– Nnamdi Kanu betrayed Biafra says newly formed pro-Biafra group Reformed Indigenous People of Biafra (RE-IPOB) – RE-IPOB says Nnamdi Kanu has been sacked – The new group says TRIPOB has also betrayed the Biafran struggle The Reformed Indigenous People of Biafra (RE-IPOB), a newly formed pro-Biafra has said that the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has betrayed the Biafran people. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB RE-IPOB said it sacked the detained director of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, including its splinter group, the Rebranded Indigenous People of Biafra (TRIPOB) because they betrayed the Biafran struggle through collection of money from local and foreign sponsors. In a statement made available to Vanguard, spokesman of RE-IPOB, Ikemba Biafra, accused Kanu of insulting respected Biafran and Igbo leaders and converting the Radio Biafra set up by the leadership of the Movement for the Actualization Sovereign States of Biafra (MASSOB), to a private propaganda tool. READ ALSO: Controversy: Fulani herdsmen attack, Fani Kayode rains curses, attacks Buhari The group added that Kanu’s unguarded utterances led to the detention and death of innocent Biafran youths and accused him of not being sincere about the Biafran struggle and using the platform to attract fortune and fame to himself. “The emergence of TRIPOB is a fall out of the internal wrangling in the IPOB. Members and officers of IPOB loyal to one of the spokesmen of IPOB, Emma Nmezu, are behind TRIPOB. There is nothing actually different between IPOB and TRIPOB. This is why we wielded the big stick to sack them to save the Biafran struggle. We urge all pro-Biafra groups to remain calm and cease any contact with Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB or TRIPOB and await further information from RE-IPOB.” While reiterating its earlier promise to disclose the identities of their leaders on Monday, August 29th, 2016, the RE-IPOB spokesman added that names of their mediators to the expected dialogue with the federal government would also be made public. The group warned that the Biafran movement is not a platform for political shenanigans stressing that attempt to use TRIPOB to influence the federal government by a certain politician, would fail. – Jigawa state government has vowed to diversify its economy – The state has the lowest poverty rate in the country – The state provided goats to women to multiply and these will be sold to Saudi Arabia The Jigawa state government is set to export goats as a way of eradicating poverty from the state by introducing a goat multiplication farming programme. The initiative introduced by Governor Muhammed Badaru Abubakar is expected to bring 18,000 women out of poverty as 47 per cent of the population are women. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Vanguard reports that the national poverty indices place the state as the poorest and women as the most vulnerable. The new goat multiplication scheme is already yielding result. Aishatu Jibrin who was a cap-knitter and has four children benefitted from the goat farming scheme. “I have been knitting since when I was 12 and I have continued even after marriage but the impact on my livelihood and that that of my family has not changed due to exploitation by middlemen.” She said it took her two weeks to make a cap and earned between N500 and N700 per cap but this did not help the family financially. “I therefore always wished to have something that could make my life and that of my family better.” “I was so happy when my name appeared among pioneer beneficiaries of the scheme and the day I collected my three goats, two she goats and one male, it was the beginning of a dream which I hope will transform my life and that of my family in the next one year”. Aishatu applauded the state government for the initiative and hoped that other women will also benefit from it. According to her, her goats have already multiplied. “My hope is to sell by the end of year so that I can buy many sewing machines and open a fashion business in my village.” Indo Dahiru who is also a mother a four and a beneficiary of the scheme said she now enjoys rearing her goats and watching them multiply. “When I was given the three goats last year, I was apprehensive that they may die because I had never engaged in goat or animal husbandry before. But as I got used to it, I saw them begin to multiply. I became more attracted and began to pay more attention to them.” |
