PoliticsBuhari Youth Organisation Celebrate PMB Presidential Election Victory by Lamarking(op): 11:37pm On Mar 03, 2019
The Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), Lagos State Chapter on Sunday organised a victory party to celebrate the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The State Coordinator of BYO, Mr Abdulwaheed Odunuga, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the party that the celebration was to appreciate and thank Lagos electorate for voting Buhari.

NAN reports that the celebration tagged Appreciation 2019: Thank You for Voting Buhari and His Team had in attendance members of BYO across the state and many residents.

Odunuga said that Nigerians had spoken, especially Lagos electorate, saying that Buharis re-election was a renewed call to service for the President and his team.

The BYO coordinator said: The purpose of this party is to say thank you to Lagosians and Nigerians and also to appreciate them. It is also to tell the people that this government needs our support.

The people have indeed showed the love they have for President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo by re-electing them. We are motivated by this overwhelming support of Lagosians.

We thank the youth, women and others who cast their votes in support of Buhari on Feb. 23. We would appeal to them to do it again on March 9 when we shall be voting in Governorship and House of Assembly Elections.

According to him, residents must be appreciated so as to get more support for APC candidates in the upcoming elections.

He urged residents to vote Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the APC Governorship Candidate and all candidates of APC for State Assembly Elections on Saturday.

Odunuga, who noted that the turnout of voters on Feb. 23, elections was not impressive at all, urged eligible voters to troop out to vote for APC candidates in the upcoming elections.

It was very sad that a lot of our youths were playing football on the streets when the elections were ongoing, showing apathy to matter that had to do with their future, he said.

BusinessAhmed Sule Open Letter To Theresa May | See Details Here by Lamarking(op): 10:47pm On Mar 03, 2019
Rt Hon Theresa May

10 Downing Street

London

SW1A 2AA

Dear Prime Minister Theresa May,

Re: International Court of Justice Ruling on Chagos Island

Let me begin by commending you for your tenacity. Despite everything done to unsettle you during the Brexit negotiations, you have stood your ground. Surely, this "Lady is not for turning." Following the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling a couple of days that U.K. should hand the Chagos Island back to Mauritius, I am compelled to write this letter to encourage you not to give in.

It is absolutely ridiculous for the ICJ to declare our occupation of the remote Indian Ocean archipelago illegal. How dare they question us?  We were right to seize the Island and give it to the USA to use as a military base. In my opinion, it was a fair exchange with the AmeriKKKans. We "swept and sanitised" the Island by trading the black "Tarzans or Men Fridays" in exchange for an $11 million discount for weapons of mass destruction. Those who accuse the UKkk of committing crimes against humanity should get a life. We only forced women and children to sleep on a cargo of bird fertiliser, then dumped them in the Seychelles, where they were held in prison cells, and then shipped onto Mauritius, where they were taken to a derelict housing estate with no water or electricity. Out of the 2,000 people we kidnapped, only 26 families died from brutal poverty and 9 from suicide besides the hundreds who died of a broken heart. Why do we have to feel guilty for what we did? Hasn't this been offset with our past good deeds like the Amritsar massacre, exacerbating the Irish Famine, partitioning India, building the Boer and Kenyan concentration camps, starving 4 million Bengali’s to death, exterminating the indigenous population of Australia and kidnapping tens of millions of Africans and making them slaves?

Prime Minister, you must expose the bias in the composition of the judges who gave the ICJ ruling. I understand that the President of the ICJ is Somali and out of the 14 judges involved in the case, the only judge who supported our cause was an AmeriKKKan. This is reverse racism. We need to revamp the ICJ as we can’t continue to allow people from third world countries to stop the British Imperial Project. We should liaise with the USA to ensure that the President of the ICJ is from Europe and the Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is an AmeriKKKan citizen. If such arrangement works with the IMF and World Bank, I see no reason why it can’t work for the ICJ and the ICC. I also understand that the ruling has been referred back to the UN General Assembly where it will be debated.  May I suggest we once again invoke the Royal Prerogative so that we can even bypass the UN? If this fails, can we use our UN veto?

CareerNigeria Police Salary Structure by Lamarking(op): 11:19am On Jan 30, 2019
Over the years, there have always been a clarion call on the need to boost the salary structure of the Nigeria Police. Pundits believe that when the salary structure of the law enforcement agency is increased, it will boost their moral thereby making them active in their service to people and the nation.

An average Nigeria Police was seen as a potential enemy such that the addage 'The police is your friend' was simply ironic.

The Police had an imaginery ₦20 tag which made taxi drivers their favorite. Nigerians believed that the police were the most corrupt sector in Nigeria at some point and this sparked a whole lot of controversies.

With this said, let delve into the history of the Nigeria Police.

History Of The Nigeria Police
Nigeria Police Force was first established in 1820. The first person to have the highest rank in all the police is commissioner general colonel KK. In 1879 a 1,200-member armed paramilitary Hausa Constabulary was formed. In 1896 the Lagos Police was established. A similar force, the Niger Coast Constabulary, was formed in Calabar in 1894 under the newly proclaimed Niger Coast Protectorate. In the north, the Royal Niger Company set up the Royal Niger Company Constabulary in 1888 with headquarters.

When the protectorates of Northern and Southern Nigeria were proclaimed in the early 1900s, part of the Royal Niger Company Constabulary became the Northern Nigeria Police, and part of the Niger Coast Constabulary became the Southern Nigeria Police. During the colonial period, most police were associated with local governments (native authorities). In the 1960s, under the First Republic, these forces were first regionalised and then nationalised.

The NPF performed conventional police functions and was responsible for internal security generally; for supporting the prison, immigration, and customs services; and for performing military duties within or outside Nigeria as directed. Plans were announced in mid-1980 to expand the force to 200,000. By 1983, according to the federal budget, the strength of the NPF was almost 152,000, but other sources estimated it to be between 20,000 and 80,000.

Reportedly, there were more than 1,300 police stations nationwide. Police officers were not usually armed but were issued weapons when required for specific missions or circumstances. They were often deployed throughout the country, but in 1989 Babangida announced that a larger number of officers would be posted to their native areas to facilitate police- community relations

The Current Nigeria Police
The Nigeria Police Force had it's name changed to the Nigerian Police. It is the principal law enforcement agency in Nigeria with a staff strength of about 371,800. There are currently plans to increase the force to 650,000, adding 280,000 new recruits to the existing 370,000. The NPF is a very large organization consisting of 36 State commands grouped into 12 zones and 7 administrative organs. The agency is currently headed by IGP Adamu Muhammed.

The Nigeria Police Salary Structure
Below is an overview of the revised Nigeria police Salary Structure;

Inspector General of Police (I-G) | ₦3.3 million annually as rent subsidy

TravelList Of 10 Most Dangerous Roads Around The World by Lamarking(op): 9:03am On Jan 30, 2019
Roads have been essential part of our everyday lives as they provide a means for safer and more efficient movement of travel, but as you will see in a moment, this is not always the case.

When we talk about roads and danger, they always seem to have a co-relation but in this article, we will be looking at a whole new level kind of danger associated with roads. A dangerous road to some people may just be an ordinary road with many potholes or probably many accidents as a result of maybe poor construction.

While some of the roads on our list are heavily traveled thoroughfares, others are remote, winding, and narrow.  A good number of people die in the process of challenging these deadly roads/highways;

North Yungas Road, Bolivia

Commonly referred to as the  'Road of Death', 'Grove's Road', 'Road of Fate' the North Yungas Road in Bolivia is said to be the most dangerous road in the world.

One estimate is that 200-300 travelers are killed yearly along the road, or one vehicle every two weeks. The road moreover includes Christian crosses marking many of the spots where such vehicles have fallen.

The road was built in the 1930s during the Chaco War by Paraguayan prisoners.  It is one of the few routes that connects the Amazon rainforest region of northern Bolivia, or Yungas, to its capital city. However, an alternative, much safer, road connecting La Paz to Coroico is nearing completion.

On July 24, 1983, a bus veered off the Yungas Road and into a canyon, killing more than 100 passengers in what is said to be Bolivia's worst road accident

Zoji La

Zoji La is a high mountain pass in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, located on National Highway 1 between Srinagar and Leh in the western section of the Himalayan mountain range. It separates Kashmir Valley to its west from Dras Valley to its northeast.

Zojila provides a vital link between Ladakh and Kashmir and many take the risk of using this very unstable and high altitude pass everyday. It runs at an elevation of approximately 3,528m, and is the second highest pass in the Himalayan mountain range. It is often closed during winter, though the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is working to extend traffic to most parts of the year.

In June 2018, 4 persons were killed, while another was injured in road accident.

Officials said accident occurred in the evening, when a car skidded off the road and fell into a gorge at Zojila pass along Srinagar Leh highway

[divider style="solid" top="20" bottom="20"]

Nanga Parbat Pass, Pakistan

Locally known as Diamer, Nanga Parbat is the ninth highest mountain in the world at 8,126 metres (26,660 ft) above sea level. This road is situated at the base of Pakistan’s Nanga Parbat mountain. This is a great photo spot for nature lovers. But, getting to Joot (or 'Fairy Meadows') is a huge risk that prevents many from enjoying the view.

The most dangerous part of the road up to Fairy Meadows involves a narrow 6-mile ascend on an unpaved and uneven road. There are no barriers to prevent a vehicle from falling off the cliff.

Negotiating this road is definitely not for the faint of heart. If you plan on going up, drive very slowly and do not go up with anything bigger than a jeep; the road simply isn’t big enough.

Stelvio Pass Road, Italy

The Stelvio Pass is a mountain pass in northern Italy bordering Switzerland at an elevation of 2,757 m (9,045 ft) above sea level. It is the highest paved mountain pass in the Eastern Alps, and the second highest in the Alps, 13 m (43 ft) below France's Col de l'Iseran.

Each year on the last Saturday of August or first Saturday of September the Stelvio National Park administration organizes the Stelvio Bike Day. On that day the roads from Bormio and Prad to the pass, as well as the road from Santa Maria Val Müstair to the Umbrail Pass are closed to all traffic except for bicycles.

Politics2019 Elections | Police Commences Prosecution Of People Making Hate Speech by Lamarking(op): 7:27am On Jan 30, 2019
Reports has it that the Kaduna police command has commenced the prosecution of those alleged to have engaged in hate speeches during campaigns. This was made known by the Commissioner, Mallam Ahmad AbdurRahman, while briefing the visiting U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Stuart Symington.

The police commissioner assured the commands readiness to do its best in providing level playing field to all political parties, candidates and the electorates to actively participate in the polls.

He said it however behoves on all Nigerians, to behave and conduct themselves according to the rules guiding the election.

“The Police has no interest in the outcome of the elections or the person who wins eventually, ours is to police the process to its conclusion.

“We are the referees without a team, just abide by the rules and don’t engage in hate speeches right from the campaign to elections,” Abdur-Rahman said.

Symington had earlier said that Nigeria should get the 2019 elections right in order not to disappoint those that looked up to it after the feat recorded in 2015.

“The State of Kaduna is an important place during this election. I am here to underscore a couple of key ideas.

EducationASUU Strike | Those Behind The Lingering Strike - Junaid Mohammed by Lamarking(op): 7:13am On Jan 30, 2019
Junaid Mohammed, Second Republic lawmaker has revealed those behind the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Mohammed said the “insane salaries” of members of the National Assembly and State House of Assemblies will continue to cause “unrest” in ASUU and other labour bodies in the country.

ASUU had commenced its current strike on November 4, 2018 and there seem to be no resolutions as the Federal Government was yet to meet the body’s demands.

However, Mohammed stated that the issue of industrial action will hunt Nigeria because the president has refused to stop the high salaries and allowances of lawmakers.

According to Mohammed: “If you look at this ASUU people, they had more strike under Obasanjo and others than Buhari but I think the average Nigerian students are sick and fed up with ASUU, I don’t believe about anybody in ASUU.

“The whole problem we have in ASUU and the Labour-union generally has to do with the irresponsible rascals who are elected into office, especially in the National Assembly and state Houses of Assemblies because clearly, these people don’t worth their remuneration, they offer no services and most of them are absentee members, most of them are irredeemable quacks.

“Let me tell you, the average legislature in Nigeria today has certificate from the United States, several numbers of cars, now what the hell are they doing with these. They do whatever they like under the claim of constituency all allowances.

“I think the characters around Buhari like Abba Kyari, Mamman Daura, Babagana Kingibe who make up the cabal have not been bold to tell him to put his foot down and say no to some of this nonsense.
