Have you tried kijiji? In addition to contacting those that listed rooms for rent, you can also post a "room wanted" ad with with specifications of the type of accommodation you are after and how much you are willing to pay for rent.

My brother ! You dey hia too. Congratulations again.
iaatmguy:
Quite a long read

Family of 3
2 adults and a 21 month old infant
So we left the house for the airport, a day to our departure, news got to me that we won't be allowed to fly without the e yellow card before then that it was not necessary to have the e yellow card for the yellow fever vaccination, Ha!!!!. We had to go for the vaccination at the nearest port health center, which is Ikeja port health center. It can be done at apapa port, tincan port (second gate)
On getting there we met a mammoth crowd, long story, we paid, took the vaccination and went the next day for our card.
D-day arrived, we had to leave early (7:15) in order for us to get the yellow card. Card received, off to the airport, no time!!!! We had 5 luggage bags, two laptop bags, 2 carry on bags and one baby bag ( who send us message like this??) Quite stressful handling and keeping tabs on that number of bags and winter gears
We got to the airport some minutes to 11 for a 1:40 pm flight, Ethiopian airways tiwa n tiwa ( Nigeria airways by proxy, SMH to our government )

As we land gidigba for MMIA, my FIL got a trolley for us. as we were carting away our bags, the police men at the the door stopped us and asked for their blessings, like say na we God send to give them. Trust my baba iyawo ( FIL ) he is very generous.
We proceeded to shrink wrap our five bags at 1,000 per bag, our bags were slightly overweight, but nothing out of the ordinary, a guy before us had 35kg with the intention of paying for extra luggage, but he was told he has to pay for the extra 2 kg in addition, since 9 kg is the weight limit for additional weight, the staff of ET were quite courteous and nice.
Then the usual "bless your boys" " wetin dey happen now" began to pour in, we sha gave them something as the spirit directed.
We "immigrated" to our boarding gate, upon getting there, hmmm we were so many!!! at a point i thought the flight was FOC.
An hour to departure, business class, families with children were requested to come forward, lucky us, my son was so friendly to everyone with his usual smiling face.
Our aircraft took off according to schedule.
After an hour later, food was served, "chicken or beef" was what brought me back from a slumber due to exhaustion, bread, cranberry, crackers butter and some stuff I have no idea about was served. we chose chicken, their chicken tastes a little weird and their water as well ( like Ibadan water) lol. I took a bottle of wine just to do tasting, Wifey tried to watch a movie, but slept off while watching. I stayed awake to keep watch over our son.

We arrived Addis Ababa some minutes past 6, airport shuttle took us from the plane to the airport, met another crowd from all race, it's already an established fact that ET is a budget airline.
We took off for Toronto, with the usual stopover for refueling like danfo at Dublin. Total flight hour should be 15 hours or there about, the matter tire wrapper, I didn't do the usual stretch and walk because I didn't want to discomfort the person sitting close to us.
We slept, woke, slept ( repeat as much as you want), the anxiety was eased with the screen providing flight info about speed, altitude, location, bearing e.t.c
We arrived Toronto finally!!!
What a much awaited respite. THEN THE DRAMA STARTED!!!!

We did another "migration " to get our documentations done,
There was no queue
CBSA officer noted our declaration card, asked how much we were bringing, then directed us to immigration officers.
I must say, I notice they talk calmly and are very patient.
After immigration, we proceeded to sign our copr and get our Social insurance number. then my son started playing with some French kids, he was so engrossed in the interaction to the point he wanted to go with them, na so the young man start to dey scream when they took their leave. the officers approached us and told us to "comfort him, this is a working environment". TBH I felt embarassed, had to carry him to a secluded area to calm him.
We then went downstairs to claim our bags, P.s please always ask the officers there, there are different carousel, so you might be searching for your bags on a wrong one, my wife asked one of the officials, he directed us to the last one that was after searching on a wrong one.
We went to custom, they asked politely, if we had any list for them, we responded in the affirmative, we were directed to another office, goods to follow list was signed without any questions.
We tried to get to Ethiopia office to get our boarding pass rebooked, hmm may we not be disturbed ( translate in Yoruba to get the real interpretation) with our bags we started going from one level to the other, listening to every one who cared to assist in locating Et office for our boarding pass whether na village people , only God knows
One guy even said" ohh, you can't see them by this time, they must have closed for the day" by 11amhuh thank God we didn't listen to his advise. It got to a point i told madam to stay put and allow me look for the office.
Saw the office in a remote part of level 2. In the course of looking for et office I misplaced my son's passport ( I was so troubled) I tried to retrace my steps, God so kind to us, I found it lying by a door,

After rebooking, air Canada staff told us we couldn't make it for the 2pm flight to Calgary, after pleading with her, she booked us on the next one to Calgary.
The boarding pass dropped off my hand again ( covers face ).
I had to go search for it again, found it beside a vase.
While waiting for our 4 pm flight to Calgary, my wife had forgotten my son's and her winter jacket on level 1, my wife is an EXTREMELY CAREFUL PERSON and meticulous I guess the journey is taking a toll on us.
While waiting for our flight, we glanced on the flight itinerary of air Canada on one of the screens, we saw D40 as the boarding gate for 4pm flight to Calgary and just went on our way. Incidentally our boarding gate on our pass was D45 so we proceeded to D45 to sit, I noticed that at 15 minutes to flight time,we were scanty on the seats and no official came to address us, I suspected something wasn't right.
So I got up and went to D40, I noticed boarding had resumed for 4pm flight to Calgary, how naaa??
I approached an Indian guy and asked, about the flight number, it was the same with ours‍♂‍♂.
I didn't even think twice, i went to bring our load again and a sleepy son with madam to come and queue. even though our boarding gate is different, sebi na the same air Canada to Calgary, all must join.

AGAIN, I DROPPED ONE BOARDING PASS my hands were already weak from carrying upandan, a kind white Lady called my attention to it.
When it got to our turn, I was expecting the official to turn us down due to different boarding gate, but it never happened. Out of curiousty I asked why there was a different number on ours, then he smiled and apologized that that's a mistake. Chai!!!! I felt like crying, so we would have wasted another two hours!!!

Flight to Calgary was eventful, we didn't purchase anything on the flight, not Even water.
Got to Calgary by 6;45
Used airport WiFi to contact my first cousin, we met a man who heard my wife and I communicate in Yoruba, he spoke and approached us, I felt happy for him communicating with us, alas my pick up was around, we had to cut any conversation we were having short. We couldn't exchange contact details.
Got home around 9, had our baths then ate ( not jollof rice like you are expecting) white rice, his daughter prepared for us.
It's been cold , came into a -17c weather, however heater no allow me feel am.
Thanks for reading!

I think it's best to have it. 2 persons I know travelled last week, they asked for the yellow card from one and the other they didnt .
Ajibade105:
Who has traveled lately from Nigeria airport? I had no one can travel out of Nigeria without a yellow card. How true is this?

Good morning Everyone, please I have a question.
I plan to land in Calgary, Alberta and I noticed alot of people would rather stay in SW and NW than in SE and NE. Please seniors, what are your thoughts and advice on this ?
TravelRe: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant Part 2 by ladystone(f): 1:56pm On Jan 22, 2020
Thank you so much. This is very helpful .
stevesegkay:
Hi, ladystone

Although I'm not a Calgary yet but let me try contribute to your enquiry based on guidance I have received from wonderful elders/seniors.

I would suggest you consider Calgary South West/Downtown first for ease of movement/getting public transport to place you may want to go as a newcomer. South East possibly your second best but it depends - some place there are far too.

Calgary North West is not really advisable for a newcomer as it's a new, though fast developing area and it might not be that easy getting public transport to places you need to be.

Calgary North East - nothing to say about this except that I once read that some neighbourhoods there are particularly notorious in a negative sense and newcomers moving around at night in those neighbourhoods?

NB: Experienced Calgarians, please correct me, if any wrong notion in this post

Check page one....here is an extract. You need a reference from all your employers

See sample as asked. You can actually get samples off the internet. There is no fixed sample. Just a specified format from CIC/IRCC. If you had more than one duty in the company, list all of them and state the title, duties and period worked.
