RISHON LEZION Israel (Reuters) - Israeli police on Sunday blocked more than 200 far-right Israeli protesters from rushing guests at a wedding of a Jewish woman and Muslim man as they shouted "death to the Arabs" in a sign of tensions stoked by the Gaza war.

Several dozen police, including members of the force's most elite units, formed human chains to keep the protesters from the wedding hall's gates and chased after many who defied them. Four protesters were arrested, and there were no injuries.

A lawyer for the couple, Maral Malka, 23, and Mahmoud Mansour, 26, both from the Jaffa section of Tel Aviv, had unsuccessfully sought a court order to bar the protest. He obtained backing for police to keep protesters 200 metres (yards) from the wedding hall in the Tel Aviv suburb of Rishon Lezion.

The protest highlighted a rise in tensions between Jewish and Arab citizens of Israel in the past two months amid a monthlong Gaza war, the kidnap and slaying of three Israeli teens in June followed by a revenge choking and torching to death of a Palestinian teen in the Jerusalem area.

A group called Lehava, which organized the wedding demonstration, has harassed Jewish-Arab couples in the past, often citing religious grounds for their objections to intermarriage. But they have rarely protested at the site of a wedding.

The groom told Israel's Channel 2 TV the protesters failed to derail the wedding or dampen its spirit. "We will dance and be merry until the sun comes up. We favor coexistence," he said.

'DEATH TO THE ARABS' THREATS CHANTED

Protesters, many of them young men wearing black shirts, denounced Malka, who was born Jewish and converted to Islam before the wedding, as a "traitor against the Jewish state," and shouted epithets of hatred toward Arabs including "death to the Arabs." They sang a song that urges, "May your village burn down."

A few dozen left-wing Israelis held a counter-protest nearby holding flowers, balloons and a sign that read: "Love conquers all."

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin, sworn in last month to succeed Shimon Peres, criticized the protest as a "cause for outrage and concern" in a message on his Facebook page.

"Such expressions undermine the basis of our coexistence here, in Israel, a country that is both Jewish and democratic," Rivlin, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud bloc, said.

Lehava spokesman and former lawmaker Michael Ben-Ari denounced Jews intermarrying with non-Jews of any denomination as "worse than what Hitler did," alluding to the murder of 6 million Jews across Europe in World War Two.

A surprise wedding guest was Israel's health minister, Yael German, a centrist in Netanyahu's government. She told reporters as she headed inside that she saw the wedding and the protest against it as "an expression of democracy."

Arab citizens make up about 20 percent of Israel's majority Jewish population, and the overwhelming majority of Arabs are Muslims. Rabbinical authorities who oversee most Jewish nuptials in Israel object to intermarriage fearing it will diminish the ranks of the Jewish people.

Many Israeli couples who marry out of their faith do so abroad.

Malka's father, Yoram Malka, said on Israeli television he objected to the wedding, calling it "a very sad event." He said he was angry that his daughter had converted to Islam. Of his now son-in-law, he said, "My problem with him is that he is an Arab."

The Quran clearly forbids venerating and worshiping any object. Yet Mohammad kissed the black stone in direct dis-obedience to the Quran. if you may have observed, the verses i presented (Matthew 7:21-23) are a direct response to your claim:

obviously, according to Jesus, that, you mentioned as quoted in the above line, isn't even enough to win you salvation. Jesus in those verses wasn't referring to "false prophets", but the very people who preach in his name and claim to perform wonders, i.e. practicing Christians. such men abound in Nigeria, and i am sure you can name many of them.

as for having guaranty to win salvation, what Jesus (as) labeled out is exactly what Islam teaches us in practical terms, and those you claim to be associated with satan (i.e. Muslims) happen to be following what Jesus (as) preached, while you follow what Paul preached. it is simply:

ok. we Muslims believe in him, and the claims made by that man in the video is enough evidence for you to know that. as for our differnces with mainstream christianity of modern times, even christian sects differ on certain beliefs regarding Jesus (as), and earlier on, the sects that differed on him sharply were many. most of the differences we have with Christians today were existent among christians in the early days of christianity. christians differed about deifying Jesus (as), his divine "sonship", his alleged crucifixion and resurrection, and even his virgin birth. so dont blame us much. if catholicism thumped one version to be adopted and became mainstream, then it is not because Jesus (as) really preached the version of christianity prevalent today. it is simply because this version was what was adopted by the majority and agreed upon by early church fathers and the many councils they orchestrated to debate, vote and adopt certain beliefs and scriptures and to reject others.

actually, from past posts, these are arguments when taken further can be used to demolish Christian theology deifying Jesus. the arguments at face value are brilliant. i am not however endorsing whether or not this man was truly a muslim who really understood the Quran in the first place. i am saying this not to discredit his claim that he was a muslim, but because his claims clash with Islamic beliefs. for example, he said Mary (as) is described in the Quran as "free from original sin". in the first place, Muslims from all sects and creeds do not believe in the "original sin" as found in Christianity. in Islam, there is nothing as "original sin".

the claim is that Jesus (as) is the "word of God"-that God used His word (Be) to create- so therefore the word was "un-created" and must be God or part of God.

if any Muslim understands the Quran and is faced with this argument, this argument can be used to demolish Christian theology with a single punch, and also shake the faith of each and every Christian from the 1001 denominations and sects of Christianity that keep reproducing and multiplying like bacteria! going through the Quran, every Muslim knows Jesus (as) is the "word" and "spirit" of God because Jesus was created through God's word/command: "Be" and by God blowing His spirit for the flesh to take life. it is Jesus being made through that "word" in the first place that fondly gives him the figurative title of being "word of God". these actions described (i.e. blowing and commanding) are not literal but figurative, as you will shortly see explained. also every Muslim knows that not only Jesus (as),as per the Quran, was made in this manner,i.e. through the word and spirit of God. check this:

Adam was also "God's word" :

"The similitude of Jesus before Allah is as that of Adam; He created him from dust, then said to him: "Be". And he was." (3:59)

Adam was also "God's spirit" :

that aside, both the terms "spirit of God" and "word of God" are figurative as they demonstrate the manner in which these two prophets were created, and the Quran clearly says the similitude of Jesus is as of Adam (as). or else, have you seen a "word" that has a head or hands? it doesn't at all mean that God creating them with His word/spirit so God is sending forth "Himself" to take human form or that Jesus is therefore "God incarnate" as Christianity believes. Jesus being the "word of God" is because the former was created in a supernatural manner through God's command. Jesus is "God's word", but God's word is not Jesus. if God's word is Jesus, then Jesus coming to earth means wherever God is found during that time, God was without His "word" or power to create, i.e. God's word was away on earth!!! and that is indeed fallacious. we are talking here of the same Jesus who is purported in the New Testament to have said: "on my own i can do nothing"! the point i am trying to make by saying that Jesus is "the word of God", but the word of God is not Jesus, is very simple; otherwise, this so called Muslim should show us where the "word of God" is called Jesus (as).

the simple point: if God had willed after He created Jesus to create many more like Jesus, God could have/can still do it through His word/spirit. God's word is not limited or contained only in one being. God's word is not literal nor physical but an abstract concept of God's power to create, which is beyond human comprehension or physical limitations. the power to create (as described through His spirit/word) is part of God's greatness. the word emanating from God and manifesting as Jesus (as) or Adam (as) can still be made by God into many more like Jesus and Adam (as). so this does not qualify Jesus to be divine/god,not exclusive/limited to Jesus (as) and does not vindicate Christians from polytheism when they worship a creature of the Creator, even if that creature was made through the extraordinary/through God's word.

Islamic cleric and leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has said his group would employ legitimate peaceful and legal means to challenge the killing of 35 of its members by the Nigerian military last Friday rather than resort to violence like the extremist Boko Haram sect.

He said although the group was still bitter over the incident, it had accepted the incident as a spiritual test of the group and its leader.

Mr. El-Zakzaky described Islam as a religion of peace and said being a movement of peace, his organisation would never be provoked into taking arms against the Nigerian state and its innocent citizens.

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria is far too peaceful, mature and organised to take the law into its hand to foment trouble, he said.

According to him, rather than resort to violence which could have fatal consequences on the country the group would take its case to the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, and other civl rights bodies for redress.

The organisation will also seek legal redress in court if necessary, the Islamic cleric said.

“We are very angry,” Mr. El-Zakzaky told PREMIUM TIMES in a telephone interview on Wednesday. “Thirty-five members of our organisations were murdered by the military. It was a peaceful procession but they shot at our members unprovoked.

“But in spite of the tragedy, we will remain peaceful. Islam is a religion of peace. And we are organised. We are matured, and nobody can provoke us into violence.”

When asked if his angry members won’t be provoked into descending on the country like the Boko Haram sect, the cleric said his members are aware of examples of past Islamic prophets and leaders who were spiritually tested in various ways but who did not resort to violence or ungodly conducts.

The Boko Haram sect took up arms against the Nigerian state when its leader, Mohammed Yusuf, was extrajudicially murdered by the Nigeria Police.

“So many things like that have happened to great servants of Allah in the past. Imam Khomeini’s (of Iran) sons were also killed, but he never lost focus. We will never lose focus. Why should we be provoked? We don’t attack, we only talk about faith and what we stand for. We are a peaceful people and no one can accuse us of ever instigating violence.”

Members of the sect were on a procession to mark the annual Quds day in Zaria when soldiers reportedly shot at them at the popular PZ roundabout in the city.

The crisis started when the soldiers allegedly tried to disperse the sect, which was denouncing Israeli’s attacks on Gaza.

Mr. Zakzaky’s three biological sons, Mahmud, Ahmad and Hamid as well as 32 other members of the Islamic Movement were shot dead.

Mahmud was a student of Almustapha University, Beirut, Ahmad a Chemical Engineering student of Shenyang University, China and Hamid an Aeronautical Engineering student of Xiang University, also in China.

A fourth son of the cleric, Ali, was shot in the leg. He survived, and is in hospital.

Mr. El-Zakzaky however told PREMIUM TIMES that five days after the incident neither President Goodluck Jonathan nor agents of the Federal Government has made public statements on the matter.

“The government is yet to contact me. As you know the President is yet to make any public statement on the matter. The Minister of Defence is also yet to do that. What has happened has happened. And people have been coming to see me,” he said.

He explained that his group was on a peaceful procession that day and did not in anyway provoke the soldiers.

However, Defence spokesman, Chris Olukolade, a major general said the military would investigate the matter to establish who was wrong.

He said soldiers do not take delight in killing anybody.

Mr. Olukolade added, “The people from within that crowd shot at soldiers. We don’t want to be drawn into any controversy. We are interested in ascertaining what really happened.”

The defence spokesperson however rejected Mr. El-Zakzaky’s claim that the military and the government had not reached out to him.

“On the day of the incident, the officers in Zaria met him, had discussions with him and even exchanged telephone numbers with him,” Mr. Olukolade said. “And we have since said we need to investigate what really happened that day so we know how to proceed.”

When contacted, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Reuben Abati, said it was not true that the federal government had not contacted Mr. El-Zakzaky.

“That’s not true,” Mr. Abati said. “The incident occured on Friday. The National Security Adviser contacted him on Saturday and condoled him. He also assured him that the incident would be thoroughly investigated.

“The Chief of Army Staff has also initiated investigation into the incident.”

The CAN President Ayo Oritsejafor, in a telephone call extended the association’s sincere condolence and sympathy over the murder, which he described as unfortunate.

(Lagos, 26/07/2014) The Muslim Public Affairs Centre (MPAC) today condemned the Nigerian military's deadly use of force against pro-Palestinian protesters as they staged a march in Zaria, Kaduna State, one of the states in the Northern Nigeria where they held their annual Al-Quds Day celebration. While the street marched went without incidents in others states, 30 members of the Shiite sect were reportedly killed in Kaduna State, including 3 children of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic sect. Many more have been injured.

MPAC views the gruesome killing of these young men and women and the unwarranted use of extreme force against peaceful protesters as a clear abuse of power and violation of the fundamental rights of the sect members. There is no justification for this type of violence under any circumstance and it is the responsibility of the state to protect all of its citizens, regardless of religious affiliation and support.

The plight of the Palestinian people is one of the most enduring human rights struggles in modern times. For more than seven decades, Palestinians have endured continuous suffering at the hands of Israel, with the full backing and supports of the United States of America which has acted immorally to strengthen the brutality of the Israeli government, and its racist policies.

The Nigerian people should be allowed to exercise free speech and protest in the name of the democracy we made significant sacrifices to enthrone, and they should be able to do this without suffering from a culture of violence that seems to be pervasive in the military profession in the country. As in similar cases, MPAC calls on the military to immediately halt attacks against law-abiding citizens and work with all parties to ensure a constructive way forward that will achieve the envisioned peace in our collective fight against terrorism.

A failure of the Nigerian armed forces to abide by its own rules of engagement, the religious profiling and arrest of Muslims and the constant harassment of Muslims being reported across the country only further undermines the Nigerian government's claims that genuine war is being waged in the pursuit of peace, freedom and democracy for all people. In the current climate of our national and private security concerns, the Nigerian armed forces need to self-reflect on how they view human rights of citizens and how they train our armed personnel to view Nigerians, their lives and rights.

As the Palestinians continue to struggle to remove the shackles of oppression and injustice on them, they should be rest assured that Nigerians are willing to amplify their voice, just as we did against South Africa's apartheid. As Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. once stated, "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere", so we cannot afford to be bystanders anymore.

Conscientious Nigerians, Muslims and non-Muslims, are all invited to share their experiences of what freedom and boundless compassion mean and voice their support for the Palestinians whose only aspiration to have human dignity extended to them. As Nelson Mandela said at the 1997 edition of The International Day Of Solidarity With The Palestinian People, 'We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians; without the resolution of conflicts in East Timor, the Sudan and other parts of the world'

Late Mandela's political achievements in South Africa took place within the context of an internationalism that always urged us to make connections among freedom struggles. Almost two decades after he made the important statement, we have now inherited the last legacy of those solidarity- the Palestinian struggle. The East-Timorese and South Sudanese are now free, and our legacy should be a solidarity across faiths and borders, that will produce hope and freedom for the Palestinians.

In the final days of this blessed month of Ramadan, MPAC remembers the souls of the victims of the gruesome killings in our prayers, and we pray for the quick and full recovery of their injured and traumatized colleagues. Press release: NIGERIA - More army shooting of Zakzaky supporters today

Further to the shootings and killing of pro-Palestinian protesters at yesterday’s Al-Quds Day march in Zaria, and the subsequent killings in custody of protestors, it is reported that the army raided the Hussainiyyah Baqiyyatullah Islamic Centre affiliated to the Islamic Movement and opened fire killing 3, and injuring 7. The centre where where some of the injured from yesterday’s massacre (photos here http://www.ihrc.org.uk/multimedia/pictures/view/120) were sheltering, as well as where some of released bodies of those killed were being prepared for burial.

This adds to yesterday’s death toll. Among those killed were 3 sons of the Islamic Movement’s leader, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-zakzaky. Killed at the demonstration was Syed Mahmoud, whilst the two other brothers Syed Ahmed and Syed Hameed, were taken into custody with their brother Syed Ali. All three were shot and only Ali appears to have survived.

Whilst the reports from yesterday’s massacre indicated that the troops involved were from the Sabon Gari barracks, those in charge there are claiming that the troops involved were in fact sent from Abuja and were not commanded from the locale.

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria is not an armed movement. It has organised peaceful pro-Palestinian demonstrations on annual basis for over 33 years across Nigeria and particularly in the state of Kaduna.

“The Goodluck - Nethanyahu co-operation is resulting in massacres beyond Gaza’s borders. The blood of these young men and women killed in Nigeria is equally on the hands of both men and regimes.”

Demonstrations and vigils protesting recent events in Nigeria are planned in various cities world-wide.

The organisation of the World Assembly of Ahlul-Bayt has sent a condolence letter to the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, over the killings of tens of people, including his three children, during an attack on the International Quds Day Procession, after its termination In Zaria by Nigerian Soldiers.

The letter dated the 26th of July 2014 and signed by its General Secretary, Muhammad Hasan Akhtariy, states that:

'the News of the death of your children together with some people who offered their lives for the sake of Allah and for the support of the Palestinian cause in a peaceful procession answering the call of late Imam Khoemini (QS) and Imam Khamenei has reached us in deep sorrow and anguish.'

It further says:

'We, the members of Ahul-Bayt World Assembly have therefore extend our condolences to the long awaited Imam(AJ) and to Your eminence ( Sheikh Zakzaky), the family of the martyrs and to the Muslims in Nigeria on this great calamity and at the same time we condemn the barbaric act of killing innocent Muslim souls and those killed brutally in peaceful demonstrations ...'

The Letter further states 'We congratulate those killed for attaining martyrdom and as for those who committed the killing to them will be degradation, misery and grief for ever"

The letter called on the Nigerian government to bring the perpetrators to book:

"We call on Nigerian government to arrest those responsible for the aggression and prosecute them according to the law in order to console the families of the martyrs, as well as the general public."

In the end the letter, they prayed for Almighty Allah to give the families the fortitude to bear the loss, and abode in the Garden of Bliss with the Prophet and his pure progeny.

Bloody Quds Day: Soldiers Killed 15, Among Them 3 Children of Sheikh Zakzaky

Friday 25-07-14 is a sad day, akin to a black Friday, in which some security agents of the federal republic of Nigeria, soldiers by the khaki they wore, gunned down, as at the time of writing this press release, 15 Innocent fasting Muslim brothers,

who were peacefully voicing their discontent with the unfortunate massacre of Palestinians by Israel. Zaria residents are a witness to the peaceful nature of the procession which took off from Sabon Gari Jumaat mosque up to its termination point at Kofar Doka, Zaria City.

Nobody was molested let alone his property. Infact the leader of the procession was delivering his speech, when some soldiers attacked the participants of the procession who were at PZ Junction in Zaria.In the ensuing melee, 15 people were killed by the soldiers, 40 were shot and now receiving treatment. And among the killed is a Muslim Sister together with her child on her back and three sons of Shaikh Zakzaky, Mahmud Ibraheem Zakzaky who was shot died on the spot and Ahmad Ibraheem Zakzaky and Hameed Ibraheem Zakzaky were brutally killed when in the custody of the soldiers in Barrack after they took them away. Also among those shot by the soldiers are two Muslim sisters. Two of the 3 children of Sheikh Zakzaky in custody of the Nigerian army were killed namely Ahmad and Hameed while the fate of Ali is not yet known.

We vehemently condemn this vicious atrocity committed by the soldiers on us. Why should we be attacked? Whom did we provoke during the peaceful procession? Who authorised this attack? Who participated in the attack among the soldiers? These are some of the questions the security operatives in the state need to answer us and the public.

Also we demand the unconditional release of Sheikh Zakzaky's child in soldiers custody and other Muslim brothers they might be holding. And should anything happen to them, we will hold the authorities responsible! This is not the first peaceful procession carried out by Muslim brothers in Zaria. In fact due to its peaceful nature residents in Zaria don't consider it as an unusual event that calls for caution. Another proof of the peaceful nature of the procession is the fact that it was staged today in Kaduna, Kano, Sokoto, Katsina, Potiskum, Jos, Bauchi, Gombe, and many other towns in Northern Nigeria and all ended peacefully. So why should the one in Zaria be an exception? The authorities should explain. The casualty figures might increase, God willing we will keep the public informed of the Transgressor in Nigeria.

After the “Islamic State” (IS) issued a threat that all Christians in Mosul must convert, die, or flee, most chose the final option and escaped IS held territory. Heading towards the southern region of Iraq, which is believed to be relatively safe, the Christian community was met with offers of safe haven in the cities of Najaf and Karbala, which house some of the holiest shrines of Shia Islam.

In a statement earlier this week, the shrine of Imam Ali announced that “it is ready to host the Christian families who departed their houses in fear of being killed by what is so called the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant.” The deputy secretary-general of the Holy Shrine, Zuhair Shurba, told IraqiNews.com “The Holy Shrine can host many Christian families and provide them all their basic needs.”

Reportedly, the offer is also available to Sunnis, Kurds and all other Iraqis fleeing violence at the hands of ISIS. Following the announcements, the Iraqi city of Basra also opened its facilities to displaced Christians, and is reportedly hosting approximately 100 families from surrounding regions.

The shrine is the site of the final resting place of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib, son-in-law of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. According to Sunni belief, Imam Ali served as the fourth and final “righteously guided” Caliph; Shias hold him to be the true successor to the Prophet.

Also inviting refugees is the nearby city of Karbala, home to the shrines of Imam Husain and Abul Fadhl Abbas, two sons of Imam Ali who served as important historical leaders.

Many took to social media to discuss the situation:

Twitter user ‏@Yusr_ wrote “Friends in Karbala say they are staying with relatives and have given up their own homes for Mosul families.

A woman identifying herself as “Mrs Jawad” with the Twitter handle @iraqi_mind, echoed the sentiment, writing “The Road from #najaf to #Karbala is flooding with displaced refugees now using shelter that was built for the visitors of #Arbaeen and #NO2ISIS.

Accompanying pictures showcased food and rations supply depots distributing supplies to incoming refugees.

Many of the Muslim families who are hosting displaced Christians speak happily of the experience, recounting the historical story of a band of Muslims, led by the brother of Imam Ali, Jaffar ibn Abu Talib, finding safe haven in Christian controlled Abyssinia.Christianity is mentioned several times in the Quran, often times in praiseworthy circumstances, explaining some of the positive sentiment in this circumstance.

“Surely those who believe, and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabians — whoever believes in God and the Last Day and does good, they shall have their reward from their Lord. And there will be no fear for them, nor shall they grieve,” Chapter 2, Verse 62 of the Quran says.

“…and nearest among them in love to the believers will you find those who say, Another citation in Chapter 5, Verse 82 says, “ ‘We are Christians,’ because amongst these are men devoted to learning and men who have renounced the world, and they are not arrogant.”

i would to let you know that Islam has never been a religion of intolerance, bitterness, isolation and hatred. look at these beautiful ayahs:

"And had your Lord willed, those on earth would have believed - all of them entirely. Then, [O Muhammad], would you compel the people in order that they become believers?" (10:99)

so please i do not see how in the name of Islam you want to oppose living alongside other religions when it clear that Allah (swt) Himself has allowed mankind the choice to believe or disbelieve, and He has allowed mankind to choose without compulsion. "there is no compulsion in religion" (2:256). "let those who will believe and let those who will disbelieve" (18:29). "Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion." (109:6).

furthermore, the Holy Quran does recognize churches and synagogues as places where the name of Allah (swt) is recited/remembered:

"Permission [to fight] has been given to those who are being fought, because they were wronged. And indeed, Allah is competent to give them victory.[They are] those who have been evicted from their homes without right - only because they say, "Our Lord is Allah." And were it not that Allah checks the people, some by means of others, there would have been demolished monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques in which the name of Allah is much mentioned. And Allah will surely support those who support Him. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might." (22:39-40)

1500 year-old ‘ Syriac ‘ Bible found in Ankara, Turkey : Vatican in shock !

Ancient Bible in Aramaic dialected Syriac rediscovered in Turkey

The relic was ‘rediscovered’ in the depositum of Ankaran Justice Palace, the ancient version of bible is believed to be written in Syriac, a dialect of the native language of Jesus.

Ankara / Turkey – The bible was already in custody of Turkish authorities after having been seized in 2000 in an operation in Mediterranean area in Turkey. The gang of smugglers had been charged with smuggling antiquities, illegal excavations and the possession of explosives and went to trial. Turkish police testified in a court hearing they believe the manuscript in the bible could be about 1500 to 2000 years old.After waiting eight years in Ankara the ancient bible is being transferred to the Ankaran Ethnography Museum with a police escort.

The bible, whose copies are valued around 3-4 Mil. Dollars had been transferred to Ankara for safety reasons, since no owners of the ancient relic could be found.

The manuscript carries excerpts of the Bible written in gold lettering on leather and loosely strung together, with lines of Syriac script with Aramaic dialect. Turkish authorities express the bible is a cultural asset and should be protected for being worthy of a museum.

Ancient Bible in Aramaic dialected Syriac rediscovered in Turkey

Syriac is a dialect of Aramaic – the native language of Jesus – once spoken across much of the Middle East and Central Asia. It is used wherever there are Syrian Christians and still survives in the Syrian Orthodox Church in India and a village in the vicinity of Syrian capital Damascus. Aramaic is also still used in religious rituals of Maronite Christians in Cyprus.

Experts were however divided over the provenance of the manuscript, and whether it was an original, which would render it priceless, or a fake. Other questions surround the discovery of the ancient bible, whether the smugglers had had other copies of the relic or had smuggled them from Turkey.

Vatican eyes the faith of the ancient relic

The Vatican reportedly placed an official request to examine the scripture, which was written on pages made of animal hide in the Aramaic language using the Syriac alphabet.

The copy of the ancient Bible is valued as high as 40 million Turkish Liras ( 28 Mil. Dollars)
