HND/BSc slots are majorly for politicians and connected folks, so merit play little or no role.
I hold OND & BSc, but my brother I applied with my ND then since I don't get connect or politicians to help me with BSc

My permutation was if truly they use merit, my ND distinction should give me an edge and if eventually I make it to the final list, I can find my way with my BSc because by then I won't be an outsider.

If you're average then u can do it. As long as ure good in secondary to A-level maths, the ure good to go.
It's not difficult if you give it a trial. But there situations where even experienced maths tutors can't answer a question and we'll send it to our group where it'll be brain stormed and you'll probably get ideas on how to solve that question.
