PROFOUND APPRECIATION OF MY SUPPORTERS IN ONDO SOUTH SENATORIAL DISTRICT

The APC primary election in Ondo South Senatorial District may have been concluded,It is no more news that I withdrew my participation from the APC senatorial primary election in a bid to keep my honour and integrity intact. Notwithstanding my withdrawal, it is imperative however, to appreciate all my loyal supporters and delegates that faithfully stood by me before and during the election until my withdrawal was unavoidably announced.

I will like to place it on record that we were never defeated; but most unfairly and illegally edged out of the contest. It should also be on record that my withdrawal from the contest was necessitated by the unconscionable manipulation and compromise of the entire electoral processes.

Solace is however been taken in the undeniable fact that I have further won the hearts of my people in the cause of the entire processes that unfortunately culminated in my withdrawal.

I will like to state with all sincerity that I will continue to owe all my loyal supporters and delegates a huge debt of appreciation for their unusual demonstration of political fidelity. I also want to assure them that my doors will continually remain open to you for unhindered access.

I do sincerely thank you from the very depth of my heart and God bless you all.

The name is Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, one which when mentioned heralds to the faces and minds of the people a great sense of pride, intense feeling of gratitude, a communal atmosphere of happiness.

Today, 27th of May, 2022, he stakes another step closer to etching his name on the bright side of history where mortals aspires to reach.

Taking elections to a new height, the name on everyone's lips would go on to win the party's primary elections having secured the votes of all the delegates leaving none to his opponent.

This is beyond political mastery or brilliance, it is a pure prove of a man whom the people have accepted. The popularity which follows him is one which defies natural understanding. In a political reality where most politicians are known for their deceits and double standards, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has changed the narrative by leading a representation that the people can trust, rely on to do their bidding and also advance their interest.

He didn't just arrive at this point in a vacuum, his trajectory into the state's cum national politics has seen him move from being known as a newbie to a seasoned politician, a proactive young Lawmaker who has intentional positioned himself to become the poster face for quality representation and leadership.

It's not surprising to see him becoming an exemplary figure for politicians who seeks to do something different for their people, also it is not surprising to see him become a reference point for the electorates who hope and pray that they get a credible leader like Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

There's no better way to put it, here is a beautiful story of a representative and the people he represents, one fueled by pure love and mutual respect.

It's only gets better for the people of Akoko North/ East North West Federal Constituency who have made that conscious and intentional effort to embrace Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Ondo State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Services Mrs. Lola Fagbemi has allegedly begun preparations to camp all delegates from Ondo East and West for the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

A social media user, Damien Adebowale, stated this on his Facebook account on Wednesday.

Adebowale wrote on Facebook, “Investigation has revealed that the Ondo State Commissioner for Commerce, Industry and Cooperative Services Mrs. Lola Fagbemi has begun preparations to camp all delegates from Ondo East and West for the forthcoming primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC)”

“According to credible sources,it was further revealed that together with her anointed candidate, delegates who are expected to vote during the party's primaries of the APC to elect the party's candidate for the Ondo East and West Federal Constituency election will be subjected to swear using fetish tools and means while money will also be given to the delegates”

“As gathered, failure of the delegates to vote for her preferred candidates will spell doom. The elders would always say, "Abo oro la sofun omode to ba de inu re adi odindin" that is, a word is enough for the wise”

“A long foreseen war does not kill a cripple. The delegates must be careful and be prepared to turn away the advances of politicians who are out there seeking to manipulate them”

“The beauty of democracy is brought to play when the people are allowed to exercise their franchise without undue influences”

“This is a clarion call to all delegates of the APC to take a stand against unscrupulous elements and manipulators who seeks nothing but to acquire power at the expense of the people”

2023: Group Drums Support for Mayowa Akinfolarin, Hails his Sterling Performance

The Ondo South Unity Group (OSUG) has adopted Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin as its candidate for the Ondo South Senatorial district election.

The group through a communique issued by its spokesperson, Mr. Lawal Adeyemi on the 14th of May, 2023 revealed that after due consultation with major stakeholders in the Senatorial district and party, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin is the best candidate to represent the people of the Senatorial district at the Red Chamber come 2023.

According to the communique issued by the group, Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin, Federal Representative representing Ileoluji Okeigbo/Odigbo constituency in the 9th National Assembly over the years, has etched for himself a credible name and profile."

"His trajectory reads of a man who makes the difference whenever he is given the opportunity to represent the people. Currently representing Ile-Oluji Oke-Igbo/Odigbo Federal Constituency for the second term, he also seeks to represent the good people of Ondo South Senatorial District come 2023 at the Red Chamber."

The group also stated that Hon. Mayowa Akinfolarin is the best option to lead the Region because he comes to the race as a highly experienced political figure, one with a good and brilliant track record, and his emergence in the Senatorial district will no doubt see to a positive change in the narrative in the region.

The group also stated that the sterling performance of the Lawmaker as the representative of Ile-Oluji Oke-Igbo/ Odigbo Federal Constituency at the Green Chamber, makes him a worthy candidate to represent the Senatorial district.

According to the communique," Among the numerous laudable strides attributed to the unique lawmaker is the construction of various boreholes in strategic areas of his constituency. This was done by him to ensure that he addresses the lingering case of water scarcity among his people.

Opinion Poll, favors Boye Oyewumi as Ondo South preferred Senatorial Candidate

An independent online survey has shown that many members of the All Progressives Congress, and registered voters in the Ondo South Senatorial District of Ondo State, have their preference, in the person of Mr Boye Oyewumi, for the party’s Senatorial ticket and choice, as the next Senator to represent the Ondo South Senator District. Oyewumi, is the former Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, of the Ondo State Development and Investment Promotion Agency (ONDIPA).

His Choice, as revealed through the online survey which was conducted by FREDDAN Continental Consultancy, a team of Development Experts and International Poll Analyst, a larger percentage of the respondent showed their readiness to support Oyewumi, ahead of other contenders, including Honorable Mayowa Akinfolarin, Business mogul Jimoh Ibrahim, Barrister Morayo Lebi, businessman Matthew Oyerinmade and a former Chairman of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and one time Nigeria’s Ambassador to Togo, Chief Olusola Iji respectively..
According to the figures derived from the survey, which was divided into two parts, Online and SMS Survey, 5206 of the total of 11586 participants in the poll, representing 45 per cent of the respondents voted in favor of Oyewumi, ahead of his closest contender, Honorable Mayowa Akinfolarin, a serving member of the Federal House of Representatives, who got the support of 25 percent of respondents. Respondents from Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, Odigbo, Ilaje and Ese odo, respectively top the list of participants, who voted Oyewumi, as their preferred candidate.
In the SMS survey which targeted respondents in the six local government areas in the senatorial district, majority expressed their readiness to vote for the APC, if Boye Oyewumi is fielded as the party’s flag bearer.
The survey covered all the Local Government Areas of the southern senatorial district, and respondents cut across members of the APC, and registered in other category.

THE CBN GOVERNOR MUST DISENGAGE FORTHWITH

The news of the purchase of Declaration of Intent and Nomination Forms to contest for the office of the President in the forthcoming general elections, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, purportedly by the supporters of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been received with palpable disbelief and shock by many Nigerians. This act, if unchecked, timeously, portends great danger to the fragile economy of the country.

Rumours had been rife on the subterranean partisan activities linked to him through these shadowy characters in the recent weeks. Pictures of branded vehicles, ostensibly purchased for electioneering campaigns, were also posted on the social media. The audacious moves by those who claimed to be supporting this interest have been unsettling.

This latest news confirms that the Governor may indeed be interested in immersing himself in the murky waters of politics like any other Nigerian with partisan interests. It is incontrovertible that Mr Emefiele enjoys a constitutionally protected right to belong to any group or association and participate fully, just as any Nigerian. It is, however, difficult to imagine that a person who occupies the exalted and sensitive office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria will be this brazen in actualizing his ambition.

There is no gain asserting the obvious. The combined effect of the Public Service Rules, CBN Act and the 1999 Constitution, as amended, exposes not only the oddity inherent in this brash exercise of presumed right to associate. It also confirms the illegality of the act should he proceed to submit the forms while occupying the seat as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Consequently, we admonish Mr Emefiele to leave the office, immediately, for him to pursue his interest. He cannot combine partisan politics with the very delicate assignment of his office. Should he refuse to quit, it becomes incumbent on the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to remove him forthwith.

This is a joke taken too far.

Group Condemn Adetimehin's move to Impose Preferred Candidate on Ondo South


The Ondo Integrity Group (OIG) has condemned the move of the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State, Hon. Ade Adetimehin's move to Impose his Preferred Candidate on the party in Ondo South Senatorial district.

The group through a communique issued signed by its spokesperson, Mr. Adeyeye Olamiotan explained that elective positions in the party is meant for the people to decide and not a single individual.

According to him, "Adetimehin is the chairman of the party and with his position, he is meant to embrace all Party aspirant and not cause division by imposing his candidate on the Party"

He also revealed that the chairman of party in Ondo State has been financially motivated to support Jimoh Ibrahim for the Senatorial position in Ondo Southern Senatorial District.

News from the Secretariat of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Lagos State has revealed that the chairman of the party in the State, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi has started the sale of the Party's delegate form to the highest bidder.

According to the source who pleaded anonymous, he revealed that the chairman is now selling the delegate form in Dollars to interested individuals which is against the Party's constitution.

According to him, "The financier of Lagos 4 x 4 Jendor organization who almost split the party in Lagos into two and also deceived the National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to get the State Chairman is working still for Jandor and might be working undercover for the PDP"

He also revealed that the move has disrupted and destabilized the party structure in Lagos Island, Somolu, Bariga, Ojodu, Oshodi, and Bagadry.

Breaking News: Doyin Okupe Withdraws from Presidential Race, Declares Support for Peter Obi

Presidential Aspirant, Dr. Doyin Okupe has announced his decision to withdraw from the 2023 Presidential Race.

The Two term Presidential Spokesman revealed this through a press statement signed by him on the 30th of March, 2022.

While citing reasons for his decision to withdraw from the race, he explained that he was stepping down for Mr. Peter Obi who he believes is the best aspirant for the presidential office.

He also stated that it's high time the PDP gives its full support to the South East to produce the next president of the nation.

While identifying Mr.Peter Obi, he stated, "I therefore,here and now proclaim that I am, as I have said publicly several times, withdrawing from the presidential race and I am declaring my support for the best aspirant not only in igboland, but in Nigeria as a whole.

Group Condemns Akeredolu's Attempt to Impose Candidate on the Party

The APC Integrity Group, Ondo State Chapter has condemned the move by the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.SAN to impose his preferred candidate for positions within the party.

This was made through a press statement issued by the Coordinator of the Group, Mr. Obakunle Isijola on the 20th of March, 2022.

While questioning the constitutional right of the Governor to be the sole right owners to nominate a candidate for the party which was collectively founded, he explained that the group would not ignore the autocratic tendencies of the Governor.

The Press Statement further reads:

"If you have submitted your right, some others persons has not.
The same Governors who has not fought for us since 2014 to have substantial party positions or good appointment at federal level are now usurping power to nominates party positions.

Osun State had led the party from formation stage, what are you projecting in Southwest, are you saying Ondo State does not deserves better?

If it is not efun, edi or asasi, how can Ondo State preferred Vice Chairman to Secretaryship of our great party?

Who can the vice chairman help?
You're not even talking of a Deputy Chairman but Vice Chairman? Ha! Politics of backwardness!

Kayode Ajulo calls for the removal of Ondo CP over Isinigbo/Igoba Crisis


Legal luminary, Dr. Kayode Ajulo has called on the Commissioner of Police,Mr. Oyediran Oyeyemi in Ondo State, to urgently address the looming crisis in Isinigbo, Akure or be removed as the Commissioner of Police by the Inspector General of Police.

According to him, the area has been hijacked by unscrupulous elements who are threatening the peaceful atmosphere of the community.

In his words, "the lackadaisical attitude of the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Oyediran Oyeyemi to handling the situation is quite applauling and worrisome, as his inability to address this issue will lead to another major crises in the community.

Dr. Kayode Ajulo who spoke from Abuja revealed that a similar situation occurred last year which eventually led to the death of two members of the Ode community and the burning down of the palace of the self appointed traditional chief of the community.

According to investigation, the leader of the thugs was said to have claimed that he has the back up of the Commissioner of Police in the State hence nothing can be done to stop him.

Dr. Kayode Ajulo also stated that if adequate measures are not taking to address the situation before it gets out of order, he would raise a petition against Mr. Oyediran Oyeyemi at the Presidency and the National Security Adviser in Abuja.

The Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure, the Ondo state capital has fixed 20th Tuesday, of April this year to deliver judgement on the petition by the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede SAN seeking to upturn the victory of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu at the October 10, 2020 election.


Justice Umar Abubakar, leading a three-member panel announced this yesterday through a notice to all parties in the case.

The two parties had in February this year adopted their written addresses following which the tribunal subsequently reserved judgement to a later date “that will be communicated to both parties in the case in this month.

Recall that Eyitayo Jegede had petitioned the Tribunal challenging the outcome of the October 10 governorship election in the state in which INEC declared Akeredolu as the winner.


The petitioner who faulted Akeredolu and his deputy’s participation at the poll alleged that they were not validly nominated by their political party, the All Progressive Congress.


In the course of the legal battle, the defence counsels, Akin Olujimi SAN for Akeredolu and that of the APC, Lateef Fagbemi SAN had pleaded with the court to dismiss Jegede on several grounds.


The defence counsel submitted that the petitioner had admitted in paragraph 12 of its petition the sponsorship of third and first respondents but failed to prove that they were not validly nominated.

They described the petition as inconsistent which is forbidden by the law.

The defence counsel, therefore, prayed the court to dismiss the petition for not being properly instituted.

Also, they submitted that the tribunal lacks the jurisdiction to interpret section 183 of the constitution as prayed for by the petitioner.

Unreturned Vehicles: Former Deputy Governor, Ajayi’s Self-help Act Illegal, Covetous

The attention of the Ondo State Government has been drawn to a spurious claim credited to the former Deputy Governor, Alfred Agboola Ajayi in respect of the official vehicles he has illegally appropriated to himself.

As a Government, it is instructive to put the records straight even as the public is owed an obligation of civility, refrain from self-help as well as procedural decency.

This, in effect, necessitated Government’s adherence to due process by informing the Police authorities, of the need to recover the vehicles in question from Ajayi. The resort to this is without prejudice to the abundance of numerous lawful machineries at the disposal of Government to act accordingly.

The former deputy governor’s excuse in public domain is that he had only two vehicles in his possession. He equally considers same, in his reasoning, as pension packages as a former deputy governor of the State.

While it is apt to say that in some States, Pension Laws regulating the welfare of erstwhile governors, deputies and Speakers of State Assemblies (in some cases) have been passed and implemented, it is known fact that no such Law exists in Ondo State.

To the best of our knowledge as Government, the State Executive Council had neither deliberated nor passed any such Policy Decision in respect of Ajayi’s allusions. Even if such Law exists, it is only sensible that proper documentations are effected rather than the brazen act of lawlessness exhibited by Ajayi.

In effect, Government finds Ajayi’s characteristic groundstanding not only amusing. To say the least, this act of self-help and undiminishing trait of covetousness is an affront. Nothing represents an unpretentious theft than the illegal appropriation of an unauthorised property.

It is, therefore, not only for public good, but shall equally serve a veritable reputation lundry stunt if Ajayi could be courageous enough to provide the Law which he quoted to have hidden under.

Government wishes to implore the Police to take appropriate measures to recover the vehicles in the possession of Ajayi. They are Government property he is illegally holding on to, without authorization.

THE Senior Special Assistant to the President on Administration and Women Affairs (Office of the First Lady), Dr Hajo Sani, has given an insight into why the wife of the President, Aisha, did not react publicly to “the other room” comment made by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), in 2016.

Sani said the outspoken Aisha refused to react to the statement because she understood her husband’s mindset and sense of humour.

She disclosed this in the biography of the wife of the President titled, ‘Aisha Buhari: Being different,’ which was presented to the public at an elaborate event held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja on Thursday.

The President at a joint press conference with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, during a state visit to Germany in October 2016 and was asked to respond to an interview Aisha granted the BBC in which she claimed her husband did not know most of the top government officials he appointed, saying some people have hijacked the government.

She (Aisha) had also threatened not to campaign for the President’s re-election in 2019 if he continued that way.

But when asked to react to his wife’s position, Buhari had laughed it off and said, “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room and the other room.”

The comment attracted further criticisms to the President, with many holding the position that the statement was against women.

Sani added that the controversy did not discourage the President’s wife from further intervening on national issues.

She wrote, “Many will not forget the ‘other room’ metaphor which occurred during President Buhari’s visit to Germany, where he responded to a question at a joint press briefing with the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

“In a lighter mood, he laughed off a question about his reaction to a BBC interview with his wife by saying, ‘I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen, and my living room and the other room.’

“His remarks immediately went viral on social media, with some people calling for and expecting a rebuttal from Aisha.

Meanwhile, she never contested the statement or queried her husband. This is vintage Aisha Buhari.

“Married for decades, she understands her husband’s mindset and sense of humour, a side of him that the public may not see or appreciate.”

…….ORDERS APPROVES COMMENCEMENT OF YEAR 2021 PROMOTION EXERCISE FOR PUBLIC SERVANTS..

In line with the policy of the present administration in Ondo State to prioritize the welfare of it’s workers, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has approved the commencement of year 2021 promotion exercise for all Public Servants in the state.

The state Head of Service, Pastor Adeniran Adeyemo, who made this known while addressing Journalists in his office directed Officers from level 2 to 15 that are due for promotion in the year to adequately prepare for the exercise.

He explained that the exercise would involve the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT), therefore eligible Officers are to print out copies of their profile from the platform of Ondo State Service Improvement Programme (ODSIP) created for the purpose of the promotion exercise and attached same to their credentials that would be presented at the promotion interview.

The Head of Service, who appreciated Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for early approval of the excercise, said officers are to physically appear for the exercise with strict observance of the Covid-19 protocols.

He therefore advised all Public Servants to be focused, dedicated and diligent in discharge of their duties to reciprocate the kind gesture of the State Governor.
