I uses a CRV 97 which i bought here on Nairaland and I must confess that the ride is wonderful. It is very economical to maintain because despite using it to travel from Lagos to Calabar so many times, the car is still bam. My only advice is that if you are not a careful driver, pls this car is not for you because it moves very fast and is not really great @ bendings(corners). Aside this, you will like the ride. |

Ok. Good for him. |
cont'd My eyes just keep wandering from one poster to the other while my heart is pumping x1.5 faster. LA: have your ID sir. ME: Ok, How much I my going to pay for the tests? LA: No sir, you are under NHIS and you are not to pay for those things covered by the scheme. ME: Good, so how long will it take to have the results? LA: All should be ready under 24Hrs sir. ME: Ok, so what is next? LA: Please take this to that room over there. And so she gave me a kind of receipt that she has written on, I wanted to read those things she wrote on the paper but something in me just tell me 'does it matter?' and she was actually looking at me as I approach the room. The room was labelled ' SAMPLE COLLECTION ROOM'. Fortunately for me on entry, the guy that was to attend to me is someone I have met many times at the football viewing centre nearby. I could remember him being an Arsenal fan and myself, a Barcelona fan so we have had couple of arguments while sipping Beer and Asun(roasted meat). ME: Haha, na you dey here? I will call him Arsenal fan(AF) because even now I dont know his name. AF: Ha bros na here I dey o. ME: Ok, how work now? AF: fine o. we dey push am small small, but e no easy. ME: I know because na so e no easy for Arsenal for Nou camp. AF: LOL, bros you don come again o. (He motioned me to sit on the chair apparently meant for patients/costumers which I gently obliged). ME: Na so now but make i talk wetin bring me come here AF: Ok ME: good, dem say make I give you this paper. I gave him the piece of paper and he perused it and sprang into action. He brought out a tourniquet(I know this courtesy first aid course I had in one of numerous safety courses) and before I could say Jack Robinson, my blood sample is already inside one small tube. He placed small cotton wool on the pierced skin and asked that I hold it in place with my left hand. ME: That other lady said I should come for the result in 24Hrs time. AF: Hmmm. Yes or you want it faster? ME: Sure, I can wait if it can be done now now self. AF: hmmm If you can wait for like 2hrs I should be able to do something because I will leave the blood to settle. ME: cuts in, you mean the blood will separate itself? AF: Yeah, it will and in fact it is the serum(whatever) that I will use in carrying out the tests. ME: Ok, I better wait because if I go, I no go fit sleep for house. AF: Laughs. Ok you can go and sit in the waiting room. ME: Ok, I will be waiting. I left the average sized room and managed to sit on one of the white plastic chairs in the waiting room which happens to be where the lady attendant desk was. I started to reflect about my life, I thought about the good, the bad and the ugly part of me.I thought about all the struggling and hustling while in school and even while working I was still busy doing other professional exams and now when level don dey level small small. Kai, If I go get Hiv, na real fvck-up be that oooooo. By the time I became conscious, I found myself sweating despite being in and airconditioned room. I brought out my phone and opened my facebook account. I saw the faces of my family/friends and their posts and what I stand to lose became more apparent.I knew I needed a walk so as to lighting up my mood a bit. I walked out without saying a word to anyone. |

Having heard/read a lot about Hiv/Aids and other diseases, I just zeroed my mind and walk into the hospital(my place of work official clinic). I asked to be directed to the laboratory unit and before long I was in front of this beautiful lady. She had on her a snow white overall and with my 'third eye', I could tell that she is blessed with big manchester. But I am here for serious business and so here is our conversations: ME: 'Good morning' Lab Attendant(LA for short): good morning sir ME: How are u doing? LA: fine, how can I help u sir? ME: Yeah! I want to do test. LA: ok, which of the test sir? ME: Hun! H hi vee, Hepatitis, Typhoid, Malaria in fact gbogbo e, gbogbo e. LA: Laughs; ok sir, can I have your ID? ME: Sure. I gave her my ID and she opened a kind of register book and start to write. As she was writing, I looked around and saw various posters and calenders with pictures and text to either warn or alert the reader on different types of diseases and ailments. To be continued |

SUN CITY CENTER — The condo smelled awful. Carol Kingsbury and her sister expected that. Ten months after her sister's friend died and later was cremated, a court gave the women permission to enter his retirement condo and get his final affairs in order. Allan Dunn, who committed suicide at 86, had told neighbors his wife was in a nursing home. But when the sisters went into his fetid apartment Tuesday afternoon, Kingsbury made a gruesome discovery: a body in a chest freezer on the porch. Investigators believe it could be Dunn's wife, Margaret, and that he kept her death secret more than a decade so he could collect her benefits. "He never gave any indication that something like that was going on," Kingsbury said. "We had no hint or anything that he was capable of doing that." Hillsborough County investigators theorize the woman died in 2000 of natural causes. The body is that of a 78- to 80-year-old woman, and the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner's Office has not yet positively identified her. Margaret Dunn purchased the condo at 201 Kings Blvd., Unit A23, in 1994, property records show. Five years later, Allan Dunn was named guardian of his wife and assumed possession of all her property and income, records show. Neighbors agree Allan Dunn wasn't a favorite around the complex. He seldom attended condo meetings or social events. Some say they haven't seen Margaret in a decade. "She was a lovely lady, very educated," said Marilyn Gordon, who has lived in the complex since 1981. Gordon said when neighbors stopped seeing Margaret, they were told she was moved to a nursing home up North. A former condo association president also was concerned for Margaret and looked into Dunn's story, said Jack Goth, the current association president. But he hadn't found an indication of foul play. Kingsbury said her sister, Ellen Miller, befriended the lonely older man who didn't drive and needed rides to appointments. "He said he didn't have any family and that he was from Canada," she recalled. Dunn was obstinate. He didn't believe in taxes. He hated car insurance. "He was just a very anti-establishment-type person," Kingsbury said. "He just tried to buck the system." The attitude won him few fans among neighbors. But Kingsbury also knew him as the kindhearted man her sister brought to a family Thanksgiving. After his death, Ellen Miller went to court and was appointed May 16 as Dunn's personal representative. She was ordered to administer his property and pay his debts, court records show. There had been no funeral or memorial service. Miller had her friend cremated, Kingsbury said. In the two years she knew him, Kingsbury, 57, a hospice nurse, never saw any signs of serious depression. She said Dunn shot himself Aug. 4, 2010. Another act she can't explain. Tuesday they expected the home to smell because of rotted food and remnants of the suicide left festering inside since the electricity was turned off in November, she said. "When the electricity is turned off, everyone knows you open the appliances," she explained. Kingsbury shielded her sister from seeing the remains she discovered. "You don't know anybody," Kingsbury said. "There was no way of knowing he was going to hurt himself. There was no way of knowing he could do this." |
