me smile Thank you Zaynie. Yeah, I've started taking folic acid. The prices are def higher than the average costs down south. Thanks for sharing. This is my first. Thanks for the tip about the list. I guess that's the first step sha- registering. Trying to eat well too. Already in early second trimester. Such a relief to find a platform like this honestly! |

Hello Old and New Mums in the house,
My questions may have been raised here before but please kindly indulge me. I have just relocated to Lagos with my husband and need to register at a hospital for antenatal care and to have my baby. No friends yet to ask questions so decided to join NL hoping the good mummies on here can help me out.
So here are my questions... please answer me as much as you can I beg of you. I want these to guide my choice of hospital and to help me be prepared. Thank you so much in advance!
How much does it cost roughly to have a baby in general/ private hospitals? Is it all hospitals that will give me a list of things to bring in preparation for labour? What are the items on the list?
Can't think of anything else to ask but please let me know what else I need to consider. Thank you |
